This story is fast-paced and very hot. The reader can see how much the husband and wife cherish each other and their friendship with Hank. How many of us can say they know that kind of love? This book was a nice short to get introduced to a new author.

The paranormal aspect of this Crossroads installment takes a number of intriguing turns as Frank pushes at the envelope of his knowledge and his gifts to try to deal with an elusive child haunting him. The suspense ramp-up is so well done, giving the readers shivers and heart-clenching moments in turn. In fact, the set up, as Frank does his investigative work, is so well done, therein lies the major issue with this story.

A little more time in the creative slow-cooker, and I think this could have been a truly astonishing work.

Ms. Diablo is a writer of imposing imagination, creating characters the reader connects to and situations that are intriguing and fresh. I have the feeling we’ve been set up for more from Frank and Rand in the future and I, for one, am eager to see what’s next for these two.

However, given that this book is number three in the series, it is more than possible that the scene had been set in prior books. Nevertheless, a repeat or a summary of setting of the scene would not have been amiss.

Minor inconsistencies include the fact that on the one hand Amber has been adoring Brett from afar, yet Brett reveals that he has been waiting for Amber to accept his invitations to the Roadhouse. Norris on the other hand enjoys the ménage lifestyle and has been to the club many times, yet Amber who works intimately with him and lives in the same town has no knowledge of his proclivities in this area. Another strange quirk is the fact that Amber has an accent that Norris cannot place, which is not explained.

Another thing that was worrying was the lightning quick emotional turnaround by Brett who loves Amber and apparently has done so for years from afar– when he first discovers that Amber did help to fleece the senator of his money all he wants to do is kick both Amber and Norris out of the club, but then just seconds later he changes his mind. Strange behaviour from one who has been waiting for someone for so long.

I loved the way that the senator finally got his come uppance, but you would expect that in a small town, a club like the Roadhouse would be known to the locals and to the police, but these police had no idea. Despite the minor lapses in the story line, I loved the way that Amber finally got both her men and how Norris and Brett got their woman and how they became a complete unit. I am going to go and get the rest of the books in this series as I want to find out more about other characters mentioned and about the Roadhouse!

Despite being a big part of the story – the main reason why Cass was hiding, the husband fails to make an appearance, despite the scene being set for him to do so, which left an unfulfilled conflict arc in this particular story. For someone who hasn’t had great sex at all and has actually been abused, Cass seems to jump quite fast into a relationship with Matt and David and though there are attempts made to show a weaker, scared side of Cass, they needed more explanation – the fear of the dogs was never quite explained fully, leaving the reader to wonder what that story was and how it connected to the overall story.

The sex scenes flowed smoothly – again this didn’t quite jibe with the abused wife story line, but the scenes were hot and steamy, and the two brothers come across as very dishy, considerate males who really want to have a relationship with Cass. And while she is the one hindering the progress of this relationship, she also jumps very quickly into a loving relationship with the twins. Some of the issues that you would think would be discussed by those in a menage a trois were glossed over so quickly that it made the reader feel that there was something that was missing – Cass and her husband hadn’t been able to have children, but both Matt and David are vehement in not wanting children – Cass at her age would still be capable of having children, but whether she wanted to or not wasn’t really explored – instead her age was made an issue in the story.

I really enjoyed reading about the developing relationship between Cass and Matt and David, but feel that there was a whole lot more – could it be that there is a sequel in the works?– in some ways it felt as if there were things that hadn’t been completed that would be at a later stage. Ms. Martine has done a good job of writing a meaningful story about the development of a ménage a trois relationship and it would be great if the loose ends were tied up in a sequel.

What bothered me was Gina’s overactive imagination (not that we don’t all let our minds wander when faced with a troublesome situation; again the reader can relate). I felt that she gave up a bit easily. That being said, the ending is totally worth the read.

If you want a short but red-hot story for a chilly night, then you need to read Staking Claim. I give this story 3.5 cherries.

Rip is the dominant partner, of course, and even tells Gil “You know, for me you will always be a bottom.” Gil agrees without question – even though he’d really like to try the alternative. The sex happens almost at once, so there’s little exploration of why Rip suddenly wants Gil, or why an NFL player would even go to his high school reunion in the first place.

These criticisms aside, I did like the idea of “sexcapade” taking place in the darkened halls of a high school, during a reunion. Both men do get a happy ending, and the male-male loving is hot. Readers looking for a quick erotic short story should find satisfaction in Rip Cord.

Tymber Dalton also introduces some additional shifter characters in Steam in the form of Triplet Alpha wolves Ain, Brodey and Cail Lyall. Brodey’s personal struggle of having to give up a woman he loves because she isn’t “the One” for he and his brothers is pivotal to the connection and friendship he and Lina form.

Lina is a strong woman and at times overpowers her dragon mates’ characters. At one point I even imagined them looking like reprimanded children, relegated to the third row of seats while she and Zack were sitting in the front, rather than Fire and Ice breathing Alpha shifters. I found myself wanting them to be more assertive when dealing with Lina’s mood swings and outbursts rather than deferring to Zack as her “Princess Prozac”. At the same time her history with Zack does lend itself to giving him insight into dealing with Lina.

Ms. Dalton states at the front of the book that Steam is a stand alone story, and she’s correct, but you get a better understanding of the main characters if you start with Boiling Point (available in the Tasty Treats Vol. 3 Anthology). As a single story I would give Steam 3 Cherries.

I was intrigued when I picked up this ebook. Twentysomethingtwinks.com. Interesting concept—men on camera having sex. As I got more into it, I was a bit let down. Yes, there are some really hot scenes, but I wanted to read more of the romance of the situation. The sex is hot, but I wanted more.

You really feel like you’re there on the beach with these guys as they explore the boundaries of sex. The thunder rages outside and the rain slips sideways while the candles flicker inside. It sounds romantic and sexy. For the gentlemen involved, it is quite raunchy, no-holds-barred, and hot.

I didn’t feel there was a clear-cut hero in this story, but rather a guy trying to figure out what he wants out of life—apparently men, lots of men. Hey, the reader can identify because lots of people fantasize about group sex. Although I realize that the site the guys work for doesn’t emphasize romance and commitment, I wanted to see more. I know there was a bit there, but it wasn’t enough.

If you want a story that’s packed with hot guy-on-guy action, then you should get a copy of Screen Shots 5: Sexology. I give this story 3 cherries.
