After completing his last mission, Quinn Powell leaves the Navy SEALs behind to tackle what just might be his greatest challenge: claiming Kaley Woods. Everywhere she turns, he’s there—strong and intent—his effect on her more powerful than ever. She knows he’s returned in search of something. What she doesn’t realize is he’s determined to make her his … in every way possible.

Quinn was ten years older than his sister Dorothy, but it’s her best friend Kaley that he’s always had his eye on. Reluctantly Quinn had waited another six years, but now he needed Kayley to learn and know exactly who she belonged to – and that he was hers in every way.

This is a steamy and enjoyable quick read. While I admit the plotline is a little cliched and worn to me – older guy is in love with his little sister’s best friend but they’ve both been keeping their distance and waiting for each other – I felt the three main characters were refreshing and individual enough to make this a really fun and entertaining story to me.

Kaley was the typical young and shy book nerd – and I was extremely grateful the author didn’t just turn her from this sweet thing and into a sexy siren in the blink of an eye for no real reason except to steam up the storyline. Kaley was more multi-dimensional than just the usual “bookworm” character and this was really appealing to me. I also really liked the fact that Quinn was trying hard to give Kaley as much time and space as he could, but that there was a limit to how far he was willing to wait.

I was impressed that the author didn’t just have these two do a complete about face – jumping into the sheets and become kinky sex masters without any build up or reason behind it. The pace of Kaley and Quinn coming together was believable and I enjoyed the fact it was well detailed and explained – I felt it was really shown to me, not just told and I needed to accept it as such.

Finally, I was intrigued by some of Quinn’s other Navy SEAL team-mates and would be interested to see if Dorothy and one of them might feature in an upcoming story. I liked that the author left the door open for more stories potentially coming down the track and will be keeping an eye out for them.

Fun, sexy and with interesting characters this was a good short story.

After many years alone Zeus is not just lonely, but tired of his relationships failing. Determined to walk among the humans and try just once more, he comes down to Vegas and decides to try his luck and find a lasting lover. Stone was a statue performance artist and although at first he’s dubious about wanting to spend time chatting with Zeus the man intrigues him and so he gives in. Can they each find what they want from the other?

This is a fast paced M/M romance that is different and interesting. I was a little surprised Zeus didn’t seem as egotistical and overbearing as he is often portrayed. This sort of made sense seeing as he is one of the two heroes – but the different outlook on the Greek god threw me for a little while. I grew attached to Stone much more quickly, partly because I had no pre-conceived notions about him but also as a human and quite modern he felt a lot more relatable to me. I was impressed and intrigued how Zeus and Stone interacted and how their characters came to know each other.

I was pleased that while this story has plenty of steamy sex there was an intense and detailed plot as well. Zeus has some personal stuff to work through but Stone’s life – his work and his sister in particular – make two very interesting sub-plots as well. Readers who enjoy a steamy romance but plenty of plot as well should be particularly pleased with this quick read. I felt the author did a great job both with the pacing and balance between relationship and plot.

While there is mention of previous books in this series I haven’t read many of them and could still follow along with everything quite well – I feel this book stands well on it’s own and the others don’t need to be read for this to be fully enjoyed.

Hot and with two interesting characters and a lot of solid plot – this was a good and quick read.

But now she’s returned home all these years later hoping the cruel and hard Saint might be able to help her now she had no one else to turn to.

I found this to be a hot and sexy read. I was pleased the author took a bit of time re-introducing Saint and Olivia to each other again so I as the reader could grow more comfortable with how they worked together as a couple. While in the two previous books Saint had seemed very much a villainous character, cruel and aloof – only really caring about his MC family and the brewing war between a rival club the Saint in this story was a lot more complicated. Being able to see things from his perspective and hear his take on everything helped open him up as a character much better and more clearly to me. While I admit I felt a bit confused by this – in some ways he feels quite different to the previous viewings I had seen of his character – I enjoyed him far more here than I had before.

Olivia was also a complicated character and I enjoyed her attempts to build her confidence and her determination not to allow Saint to shatter her heart again. I felt the sub-plot of her abusive ex boyfriend was a little cliched but it was a decent reason for her to return to the small town and reconnect with Saint and ask for protection. I really enjoyed how the sub-plot of the brewing war between a rival MC moved along. Readers who haven’t read the previous two stories might not find this aspect of the story as interesting or cohesive as this appears to be an over-riding arc through the series and while I personally feel the plot and progress is quite clear and stands well alone others mightn’t feel the same.

Even with these two sub-plots I really enjoyed how Saint and Olivia’s romance and coming together really was front and center and the main aspect to the story. With steamy sex, a lot of long-brewing emotions and a bit of history weighted down between them there was plenty here to sink your teeth into and I feel the author did a good job weaving everything together into a great, sexy and interesting read. I look forward to future installments about other members of the club.

Duffy and Brad had been lovers many years ago but life had taken them in different directions – Brad to the Army and Duffy through college. Duffy loves his work as a manny – getting to help the kids one-on-one and helping to raise them and is surprised when chance leads him to going for a new Mannie’s Inc job and finding Brad, his six year old daughter Tori and infant twins to be his new clients. Seriously injured in an IED blast almost a year ago, Brad was still recovering and after the death of Tori and the twins’ mother struggling to find his feet and set up a new home for the three children was overwhelming to say the least. Can Brad, Duffy and the kids find a new normal?

I really enjoyed this contemporary story. While I’m a big fan of Sean Michael’s work this is the first Mannies Inc story that I’ve read and I really enjoyed it. Brad and Duffy were interesting and strong characters who I almost instantly connected and empathized with. Brad is trying his best in a stressful and unusual situation and Duffy is eager to help but has certainly been thrown into the deep end. Watching the two men try and find stable and common ground, along with their bubbling chemistry, was delicious and wonderful. I also adored Tori who was cute and a definite character without being too stereotypical as a young child. I loved how she seemed to fit roughly in with her age and she certainly had flaws and wonderful aspects to her character which made her feel really realistic and enjoyable to me.

I was also really pleased Brad’s parents were caring and supportive. This story focused the tension and conflict mainly around the complicated situation Brad and Duffy find themselves in along with the stress of having an instant-family which I felt was great and even though most of the plot was simply the new family trying to find their rhythm and day-to-day schedule I thought this was ample conflict and more would have been unnecessary.

Readers who enjoy a slow-burn to their romance should find this story really suits their needs. While there are a few smoking hot sex scenes between the two men I loved how the pace moved naturally and slowly, almost sweet in many places since a hot and sexy romance wasn’t on either Brad or Duffy’s agenda. The relationship was based on the new family, supporting and helping the children and each other and so this gave the whole story an air of sweetness and a true family dynamic which I absolutely loved.

I feel this story should appeal to a wide range of readers and left me feeling happy and good. A great read.

Isaiah Quintabe might be a high school drop out but is far from your average young man living in LA. Incredibly smart, he’s slowly getting a reputation for helping solve problems of other locals in his neighborhood where the police can’t – or won’t – help them. With his latest case – one he only took because money is incredibly tight right now – has Isaiah taken on more than even he can handle?

This is a completely new-to-me author and the first in his IQ series. I picked this up on a whim and within the first few chapters had decided to order the second book in the series. Other reviews bill this as “a different Sherlockian style of character” and in many senses they are correct. Deduction and piecing together all the small hints and suggestions most of us ignore in day-to-day life is a big part of how IQ solves problems and pieces together the various puzzles and problems that he helps out in. He also has a somewhat arrogant and difficult manner – much like Sherlock – but to simply cut this story down to “another Sherlock style of mystery” is really doing the book an injustice.

Isaiah is not some one in a million genius born perfect and solving crimes from a tender young age. One thing I loved about this story was it SHOWS us how Isaiah trained himself to notice all the small things and how to make the deductions he becomes known for. This wasn’t some magical talent he was born with – he used his brain and trained himself over and over to learn and gain this talent. He EARNED it. I found that so refreshing and amazing. At first I was a bit annoyed at how the author jumps between two time settings – 2013 where the story is in “the present” and back to 2005 where Isaiah’s brother was killed in a tragic hit and run accident. Isaiah’s world – as he knew it – crumbled and this is where he turned his big brain and incredible intelligence into doing more than just winning math awards and thinking about college. It took me a while, but I realized so much of who Isaiah is in the present grows from his grief and the life-altering course of his brother’s death that both these storylines needed to be told and the story moves far better – even though I still find it somewhat jolting – for weaving the two times together as we learn and unearth more and more of who Isaiah is.

I am also wiling to cut a bit of slack to the writer since this is their first book. Isaiah is an engaging and interesting character, and the world and his cases are engrossing. I have to be honest though I do find the writing just a little bit choppy and had the story or Isaiah’s characters not been so excellent I might not have persevered. I’m very glad I did though as the plot is refreshing and seeing how Isaiah grows into the young man he is makes the trip well worthwhile.

Readers looking for a deduction style story (yes, Sherlockian but oh so much more than just that) with realistic and memorable characters and more than a few twisty plots all seamlessly coming together this is an excellent mystery to try. Be prepared to want the second book on hand immediately after you finish the first. While the story doesn’t end on a cliff-hanger there’s more than a few clues as to where the second book is aimed and the epilogue is like a giant, neon, blinking “We are moving here” sign and there is no doubt what is in store for the next book. I’m very glad I gave this series a shot and am eagerly looking forward to sinking into the second story.

This is an enjoyable and somewhat sweet romance that I really enjoyed. Axel and Cassie are both downtrodden in their own ways and I loved seeing them not just come together but build each other up and strengthen each other. That was really lovely and something you don’t often see in many erotic romances.

Due to the short length of the story, Cassie and Axel jumped a few of the normal “getting to know you” steps in a romance. And, while the author explained this well, I still felt like the story might have been richer and more believable had these early steps in their relationship not been so glossed over. I did really appreciate though how Cassie and Axel didn’t just jump into bed together or fall into insta-love. With Axel being a werewolf, that could have been one track taken and I was pleased the author avoided that cliche.

While Cassie and Axel’s growing relationship is the main thrust of the story’s plot, I was really impressed that what I thought would be a cliched ex-boyfriend sub-plot turned into something far more fresh and interesting. A part of me would have enjoyed it had the author given this sub-plot a little more time and room to unfold more slowly, but I felt this really added an excellent element to the story and made it much more than just “shifter meets and falls in love with girl” so it really helped round out the whole story.

With interesting characters and a few fresh twists to the plot, this was a really good short story that I enjoyed.

As they meet a final member who joins their small team, their adventure takes them deeper beneath the earth they find there are far more dangers and monsters than any of them expected.

I am a massive fan of William Meikle’s S-Squad series and have read a number of his other books and enjoyed them to varying levels as well. I’m also often a sucker for a “expedition goes into the cave and finds monster that eat the party” style of book and was happy to give this one a whirl. I was delighted by what I found and enjoyed the full length story immensely.

I struggled a little to discover exactly which historical time period (or perhaps some “close but alternate” style of reality) this was set in as that aspect of the story was kept rather vague. It certainly isn’t a modern in the sense there were no cell phones or GPS and I’m leaning towards somewhere Victorian-ish as their headlamps were from encased flame rather than battery powered. Still, the time-period setting is not critical to the story and I feel readers who enjoy both past and present monster and adventure style stories should equally enjoy this book.

One thing I feel William Meikle absolutely excels in is his action/adventure and “big toothy monsters” plotlines. And this story has both these in spades. While I enjoyed the tension and interactions between Ed, Stefan, Thomas and Daniel it was the way they approached the cave and the monsters they faced within it that really captured my attention and had me up late into the evening turning the pages. I feel Meikle had an exceptional pace throughout the story and as the reader I felt the rising tension as the four main characters explored deeper into the caves. There was equal parts wonder and worry as the danger became more clear but – as you’d expect – the only way out was to continue going forwards.

Thrilling and just a little bit scary this was a brilliant story and one I greatly enjoyed. If there is a subsequent story after this I am very eager for it and will absolutely be purchasing it promptly. I can also very strongly recommend that anyone who enjoys this story try out Meikle’s S-Squad series which has many of the same strong positive points (start with “Infestation” and then move right along to “Operation: Antarctica”). With excellent characters that were unique and vividly different, some scary and amazing monsters, a grand adventure under the earth and a whole bunch of tension this story was excellently written and I feel should appeal to a wide range of readers.

The possibility they might discover life in Antarctica – or even a new species – thrills Saxon and he knows this is his chance to make a name for himself. But what they find fills the team with fear and awe – can they survive where their curiosity has led them?

I absolutely love “monster eats the crew” style of stories and add in a Scientific exploration and Antarctica and there was no chance I could pass up on this story. I was really pleased therefore when my whim paid off and this was a great, quick read. I enjoyed Saxon’s character and also found the other three members of their party to be interesting and different enough they didn’t feel like cardboard cut outs. There was some understandable – though slightly cliched – tension between the other characters but since this is the authors first book I was willing to give him some slack. There’s also a few typo’s that I really feel the editors should have picked up and will hopefully be fixed in future editions.

That said I found the meat of the story to be really well handled. I enjoyed the pace – while the length of the story is somewhat short there isn’t a lot of fat or waffling which really pleased me. The story starts as the expedition is beginning – already entering the ice cave in Antarctica and we can see the various elements of the team dynamic already in play. This helped me get a good feel for the other characters and I was glad I enjoyed Saxon’s perspective and character.

Some readers might find a few small sections of the story a little too close to horror or gory for their liking. Personally, I felt the author walked a good balance between a monsters/realistic style of writing and going too far into the horror/thriller dark edginess. To be fair though, there is a bit of “blood and guts” once the monsters start killing off the party. So I feel readers should be aware that while there’s no titillation or glorification of the violence, neither is this a “behind closed doors” style of story either.

While the trope of “hidden ecosystem in Antarctica” is not new I felt the author brought enough novelty and his own imagination to the table that it felt fresh and kept my attention from the start. I admit I’m a sucker for these sorts of stories but I feel this book was really well written – particularly considering it’s the author’s first. I felt the monsters were extremely creepy and realistic – I got a few good frights while reading and the tension and thriller aspects of the story were really well handled.

I really enjoyed this story and will definitely be keeping an eye out for more from this author. Recommended.

I really enjoyed this slow-paced and romantic holiday romance. I loved the buildup between Oliver and Noah – the fact they didn’t just eye each other off in the train, fall instantly in lust and jump into bed. Oliver was shy and very lonely and Noah might have been successful in his career but he wanted to be liked for himself and not his bank balance. I was pleased that each man was realistic, relatable and the author gave me enough time to get to know them both independently to want them to come together and see how they could form a relationship together.

I felt the conflict in the story was a little cliched but enough of the surrounding sub-plot, who Oliver and Noah both really were and their deep and genuine attraction to each other, managed to carry the story through this roughness. Readers looking for a fresh or unique story-line won’t find that here, but I was really pleased both Oliver and Noah’s characters were interesting and relatable. The sex between the two men was equal parts tender and hot, and I was really impressed that the author didn’t rush to have them jump into bed or fall in insta-lust.

With a good pace, strong characters and a lovely Christmassy setting this story had a lot going for it and overall I really enjoyed it.

Ginny had always been intrigued about the Dower house of Lemachard. She adored hearing stories about the various ancestors who had lived there at different times and while she was thrilled when the house passed on to her it came as a surprise. Discovering the place has more than a few complications confuses Ginny, but she’s determined not to let go of the house she’s instantly fallen in love with.

I enjoyed this short story. While the plot wasn’t anything new or very different, I found it well written with a good, fast pace so it kept my attention and curiosity. I was eager to find how Ginny would deal with the strangeness of the situation she found herself in. I found it quite difficult in places to work out what was real, what was “memories” and what was paranormal aspects and I’m not sure if it was the fast pace of the story that made it confusing or the merging of past and present without any real indication of what was “real” and what was previous. While I could roll with it – my own curiosity was enough to keep me reading wanting answers – I could understand if this merging and back-and-forth is a bit too much for some other readers.

Despite the confusion I enjoyed the banter between Ginny and Roderick and found their chemistry believable even though it leaned heavily towards instant attraction. Their shared history and ancestry weighed heavily on my acceptance that their short courtship and attraction was believable and there were enough other plot elements swirling around in this short story that I don’t feel the author had many other options available.

I felt this story was more of a paranormal romance rather than strongly erotic story. Readers who like their romances adventurous and explicit might not find this aspect of the story satisfies. Personally, I enjoyed the fact Roderick and Ginny sorted out their history and the paranormal aspects first before becoming intimate.

With two interesting and very complicated characters and a lot of plot entwining them together this was a good, quick read.
