After the first few pages I realised this was one of those “disengage your brain, sit back and enjoy the ride” style of stories. I found it rather unfathomable that Scarlett could treat being kidnapped at gunpoint by an escaped convict with not just aplomb but a hint of confidence and keep her self-assurance intact. It just didn’t feel at all realistic to me. Once I simply enjoyed the story as a fun, sexy tale, however, I really started to get into it. Scarlett had quite a sad history and I was really pleased she hadn’t let it ruin her character. While I definitely felt she was in a sort of limbo, I was equally glad that the author didn’t short-change Scarlett from the effect her trauma would have had on her life, personality and outlook. I thought this was balanced quite well, Scarlett not being a shut-in, but similarly not having ignored it and been a glittering happy-go-lucky kind of woman.

Ryker is the classic “bad boy been framed” and we as readers are assured he’s good deep down. Scarlett is a strong, independent, curvy and utterly capable woman and I’d love to have her calmness under pressure and gunpoint. The chemistry between these two quickly sparked out of control and I loved the sizzling sex scenes exploding between them. Again a fair amount of suspension of disbelief was needed, but the fun and joy I got from reading the sexy story far outweighed my desire for a believable plotline. Hot and sexy – these two characters certainly burned up the pages and made the short story quite enjoyable for me.

Readers wanting a realistic, logical and relatable story might not find this book suits their needs. But for a fun, sexy and dangerously (but not) bad boy tale could find this as enjoyable as a readers-escape as I did. Sit back with a glass of bubbly, grab a handful of cookies and enjoy the ride. This was a fun and pleasurable way to pass an evening and I enjoyed it.

It was clear to me that she wasn’t malicious or vapid, but just like Carrie from Sex and the City annoys me after a while so too did April feel a little two-dimensional to me. Thankfully though, April’s character did an awful lot of growing and exploring and I really started to get on board with her little journey of self-discovery with Rory. My only other slight disappointment was the conflict between Miranda and Dan felt rather over-blown to me, though I definitely understood the plot-related purpose it served.

Overall though I found this to be a fresh, fun and different story and feel readers who enjoy chick-lit style stories should really love this. I also appreciated how April and Rory had a slow-burn to their romance, giving them (and me) time to grow into the blossoming relationship. The sex was hot and lovely – but was only one small aspect to the story so readers who like more plot and characterization to the stories should definitely find this appealing.

A fun and happy sort of book, this was a lovely quick read and one I enjoyed.

I found this to be a steamy short story – full of delicious sex and sizzling lust. I thoroughly enjoyed the chemistry between Jessica and Alex and found the speed of their hooking up believable due to their long childhood friendship. Readers looking for a heavily plotted book might not find this story as satisfying as others – most of the storyline revolves around Jessica and Alex reconnecting and exploring their new, sexual relationship. There is a small amount of family-based plot/conflict but it’s fairly brief and I didn’t really feel like it added much to the story.

I did, however, really enjoy both Jessica and Alex’s characters. Each were different and interesting in their own ways – strong and capable and more than willing to hold their own ground. I found them both modern and believable and enjoyed watching them try to both renew their childhood friendship while simultaneously deepening it to add a very adult, sexual aspect to their relationship. I also had a bit of a chuckle about the small-town-ness of the secondary characters around them, which added another good element to the story and I felt this also gave it some depth.

For a fun and very sexy short story this was a good read.

There is a near-rape scene at the start of the story that I found a little shocking and which took me by surprise. The prologue was very sweet and a little funny and so jumping directly from that into the almost-rape was quite jarring. While certainly not lurid or overly-graphic, it’s a serious scene along with the after-effects (hospital, doctor and police questions etc) and considering the prologue is quite light and happy I really felt that a little more time blending the story from that idyllic “childhood first meeting and becoming friends” scene into Abby being assaulted by a co-worker would have made the transition far less jarring. I have to admit though, after the shock of the opening scenes I felt that the story settled back down into a happy, mostly light-hearted friends-to-lovers style of story like what I was expecting. I enjoyed the banter and camaraderie between Abby and Jack and felt they had a good connection and when they started to admit their feelings for each other I thought there was good chemistry between them.

I also enjoyed how there were small snippets of flash-backs to Abby and Jack’s childhood growing up together. I could understand how this time-jumping back and forth might not be every reader’s cup of tea – some will love it as I did and others I can believe will find it jarring and annoying. Personally though I felt the flashbacks helped make the story better and showed me more depth to the solid and life-long friendship between Abby and Jack.

There are plenty of other wonderful characters – Jack’s SEAL buddies in particular – and I’d happily read more stories about these other delicious men. I thoroughly enjoyed the author’s happy, slightly snarky/sassy writing style and overall I really loved this book. A solid read with plenty of action, conflict and tension and just enough delicious heat to spice the romance up this is a well rounded book and an author I plan to keep an eye out for.

Marshall and Aaron truly do love each other and there’s plenty of conflict and tension between them. Marshall had faked his death and the two men had so much history – and so much of their love still simmered below the surface – that I was pleased they could both move past their hurt. Marshall and Aaron’s characters were deep and intense and I really enjoyed them. Franklin – Aaron’s father – was a bit more of a mystery, an insidious Godfather type of bad guy who was determined to forge his path and kill (literally) everyone who got in the way. Franklin’s character felt a little more cartoon-ish and overdrawn to me, but that didn’t really detract from my enjoyment of the story as Franklin was merely the “in the shadows” bad guy. The plot and most of the story really revolved around Marshall and Aaron and their reconnecting.

I found the sex scene to be intense and well-timed – Aaron and Marshall had built up to it and the scene didn’t feel to me like sex just for the sake of it, but a genuine reconnection. Readers looking for a lot of arguments or a deeply intricate plot might be a little disappointed. Aaron and Marshall and their reunion and building up again of their intense relationship is prominent to the storyline, along with the two men escaping various contract killers and assassins. I found the resolution of this storyline to be deeply satisfying and well written.

Overall this is a great short story and one I enjoyed. I really loved both Aaron and Marshall’s characters and was so glad they got back together. This left me happy and feeling satisfied and was a great read I know I’ll enjoy again in the future.

I found this to be a lovely, slow-burning style of love story. While there are a few steamy sex scenes, I feel most traditional romance readers should find this a good, slow-paced style of story and not find the descriptive sex too overpowering. Almost the whole story revolves around Viv and Britt and their helping their friends, Abby and Nick, throughout their wedding. The pace is easy enough I found myself half way through almost wishing for the wedding to be over so I could see how Viv and Britt dealt with reality and “normal” life – not while they were constantly thrown together with the million and one pre-wedding duties they both needed to do as Best Man and Matron of Honor. While the preparations and wedding itself only took a few days it really felt to me a bit like a soap bubble out of time and each of their real life, so while their attraction and connection during this intense time together was great, it didn’t give me a lot of confidence of how they would build a solid and lasting relationship that would remain steady outside of this small space of time.

The characters of Viv and Britt were interesting and had a number of complex layers that I really liked. I also loved the strong cast of secondary characters, Abby and Nick, their team-mates and family. I could easily see a number of future characters for follow-up stories down the line and wouldn’t be surprised if there are more of these to come. While the sex was graphic I didn’t feel like it over-shadowed the story itself. There was a lot of story both before and after the main intimacy and this helped it feel a lot better rounded as a story to me.

While I would have preferred to see Viv and Britt develop their relationship a bit more outside of the wedding setting, this was otherwise a great, slow-burning and character-centric story that was both sweet and spicy. I feel it should appeal to a wide range and readers and I’ll be interested in further stories to see some of the strong secondary characters develop.

Their first meeting was funny, short and super fresh – to my mind at least – and stands out to me as an excellent and different meeting. I was also pleased (though privately skeptical) that Alistair was adamant that they didn’t immediately have sex but get to know each other a little first. While I’m doubtful about the realism of this, I again found this fresh and different enough that it captured my attention and kept me glued to reading each page quickly.

Fun and sexy with just a nice hint of kink I didn’t feel the BDSM overwhelmed the storyline. Had I picked this story up wanting a deliciously hot and kinky BDSM relationship I likely would have been left disappointed. While Alistair and Sandy do dabble I found it quite light – only one scene of sensation play and a light spanking scene. For a romantic and sensual story with a hint of kink this was great, but as a BDSM-style relationship story this could be somewhat lacking to some readers.

I found this to be a happy and fun, quick read, and it’s mostly realistic, frank manner of describing sex and the rushed, modern type of world we live in had me laughing aloud in places. I enjoyed how the author didn’t shy away from talking about gushing orgasms or the ickiness of rolling over in the morning into the wet-patch on the sheets. Graphic and sensual this isn’t the kind of story that I think will appeal to readers who prefer their romance soft, sweet or wrapped up in a pretty bow. Personally I found the blunt talk real, relatable and quite reflective of the life of a modern woman.
