Jesse cannot stand to watch Clayton continue to destroy his life, just because he feels as if he deserves to be punished. Jesse’s strength is awe inspiring and made me want to wrangle up the first cowboy I see. Even his silence says more than a ten page letter. Jesse’s willing to give Clayton what he needs, which may not always be what he or Clayton wants. His ability to see what’s needed and give it to Clayton was another characteristic that I envied. If more people had this ability, relationships would be much easier in real life.

With two completely different personalities, Clayton and Jesse’s story kept me mesmerized. I even enjoyed how their past played a role in their present. They had a unique connection that was evident from the beginning of the story, and made me want to learn more and more about them individually as well as together.

The supporting characters and additional subplots also kept the story entertaining. Whether it be the town bigot or the ex fiancé, it seems as if both men had plenty to deal with. This added an element to the story that helped to bring these characters together, as well as kept them apart at times. It created a more dynamic and realistic story line.

This is my first story of this series, but it most certainly will not be the last.

Wow. Hot, complicated, detailed . . . and, oh yeah, did I say hot?

This is an intricate plot woven with plenty of details. The history of the Pantherian race is explained as well as a small back story to place our hero, Marcus, within the presence of our heroine, Allie. Admittedly, it gets a little convoluted at times, especially when other Pantherians call Marcus by his title, Magnus. Their shifting and ability to transport also make following the plot difficult to follow from time to time. However, reading the history provided before the story helps a whole lot.

The science involved in the plot made me uncomfortable at times. As I am not an expert in merging human DNA with animal DNA, anything described could be plausible. But uncomfortable is not necessarily bad. It also gives Marcus a purpose as well as an ethical dilema with which to struggle.

Allie’s “face-blindness” also is an area where I have limited knowledge. This, however, is explained fairly well within the plot (due to Marcus’ diligent research, of course). It’s quite interesting to see the different techniques she uses and is taught to use throughout the story so that she can function within society and not have others know of her “disability”.

And the sex. . . oh yeah, there is plenty of it. It is hot, and it is detailed. But it also happens to be the basis of Allie and Marcus’ relationship. Marcus is definitely dominant in their relationship and exerts his power from the beginning. Their encounter in his garden involves a contraption I’m STILL not sure I have figured out!

While there were no menage scenes or multiple partners involved in this particular story, the Pantherian race requires two males and one female in order to concieve. It is plainly stated and hinted this may be the direction Allie and Marcus need to head. In addition, while not detailed, there’s a brief description of a sex game several wolf-changer Pantherians engage in during which they “hunt” a human female for the purpose of sharing her sexually amongst all the males participating. Relationships are integral to the plot of this story. Allie’s father adds a “dangerous” twist to the plot, and her friends provide a loyal and protective barrier around her. A beautifully written plot, a hot and growing relationship as well as interesting secondary characters make this a must-read for me. Pick this one up at your next chance . . . then set aside several hours because you won’t want to put this down once you start!

Lack of trust and enough conclusion jumping to make a an Olympic pole vaulter jealous go a long way to changing Macy’s preconceived perception of Trace.

This cowboy stud (actually, I liked Macy’s name for him but can’t repeat it here) is going to have a whole lot of quick talking and groveling to do to get Macy back to blushing and all sweetness. I was pretty sure he could handle it and was looking forward to watching this dominant male squirm just a little. Ms. Alexander didn’t disappoint and she also didn’t draw it out. Quick apologies and candid conversation kept this hot train on track and back to the steamy action.

The dialogue is really fun. I had to smile when Trace tells Macy, “Wait until you get a taste of my lovin, sweetheart. You’ll be hooked”. I know I was and I was only reading the smokin’ bedroom action.

Ms. Alexander launches the reader straight into the first meeting between Macy and Trace. That works just fine for this short story so that I had more time to watch the sparks turn into an all-out Fourth of July show worthy of Times Square!

I never felt cheated from character background or development. Bits and pieces of both Macy and Trace’s backgrounds are sprinkled throughout this novella.

This was my first book by Ms. Alexander but it certainly won’t be the last. Her story moves quickly and flows smoothly from start to finish with almost no lag time. It kept me reading to see how Macy and Trace would come to the same conclusion his thoughtful Uncle Silas knew all along. They were perfect for one another.

He wanted her just as much as she wanted him and it was amusing when they did get together and forgot to take their earpieces out. Let’s just say the staff got an earful! The supporting characters, especially the stalker and Alex’s other brothers, Donovan and Zachary, added dimension to the story and helped you understand Alexandra much better.

The story was well written and it did keep my interest from beginning to end. I really liked Adam and Alex. Even though he didn’t want to disappoint her brother, Adam couldn’t deny his love for Alex and when he finally gave in he made sure that he fulfilled one of Alex’s fantasies which turned out to be really hot. This was an excellent read and I look forward to reading more books in the ‘Club Lexx’ series.

Part of me questions if his virtue was maintained just because of his hopeless romantic behavior or his past lover’s thoughtless attitude towards him. Either way it made a wonderful man just waiting for Dr. Scott to come and claim him as his own.

Dr. Sheridan Scott is everything Darcy needs and wants. I love how he seems to anticipate Darcy’s needs and is willing to meet them all the way. One thing I did question was in the beginning he seemed to be just enjoying life and looking for a quick hookup, but that quickly changes when he meets Darcy. I would have liked to have seen a bit more to understand why he felt the need to seek something more permanent from Darcy. However, I will say I would have done the same in his position.

The plot of this story is based around the relationship development of Darcy and Sheridan. I was completely caught up in the relationship from beginning to end which made this a very easy read. The story moves at a brisk and comfortable pace, the pages just seemed to fly by, I finshed and was surprised I had read over a hundred pages so quickly. This is a story I would recommend to anyone who loves a romance story with an erotic twist.

Jan Bowles is a new author for me, but I knew as soon as I read the first few pages I was going to enjoy the modern ring of the story, the vivid characters and the picture painted for them to exist in.

Lia Constantine’s day just doesn’t start out like usual; not only is she bundled against her will into a limousine and driven to one of The Strip’s most fantastic casinos, she also comes face to face with the most infuriatingly gorgeous man she has ever met. Why infuriating? Because he has a hold on her, a monetary hold, and Lia’s life is turned upside down as she has to face the debts her father left and battle against the overwhelming attraction she feels for Jake Bennetti. But it seems the attraction is mutual and true to his gambling personality, Jake is prepared to put everything on the line to win Lia, especially when he realizes she enjoys the same D/s fun in the bedroom as him.

I liked Lia from the beginning, she’s the sort of girl you could imagine being friends with. She’s got a history that includes grief and heartbreak but she is feisty and strong and re-building her life. She also isn’t the sort to take any nonsense and this made seeing her submissive to the delectable Jake all the more fun as a reader.

Jake was a perfect match for her, and I liked how the author used the two lead characters grief as a catalyst to bring them together, it could have been cheesy but it wasn’t, it tugged my heart-strings and gave grounding to their emotions and actions.

So on to the sex, yep the sex was there in bucket loads and it was hot, hot, hot with a good sprinkle of BDSM thrown into the mix. I didn’t feel short-changed at all as the characters went from one sweaty scene to the next, it was well placed and each time they were climaxing together, it added new layers to their relationship. One of my favorite parts of the book is when Jake takes Lia for dinner and spots the BDSM jewelry she is wearing, I didn’t see that coming but it made so much sense to the characters. I would just add one word of warning here though, if you are squeamish about clitoral piercings being tugged and tugged then you might want to skip a couple of lines in the middle of one scene, but if that’s your thing, well, you’re onto a winner.

Like many of Mychael Black’s stories, this one isn’t for the faint of heart. There are a couple scenes with a set of nipple clamps that might not be everyone’s cup of tea. But the author writes the scenes with a fluidity that just drew me right in. The short has heat and an open-ended feel, begging to have a sequel.

If you want a hot book in a compact fashion, then this might be the book you’re looking for.

I do also wish the story had been extended a bit. There were some loose ends that weren’t quite tied up and I attribute that to the abrupt ending. All the major questions were answered, but there were a few, “I wonder what happened to…” that I found myself asking at the end. It didn’t take away from my overall enjoyment of the book, and would still recommend it to others for a great read, but perhaps fleshing out some of those missing pieces would make this four star story into five.

If you love a good “who dunnit,” mixed with a strong, hot love element, this is definitely a title (and author) to pick up!

I can’t tell you how much I love these characters. Sora, a female Otu Warrior, is strong, courageous, and determined. When she’s captured by a Waban war leader and sworn enemy, Hakan, she must endure his certain torture to avoid being broken and carry out her mission to get to the Waban Elder. While refusing to back down, she seemingly submits, yet never loses focus of her goal, to collect information about the Waban tribe and bring it back to the Otu.

Hakan, although fierce and threatening, is a wonderfully complex character. His inner turmoil – does he treat this captive as just another spoil of war, or give her the respect her warrior status commands – is gripping and enjoyable. Ms. Harper is an expert in her setting. I know little of native culture, but was never lost in the perfect world she has created. The adversarial relationships, differences in language, and even day to day living were so wonderfully laid out that I was not only able to follow the story, I became lost in it. I felt a part of their world, and that takes a very talented writer.

The love scenes were sensual and erotic, but also served to further connect the hero and heroine. Through both points of view we are able to experience Hakan’s struggle with the “spell” this irresistible captive had over him as well as the Sora’s attempt to retain her distance from the man who claimed to own her. Their individual struggles were believable and served to bond them even further, since both understood the other in a way that few could.

The only piece of this wonderful story that was missing was their ultimate expression of love. They each thought it, but never spoke the words to each other. Ms. Harper has such a beautiful use of language for the natives, I was hoping to hear how they each chose to express themselves to the other. In the end, it was an assumption, but we didn’t get to witness the conversation taking place. I missed it, but even without the words, their dedication was unquestionable.

If you like a story that takes you to another time and place, and a love story that leaves you breathlessly rooting for the hero and the heroine both, THIS is definitely a title to pick up!

It’s not that he isn’t insanely attracted to Bannon Murphy, but when the man starts talking about mates, Galen balks. He’s been burned by a lying, manipulating shifter before, and he isn’t convinced that he can trust the sexy Irishman.

After months of trying to convince Galen they’re fated to be together, Bannon is at the end of his rope. No matter how hard Galen tries to push him away, Bannon isn’t going anywhere without a fight.

When The Council convinces him to take Galen on his next assignment, Bannon decides to use the time to woo his obstinate mate. Unfortunately, it soon becomes apparent that keeping them safe from their enemies will be easier than convincing his mate to stop running from the truth.

With shifters, vampires, witches and more, this story really kept me on the edge of my seat.

Bannon exudes self-confidence, now if he can just give some of that confidence to his mate, Galen, he may be able to capture the forever after he’s always dreamed of. Bannon is a sexy Irishman I would love to have covering my back. His character just made me feel protected even as a reader. I could tell he would do anything to keep those he cared for safe, including his reluctant mate. I also love a man with an accent so this story was perfectly written to show his Irish heritage and made me want more.

In the beginning of the story, I was a bit confused by the secondary characters. There seemed to be so many of them populating the scenes I had a hard time differentiating between them. I think this is partially because I have not read previous stories in this series. Had I been more familiar with the series I am sure I would have appreciated these cameos.

The subplot of the story was as entertaining as the romantic development. I enjoyed learning about Bannon and Galen’s individual abilities and how they helped protect those they loved. I would have liked to have seen Galen’s “shifter” blood play a bit more of a role, however. The conflict added a bit of edge to help push the characters along nicely. While danger was lurking at every corner, Bannon and Galen also found time to just have fun and enjoy one another. The good times mixed in with the danger made me appreciate the main characters more. It also gave me an indication that their relationship would last throughout the ages.
