A friends-to-lovers novella that came from Out of the Shadows, because Nate and Dylan needed a story….

Nate and Dylan have been pals for a long time. So what if their friends think they’ve got a little bromance going? Doesn’t mean there’s anything more to it than that, right? And even if there is, Nate and Dylan are totally oblivious….

Until the night they share a drunken kiss—and everything changes.

Dylan and Nate have been friends for years and have quite the bromance going on. Two of their friends have started dating and one night both Dylan and Nate admit to each other they’re curious what the two men see in each other. A little bit of experimentation blows both Dylan and Nate’s minds and now they can’t think of anything except each other.

I found this to be a deliciously hot but still sweet friends-to-lovers style of story. I found both guys’ character to be pretty realistic and Dylan’s confusion in the beginning of their changing relationship struck me as particularly understandable. I should point out I hadn’t read the previous story (where Dylan and Nate’s friends Josh and Christian become an item) and while it was clear to me there was a previous story to this I had no problems catching up or knowing what was going on. Christian and Josh are an important part of this book but the focus is fully and completely on Dylan and Nate and the shift in their relationship.

Readers looking for an intricate plot or some heavy conflict might not get what they want in this story – but I personally loved how light and happy the book was. Dylan and Nate were both excellent friends, and there are some strong secondary characters with their other supportive friendship group there to give counsel and refuge when needed. I enjoyed watching Dylan and Nate both try to work their way carefully from friends to lovers without losing anything from their relationship and trying to both meet each other’s expectations and needs. I enjoyed the pacing – finding it smooth and sensible. All up this was just a lovely, happy and interesting read that left me feeling good, satisfied and pleased.

A strongly written, character based book that is happy and left me with a whole bunch of warm and fuzzy feelings. This would be a good story to start readers not used to M/M romances or to more traditional romance readers who don’t want much kink or envelope pushing in their stories. A hot and sexy read but with loads of romance and emotional connection I thought this was a delight to read.

Clay and Daniel fell in love as enlisted men during Desert Shield, but Don’t Ask Don’t Tell meant they had to keep it secret. After Clay’s convoy was ambushed, PTSD changed him, and their relationship ended in a horrible fight on Christmas Eve.

Twenty-five years later, they’ve reconnected on Facebook, and Clay finds out Daniel will be alone on Christmas Eve. Impulsively, he sets out for Daniel’s hometown of Gilead, Ohio—where Daniel is now the mayor—to surprise him with a visit. But a blizzard strikes and Clay wrecks his car. All hope of seeing Daniel is lost—until a mysterious old man named Nick offers Clay a ride.

The weight of past wounds and the scars of war might make their reunion awkward, but Clay is willing to take the risk to win back his lost love. Despite a lifetime of disappointing holidays, Clay hopes that this soldier is finally coming home for Christmas.

Clay had survived active duty as a soldier and cancer, he sure as hell wasn’t going to let being stuck in a snow-storm end his life, particularly not before he could reconnect with Daniel. When his car breaks down Clay is grateful to be rescued and taken the last few miles to Daniel’s cabin – even if it does mean they’re stuck and snowed in together over the Christmas holiday. It’s been a long time since the two men broke up, can they reconnect and have the Christmas miracle they both secretly yearn for?

I found this to be a heartwarming story. Even though the storyline isn’t particularly unique (two men snowed in and repairing their long-damaged relationship) I still found it to be emotional and well written. I liked both Clay and Daniel’s characters and a few chapters in was solidly invested in them patching their relationship up and getting back together after a very long (twenty plus years) time apart.

The emotional connection between Clay and Daniel read to me as deep, intense and quite realistic. And considering the bulk of the storyline is based around this connection – both in the past and how it still abides in the present – I was pleased that it felt strong and real to me.

I felt the pacing of the story was a little tricky. Clay and Daniel’s past relationship still cast quite a long shadow, with plenty of unresolved feelings, hurt and conversations that need to be completed. This baggage could have weighted down the entire story, and while I didn’t feel it was a negative aspect of the story, a part of me really wishes that Clay and Daniel had resolved their past quicker than what occurred. I understood why the author took their time with all this past conflict, and I would have hated had Clay and Daniel simply taken one look at each other and instantly forgiven one another. But I was ready for the two men to move forward and try to rebuild their life and look to the future together quite a bit before it actually happened. When they did start looking forward it was lovely, like everything finally clicked into place and I found it a true pleasure to read.

A deeply emotional and character-driven story there was lots to enjoy about this book. Clay and Daniel are both complicated, multi-layered characters with a sizzling attraction and plenty of history and conflict. This is a good book to dive into and I enjoyed it, finally finishing the book with a warm, fuzzy feeling and a happy smile.

Paul runs a café and has been pretty happy until Nick’s Restaurant opened up right next door. Paul hadn’t minded initially – not until he realized Nick’s place was really eating into Paul’s profits. When an all-out eatery war breaks out between the two of them can they manage to find their way to some sort of compromise?

I have to be honest, Paul’s initial antagonism towards Nick really made me laugh. At the start I quite enjoyed Paul and Nick’s tit-for-tat retaliation, especially when it was small things – turning an “open” sign to “closed” on the front door, or convincing a waiter to leave a little early and abandon his post. I was nervous when the “war” escalated to a point I felt was a bit over the line – but was relieved when both Nick and Paul each individually realized that they had pushed too far. This helped keep the rivalry on the more friendly side of antagonistic and greatly relieved me.

The sex was smolderingly hot when the two men finally made their move and I was pleased that the author managed to keep the enemies-to-lovers aspect of the story fairly realistic and sensible.

Readers looking for a playful and fun Christmas story should find this a good M/M read. The sex is hot but the vast majority of the story is based on Nick and Paul and how their feud brought about their new relationship together. I enjoyed this quick short story.

Nick Caratelli flees the city in an attempt to escape a broken relationship and a career he never wanted. He plans to set up a bed-and-breakfast in the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch country—despite the fact he has no experience in renovating the old building. Luckily his handsome neighbor Sam approaches him with a curious proposal: he’ll help with the restoration in exchange for Nick babysitting his niece.

As they work to have the bed-and-breakfast open for business by summer’s end, their lives become interwoven without them even trying. Before he knows it, Nick is recovering from his loss and taking his place in the unconventional family that seems determined to form. But for Nick and Sam to be together in all the ways they desire, they’ll have to realize all the arguments against romance exist only in their heads….

After his fiancée broke up with him, Nick flees the city to start a B&B, but he quickly realizes he’s in over his head. A friendly neighbor, Sam, offers to help with the renovations in exchange for Nick babysitting Sam’s niece. Can these friendly overtures lead to both Nick and Sam finding the loving relationships they long for?

Treatment for impotence in this overnight generic viagra situation would involve counseling both partners involved. Scientifically, an erection occurs when blood vessels levitra low price are filled up completely.
I found this to be a well-written and light story. I instantly felt empathy for Nick – uprooting his life and searching for something more, and then his reluctance to be “that neighbor” who calls in the noise complaints at 3am when the kids next door just won’t quit partying…everything in the first few pages grabbed at me and touched a chord. I couldn’t help but enjoy Nick’s character and the position he found himself in life. Especially I understood how he longed for a simple, loving life and struggled to overcome the realities of what he was trying for. It made Nick feel really relatable and interesting to me and before the end of the first chapter I was totally hooked.

Sam was also a man I felt I could connect with. His character took a little longer to unwind – he didn’t share much of his history with Nick until almost half way through the book – but as a hard-working man struggling with custody of his teenage niece he was an interesting and appealing character to me.

While on one hand I really enjoyed the slower pace of the storyline just for the blossoming romance between Nick and Sam it was a little frustrating at times too. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know both men – and Ellie, Sam’s niece – properly first. I liked seeing them both in their own setting, watching their lives slowly merge first as neighbors helping each other out and then as men getting to know each other. But Nick initially at least was still pretty torn up about his fiancée ditching him – which was completely understandable, but while I knew he had to be bi, there was no mention of this until over half way through the story – so for quite some time there was a question mark there for me. And while Sam obviously was attracted to Nick, he also didn’t seem at all keen to make a move.

While I truly enjoyed the slower pace for the story, and appreciated Sam and Nick not simply glancing at each other then jumping into bed, not having more than the odd hungry look at each other for such a long way into the book had me wondering if they would even get together romantically at all. And for a romance story I personally prefer not to doubt whether the main characters will even get together – let alone have their romance and Happy Ever After. So this worry niggled me a fair bit.

That said, once Nick and Sam both get on the same page and admit their attraction the romance really progressed and became center stage for most of the rest of the story and I loved this. There is a small amount of sex in this – not enough in my opinion to put off more traditional romance readers, but certainly enough to satisfy those who like a bit of spice in their stories. I found this was a great balance and it helped round of the story perfectly in my opinion.

A slow paced, small-town feeling M/M that was both sweet and just spicy enough to keep me interested. With multi-layered and complicated characters and plenty of plot going around I felt this was a really good story that kept me eagerly turning the pages.

Life is still a struggle, but wealth isn’t always measured in money, and what seems worthless to others is often invaluable to the people who love it.

Casey and Ellis might be practically broke, but for the first time in Casey’s life, they’ve managed to get a Christmas tree – something that Casey is eternally grateful to Ellis for. They string red-dyed popcorn to decorate the tree and both Casey and Ellis use their ingenuity and buckets of love to find Christmas presents for each other.

This is a really sweet and heart-warming Christmas story. It reminded me strongly that a lot of the Christmas season really is your attitude and how you work with what you have. Ellis and Casey might be skint budget-wise, but they have so much love and joy in each other, and their simple gifts to each other has so much thought and love soaked into it that I can’t imagine anyone would think they are anything but emotionally rich. All too often the consumerism consumes Christmas and I found this short story to be refreshingly different and a good reminder that one doesn’t need a stack of money to enjoy the holiday.

While at times bitter-sweet, this emotional story was just so delicious I read it all in one sitting – desperate to know what happened next in the lead up to Casey and Ellis’ Christmas Day. While the two men have a very loving and committed relationship, there’s only one sex scene – the focus of the story being more about Casey and Ellis’ day-to-day life and their lead up to Christmas. I found the whole story interesting, emotional, romantic and best of all a lovely representation of two men who adore each other but have no money and find ways to still celebrate Casey’s favorite holiday of the year together.

Full of lovely warm-fuzzy feelings and two interesting, layered characters this is a great short story and one I thoroughly enjoyed. Recommended.

Ruby has a secret. Beneath her prissy exterior lies a submissive in desperate need of a Master. After her past disastrous attempt at exploring her fantasies, she buried her cravings deep and told herself she’d be fine without giving in to them. Then she meets Joshua. His wealth and lavish lifestyle are nothing next to his driving need to claim Ruby for his own. He’d give up everything to collar her for a lifetime, and he’ll have to use every sinful dominant trick he knows to make her let him in.

Ruby wasn’t really a part of the BDSM lifestyle. Her co-worker and good friend, Jamie, had a part-time gig as an on-stage submissive. Ruby often went along to the privately held parties Jamie worked at, helping Jamie before and after the sessions with her costuming and make up. Only there, in the background of these private parties could Ruby safely fantasize, to imagine what it would be like if she were the perfect submissive, up on that stage being treated like a much-loved toy by her Master. During one performance Ruby notices a handsome stranger, and she’s put off balance when she realizes he’s just as interested in her. Could this man fulfill her every fantasy?

This is a steamy and well written story, definitely not for the faint of heart. It absolutely has some strongly worded language and if you blush easily I’d recommend you read this in private – not on a public commute to work or where you’ll get curious glances. I loved the pacing of the story – I felt the introductions to Ruby and Joshua in particular were excellently written and drew me right in almost immediately. As a reader I felt initially that I connected quickly to Ruby and found her to be a relatable character I could sympathize with. She had plenty of desires but after being burned in the past she squashed them all firmly. After the story swapped to Joshua’s perspective I also found him a lovely character I really wanted to know more about. As the story progressed there are some strong secondary characters that are also introduced and (I hope!) main characters of the two upcoming books in the series.

I found there to be plenty of sex, and while kinky and extremely detailed I also definitely found there to be an emotional connection between Ruby and Joshua. It’s a very fine line, but while I liked the emotional connection between them I didn’t really feel like there was a romantic link between them, and for me this was the main thing I found lacking in the story. I had no doubt that Ruby and Joshua lusted for each other, that they were sexually attracted and fitted together well. Their needs and desires were very well suited. But I didn’t really feel that the spark of romance was there between them and annoyingly (for me) I felt this was in large part due to Ruby – who simply would not let go of her previous bad experience and trust Joshua.

Why Ruby couldn’t see how she was constantly being set up – even after Joshua had proven himself and assured her multiple times – really annoyed me and squashed a bit of my enjoyment of the story. Mis-trusting your partner once, or in trying circumstances even twice, I can understand. But Ruby doubted Joshua over and over and it just got to the point where it really dragged the story down for me. A BDSM relationship in particular needs to be built on trust – if she constantly questioned his loyalty, how can I believe she’d trust him to do kinky things to her? I really wanted to shake Ruby near the end of the story, which was sad because there’s so many other excellent things that I genuinely enjoy here. The sex scenes were delicious, I was very intrigued by Joshua’s friends and hope they get their own stories and much of the BDSM club scenes were really interesting.

With a couple of major exceptions this is a good story and strongly written. I will certainly be keeping an eye out for the next two in the series.

I found this to be a fun short story written in the first-person perspective. John is an average guy with a massive crush, but unlike most of us average people he not only gets to meet the object of his affections, but actually get to know the man behind the public persona too. While in a couple of places I needed as a reader to suspend disbelief (like would a tv star really watch, know and recognize a small-time YouTuber with only a thousand fans?) overall the fun tone of the story helped me roll with it and just enjoy the plot for what it was. And boy was I glad I kept reading – because there’s a few kinks and twists in the storyline that had me giggling and raising my eyebrows.

This is not your average fan-meets-their-crush sort of tale. At least, it’s not like any other story I have read. There’s a bit of light, tastefully written kink that I loved (but which admittedly completely took both me and John’s character by surprise) and a strong Happy For Now ending that left me feeling satisfied.

Except for occurring in December there isn’t really much of a Christmassy feel about the story, but to be honest I didn’t mind that at all. Derek and John’s characters – as well as John’s two friends as secondary characters – filled the story just fine without any crammed-in Christmas-ness. Their antics was plenty to keep me interested and eagerly turning the pages.

A quickly read short story with some laughs and some sizzling sex, this was a great read that I really enjoyed.

The spark is there, but so is a major obstacle in the form of Dane’s peripatetic lifestyle and a bad experience in Carter’s past. Both have to decide if the risk is worth the reward.

Dane was ecstatic. He was deliriously happy with his boyfriend, Carter, and they’d both agreed to spend the Christmas vacation together, alone. Best of all, Dane was thrilled to finally have someone special to ring in the New Year with, someone to kiss at midnight. A dramatic and unavoidable change in his work plans, however, could derail not only that special New Years kiss, but possible Dane’s whole future with Carter. Can they both survive the holiday season?

I found this to be an emotional and well written short story. I thoroughly enjoyed both Dane and Carter’s characters, finding them realistic, vibrant and interesting. The issues that Dane and Carter found themselves faced with when Dane’s work forces them both into a huge upheaval were well handled I felt and kept me invested in both men and their relationship. I thought the author did a great job balancing between each of their desires and kept the storyline rooted in reality when it could have easily become over-dramatic or a little soap-opera-ish.

I was a little disappointed that a very large part of the start of the story was actually flashbacks to when Dane and Carter actually met. About a third of the story was taken up in this matter and I felt could have really been put in a better, more logical order. While I thoroughly enjoyed witnessing Dane and Carter’s initial meeting and the showing of the start of their relationship, it felt quite jolting to me for the story to literally go backwards. I completely understand why the author wanted to add the “meeting each other” section and I do feel it added positively to my understanding of Dane and Carter’s relationship and the story as a whole, but the placement of it felt jarring and I actually hurried through this quite large section – wanting to get back to the “present” and see how Dane and Carter dealt with their current problems. The writing itself was excellent and I genuinely enjoyed learning more about Dane and Carter’s history together, but I can’t help but feel it made the story itself feel jolting and this could have easily been avoided and the story would have been much smoother, I feel, if the author had kept everything sequential time-wise.

This is a very emotional, and in its own way romantic, story that I genuinely enjoyed. I was hugely invested in both Dane and Carter’s characters and particularly their relationship. While the back-and-forth time hopping wasn’t to my personal taste, the overall plot of Dane and Carter’s relationship was engrossing and I desperately wanted to know that they could both pull through their troubles. I was very satisfied with the ending and would happily read other stories by this author.

Will Roger end up being Colt’s Christmas heartbreak… or his Christmas miracle?

Colt had grown up in Texas, so the bitterly cold, snowy Michigan winters had come as an unpleasant surprise to him. Whether it was the insane cold, or perhaps residual feelings left over from a particularly nasty break up a few years ago, Colt found himself far more Grinch-like than he was comfortable with. Braving the bitter snow for a cigarette, Colt finds a small dog, Roger, lost and shivering. Can Roger help return Colt’s Christmas spirit?

I found this to be a sweet and interesting Christmassy sort of story. While I completely sympathize with Colt and his distaste of the cold, snowy winter he’s enduring I was pleased how finding Roger managed to snap him out of his funk. Readers looking for a strong, erotic romance might not find this story quite to their tastes. The bulk of the story is actually between Roger (the lost dog) and Colt, though towards the end of the story Roger’s rightful owner, Killian, does show up. I, personally, was quite enthralled by Colt and his emotional attachment to Roger. I could understand readers being somewhat disappointed if they pick this story up wanting a sensual, erotic romance story, but readers looking for a sweeter, man-and-his-dog sort of story should be satisfied, as I found the emotion and connection in the story was vibrant and quite realistic. Aside from a sweet, chaste kiss there’s no sex or “on screen” spice – while an intimate relationship is alluded to in the epilogue there is no spice within the story itself.

While the story is set around Christmas-time, I found the theme of Christmas to absolutely take a back seat to the connection between Colt and Roger. While not romantic as such, the relationship between dog and man certainly seemed front-and-centre to me, and deservedly so. I found it interesting and extremely well written and I could happily enjoy it for what it was. I was happily satisfied with the ending – a lovely happy ever after for Colt and Killian and wonderful to me as a reader.

Readers looking for a happy and friendly short story – one that can be safely shared with both younger and older readers – with the main relationship surrounding a lonely man who finds his happiness with the joy from a lost pet dog should find this short story heart-warming and sweetly satisfying. A great story with no sex and a lovely happy ending.

After a number of months recovering from the heart-wrenching loss, Grace decides to take the already paid for trip to Fiji she and her husband had planned for the end of the year. When Grace meets Colt on her holiday, can she open her heart to living – and loving – once again?

This is a lovely short story. I was particularly pleased that the author didn’t gloss over Grace and the loss of her childhood sweetheart and husband of many years. There was no doubt in my mind that Grace fully and thoroughly grieved for that loss and finally managed to come out the other side of her grief. Watching Grace embrace life again was delightful and a lovely aspect to this story which I hadn’t been expecting. I feel that readers will either love or hate Grace jumping into a new relationship with a man she met on holiday – the four months that have passed since Grace’s husband died could be either plenty of time to grieve or nowhere near enough, and I think readers will vary wildly in their opinions on that matter.

I personally found that Grace’s emotions were well written, but I was a little uncomfortable at the spiciness of Colt’s reaction to meeting Grace and particularly the speed with which they moved their physical relationship. While I was more than happy to read of Grace moving on and finding love for a second time, I think I would have been more comfortable had it been a softer, more gentle style of love that slowly blossomed into a spicy and sexy relationship. Possibly due to the shortness of the story the vast bulk of that getting to know you stage was skipped over into a paragraph or two describing “wonderful days” of Colt and Grace exploring the islands and talking at length together. While that nod to time was fine – actually reading the story meant that basically from one page to the next Colt and Grace met, admitted their desire for each other then tumbled into bed. It felt just too fast for me, personally, to really enjoy.

Readers looking for a spicy “second chance at love” style of story likely should be very happy with this – as the consummation is sensually and explicitly written. I was also impressed that although neither Grace nor Colt were young, their sexual desires were hot and heavy. Both Colt and Grace were more than willing to embrace life and love and ready to start fresh with each other. This was lovely to see.

An interesting short story that encompasses both the deep well of grief stemming from the loss of one relationship and walking through the other side to the beautiful beginning of a new relationship. This story covers a lot of ground and is certainly a spicy, sexy read.
