Zach is a conundrum. He’s a football player and feels as if being himself isn’t always the answer. Sure, his team knows he’s gay, but it’s not the only thing that makes him who he is. The one thing that was both exciting and needed a little bit, was Denny. I liked his character, but I wanted to see him more fleshed out. There were times when I wasn’t sure whose POV I was in, and I wanted to know more about him. Denny is a bookseller and flash fiction author. For me, this was a first in a book, and I wanted to know more about it. What made him tick? How did he get into writing FF and what made him flighty? These things are touched on, but I wanted more.

Still, the love scnes are hot and written with care. I had to check my screen for singe marks because it was so steamy. Definitely worth a second, third, and fourth read.

If you want a story that’s a little left of center in a great way, then you need to read Big Balls and Trouble. I give it 3 cherries.

The writing was clear and eloquent, but there were references that I didn’t get, and the names – well, I had never come across a male name of Anax before, and his best friend, a guy had the moniker of Amyntas, also new to me so had me stumbling over them. There is a part in the story when Eve, wearing bells of all things, first meets Anax and Amyntas and sees that they both have identical tattoos – I would have liked to have this explained further as it was hinted that they had a shared, somewhat difficult background, but that was it, and I wish I’d learned how that background led to them becoming the gorgeous, intelligent hunks that both obviously were.  It would have certainly added more depth to the story.

Getting past all of that, Anax sees Eve for the first time when she is on a mission to buy ribs to keep her bosses kitchen stocked and them happy. There is instant attraction and the foreplay takes place between Anax and Eve in front of her car and continues on to when he picks her up from work with Amyntas in tow. She is as instantly attracted to him as he is to her – he has already called his mother and told her about her daughter-in-law to be – so there is already the fait accompli!

The date leads to an extended sexual romp in bed, VERY extended – it takes days. Good to know that Anax is up for it – both literally and figuratively speaking!! The scene with the stilettos is well worth reading, but I am not sure if it would involve a bit of Twister to accomplish it and maybe also a trip to the ER if the heels accidentally hit the wrong places! 

There was no conflict, no tension – the story followed a straight line and that path led from the first meeting to the bedroom and onwards to its logical conclusion which, as mentioned before, was all a little bit pat.

“Bow Down to the Know” was an easy, fast read and as mentioned it was well written, but it left me wanting more, much more. I would like to find out more about the other characters mentioned in the story as well as more about the backgrounds of the main characters and what really makes them tick. Not a bad read, and I hope that I am able to learn more in future books – I especially feel like Oliver asking for his own story.  I hope that future books give us more – a whole lot more!

Ethan, on the other hand, is an enigma. While Ethan sees past the walls and barriers erected by David, he does not reveal much about himself. With Ethan’s careful probing and astute observations, David undergoes a great deal of introspection which brings to light some startling revelations.

The Trap is an enjoyable read. The slight BDSM theme of the novel mainly explores the Dominant/submissive nature of Ethan and David’s relationship with a little bondage and spanking experimentation. Ms. Wren does a superb job of explaining the Dominant/submissive relationship, and The Trap is the perfect book for readers who are new to the BDSM genre.

The Trap by Indigo Wren is a thoughtful and reflective book which is lightened by humor and friendship. David’s journey of self-discovery is engaging and leads to an uplifting and heartfelt ending.

Perhaps not a satisfying meal but as an appetizer, this novella would please.

I first met Dox who is a person of talent under pressure. He has a unique perspective on things by virtue of his nature. He has feelings he won’t admit to and tries to hide them with some very effective diversions. His drive to survive doesn’t come from the instinct to live alone. I got the sense that he’s capable of much more than he’s willing to share.

Gabriella is Dox’s superior officer and yet I got the sense that she is more. I also felt that she, too, was insecure; not actually in her own feelings but in how they’d be received should she ever reveal them. It’s hard being vulnerable and that’s what I think the internal conflict is; basically it’s the question of trust – the foundation of any solid relationship. The question is, does the crisis that Dox and Gabriella experience build and solidify that trust? A reader will find clues sprinkled throughout the story.

This is a short shot of woo-hoo and for erotic romance readers short on time, this tale packs it all in – drama, emotion, fear, and explosive sensual and unique hybrid-type sex.
