Life is good for Eric Brown. He’s a senior theater major, an RA for a freshman dorm, and has a great circle of friends. Single since sophomore year, Eric isn’t looking for love. But then Will Butler—fellow senior, co-RA, and the cutest guy Eric’s ever seen—walks into his dorm. Will has a girlfriend he sees off campus—a minor disappointment that becomes a major problem when a housing shortage causes Will and Eric to become roommates, and Eric is forced to witness Will’s hotness day in and day out. For protection, Eric asks Jerry, his ex-boyfriend, to pretend they’re still together. Jerry warns him it’s a stupid idea, but he reluctantly agrees.

Too bad it won’t save Eric from losing his heart.

Will Butler has never believed in himself. His dysfunctional family saw to that. Although Will has loved music since childhood, he’s never seriously considered pursuing it, and the person he’s dating doesn’t encourage him. Then he and Eric Brown become roommates, and everything changes. Eric believes in Will and his talent. He’s also gorgeous and playful and fast becoming Will’s best friend. And that’s not good, because Will is hiding some big things, not only from Eric, but from himself.

Eric and Will are co-RA’s, both thrown together and sharing a room due to over-crowding. Despite the fact that Will’s straight and seriously hot and Eric is gay and annoyed at the attraction he feels, the two men work together well as a team and both enjoy counseling and helping the kids under their care.

I found this to be an interesting and emotional read. I really loved how Eric and Will didn’t just hop into bed together, indeed for most of the first half of the book Eric didn’t even know Will was bi. For the readers there were a few flags to my mind that indicated Will’s life and character wasn’t as clear-cut as he portrayed to Eric, but I really enjoyed the journey through the school year as Eric and Will learned more about each other. I also really enjoyed how there was a strong cast of secondary characters, Eric’s bff and ex-boyfriend, Jerry, Eric’s family and the hovering shadows of Will’s family – these all helped the story feel more fleshed out and realistic to me.

While I normally enjoy a slow-burning romance I did feel in places, especially the first half of the story, that the romance blossoming between Eric and Will was just a little too slow. While there is some chemistry from Eric’s perspective most of the book is from his point of view so it was a little harder for me as a reader to grasp exactly what was in Will’s mind and how he was truly feeling. This was a small niggle, but one that did detract a little of my enjoyment of the story. It added to the tension and conflict of the story, however, so I can understand where the author was coming from, it just wasn’t ideal from my personal perspective.

While there is a bit of steaminess toward the end of the story I didn’t personally feel this was a strongly erotic, explicit story. Readers looking for a load of sex and descriptiveness might not find this story satisfying in that respect. While I admit I would have enjoyed Eric and Will getting together a little earlier in the story and exploring their chemistry and the physical side to their relationship a bit more I have to admit that watching them interact as friends and get to know each other platonically really was interesting and I did enjoy that.

A fun and happy short story this is a great college/coming-out style of story that has interesting and vibrant characters. With a slow pace and very happy ending this was a lovely read.

Hunter is the only man I’ve ever loved.

Sam and Hunter had been best friends and team-mates for years, but Sam was out and proud and Hunter was so far in the closet not even Sam knew his true desires. But as Hunter’s world comes crumbling down the only person he can turn to is Sam, but they have a lot to work out between them.

While this is a very short story I was surprised at the amount of back-story and emotion the author has worked into it. I found both Sam and Hunter to be well fleshed out characters and their interactions together conveyed to me quite a strong and extensive history together. Each chapter alternates between Hunter’s perspective and Sam’s and I ended up having mixed feelings about this. While I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know both characters on a deeper level and I definitely felt this helped me connect better as a reader to them both it did feel a little jumpy to me – switching back and forth between the two men. The pacing of the story also felt a little disjointed to me, with the first few chapters having a very strong sense of info-dumping to help catch me up on the huge back-story between Hunter and Sam. Then when their relationship really started to progress the pace slowed right down as their intimacy took over. This made the pacing feel a bit choppy to me and while I enjoyed the shift in focus from the plot to the physical relationship between the men I feel the author could have merged the two aspects of the story a little better.

I thoroughly enjoyed the realism of both men’s characters. As a somewhat famous sportsman I fully understand it had to have been extremely difficult for Hunter to come out – especially considering his family background as well. Both Hunter and Sam were interesting and macho characters and I found myself invested in them and their relationship very quickly. The sex between them was also smoking hot – with each of them having been in love with the other for many years. Add in the conflict of a crazy ex-girlfriend and national media coverage and there is plenty of plotlines twisting together to form an interesting story that I overall enjoyed reading.

I feel this short story has a lot to recommend it and two interesting, sexy characters that captured and held my attention. With a sweet and very satisfying ending I enjoyed this story and would happily read more by this author.

When Nita is called out of the blue by Martin Hawley she recognizes his voice instantly as her mysterious dream-lover. Only this isn’t a dream anymore, and Martin is looking into some very shady characters and Nita’s instincts for news is telling her that there’s far more to this story than she realized at first.

Told in the first person perspective I really enjoyed this short story. It felt a little to me like one of those “confessions of a …” stories but at a really fast pace. Nita’s fantasies are interspersed through the story and I was surprised that I actually enjoyed how craftily they were woven into the fabric of the story – to the point where at times I had difficulty working out what was dream (or fantasy) and what was reality. To my mind, Ms. Douglas is to be commended on some exemplary writing in that respect.

While not a paranormal tale in the traditional sense – there are no witches or shapeshifters here – there definitely felt to me a sense of Otherness that didn’t have a clear, logical explanation. The lines between which parts were real and which parts were fantasy remain blurred, and there isn’t a complete explanation to some of what occurs in the final scenes of the story. While I, personally, enjoyed this aspect to the story, feeling like it gave the whole tale an almost ghostly kind of feel, I do wonder if some readers might not enjoy the possibility that some questions remain not clearly answered.

Sexy and hot, I thought this was a good short story. With some paranormal-ish elements I feel that it’s a good read for a foggy night when the air is crisp and cool and just a little spooky. With a cracking pace, an interesting plot and some raunchy characters this ticks a lot of good boxes to my mind.

Seth might be a werewolf but he’s a pretty shy guy. When a hot new guy moves in next door Seth has an amazing crush on him and doesn’t know what to do about it. Seth has what he feels is a brilliant idea and gets his best friend, Max, to introduce Seth to Jack while Seth is in his wolf form. Things understandably get rather crazy from there, but can Seth and Jack find a way to make it work between them?

I was a little surprised at how slow moving the pace of the romance was considering this is a short story. While the chapters are short, Jack doesn’t even come onto the scene for the first few chapters, and then Seth takes another few chapters to work up the courage to ask Max to introduce him to Jack. Usually I’m a big fan of a slow-building romance – two people just jumping directly into bed normally doesn’t feel very real or believable to me – but it’s the build up, sexual tension and to-and-fro that I love to read, all the preliminaries helping to make the romance itself seem real and sexy. Instead, with this short story, a lot of the beginning of the book is spent showing Seth and a number of the other pack members interacting before Jack moves in. While this was some great world building – and likely excellent for readers interested in other stories in the series – it felt a little wasted to me since I was mainly interested in Seth and Jack’s story and their romance.

While I felt the romance really does move slowly – especially for an erotic story – I did enjoy the fact that this wasn’t a simple “two men meet and fall in lust” style of story. Seth has a complicated history and a number of layers to his personality which I really enjoyed learning about in a slower manner. A part of me would have loved to see at least some of this relationship progress from Jack’s perspective – even though for most of the story Jack had no real idea that it was Seth he was getting to know. While there is an abundance of paranormal world-building I honestly did enjoy the fact this wasn’t a simple or easy book – it was complicated and full of all sorts of real-life struggles and more than a few laughs.

I don’t feel that readers looking for an intensely erotic story will find enough heat to be satisfying here. While there’s oodles of chemistry and quite a few sweet and tender getting-to-know-you moments, there’s no actual consummation between Jack and Seth in the story. Personally I was satisfied with this not being a graphic story – so much of the plot was Jack and Seth working out how they could come together and fit when they were both from vastly different worlds. But as an erotic romance story I would well understand if other readers might not be as happy with the lack of sex in the story.

A heavily plotted and strongly paranormal story this book is full of great, multi-layered and interesting characters and a well thought out shifter pack and small town. With plenty of funny and tender moments I enjoyed this story and would happily read more by this author.

Eager to do her duty and help out, she turns to Colin for his unwitting assistance. Margaret has loved Colin her whole life, and he secretly has feelings for her too. Can they survive the danger and find their way together?

I admit that I’m still a fairly new reader to the whole Steampunk genre. This is only the second novel set in that sort of world that I’ve read and it still takes me a moment to adjust my brain when I read “airship” and “mechanical gears in his brace” and other associated things thrown casually around in the text. I admit the genre is growing on me, but it still takes me a bit to think about what’s written and imagine what the author is conveying. It’s still not an easy, comfortable reading style for me but I admit to liking the world-view more and more.

That said, I really enjoyed Colin and Margaret’s story. While I didn’t fully understand Margaret’s initial instance on keeping Colin in the dark about her secret mission (she was coming to him for help because she trusted him – therefore NOT trusting him with the truth seemed paradoxical and a bit silly to me, personally) I did almost instantly like Margaret as a character. I found her a good blend of both modern and historical without being too clichéd and so both liking her and feeling able to relate to her put a very good slant on the story as a whole for me. I also really loved Colin’s character. Wounded, strong and having the freedom (as the third son) to tred his own path I was both relieved and thrilled that I found Margaret a suitable match for him. All these things rolled up with a bunch of espionage action and this turned quickly into a fast-paced, thoroughly enjoyable story for me.

While the plot wasn’t precisely new – that whole well-worn “secret mission for the crown and people getting shot left and right” – I personally found it handled quite well, and with interesting characters, a new-to-me Steampunkish world and a curious blend of modern and history it all worked well and kept me eagerly turning the pages.

Readers who enjoy spy/thriller stories and who aren’t sure about Steampunk should definitely give this one a try. I’m quite glad I did and honestly enjoyed it – even if the modern/mechanical Steampunk references threw me now and then. Margaret and Colin had a lovely romance and shared a number of steamy kisses. I was pleased that they were intimate, but while the scene was graphic it wasn’t over the top or written in a titillating manner. I found it gentle and loving and sensually written and I feel most readers should enjoy the scene.

For the most part a wonderful action/adventure/spy style of book this interesting Steampunk story had a great romance between Margaret and Colin and should appeal to a wide variety of readers. Recommended.

I found this to be a fun and happy short story. I loved all the silly mayhem in the haunted house and loved the heat that’s generated almost instantly between Trex and Josh. I found the romance between Trex and Josh moved a little fast – but really couldn’t blame the author as this is a very short length story. Despite the speed I did enjoy how genuinely connected Trex and Josh came across to me. This wasn’t just a quick fling and Mr Right Now style of story – I was pleased that the two men seemed to have a solid spark and both were interested in building something more longer-term than just a few rolls in the hay.

I also thought the author didn’t skim on the Halloween aspect to the story. Instead of the holiday being just a part of the backdrop I felt it was really thoroughly integrated into the plot and that helped sell me on the story as a whole. It also meant this short story wasn’t just about Trex and Josh – but about them starting some new traditions and enjoying the holiday as well.

Fun and happy, I found this to be a lovely short story.

Finally finding the antique store that bought the item, he speaks with Madison and the two of them try to retrieve the painting. Only Madison discovers that the painting really is important – to herself as well as Zachary’s family.

I found this to be an interesting short story. While simple in some respects, I enjoyed many of the complications in the plotline, finding that it changed what could easily have been a regular time-travel story into a far richer tale. I was also really impressed that Zach’s grandmother wasn’t just a token character, we got to hear her side to the story as well.

Madison was quite a relatable character to my mind, broke and struggling to make ends meet. I sympathized with her confusion when she was unexpectedly tossed back over a hundred years in time and was impressed that she managed to not get herself run out of town as a witch or crazy woman. A part of me was a little disappointed that the short length of the story made the back-and-forth in time travelling feel a little rushed. I couldn’t help but think that the author maybe should have give a little more detail to this section of the book because upon initial reading it felt somewhat confusing and I really think having that part fleshed out a bit more would have made the story far richer to read. I was relieved that there was quite a decent length explanation toward the end, summarizing up the entire chain of events or else I might not have fully pieced the sequence together.

Readers looking for a strong romance might find the relationship between Zachary and Madison not quite as fulfilling as they hoped for. While the two are clearly destined to be together and enjoy a lovely happy ending – the bulk of the story is talking about how they come to be together. Aside from a few chaste kisses there is no physical intimacy between them and indeed the story finishes pretty much as soon as they connect and get together. A lovely story, I found this more geared towards readers who enjoy time-travel novels with only a slight dash of romance. Readers who enjoy the romance and relationship to be front and center might not find this story as appealing.

With a strong plot and plenty going on – I found this to be an interesting and complicated time-travel short story.

He insists they can’t leave Missouri behind without one last adventure. Mitchell agrees to a road trip to visit all the touristy spots and say goodbye to their home state.

As they spend their days and nights together, buried feelings rise to the surface and hope blossoms. When their journey ends with a dance beneath the Branson stars, will they find love and a future together at the end of the road?

Having finally graduated, Mitch has been enjoying his summer holidays for the most part. He’d almost made the entire way through college without telling his room-mate and best friend, Craig, the true depth of his feelings. And then Craig, knowing they were both at a loose end, had suggested a road trip. Mitch knows it’s a bad idea, knows the deep desire he feels for Craig will probably shake loose, but he can’t resist one last chance to spend time with the man he’s fallen in love with.

I found this to be an interesting and fun road-trip style of story. Admittedly, there’s not much to the plot – Craig and Mitchell have been secretly in love (and lust) with each other for years, both of them too worried about the guy-code and their solid friendship to rock the boat and admit their feelings. But with college finishing up and both of them moving to opposite coasts of the country for their new jobs they each become determined to come clean about their feelings for the other. While I did enjoy both characters, what really made this book memorable for me was all the tourist-traps and experiences the boys shared together on their road trip. I found it a little ironic that I presume this part of the story was meant to be the “filler” but to be honest I found it refreshing, different and interesting and while the romance and two main characters truly were good – without the road trip and tourist attractions this would have possibly fallen into “just another friends-to-lovers” style of story for me.

With a lovely and friendly third wheel, plenty of chemistry and mis-communications between Mitch and Craig and a whole lot of driving and fun, I found this to be an interesting and well-paced story. I thought the sex was sizzling and wonderful but personally I found it more sensual and steamy rather than strongly erotic. The chemistry and passion between the two guys was undeniable though and I feel most readers should be very satisfied with the heat level. I did feel the two guys could be really confusing sometimes with the circles they’d talk themselves into. While I had no problems following along with the story and enjoying the ride a part of me did wonder why two guys who were best friends and had been room-mates for years had such difficulty expressing themselves to each other. Even with the mis-communications between Mitch and Craig – and some really tall tales being told to strangers – I was very happy with the way the two boys came together finally and the way their story is left.

With a wonderful happy ending and some very sensual, steamy sex this was a great story and a brilliant road trip that I enjoyed.

I found this to be a mostly sweet, fast-paced short story. I’ve enjoyed a number of other stories by this author revolving around this dance studio and various classes and am pleased that this story is another great addition. I was really pleased that Moira and Alan didn’t simply jump at each other – or start some crazy, passion-filled fling. I felt very clearly the author’s intention to show that Alan and Moira, while relatable and each ready to fall in love, made slow, understandable progress as they got to know each other better become more attached. While the pace of their romance was a bit slow it felt very real and completely relatable to me. This made it all the sweeter to my mind – making me really feel as if I was catching up with some friends and hearing about how they met and fell in love with “the one”.

While there is a ton of attraction and chemistry between Moira and Alan, there are only a few kisses and the bedroom door is kept firmly closed. While it’s made clear they become intimate toward the end of the story there is no descriptive love-making, so I feel this should definitely appeal to romance readers of all ages. With plenty of drama and action, as well as a lovely Argentinean adventure, this is the sort of story that makes me sigh and happily daydream about sultry and amazing adventurers, globetrotting around the world.

Just when they are all going to finally find perfection together, Edlyn is called away, and now it is up to Vincent and Ivan to find out exactly what she is hiding from them and tell her that there is only one way that this is going to work. She is theirs, and it is damn time she knew it.

But will Edlyn’s secrets tear them apart before they even get started?

This is an interesting and fast-paced short story with plenty of plot and characterization. It’s told in the first person perspective, which I usually don’t mind, but this particular story jumps from Vincent’s head to Edlyn’s and I found this frequent shifting a little disorientating to read. I understand why the author did this – I have a strong feeling that setting the entire story from one character’s perspective wouldn’t have worked well as the threesome was complicated as it came together. But that said, the frequent jumping from Edlyn to Vincent’s perspectives told in the first person made the story as a whole feel disjointed to me – as if I was rushing back and forth between two people as they told one story and kept chopping and changing every few minutes. This didn’t feel like a normal, smooth and easy to follow story and while other readers might feel differently, for me, personally, it lessened my enjoyment.

All three main characters though were interesting, layered and I found myself quite easy attached to them. There were quite a few mysteries and questions surrounding Edlyn’s past and both Ivan and Vincent as characters which was explored along with some seriously smoking hot threesome sex. For such a short story there really did feel to me like a number of different layers and plotlines all converging together at the critical moment. I was pleased – though a little surprised, to be honest – that the ménage sex didn’t come until the second half of the book.

There is a lot of quite serious plot in the first half of the story. Being brutally honest, after the emotional highs and lows I experienced reading through Edlyn’s tragic secrets and the effort Ivan and Vincent go through to discover them, I wasn’t really feeling in the mood to read about sexy, adventurous threesome sex. There are quite a few delicate subjects raised – child kidnapping and child-abuse amongst other things – and so I don’t feel it’s a stretch to imagine other readers might need a quick breather between reading about the deeply emotional history Edlyn unveils and the smoking hot ménage sex that occurs shortly afterwards.

That said, the sex really is deliciously written. I personally needed to get up and have a break before reading it – I needed time to mentally assimilate and catch my breath from the deeply charged and emotional story Edlyn told. I wasn’t ready to switch over into some erotic reading immediately after that. But once I’d caught my breath and cleared my head I enjoyed the intensity and emotion between the three main characters.

With a serious and interesting plot and some smoking hot threesome scenes this is a well-rounded story with plenty of bite. Readers looking for a light or fluffy read won’t find that here – but readers willing to explore something a little harder and more intense might find themselves pleasantly surprised.
