Her abusive husband finally out of her life, Jennie Mayfair returns to her hometown to rekindle old friendships and make a new start. She wants someone safe but sexy to hold her again and make her feel loved, and a surprise invitation from Madame Eve seems to be exactly what she ordered. She never expects her wish list to be filled to such sublime perfection. But memories of innocent passions can’t overcome the hurt caused by rash decisions.

Nick Spencer’s business success doesn’t keep him warm at night, and neither did his wife, though she knew how to keep other men warm – in his bed. He doesn’t intend to let her get away from him again.

Moving on from a first love is difficult. For some, it’s impossible.

Jennie Mayfair has also had her share of troubles. Married to a man who did little but verbally beat her down, she’s struggled to put her life back together after her divorce. Her budding design business has helped build her confidence, but she’s yet to dip her toe back into the dating pool. Enter Madame Eve and her 1Night Stand service.

This story has so many positives. Nick is a great guy who carries his heartbreak on his sleeve. He seems determined to win Jennie’s heart, no matter what it takes. Jennie, meanwhile, is trying desperately to protect her heart, promising herself she was not going to allow herself to love again. To watch these two previous lovers rekindling their past was such fun. The heat between them was irresistible, and as they unleashed their passion, there was no doubt they would have a future.

Infused in the book was a little action as well. While brief, it gave the story an unexpected twist and helped progress the story. I did question whether Nick knew Jennie’s ex, and how long they’d known each other, but in the end it didn’t really matter.

One glaring omission that kept me from scoring this a 5. Both Nick and Jennie speak of their past, and each looks back at their missed years regretfully, but the reason for their split isn’t mentioned. Why did they break up and marry other people? Why were they involved enough to engage in oral sex, but the relationship was never consummated? I was anxiously awaiting the reveal, but it never came, and I’d still love to know.

Despite the missing piece, the story was very well done. Nick and Jennie are a great couple and the happily ever after was rewarding, as always. 1Night Stands are always a pleasure, and this one is no exception.

Having been diagnosed with cancer, Cass Goldman decides to opt out of any futile medical care and end her life. While she has some thoughts on afterlife, she never expects to reincarnate into the body of a seventeen-year-old girl named Casey Davidson.

When she awakens in a hospital, Cass discovers two disturbing facts: One, she is now inside the body of a troubled teenager, and two, the former owner of this body committed suicide, but only Cass knows that. Everyone else believes Casey has survived, but suffered a complete memory loss. Cass has two choices: to take on Casey’s life and turn it around, or to confess the truth about her reincarnation and end up in a mental asylum. Given this second chance to life, Cass decides to take on the future life of Casey—the frightening ghoul-faced teen with short, black, spiky hair.

Every person around Cass has an ulterior motive and discovering the truth of Old Casey’s life is more complicated than the “new math” she is forced to learn in school. In addition, Cass has to contend with raging teenage hormones and the prior crimes of Old Casey, which she might not remember, but everyone else certainly does. However, her biggest frustration concerns her feelings for her father’s rugged security specialist who sees her only as a teenager and doesn’t want to explore the mutual attraction between them.

Will her second chance at life prove to be worth the struggles she has to overcome?

Not everyone gets a second chance. Eighty year old Cass Goldman got hers.

Cass ended her own long life after a diagnosis of terminal cancer. Instead of the pearly gates, Cass woke in a hospital room in the body of a seventeen year old suicide survivor, surrounded by her parents. She soon learns Casey, the girl who was actually successful in her suicide, although no one but Cass knows, had alienated just about everyone in her life. Further investigation, however, showed Cass that Casey was much more of a victim than a perpetrator.

This was an interesting story. Casey was a very strong person to have endured what she did, and my heart bled for her. Seemed everyone in her life abandoned her when she needed them most, so she needed to turn inward to survive. The journey Cass takes to save Casey from further harm was complex, suspenseful, and full of twists and turns.

I was left with a few questions, or holes I felt the story contained, which kept it from scoring higher. Cass was supposed to be eighty when she passed originally. As Casey, she spoke very young, so other than occasional reminders of her chronological age, it was hard to remember Cass was actually a much older soul. It just seemed at times she was another person in a strange body instead of being so much more experienced. I wondered why Cass didn’t mention, or at least investigate, what happened to her original self after she passed, but once she was Casey, she was Casey. I’m still not sure we ever got reason for the switch, either.

The romance between Cass/Casey and Troy was not believable to me. I can see Cass relying on Troy, since he was her protection, but there was little reason, or opportunity, for Troy to develop feelings for Cass. As far as he was concerned, she was a seventeen year old kid (to his thirty). I knew he admired her tenacity, but as far as anything further – especially something long lasting – I just wasn’t sure what that was based on. The romance seemed a secondary storyline, but it did take much of the second half of the book.

Poor Casey endured much more than any person should ever have to, and reading it was difficult at times. Her mother was far from likable, but her father seemed a good guy. If you’re looking for a story of survival, redemption, strength and ultimate victory, this one has an interesting ride.

Books and More owner, Nina Foster doesn’t believe in love anymore. Twice, men have crushed her heart. Now, she’s resigned herself to making hot chocolate and baking cookies for the customers who enter her store. She won’t risk her heart again.

Blake Massie hides away from the world, nursing his scars. He sees himself as a monster that no one could ever love. A self-imposed recluse, he won’t allow himself to open up, afraid of being burned like his fire-ravaged skin.

Unable to reach out in person, the pair communicates via the Internet and hot, erotic fantasies. Night after night, they explore their growing passion with only a blindfold to protect their secrets. As Christmas approaches, Blake must share his pain if he is to ease hers, but doing so could drive her away forever. Can they take a chance and follow their deepest soul dreams, or will their fragile hearts continue to hide from the world and one another?

Many people suffer heartbreak before finding their true love. But is there a point where past damage is too great to overcome?

Having one engagement broken, only to fall in love with a man who betrayed her, she looked to start new in a place where no one knew her and she could find solitude. She purchased the town bookstore and was well on her way to building a happy life…or was she?

Enter Blake Massie. The mysterious man Nina knows only as a name on a computer screen. He lives only a mile from her house, yet no one knows anything about him. Never appearing in public, Blake lives with an old family friend and caretaker, imprisoned by fear of how others would perceive him. Though his actions were heroic, Blake was forever disfigured by fire, and in the two years since, has hidden himself away from everything and everyone…until he saw Nina’s picture on her website.

This was a lovely tale of survival and redemption. Both Nina and Blake were damaged in their own ways, and each had sworn off the rest of the world. But, a combination of fate and the undeniable need for companionship drew them together. Though Nina had vowed to never be taken in by a man again, she feels herself waning the more she gets to know this new mystery man. Blake, meanwhile, sheds all his insecurities and self-doubt while hiding behind his computer monitor – able to show his true self without the fear of his appearance.

There was a need to suspend reality a little to believe Nina would visit Blake daily without consummation, much less seeing him with her own eyes, but the culmination of their relationship was well worth the long build up. When the two finally opened up fully, I read the final pages with a smile on my face – and that’s exactly what I look for in a great story.

Desiree Holt doesn’t disappoint with this one. This is romance at its best – rugged, but damaged hero teamed with the disillusioned and heartbroken heroine. Want a classic romance? This is it.

Yolanda Paterson found the perfect man. He’s kind, helpful, smart, and sexier than any Playgirl cover model. He does things to her body that should be considered illegal in some states. What more could a woman need, right? There’s just a couple of problems. One, he’s a younger man, and two—and this is a big one—he’s her best friend’s nephew.

Having completed a teaching internship at Yale, Lawrence returns home. It’s great to see his Aunt Lizzy and Uncle Hank. It’s amazing to see Yolanda Paterson. He’d had the typical neighborhood boy crush on her. But now, he’s a grown man with needs…and he needs his aunt’s best friend.

Yolanda remembered Lawrence as the kid who would fix things around her house, and how he looked as he walked across the stage at his high school graduation. So why is it that she now see him as a potential love interest? Was it wrong of her to look at her best friend’s nephew and think the things she did, and did she have the right to want him as badly as she wanted him?

He was now a thirty year old man and even though Yolanda was forty-three he was determined to make her see him as the man he is and not the kid he was.

Love Thy Neighbor’s Nephew is a delightful story of a woman who wanted a younger man but was afraid to act on it simply because she did not want to ruin the friendship she had with his aunt. It was enjoyable to see how the main character Yolanda struggled internally with her desires, fighting them at times but ended up acting on them anyway. The characters of Yolanda and Lawrence as well as Liz and Hank were well rounded, and the friendship between Liz and Yolanda helped to give more body to the story. The author helped you to see the struggle Yolanda had while trying to decide if being with Lawrence was worth the loss of a friendship, and if age would really factor in which is something you as the reader could relate to.

Author Stephanie Williams kept the story light with a bit of humor thrown in, but still managed to give you pause for thought. Is it wrong for an older woman to pursue a younger man especially if you’re friends with their family? Love Thy Neighbor’s Nephew is an enjoyable read and I look forward to reading more of this author’s work.

Ally Kincaid returns to Freewill, Wyoming, to see her father after a two year absence. Anticipating a quiet family reunion, she finds herself butting heads with her father’s foreman instead. The man’s arrogance and sexy drawl push all her buttons, making her wonder what he’s hiding beneath his cowboy swagger.

Matt Gentry walked away from the past and shies from the future. No ties means no one gets hurt…until the boss’s daughter, a hot, green-eyed blonde, tempts him to break his own rules.

When tragedy strikes, will building tension and pride destroy their growing attraction or show them the way home?

Concerned about the emotional well-being of her father, Ally Kincaid has returned to the ranch where she was raised in Wyoming. Having lived in New York for many years, she realizes quickly how much she misses home, as well as her widowed father. The only problem she encounters is her father’s trusted foreman, Matt.

Matt Gentry is a man hiding in plain sight. A mysterious traumatic event from his past has brought him to Freewill, and he’s worked day in and day out ever since. Having developed a strong affinity for his boss and friend, Jessie Kincaid, his life is thrown for a loop when Jessie’s daughter, Ally, comes home for a visit.

Ally and Matt have an instant attraction, if not love, at first sight. While both resist, the draw becomes too much and they succumb to their mutual desires.

I was immediately drawn into this story, and for the first half was riveted to every word. The antagonistic, yet sexually charged relationship Ally and Matt were developing made for a fun read. The sex was intensely hot, and I was anxious to find out if, or how, they would end up together.

After the couple’s consummation, the story fell a bit flat. The set up being so well laid out, I was disappointed that the latter part of the book seemed to focus on Ally’s father and his recovery, rather than the relationship between Ally and Matt. They were together at the hospital, and while their interaction was referenced, we didn’t get to witness much of it. There was little communication between them after the hot sex they shared, so the mystery of where their relationship was continued to be in question.

I enjoyed living the tale through both points of view, but at times felt it was switched perhaps too often. It made it a little hard to truly connect with each character, but it also kept the reader wondering what Matt’s mysterious past had to do with his current frame of mind. So, this may have been done for suspense effect.

While I was happy with the end, considering the two had little time together, and what there was revolved around injury, the topic of marriage seemed a big step. However, I love the idea of the two riding off into the sunset, and can see the foundation of a long term relationship set.

As a whole, I loved the story of Matt and Ally, the devoted cowboy and the rancher’s daughter. This is a new spin on a classic tale, and I enjoyed taking the time to read it. If you love a rugged cowboy paired with the beautiful city gal, this is a great one to read!

Constantly on the go and admittedly wound tightly, Heather Bowen follows her insurance carrier’s suggestions and visits a massage parlor to try and relax. Privately cynical about a masseur being a true medical professional, Heather is cautious around Tasha to begin with. Tasha’s easy, bohemian manner soon has Heather relaxed, and when the massage starts to really work, Heather questions why she waited so long to do this. Unexpectedly, however, Heather finds her body responding erotically to Tasha’s skilled hands. “Releasing muscle tension” suddenly gets a whole new meaning…and that’s only for starters.

I enjoyed how natural Tasha and Heather came together. The build up between them was well paced, neither seeming to push the other. Tasha suggests she try some new techniques on Heather, and Heather is delighted – thoroughly enjoying her first massage. I found the smooth, slow progression of their mutual seduction enticing and eye-opening. As the book is entirely in Heather’s point of view there were a few short places where I found it difficult to gauge what Tasha’s true thoughts and motivations were. At times she read to me as a little emotionally removed – despite her sensual and skillful actions. In these places I questioned whether Tasha held ulterior motives, or whether she merely did just want to “try out” her new techniques. I found myself losing some of that erotic build up in these areas. Mostly though this extended scene was a realistic, steamy coming together of two girls. I particularly liked how neither were instant porn stars. Heather describes some of the sex sounds, and there were a few times as they came together where limbs were awkward and Heather was unsure of the mechanics of girl on girl. It made the read much more realistic to me and funny in a sexy, hot way.

For a reader who isn’t very big on F/F (like myself) I thought this was a cute, easy introduction to the genre. There’s a really intriguing twist half way through that caught me totally by surprise. I can’t say much more without spoiling – but after Heather and Tasha’s scene there is progression, and a smoking hot M/F scene with Heather. The male character is a large, domineering man who is equal parts anti-hero and sexy dominant. There is some mild bondage (the use of restraints), dirty talk, spanking and a sex scene that I found very hot, but isn’t for the faint of heart.

This story won’t be for everyone, but I found it delightfully explicit, well written and the erotica sizzling hot. If you’re open to your stories being on the raunchy, naughty side, don’t mind a bit of F/F action and like your heroes tall, darkly handsome, not necessarily pure of heart and more than a little spicy, I’d recommend this story for you.

He was a good guy, seemed to think like a guy (even though the book is written by a woman) and was after more than just a romp in the sack. A typical bartender he is not! He’s completely bewitched by the older woman who keeps turning his head. Everything about her is mesmerizing to him and the author really got this across nicely; her hair, the way she moved, the banter between them. It was nice because it didn’t seem like she was trying to snare him or that he was totally stalking her, it just happened and when it did – Boom!

Ms DeLand writes good erotic romance with three dimensional characters, steamy sex and well rounded plot lines. I’ve read and enjoyed her work before and this one is no exception. The wedding situation was fun and kept the story kicking along. I fell for Luke, ‘Rita Hayworth’ is one lucky lady, and their dilemma at the end was well-handled, not too prolonged but equally enough made of it. I enjoyed the fact that I could see them ‘riding off into the sunset together.’

If you enjoy immersing yourself in a one-night stand story that has potential for more, then More Than You Know might be just up your alley.
