Review: Cat O’ Nines: Cat’s Claws

Cat O’ Nines: Cat’s Claws
by Lia Connor

Everyone’s heard of the Catkind, right? In the past they kept to themselves, but these days they’re out roaming the country, looking for mates. They’re rough, they’re tough and they don’t take no for an answer.

But who’d want to say no? Not Gabriella, a barmaid in a tiny roadhouse near the Mexican border. All her life, Gabriella has dreamed about a Prince Charming riding in and carrying her away.

Looks like she’ll get double lucky. Not one, but two of the Catkind have chosen Gabriella as their mate and their Queen. Is she woman enough to handle two alpha Cats?

I said I’d do it… and I did! I got my hot little hands on the prequels to Cat O’ Nines: Cat’s Cradle. Cat’s Claws is the first installment of the Cat O’ Nines series from Changeling Press, and it’s quite the start! I enjoyed this novella as much as I did the first one I read. It was a fun and raunchy romp through a pretty interesting world.

Gabriella is charming and straightforward, but not afraid to step into an adventure, even though her sister considers her the good girl. When two gorgeous men step into her family’s bar and hand her the opportunity to experience a night of incredible passion, she jumps at the chance. She doesn’t share many people’s fear of the Catkind, and in fact finds them fascinating and sexy. Which is a good thing as the two Catkind in her bar feel the same about her. Her wicked sense of humor helped her to accept a situation that would send most women screaming into the night.

Derek and Benjamin are the two Catkind who are out to convince Gabriella that she is their mate, the third part of their loving relationship. These two are an interesting study in contrasts, not just in their appearance but in their temperaments as well. Derek made me laugh on more than one occasion, with his bawdy sense of humor and his direct way of approaching what he wants he was quite the fascinating character. Benjamin on the other hand was quite serious, and a deep thinker. His nobility was displayed not only in his lineage but in his outlook on life and his treatment of Gabriella and Derek. His obvious love for his two mates just endeared him to me even more, and when he let go of his control he was quite fierce. These two were definitely blistering in their interactions both with each other and with Gabriella.

When the two Catkind realize that finding a woman among their own people will be next to impossible, and that the Catkind are dying out they set out to find a mate among the human women. Their own “people” are hostile toward the thought of mixing their blood with humans, but these two know it’s the only way to save their race. Their instincts lead them to Gabriella. The last hurdle they must get over is her reluctance to form a lasting relationship.

I had as much fun reading this first installment as I did reading the third (and the second, but that comes later *g*). Lia Connor has quite the knack for turning up the heat, and her characters show their stripes (yes, pun intended) with their raunchy senses of humor and their equal capacity for tenderness and a healing touch. Throw in a bit of intrigue and danger, and you have a great recipe for an excellent story that will get your heart racing. Pick this one up if you enjoy a lot of spice with your danger.

Review: Fairyville

Fairyville
By Emma Holly

Zoe Clare is a medium who has no trouble communicating with the dead-or with real live fairies, for that matter! But she can’t seem to get her feelings across to her landlord-slash-manager- Magnus Monroe, Fairyville, Arizona’s most eligible bachelor.

She’s tired of his erotic antics with every woman in town but her. So when her high school flame returns to town, Zoe is more than a little vulnerable to his charms. How Alex broke her heart is a scandal no one in Fairyville has forgotten. But even if Zoe isn’t ready to forget, she’s willing to forgive. The rules they’re about to break will bring out the jealousy in Magnus-and the astounding truth.

If you enjoy romance stories where the sex is hot because the characters are just that good, then Fairyville is for you. There are four people followed in this book and their stories interlink and twine in a wonderful way that enraptured this reader.

Zoe Clare has a problem. Her manager is a total hunk, but he wants to be friends. Darn it. She wants more but a girl can’t have everything. Why can’t she find someone to love her as she is? What’s so bad about her? I like Zoe’s decision to go after Magnus even after he firmly states that he has no intention of adding her to his once-a-month club. Yes, Zoe is a tortured heroine with a Pollyanna outlook.

Magnus is the hunk in Zoe’s sights and he wants to be more than friends too, but doing so would put Zoe in danger and that’s the last thing he’d ever do. So he deprives himself of the one good thing that’s ever happened to him; admitting and succumbing to his love for Zoe. There are other forces that are hunting him down and she’d be considered as inconsequential collateral damage. So the poor guy has to deny his urges and it’s killing him, especially when a blast from Zoe’s past sails into town.

Alex is the boy who had Zoe right where a guy would wish her to be when they were in school. Alex loved Zoe so much and yet there were these driving passions that proved to be too much for the little town of Fairyville, so he did the right thing and left. Thing is, he never got a chance to have closure with Zoe and it’s haunted him for years. He’s a confused guy in so many ways. On top of that, he’s got the hots for Bryan. Is it possible for him to have the best of both worlds?

Alex and Magnus are perfect poster boys for “tortured hunky heroes”. It has been found that taking the real cialis generic pharmacy then they don’t run the risk of ectopic pregnancy. They have so many issues to resolve that affect not only themselves but Zoe too. She seems to be the sun in whose heated orbit they swirl around and boy, do they burn hot!

Then there is Bryan. He is part of Alex’s torture and his saving grace. He’s a regular guy thrown into a very weird and wild situation yet he finds that loving Alex gives him the strength to survive the craziness he comes to know in Fairyville.

Emma is the only author who consistently puts many people together in a passionate clinch and keeps it real, emotional, tasteful with bits of humor and gives you plenty of heat to make you want to squirm. There is not one scene she writes that I ever felt the story could have done without. All of them were well written and quite thrilling. I absolutely enjoyed the hint of a foursome. Well, it’s more than a hint, but it’s a fairy thing and I’m not spilling the beans on how you can have a foursome yet not. In fact the process of setting it up was quite titillating. And Byan’s choice of paybacks? Wow. I was exhausted after reading it.

Fairyville embodies all that I look for in a romance from Emma. Although her characters have extraordinary issues, they take place in a regular world and that touches me. The passions burn so bright, they could power a chandelier while the heat seared my mind and had me wanting to read behind closed doors. Not that I am shy about reading this. No way. I just didn’t want to be interrupted at the good parts. Lucky for me, there were many. Doubly lucky for me, the door has a lock.

If you, like me, enjoy reading a fun story that has a romantic and fulfilling HEA while leaving you all tingly and hot, then Fairyville delivers.

Review: Mark Of The Vampire Queen

Mark Of The Vampire Queen
by Joey W. Hill

Full servant. With his new title, Jacob must attend to Lady Lyssa’s every need, venturing into a world of passion darker than he’s ever known. As a vampire hunter he wasn’t prepared to embrace a world where humans are sexual commodities, but he has adapted. Now he finds the integrity of his soul challenged as he serves his Mistress’s needs as fully as he services her desires.

He loves her, though other servants warn against giving her his soul. Everyone knows that Vampires have no regard for humans, so why would a Vampiress bother treating a mere sex toy with respect? But Jacob knows a human servant if far more than that. His Mistress needs a warrior, a friend and a lover. A man who will serve her in all ways, even if he has to betray the priceless treasure of her love.

I was so very excited to get this book for review. Having read the first book in this duology, I was so looking forward to the next installment of Jacob and Lyssa’s story. I wasn’t disappointed in this sequel and ending to their love story, although… when is it ever an ending, it’s usually just the beginning.

Joey W. Hill is an unparalleled writer who pulls you into a very dark and sensual world full of danger and political intrigue. Her characters are always in-depth and intricate with a hint of vulnerability in some of them and a bit more in others. Either way, you find yourself rooting for them and hanging onto the edge of your seat as they work their way through. The world building Joey is capable of is simply mesmerizing, and even though her stories are pleasingly lengthy, I never want to come to that last page!

Jacob has finally gotten his Mistress to agree to giving him the third and final mark, despite her numerous and valid (in her mind) objections. He knows where he is supposed to be… right by his Lady’s side! Nothing she can say or do will turn him from that path, especially since he knows they have a soul-deep connection. VigRX Plus is getting popular and popular day generic levitra vardenafil by day. When you take this medicine, cialis cheap fast try at least not anytime soon. Another thing that you have to look at is stress, as that can commonly lead to performance issues. order viagra So, men can overcome a lot of sexual issues throughout their life and many a times fail to viagra prices downtownsault.org have a cure to their problem. Jacob is fiercely loyal and sexy as all get out. His dry and unexpected wit in seemingly serious moments, sometimes completely as an aside or a mental comment, caught me off guard and surprised a laugh from me on more than one occasion. He makes you wish for your own Human Servant!

Lady Lyssa didn’t want to bind Jacob to her completely with the final mark. She knows she is dying (no, I promise I’m not giving anything away) and doesn’t want to take Jacob’s life with her own. That is the depth of the connection between Vampire and a fully-marked Human Servant. She is an incredibly noble and feisty character who isn’t always likable due to the darkness of her nature. She is a complex, intricately “drawn” character who is struggling between desires and worlds; those of her vampire world and Jacob’s human one. As she discovers how much she truly does love Jacob, it becomes increasingly harder for her to push him away and keep him at arms length.

Now, a word of warning! Neither this author, nor this story, is for the faint of heart. While always gripping, the subject matter is not always “easy”, and is quite often rather dark, especially when we start getting into the Vampire politics and “customs”. As the conclusion seemed to draw forth, you may find you want to put the book down… DON’T! Believe me; the ending is well worth it!

In conclusion, I have to recommend this for a Best Book, as I will be rereading this one over and over along with the first installment of this story. Joey W. Hill writes relationships that are so complex, they suck you in and keep you trying to figure how they will turn out. She brings such moments of intensity that your heart is pounding and it’s hard to catch your breath; then tempers those feelings by interspersing such tender, emotional scenes throughout that your heart lifts and you feel the need to sigh. Joey W. Hill is a truly gifted author, and I eagerly anticipate her upcoming stories.

Review: Menage

Ménage
by Emma Holly

When two handsome young grad students move into Kate Winthrop’s Philadelphia townhouse she’s thrilled to think she’ll be sharing her living space with a couple of potential admirers. Then she comes home from work one day to find them in bed… with each other.

Joe – a sensitive composer – is mortified. Sean – an irrepressible bad boy – asks her to join in. So begins a complex three-way adventure that is destined to be fraught with confusion.

This was an intense, sensual journey told from Kate’s perspective. I have long been a fan of Ms. Holly’s and this is one of my favorites of hers. When (not if…I’m very optimistic) you pick this one up, hang on to your seat, because this one will pull you along on one of the most erotic trips you’ll ever have the pleasure of taking.

Kate is a confident, strong-willed woman who knows herself and is content in her life, if not completely happy. She works hard in a business that she loves, and is sure in her sexuality. When she lets her two spare rooms to the young grad students, she has fantasies about both of the hot young men. She’s well aware that the two of them have a relationship with each other, but she’s seen the looks Joe casts her way when he thinks she isn’t looking. When the opportunity presents itself to enjoy the two virile men, she grabs it up. What follows is an incredibly erotic time spent enjoying each other, while she finds herself falling for the sensitive Joe.

Joe is almost painfully shy, and highly sexual. He thoroughly enjoys his relationship with Sean but finds that he is incredibly attracted to his older landlady. Super p Force: The use online cialis like it of these medicines is mostly seen in their Katas. Now, as he finds he’s falling for Kate, he has to convince her that it doesn’t matter that she’s older than him, and she’s not standing in the way of his dreams. I just fell in love with Joe, he’s so sweet in how shy he seems to be, but as he finds his footing in his relationships with both Sean and Kate we get to see a more dominant, sexy side that just makes your hormones hum.

Sean is the consummate bad boy, and as such no one expects that he has as much depth as he really does. His feelings for Joe run deep, but he knows that Joe is fascinated by their landlady. He decides that in order to keep his relationship with Joe he needs to get Joe and Kate together in such a way that he’ll be included in the relationship. While some may think he’s too manipulative, I found that his feelings ran so deep that he couldn’t bear to be excluded from Joe’s life, and in time Kate’s either. While not sweet, per se, like Joe, Sean has his moments of vulnerability that endear him to us. Not to mention the fact that he’s pretty hot, as well!

I don’t have anything bad to say about this book. I loved it, and was even moved by it. Emma Holly’s grasp of love and relationships, no matter how hot, is amazing and I never want her stories to end. Menage was no exception, as the book drew to a close I found that I wanted to know more. I wanted to find out if it continued in the way that Emma hints at. I’m sorry, I can’t tell you more without ruining the story, but I can say that you will love this book! Emma Holly is a fabulous writer of erotic romance and this is one that I highly recommend.

Passion Unbound: Wicked Nights
by Tawny Taylor

If you could be kidnapped by any man, who would it be?

And thus it was from the beginning of time. Two knights. One bride. They whispered their story to The Chosen, a human endowed with the gift of Hearing… The Chosen wrote the story and released it into the human world. The bait was set. The spell was cast. And then they waited… — An excerpt from the lerd Kimeno, the sacred text of the Twelfth Knight Brotherhood

Freelance writer Cheryl Witte loves her romance novels as much as the next girl. Her favorite – Dangerous Knights, the story of two dominant, sexy vampires, Cy and Maksim. To be possessed by two dark and dangerous Masters? One word, yum! But that’s just fantasy. It could never happen in real life… right? She wouldn’t want it to.

Then again maybe it could… and maybe she would.

Cheryl is onto the story of the century, about a portal that allows real men – dangerous and barbaric ones – to travel into the human world and kidnap unsuspecting women. You bet she’s willing to take her chances for that kind of story. A paper cut and a few muttered words could make all her wishes come true, including a cover story in the NY Times. Not to mention bring the men of her fantasies, Cy and Maksim, to life.

She sets up some cameras, arms herself with a tranquilizer, and waits. And waits… until… one minute she’s sleeping, the next she’s dragged into a world of her imagination, to face her darkest desires… and most shocking secrets.

Cy and Maksim have their own challenges to face. But nothing can stop them from introducing their fiery new bride to the rapture of complete submission.

All I have to say about this author is, “Wow!” She sure knows how to build the tension and suspense. I kept hoping that she would hurry up and get to the good stuff… then I’d stop and reconsider, because the build up WAS the good stuff! I find that I’m going back to get the story before this one and then I want to get Ms. Taylor’s entire back list… in time. It is a lot more advantageous to discount viagra online than erection dysfunction. cialis 100mg isn’t simply expanding the blood course with the body it incorporates an extraordinarily positive effect on the heart. Cheryl is a modern, independent woman who thinks she knows what she wants from life. She wants to be a somebody! A somebody who gets the big story, who has it all together and knows where she’s going and isn’t afraid to take the chances to get there. She can’t seem to admit to herself that she’s lonely and a workaholic. When she sets out to capture men that she considers barbarians, she thinks she’ll finally be a somebody, that she’ll get the recognition she wants and she’ll stop these men from “enslaving” another helpless woman. So, when she’s caught unawares and pulled back into Cy and Maksim’s world, she’s a bit put out to find that she really doesn’t know herself as well as she thought. It’s not long before her two men melt her resistance and gain her heart.

Cy and Maksim are polar opposites in every way, except in their dominant natures. They’re none too happy to find that they will be bound to each other when they come to claim their bride. As the decision of who is to mate comes directly from their goddess, they know that they have no other choice but to make the best of the situation. They are both equally surprised to find that they are falling for their feisty bride and for each other. While the issues they need to work through seem insurmountable, they both agree that Cheryl’s health and welfare come before their own discomfort and set about training her and hoping that she will want to be their bride, otherwise, life will get pretty miserable for them all.

The only issue that I had with this story was with Maksim and his seemingly silly objections to why he couldn’t let himself fall for Cheryl and Cy. I can’t say that they always made a whole lot of sense to me, but it didn’t really detract from the story enough to curb my enjoyment of the overall tale. As he eventually comes around, it all works out in the end.

This was a sensual journey into a fascinating world of mythical beings and dominant men who appreciate women in all forms. The true awe conveyed by the author on the part of Cy and Maksim for the beauty of their bride, despite her imagined shortcomings, was beautiful and made me sigh. The “training” of Cheryl was hot and kept me guessing as to how she would react and if she would rebel or submit like she truly wanted to. The build-up of the tension was almost palpable and I have to recommend this one. I would recommend this to anyone who can appreciate the intricacies of Dominance and submission, and who has a love of the paranormal.

Review: Cat O’ Nines 3: Cat’s Cradle

Cat O’ Nines 3: Cat’s Cradle
by Lia Connor

While the cat’s away…

Tony likes to think of himself as a good guy. Nothing special, but a decent enough man. He has his kinks and he likes it kinda rough, but outside of the bedroom he treats his women with respect and makes a good buddy to his friends. And his life, as a result, is in serious need of some sizzle.

He’s about the get lucky.

With his sisters Gabriella and Marnie carried off by the Catkind to protect them against hostile humans, Tony’s left to run their bar, Gatos. He won’t be alone, though – a couple of misfit “alley cat” Catkind named Samaelle and David have joined forces with him and won’t be parted from his side. Or stop coming on to him, either of them.

So what’s a good guy gonna do when he’s saddled with two stubborn sexy Cats? For one thing, learn how to play when the bigger cats are away…

This was a deliciously naughty romp through a rather interesting world that made me want to go back and start at the beginning of this series (which I am in the process of doing!). As a short story it was wonderfully detailed and a fun read.

Tony is your all-around regular nice guy. Which may be his problem, he’s nice, he takes care of everyone and lets everyone take advantage of him, although he’s been burned in the past. He’s a proud man who has taken care of his three younger sisters on his own for a long time, and has kept their bar running despite the fact that it’s in the middle of nowhere and nothing fancy. Although he’s on the lookout for Ms. Right, he keeps attracting Ms. Right-Now and he’s getting rather frustrated. Until he meets Samaelle and David. These pills works same as Sildenafil citrate, this drug discount viagra levitra has maintained all standards of a world class medication. Where the animal experiences shortages or serious ailments in its endocrine system, hyperplasia is needed and activated when the subject’s body detects a need for regeneration and viagra prescription slovak-republic.org additional cell growth. What do you do when two Catkind come to mate? Enjoy every minute of course.

Samaelle and David have had their share of disappointments and heartache. They have grown up as outcasts among their own kind for no other reason than slightly less than regal genetics. When they found each other, they found part of their mated triad, but they knew they wouldn’t be complete until they found their third mate.

Samaelle is a delightful, naughty, and wicked Lady Cat, who knows that Tony is the third person in their triad. She is not ashamed of her sexuality and has quite the way of making anyone in her vicinity want to join in the naughty fun. Her internal dialogue is enough to make one hot, and like any cat she has a very playful side that makes her even more entertaining.

David is the more taciturn of the two Catkind, and no one can really blame him considering his own painful past. As with Samaelle, David is just as comfortable with his sexuality, whether with a man or a woman. In fact, the usual triad has two men and one woman as female Catkind are so very rare, so he’s never had a problem with loving a man, it’s just the finding of the right one that’s giving him fits. He’s content to follow Samaelle’s lead when it comes to “sniffing” out their third mate, but when she makes a major misstep in dealing with Tony, he knows he has to step in and mend the break.

Now, a bit of a warning, this tale is not for the faint of heart. The sex is rather graphic and earthy, but it is hot and appropriate to the story. Some may find the language a bit coarse or offensive, but I found that it didn’t detract from the story and in fact helped us to understand the characters a bit better.

All in all, I had fun reading this one, and even went so far as to find the previous stories so that I could meet more of the Catkind. They seem like such a sensual and wicked race and I just have to know more. I am also looking forward to any upcoming Cat O’ Nine stories as there are some unresolved issues set up in this story that I would love to see the conclusions to. As I said, a delicious, delightful and naughty read that will leave you wanting more.

Review: A Delicious Taboo

A Delicious Taboo
by Jennifer Cole

What do you get when four gay hunks, set out to seduce and lay claim on an unsuspecting straight girl? A sexually explosive weekend complete with intense passion, unimaginable pleasure, delightfully wicked exploration; ending with one very big misunderstanding, that’s what.

Committed to one another and their union, Van Dansk and Calen Maxwell decide to spice things up by bringing a third into their bed. They intend to invite the lovely straight barmaid from the local gay/bi night club, to join them in a ménage a trois. Their equally committed gay friends, Philip Weston and Jake Welland have the same intentions.

Melanie Drake has been secretly lusting over the seductive, teasing group of friends for six months. She’s not delusional however, she knows her infatuation with the two homosexual couples in completely one-sided and is content to keep her ‘love affair’ with the four hunks exactly where it belongs – in her mind.

One night of alcohol indulgence leads the four men to proposition Melanie into going home with one lucky couple. She can’t choose one couple over the other, because in her fantasies Melanie has all four me in her bed, together.
But that’s just a fantasy, and fantasies aren’t real.

Or are they?

Content warning: this title contains explicit sex, graphic language, ménage a trois’, hot naked man-love; some sex scenes include multiple partners.

When I first saw the blurb for this one, I wasn’t real sure how the author would make it work, but I was intrigued. It was actually a very interesting story, and done with a clever balance of humor and insight. Nothing about the story made one feel dirty for reading it, except in the sense of being a naughty fly on the wall. And who hasn’t wanted to be one of those?

Melanie was a sweet, passionate young woman that has had some seriously bad experiences in her life that have soured her toward letting anyone get too close to her. Somehow the four men she sees several times a week have wormed their way into her heart and her fantasies. She feels rather safe in her fantasies as the men are all involved in committed relationships and she’s not a man. Little does she know that they do find her desirable and all four men are more than ready to pursue a relationship with her.

The four men: Van, Calen, Philip and Jake are each distinct, attractive and fascinating in their own individual ways. They are more or less content in their respective relationships, and in fact share a deep love for their partners, a fact that I appreciated. Our skilled and experienced workforce work on this effectively, quality is given prime importance in our lives, sexual viagra 50 mg disorders thus have profound negative impact. They weren’t looking for some cheap thrill, and in fact put a great deal of thought into how adding another person would impact their relationships. They didn’t expect their friends to have the same thoughts about the same woman. When Melanie treats their proposition as a joke, rather than the serious question intended, they realize that they will have to try a different tact. They’ll have to share her.

I found that once I started this story, I couldn’t put it down. I wanted to see how this unique situation was handled, and I have to say that it was handled quite well. I didn’t feel that any of the love scenes were awkward or made me feel uncomfortable, which in itself is quite a feat considering the subject matter. The men are incredibly sensitive to Melanie’s needs and a certain scene where they find out just how terrible her past has been illustrates this perfectly. That alone made me want to snuggle up to them! The sex scenes kept me panting for more, and Ms. Cole definitely delivered. As the warning stated, the subject matter may make some people a bit uncomfortable, but I felt that it was handled quite well and made for a hot and interesting story. You’ll need something to cool you off after you finish this one, but it’s so worth the effort.

Review: An Honoured Wife

An Honoured Wife
By Viola Grace

One male Xarit, An Honoured Wife, a death, and two new husbands? Sounds like quite a week for Emily.

Emily has been abandoned by the Alliance on a planet inhabited by a race so alien it is toxic to her. Despite their differences, she has become the honoured wife of their chief.

When a shuttle caught in a comet’s tail falls to the planet, it is up to Emily to rescue the inhabitants. Her talent for precognition is a liability as she foresees the inhabitants of that shuttle becoming her mates. Both of them.

Will she leave her status behind to become the mate of two men she doesn’t know? Or will she remain on the planet to stay An Honoured Wife?

I have to say right off that this story had a decent storyline and was entertaining. It was set in a sci-fi fantasy world where Emily is content, if not happy, in her role as Honoured Wife to the tribal chief of the Xarit. As the Xarit are not physically compatible with humans, or Terrans (they are in fact poisonous to humans) the title of Wife is in name only. Her precognitive abilities are not very strong, but they do give her glimpses enough of the future that she knows to expect the two men she knows are her true mates.

The two male characters, Tabor and Vallej, are twin brothers of a race that is compatible with Terrans, and therefore with Emily. They had been sent to rescue her, but find themselves caught in the same comet tail that originally crashed Emily’s ship. They also knew beforehand that they were destined to be mates with Emily, if they could successfully rescue her from the planet she had disappeared on. When all three meet, the bond is unmistakable, and they set out to fulfill that bond.

I did have issues with this story. I felt the writing didn’t flow as well as it could have. In some areas it seemed rather stilted, and more informational than inspired. The love scenes between the three (yes, I said three) of them were definitely hot, and read a little easier. I realize that when the story is so short it is rather hard to get enough detail and descriptive phrases in to satisfy ones creativity as well as needing to get the information across that is needed to further the story, in that aspect it was well done.

However, despite the bumps, I enjoyed this story. It was entertaining to see how Tabor and Vallej reacted to the differences between their culture and Emily’s. It was touching how the two men were willing to bend over backwards for Emily when they felt she was upset. I really loved the concept of being so attuned to someone else, as the three of them were, and that it was actually a ritual and part of their culture to bind themselves closer than just physically. All in all, I enjoyed this story and would recommend it to any lovers of paranormal romance looking for a quick, fun read.

As unnerving as she found the dark, devastatingly handsome, and infinitely mysterious Simon Draken, however, Raina also found him so compelling, so magnetic she could no more resist him than she could will her heart to cease to beat.

Rating-Carnal-adult language and situations, multiple sexual partners

This book, Dragon Lord by Kaitlyn O’Connor, grabbed me by the heartstrings and the lust-0-meter was in the happy zone.

I’m thinking of re-reading it almost immediately. I can not tell you the last time THAT happened. So pardon me if I wax poetic.

Don’t let the “multiple partners” scare you off. Kaitlyn handles this with grace, caring and the story ultimately appeals to the die-hard romantic in all of us.

The above synopsis doesn’t give you a hint of the roller coaster emotional ride you’re about to embark upon once you start reading. Raina is a woman who’s been on her own for years, a graduate of the foster care system. She’s a survivor with a plucky wit. Her coarse vocabulary lends itself to some wonderful dialogue between the cantankerous housekeeper as well as the body guards Mr. White and Mr. Green. There were even laugh out loud moments, especially the hilarious scene with the soup on the floor. I liked Raina because she’s a woman not afraid to follow her heart, no matter where it leads her.

Simon is the perfect tortured hero. Oh my gosh, did I feel pained for him. His loss, his desperation and loneliness spoke volumes to the inner nurturer inside me. I wanted to save him, but Raina gets that honor.

Audric is just as tortured for different reasons. Always in Simon’s shadow, he’s had to step aside once before because he had the misfortune to love the same woman as Simon. Is he doomed to lose Raina too?

And what’s with the strange eyes, you ask? There’s an awfully good reason and you get to travel to another planet to find out all about it.

This story has everything I love in an erotic romance book, but the strongest element is the romance. It pulled my emotions until I experienced joy, worry, excitement, laughter, amazement, suspense and even a healthy dose of sexual appreciation for how both Simon and (yes, AND) Audric please Raina. And before you raise your eyebrows and scoff at what that sounds like, please know that Kaitlyn handled it with charm and sweetness. I appreciated how she handled the dynamics of their relationship and I think you will too.

As for the HEA? It hit every high note and tied up all the lose ends in such a satisfying way, it had me sighing in pleasure. This is a keeper folks. Make no mistake, this is romance all the way, with the erotic kick thrown in for extra edge.

I’ve read some of Kaitlyn’s other stories but Dragon Lord is hands-down the best she’s written so far. And that’s saying something.
