Max’s twin brother, Rye, is the sheriff of this odd little town. Rye is typically the more charming half of the twins. He’s easily attracted to Rachel from just seeing her across the room but as he watches how she handles his brother he quickly loses his heart. Max and Rye have a history of sharing women that hasn’t always ended well. I think you’ll love how their story comes together. They’ll have to come to grips with their need for each other when Rachel’s past catches up with her.

Rachel and the twin’s story isn’t the last you’ll hear of Bliss. Thankfully! The follow-up story, Two To Love is already out and Ms. Oak has noted that she is writing One To Keep right now! I love the characters in this, from the strong title character, to the two totally opposite leading men, and the wonderful supporting cast that make this adventure possible.

Charlotte is that contradiction in terms-a totally feminine woman, who follows her own mind and uses her talent for invention to better her world. She sees what could be done with her marvelous inventions, and so flees to keep the technology safe from those who would abuse it. She is independent, but is not afraid to show her softer side with her men.

Lord Regret knows that Charlotte hold his life, his very heart, in her hands, both figuratively and in fact. He loves her, but cannot offer her more than a life on the run. I like his passion, and that he isn’t ashamed of his weakness for submission. In fact, it is this weakness that makes him all the more likable, when it is revealed why he chose regret as his name.

Sheriff Gil Masters is much different from Lord Regret. He is a revolutionary, wanting Charlotte’s help in the fight for liberty and independence. He also loves her, and offers marriage as his way of keeping her safe. I like that he is willing to do what needs to be done to ensure her safety, even joining Lord Regret to help rescue Charlotte and save her life.

I like Ms. Burkhart’s description of this as a Jane Austen Space Opera. I enjoyed the interplay between the three main characters, and the passion that they shared. There are several surprise twists in the story, and I love the ending, which hints that there will be more from this adventurous trio, as well as more in this brave new world.

Moira is a strong woman. She is confused at first, when Duncan takes her as his mate, but doesn’t complete the mating. She knows there is something missing, but only starts to realize what it is when Jaden returns and she feels complete for the first time. She is smart, and determined to have both of her men, and she schemes at how to make that happen.

Duncan doesn’t realize what is wrong; he only knows something isn’t right between he and Moira. He is the strong Sidhe lord, and thinks it is the distraction of his family’s demands causing the trouble. He knows he wants Moira, but doesn’t realize he also wants Jaden, and that only when all three are together can the Claiming be complete.

Jaden is trying to be noble, and step aside so that the man he loves and the woman he loves can be together. He knows nothing of the tribond, and has no idea that the two he loves most are both suffering because of his absence. He also feels unworthy, because of his less than honorable beginnings. I love Jaden, with his cocky attitude, and self-deprecating humor.

I enjoyed watching Jaden and Duncan come to terms with what they felt for each other, and for the one woman that both love. The family intrigues kept me on the edge of my seat, and the scorching unions between the three main characters had me grabbing the ice water many times. This is one for all who like a bit of danger along with the hot and passionate happy ever after. But beware, there are surprises in this story to shock and amaze you.

Aila has plenty of reason to not trust these men. You’ll have to read the book though to see just how her men finally convince her they are worth her surrender.

A Long Howl Goodnight is a part of Ms. Devlin’s wildly popular My Immortal Knight series. The plot is well developed as are the characters. This short story may not be long on pages but don’t let it fool you. It’s jam packed full of tension-filled sexy goodness that will leave you reaching for a fan!

Still, there is more than enough heat to carry the tale. I didn’t get a whole lot of background on the characters, but it worked because this is an emotionally driven story. Yeah, I needed a cool drink by the time I finished the story. Just when I thought they couldn’t do anything else, bam, another twist I didn’t see.

If you want a book that’s heavy on heat, then you need to read Tattoo Dream. It’s guaranteed to singe your screen.

Combining a Virtue and Power creates some potent mojo all on its own, but adding a lonely human woman to the mix is a sure way to shake loose the knots in the weave of life. Here’s hoping Jessie’s thread is strong enough to take it.

Poisoned Magic

Ummmm….Poisoned Magic is an interesting, if different and disconcerting read. Christine McKay has written a paranormal story of magic, witchcraft, possession, obsession and deceit that also brings out baser human desires. When a young woman dabbles in the unknown to have the man of her dreams, she had no idea what she was asking for. This story is hot, exciting, and will keep you flipping pages as fast as you can, but be forewarned, the ending will probably leave you gasping for breath.

Pierce My Heart

Jessie is a research scientist and has little personal life but when she’s the designated driver for her friends at a sex toys party, she has a strange experience she can’t find a scientific explanation for. This story is quite a bit longer than the first book in this neat little book and sets up Jessie’s life for the reader with a lot of details that at times can make you want the author to just move on and get to the point.

However, it doesn’t distract from the story so much that you don’t want to continue reading. Especially after meeting neighbor, Michael and new lab assistant, Deacon. These two are all the hunky temptation any woman could want and practically have “lick here” written all over them. And then there’s Scott, Jessie’s colleague and friend, who Jessie hasn’t really looked at in any other context. And I’m not going to tell you why, but when you get into the meat of this story, you’re going to fall in love.

Where the first story in this book is very disturbing and not exactly in a good way, Pierce My Heart is its polar opposite. Once I learned of Jessie’s life, her heartaches and heartbreaks, I could identify with her reasons for not wanting to do anything but work.

Christine McKay has always been one of my favorite authors with her frank, friendly, conversational style of writing and I was not disappointed with Mysteries & Magick.

Lemon Kisses is a great introduction to yaoi, the Japanese depiction of a gay romance. These can be dark and painful representations of gay relationships or they can be lighthearted, funny and sweet. Oftentimes there are little notes to reader and fan service with these comics or novels. This book walked the line very carefully between the light and dark and all stories came with a happily ever after. Bitter Fruit was the third story and one of the best yaoi pieces I have read in some time. Set in the music industry, it follows a band that soars to pop stardom and one of the guys in the band, Kin, becomes enamored with their record company/manager, Takai. It’s a dark yet sexy but with a happily ever after.

I enjoyed Lemon Kisses, even though two of the stories weren’t to my taste although you may find differently. I felt each story did stay true to this sub-genre of gay romance and truly entertaining. So if you were looking to try out yaoi, this book gives you a sample of several different sub genres inside of yaoi while being a fun read.

She comes off as severely independent but you just know she is hoping by some miraculous event to find a man immune to her gift. Like Lilly, Dallas has some issues to work thru that have bruised his self-confidence as a leader.

If you’re in the mood for a little sci-fi alien mojo that will scorch your e-reader, you will love A Touch Of Lilly! I think you’ll agree that Ms. Pierce has a very talented voice for menage as well as out of this world action/adventure.
