I found this to be a fun and interesting short story. I was particularly pleased that Charlie and Liam didn’t just jump immediately into bed and get all hot and heavy with each other. While there’s plenty of chemistry and flirting, I felt the longer “getting to know you” part – and also particularly a little father/daughter time with Liam and Portia – really helped round out the story and give it a feel of more than just an erotic short story. Strong on the characterization of Charlie and Liam in particular, this book wasn’t just a few sexy scenes strung together but really felt like a story of two men in completely different places in their lives finding each other and falling in love. I really enjoyed it and found it highly satisfying as a well-rounded story.

Once Liam and Charlie become intimate I found the sex to be both prolific and hotly written. While there is an age-gap between Charlie and Liam I didn’t feel it overbalanced the connection between the two men and I certainly didn’t feel like it created a power imbalance. Charlie was certainly a grown up man, who had just graduated college and had already had a few hard knocks in life and knew what the world was about. At no stage did I feel he was portrayed as an innocent or sheltered young man nor did I feel like Liam in any way took advantage over him. The two men were well suited and while admittedly at completely different stages in their life and possibly looking for very different things, I really felt like they were well suited. And there was enough chemistry between them to singe the pages.

A hot and fun, quick read this was a great short story and an author I’m rapidly growing fond of. A great story and one I will happily reread again in the future.

I found this to be an intriguing and interesting short story. While I personally felt the first half of the story was a little slow – I can’t fault the author for adding so many rich details of the VR experience Nate had and the slow set-up of Nate and Jason’s relationship. The fact it started as a VR “game” or experience was central to the plotline and while I really felt the sequence of Nate and Jason getting to meet for real moved slowly I really feel the author couldn’t have sped it up much more without losing the importance of the plot. To be fair, with such a rich “history” between them, when Jason and Nate meet together in real life I thought the pace (and chemistry) skyrocketed and made the initial slow burn totally worthwhile.

While I normally don’t need complete realism in my reading – I love a good coincidence and vastly prefer a good plot to hard, cold, dreariness that is day-to-day life – I did feel that Jason flip-flopping between quitting then not-quitting was a bit unrealistic. I wasn’t sure why this bugged me so much, but when I really thought about it I felt it made Jason seem a bit flighty to me, like he couldn’t commit solidly to something once he’d made up his mind. I feel had the author really wanted Jason to stay in his job instead of quitting he should have simply had the argument with his boss, or possibly threatened legal action or forced his boss to put their agreement in writing – there are a number of other methods Jason could have stood his ground rather than quitting on a whim, then later accepting the boss offering his job back. The whole situation felt strange enough to me that it made me pause reading and really think hard about it – effectively jolting me completely out of the story and my enjoyment of the relationship potential between Nate and Jason.

With some seriously hot and smoking sex scenes the latter half of this story fills every promise of an explicit, raunchy M/M romance. There’s a small blip where Jason and Nate have to face the reality of their actions but their bond and attraction to each other soon has them finding their way together. With a deliciously hot and happy ending I felt this was a great, quick read with plenty to offer most readers. I found this to be a good story and one I really enjoyed.

I found this to be a really interesting read. In many respects Blakey isn’t at all interested in moving on from his deep-seated love of Elizabeth. While the woman in question has been dead for five years, Blakey is extremely closed-minded about even considering moving on from her. To some degree I can understand this – many people who have loved so deeply can’t fathom filling the void in their life with someone else. So while this situation is very realistic, it’s also completely different from most romance stories. For more than half the book, Blakey is adamantly against even considering becoming serious about another woman, refusing to let Elizabeth slip back into his past and out of his future.

Aisleyne was also a far more complicated character than I initially expected. When she opened up to Blakey about her past and some of the pain that resided there I was happily surprised and impressed that she wasn’t as simple as I’d originally expected. Aisleyne and Blakey’s “romance” was very non-traditional and different to the others I’ve read in this series. I actually enjoyed that this story was more about the emotional aspect of a relationship – of dealing with loss, guilt, betrayal. There were a bunch of complicated decisions where there’s no easy or correct answer, like how and when it’s time to move on, or how to let go of the grief of being left behind. So much of this story was driven by Blakey’s dealing with these issues there was very little kink or sex to it. While I understand some readers might feel this lack – personally I enjoyed the far richer, deeper complexities that were discussed and opened up.

I thought this was an intensely emotional, complicated story about two people trying to find their way together after both suffering deep grief and loss. While there are a bit of sexy shenanigans the emotional aspect of this story is very strong and readers looking for a mainly kinky, erotic read mightn’t find what they’re seeking here. But with a rich cast of characters and an author not afraid to tackle the harder elements of real life, I feel this story is well worth picking up.

I found this to be an interesting and very realistic style of story. Even though Joe is far from a traditional heroine, I had to admit she was real. She had problems and she didn’t deal with them in a very mature or safe way – but that’s what life really is like for so many of us – making mistakes and learning from the things we do wrong. Readers looking for a warm, happy and comfortable read probably won’t find what they’re looking for here. But once in a while I think it’s refreshing and important for us to read something a bit grittier, a bit harsher and more realistic – and in that sense this kinky erotic romance fits the bill perfectly.

After being so very badly burned by her ex, I can somewhat understand Joe shutting Nathan down so hard, but I couldn’t help but feel it a little unfair of her to try and mentally tar Nathan with the same brush. At times, particularly at the start of the story, Joe came across to me as rude and harsh – not just gun-shy or still burned by her ex and overly cautious. I understand that it’s a very fine line the author has to walk, and I completely wasn’t expecting Nathan to cast Joe one hot look and for all her baggage and insecurities to simply melt away. I do struggle, however, with characters being rude and impolite just because they’ve been hurt in the past. Joe walked a little too close to being outright rude for me to instantly warm to her, and this coupled with her wild behavior meant she wasn’t an easy character for me to relate to in the very beginning.

Having said that, I loved how deeply complicated Joe was. Her character wasn’t a traditional or straight-forward one. She had many layers – some of them not at all pretty – and while not easy to read or relate to at times, it made this whole story really different for me and it certainly stretched my boundaries. I also really enjoyed how Nathan was nothing like what Joe assumed him to be. Watching him prove to her, over and over again, that he could satisfy her unlike any of her other hook ups was delicious. There’s a fair bit of kink in the story that should definitely satisfy readers who like some heat and spice to their story.

A different and very interesting read, this was a great story.

Firstly I have to give major kudos to the author for writing a strongly emotional and sensitive story about a woman going through breast cancer. I imagine it couldn’t have been at all easy to write and this absolutely won’t be a comfortable or good read for everyone. While not dwelling on the negatives and I strongly feel it’s written in an empathetic and emotional manner, neither does the story shy away from the upheaval of emotions and strain Phee goes through as she learns about, then has surgery and deals with her breast cancer. In some ways the growing romance between Phee and Pete is actually secondary to her experience and going through the cancer treatment. There were quite a number of small things – Phee’s reaction to someone touching her breast, Phee’s short mood changes, and the like – which really struck me as fine details that added considerably to the realism of the whole situation and it’s clear to me the author was at pains to research as much as she could and make this story reflective of what so many women go through. Of course everyone’s experience is different, but I really feel the author did an amazing job and it certainly struck a chord with me.

Phee and Pete had some delicious chemistry working between them. I was really pleased both that Phee gave Pete a chance, but also that Pete knew how to allay Phee’s fears and show her that she was still a smoking hot, desirable young woman. That cancer wasn’t going to steal everything away from her. This was a lovely high point in amongst a lot of the pain and sadness. I was a little disappointed that Phee fell so far into her own doubts and paranoia. A part of me felt there was already so much conflict and tension in the story her allowing Pete to help her and stand with her when the crunch came would have made this story really shining and beautiful. Phee pulling into herself right in that moment was the only major down-side for me during this story and I’m not personally convinced it was necessary to go down that path.

A hugely emotional read, I feel that this story is excellently written. There’s a strong cast of secondary characters and both Phee and Pete are multi-layered, well drawn and deeply engaging. This is a lovely story full of highs and lows and a total roller-coaster to read. The sex is a little kinky but nothing too outlandish as the cancer and Phee’s journey totally (and rightfully – to my mind) takes center stage. A lovely story and one I shall enjoy again in the future.

At no stage did I feel like one or the other was getting short-changed. The tension of having a crazy psychopath out on the loose and chasing after Nicole felt real enough to me that it didn’t feel like a plot-device, but a genuine source of conflict and worry for Nicole’s safety, and therefore of both Trey and Jordan in their roles as police protection. I also felt the chemistry between the two men and Nicole added a good layer of sexiness to the whole story without overdoing it. The three of them didn’t simply hop straight into bed, but progressed in a more natural way from trusting each other to becoming more intimate. I thought this really helped guide me along as the reader and made the relationship and dynamics between Trey, Jordan and Nicole feel more realistic.

Nicole had some extremely modern thoughts on sex and romance which took me a moment to process. While I enjoyed her strength and freedom of thought I also found it a little sad just how vulnerable it made Nicole seem to me. I was pleased both Trey and Jordan could see through Nicole’s attitude and understand the complexities underlying it. My only slight quibble with the story was the speed with which much of the plot was wrapped up and some of the coincidences that needed to align for it. Given the short page-count I totally understand the author couldn’t drag things out or have a complicated trail to follow for the conclusion, but this did leave me feeling like the plot was a little rushed toward the end.

The sex was hot and prolific, to my mind. I enjoyed that Nicole was intimate with both Trey and Jordan separately before they got together as a threesome. While a ménage is clearly where both Trey and Jordan wanted to head from the beginning I actually was pleased that Nicole was attracted to each man independently and was sexually interested in them both – that one wasn’t just a “tag along”. This helped me feel like the ménage began and worked on an equal footing which I really liked.

While I don’t think reading the previous installments of the Team Paladin series is strictly necessary quite a few of the secondary characters are from the previous stories and so I think I got a lot more from Zach and Micah’s interactions with them because I’d read the earlier stories. That said, I think I’d classify Zach and Micah’s romance story as being a stand-alone, but the world and wider range of characters really is part of the larger series as a whole. I enjoyed seeing the progress the township had made and it was like a quick catch-up with old friends seeing how the many other characters were progressing.

Zach and Micah’s romance was fast-paced and very sexy. There’s a bit of conflict which I personally felt was a little clichéd – albeit very understandable. I enjoyed seeing Zach and Micah face and conquer their personal concerns and demons and find a way to settle together and start a loving and trusting relationship. The sex was hot and explicit and I feel readers who like a bit of spice in their erotic romance should find it very satisfying.

A quick, hot read this is a great addition to a very good series.
