Can Aerial Bonné, a free-spirit psychic, and Frank O’Malley, a skeptical cop, work together to solve an abduction that happened over thirty years ago?

She’s all about feelings and wants a fling with no commitments. He’s all about protection, strength and being in control.

The bad guy kidnapped a little girl, who’s now his “daughter”. Over the years, he’s become increasingly paranoid and believes every conspiracy he’s heard about. Now he believes Aerial is plotting against him.

Even though they’re falling for each other sparks fly when things go wrong, will his job, her temporary visit in Minnesota and the bad guy keep them apart?

Aerial had been having a series of strange, disturbing dreams and much as she wanted to she knew she couldn’t ignore them. Aerial had worked a few times with Frank when the policeman had been working certain cases, but this time Aerial and Frank might both be ready to finally take a chance on each other.

I really enjoyed this paranormal story. Aerial is not a young woman – her grown-up daughter gets married in the opening scenes of the book – and I loved how the story was completely outside the box of what might traditionally be classified as a romantic story. I was really pleased that Frank didn’t automatically ignore or down-play Aerial’s visions or instincts. I could totally understand how a character that needed to be as pragmatic and linear-thinking as a police officer could brush aside things like psychic dreams or seeing aura’s, but Frank was open minded and willing to listen. I felt this openness really helped progress the story and really highlight the ways in which Frank and Aerial were compatible.

Readers looking for a thriller-style of story should, I feel, find this totally suits their tastes. The snippets of Aerial’s dreams were equal parts creepy and enlightening to my mind. I felt they added a lot of tension and conflict to the story without being too over the top or unrealistic. I also really liked that about a quarter of the way through the story the author began to show us things from the perspective of the protagonist. I can appreciate how some mystery/thriller readers wouldn’t like having the “bad guy” unmasked so early on in the story, but personally I felt this really added depth and perspective to the entire plot. I often feel the “why” aspect of any storyline is equally important to the “who” part. By seeing the situation from the protagonists eyes it gave me a lot deeper understanding of what was occurring from his side of the story and I felt this really added complexity and depth to the whole book.

While there were a few coincidences that I feel might have been better smoothed over or explained in more depth, but overall I thought this story was complex, well paced and very well written. The romance between Aerial and Frank had a deliciously slow pace to it. I enjoyed that the two characters got to know each other first and then had a few chaste dates and kisses before moving things into more intimate areas. While the sex between Aerial and Frank was explicit I don’t feel it should be offensive or too over the top for most readers. Also, I felt strongly that the romance in the story was secondary – the focus far more strongly upon the paranormal themes and the mystery of Aerial’s dreams and the cold case of the missing girl.

With an interesting set of characters, a lot of ambiance and a wonderful, convoluted plot this was a great mystery that I really enjoyed reading. I’d definitely read more by this author.

Determined to shake off the last of her failed relationship, Brie swears to take the next available opportunity to dive into a quick, casual fling. When Dean, a neighborhood boy she remembers fondly from her past, plows the driveway Brie is determined to not let this chance meeting pass.

Fun and seriously sexy this “snowed in” style of story was a delightful, quick read. The fact Brie and Dean knew each other from childhood vacations in their families cabins helped keep the near insta-lust that flared between them within the realms of possibility. But readers looking for a deep, complex and slow-burn style of romance won’t find that here. I can understand the author’s desire to keep the pace moving fast since this is a very short story, but a part of me would have liked a bit more time spent on the emotional connection between Brie and Dean, not just their chemistry and physical attraction.

I found Brie to be a completely relatable character, with worries and insecurities and her failed engagement was far enough back in her past to make her determination to move on totally understandable. Readers who are happy to disconnect their brains and roll with the sexy shenanigans should find this explicit and steamy romance to be a bundle of fun. While most of the story revolves around Brie and Dean reconnecting on a physical level, I was pleased that toward the end of the story they talked a little bit, though a part of me would have liked a bit more depth and connection to this part of the story.

With a delicious Happy For Now style of ending and enough steam between Brie and Dean to melt the snow surrounding them, this is a lovely reunion style of snowed-in short story. Readers looking for a quick, explicit and intense story should find this suits their needs and is a lovely fast read.

After a family crisis, Katie Hathaway must return home to help out in the family’s ice cream shop. She leaves behind her dream job of teaching ballroom dance to spend her summer scooping ice cream and mixing milkshakes.

Chaz Hollander, Katie’s high school crush, has also returned to town to work in his family’s business. After Katie treats him to a blueberry swirl sundae, he invites her to the town’s upcoming dance. The only problem is he has two left feet.

When Katie starts giving Chaz dance lessons, their chemistry ignites, and the postponement of her dream doesn’t seem as ominous. But financial woes and a suspicious business deal cast a shadow on their budding relationship.

Katie was ecstatic when all her hard work paid off and she was given a job at the dance studio. Excited to share the news with her family, she rushes home only to find out that her mother has broken her arm and Katie is needed to help run their ice cream shop during their busiest month – and so she needs to put her own dreams and ambitions on hold for a while longer. When she finds her old high school crush, Chaz has moved back home also, Katie is pleased but cautious when they reconnect.

I enjoyed the older style of this story. While the plotline was fairly simple and straight forward Katie’s character was interesting and I found myself quite drawn to her and the hard decision she made to help her family. There is a very strong cast of secondary characters that I felt really helped boost the story – with Katie’s mother and two sisters, as well as the hunky Chaz. The romance was slow and quite sweet with just a few steamy kisses – as I feel anyone should expect from a romance story set back in the 1950s. I enjoyed the small-town feel of the whole story, how the community knew each other and gossip spread around like wild-fire.

The scenes of Katie teaching Chaz to dance was sweet and really helped sell me on how well the two characters meshed together. It also helped show me – without any sexual intimacy – how they had chemistry and how the attraction wasn’t just one-sided on Katie’s behalf. I felt the author did an amazing job of showing (not telling) the romance and this really helped me love the story more. I also liked how there were multiple aspects to the plot – Katie helping out her mother and sisters and the drama with the ice cream shop was an excellent counterpart I felt to the romance blossoming between Katie and Chaz.

A strong and character-centric story, this was a great read and one I can easily recommend. With vibrant characters, a few good, strong plotlines and a lovely slow moving romance this story is one I feel sure will appeal to many readers.

Even though Laniey had worked hard to keep herself safe eventually her luck ran out. By chance she met Nolan exactly when she needed a helping hand, but can Lainey learn to trust when the world has ended?

While I can totally understand in the current climate readers might not be in the mood for an apocalyptic “strange virus kills a large percentage of the world” style of story, I just couldn’t help myself. I’ve enjoyed plague stories my whole life and even though I prefer this storyline in my fiction and not my real life – I couldn’t resist reading another plague-related story. I admit to being pleased the author in no way tried to make this based on Covid-19 – the plague started in a car accident in Atlanta (a CDC worker in the crash had samples of the virus that were released) and the symptoms were bleeding from the eyes, nose and mouth. So this helped solidify the story as fiction and not like anything going on currently in our reality. This definitely helped me enjoy the story more.

I was really pleased that Lainey didn’t just fall over herself when she met Nolan. Even though he clearly was a good man and just wanted to help her, Lainey insisted on not lowering her guard, which I couldn’t blame her for. The world was a totally different place and it’d be stupid to just assume because someone did something nice they didn’t have any other motive. Admittedly this didn’t lend much of an air for romance, but I enjoyed watching Lainey and Nolan come to know each other and slowly develop feelings. It made the romance much slower paced, but it made their whole relationship a lot more believable and relatable.

Readers who like plenty of conflict and action should really enjoy this story. I was pleased the plot moved in a logical and quick pace – Lainey and Nolan coming to a bargain where he’d help her build a decent and safe wall and then she’d get him a solar-panel ATV for transportation. I enjoyed watching their relationship deepen and the trust grow between them along with their romantic feelings. The story had a good overall pace and plenty of action. While the ending wasn’t a cliff-hanger this is absolutely part 1 of an ongoing story. This part of the arc was well resolved but readers who enjoy everything neatly wrapped up might feel mingled emotions in that the next stage forward is clearly set up but readers will have to wait for the following installment.

With good characters, a totally believable story line (even though it’s the end of the world) and a fast-moving pace this was a great story I really enjoyed.

Petra was a curvy, full-figured woman, but after losing an eye and the resultant scarring she’d closed herself off from almost everyone. Only Drake – her bodyguard – had appeared to see beneath the surface, but Petra is reluctant to trust him. Is Drake really what he seems?

I found this to be an interesting and emotional read. Drake in particular was a complicated character with mixed priorities. I was really impressed with how the author turned the usual “hidden motives and telling lies” plotline utterly onto it’s head. It made the entire story feel really fresh and different to me, despite the fact the set-up was rather clichéd. Really early on having the way I expected the plot to unfold was turned inside-out and I loved it. This change-up also really helped me relax and enjoy Petra and Drake learning about each other and slowly come together. I loved how they were both strong and loyal characters and I deeply believed they were well suited to each other. This really helped sell me on the realism of their romance and I was rooting from them as they came together.

There is a healthy amount of conflict in the story and I was pleased this came from Petra’s family and not Petra and Drake’s romance. I really enjoyed watching Petra grow in her self-confidence and how over time she grew to trust Drake. I also thought Drake was wonderfully patient, which really made him seem like hero material to my eyes. Readers who enjoy a slow-romance with heated, erotic sex scenes should find this story really fits the bill for them. With a few twists and turns to keep the plot fresh and interesting I found this a refreshing read and one that managed to surprise me in a good way at a few points along the way.

I found this to be a good and happy read. Recommended.

He has to keep Ellie for life or kill her. Will Ellie give him the chance to prove to her he loves her?

Ellie had lost three jobs in a week and feeling sad let herself be talked into going to a bar with some of her friends. Not interested in dancing or hooking up for a quick fling, she’s surprised when a hot, handsome stranger approaches her at the bar. Antonio had known the moment Ellie walked in that she’d be his. Innocent and sweet unlike almost every other person he knew, Ellie drew him and Antonio was not a man who let anything get in his way.

This is a fast paced and very steamy, explicit story. Disconnect your brain, grab a large glass of wine and sit back to enjoy it. Readers looking for a logical, rational or realistic story absolutely won’t find that here. That said, Antonio is the epitome of dark and dangerous, a killer bad guy and Ellie is a seriously relatable regular woman who normally toes the line and does the smart, sensible thing until one night she suddenly decides not to. Antonio and Ellie’s characters are interesting and easy to get hooked on.

In some ways this is quite a dark story. Readers who enjoy the style of Mafia and Mob stories – where domination and darker emotional elements are vivid and quite strong through the entire story – should find this suitable and really well written. This won’t be a good fit for all readers. Even though Ellie has no desire to enter a serious relationship with Antonio he makes it virtually impossible for her to deny him and he somewhat forces her compliance into a new apartment and into being his girlfriend. While she comes around eventually – and from the beginning is sexually attracted to him – I’m not sure the non-physical pressure and almost bullying tactics Antonio employs on Ellie will be every readers cup of tea.

The sex between them is hotly explicit and quite prolific through the story. I was really pleased that both Ellie and Antonio both began to build an emotional and romantic relationship together even though that’s not what either originally intended. While this isn’t your traditional romance story I was pleased that there were a few romantic threads woven into the story that helped keep it from being a harsher or far darker story than I usually enjoy.

Dark and complicated, this won’t be every readers cup of tea but I feel it will absolutely appeal to readers who like more of an edge to their romance or enjoy the Dark Mafia style of erotica really popular right now.

This is a fun and quick read. I enjoyed the banter between Laney and Alex and could see why they had struggled to make their marriage work the first time around. With fast-paced writing and a dash of humour this should be a story that finds a wide range of readers who enjoy it. Told in the first person perspective by Laney I did wish a few times that I could fully understand where Alex was coming from and what he was really thinking and feeling. Although I could tell things would resolve in a happy and positive manner it was a bit tricky to really see or feel that in a few places and I strongly suspect that knowing what Alex was feeling could have made this easier on me as a reader.

I was really impressed with the plot of how Laney and Alex worked together to solve their mutual problem with the potential blackmailer. I felt while still realistic and interesting the author had an awesome “outside-the-box” solution and it really kept my interest throughout the short story. I also enjoyed seeing a little of Alex’s actor lifestyle and felt this really added dimension to the story and kept it from being just a “estranged married couple work on their relationship” style of story. This quick read had depth and some lovely surprises that kept me eagerly turning the pages.

A strongly plotted and well-written story this was a great quick read and an author I’ll happily check out again.

I’ve been an Amanda Quick fan for many years and was a little surprised when I realised just how long it’s been that I’ve been holding off reading this new kick-off of hers – away from the Regency/Victorian Historical setting and into the American 1930s. I feel mentally Amanda Quick to me signifies one of the best authors in the historical romance genres and she’s set the bar quite high. While I adore the 1920s and am fairly flexible in my reading likes, older American settings have never really been a passion of mine so I’ve been hesitant. Therefore, this book has languished in my to read pile.

Such a long enforced-indoors stay, though, (thank you Covid-19) had me curious enough to crack this open and for the most part I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it. I was both thrilled and relieved that the writing has retained the high standard and easy-to-sink-into aspect that I associate with Amanda Quick (and her contemporary alter-ego Jayne Ann Krentz) and this story has reiterated for me, personally, that this author could write virtually anything and I’d find it largely readable.

The Girl Who Knew Too Much is way better than “largely readable” but I admit it wasn’t quite the gold-standard many of Quick’s earlier novels were. The characters were excellently drawn and familiar with intelligence and subtle good looks and keen to use their brains and skills rather than just coast along. I also felt the plot was very well woven and there were a few threads all linking up together really strongly and it kept the pace moving while giving the story a good sense of being rounded out. I admit the old-style Hollywood aspect to the story was interesting but never really grabbed me – though I freely admit this setting will likely appeal strongly to a large number of other readers. Quick does an excellent job of infusing the story with the sense of that golden era of Hollywood and the Art Deco/extravagance and historical setting of the 1930s and California in general. I strongly feel it was my own personal tastes that simply had me not as enraptured by this aspect to the story – Quick has done an amazing job with the writing and for readers who enjoy this style and setting should find it wonderful to sink into.

As is often the case with Quick (and Krentz) the setting and world she’s built was as addictive as the hero and heroine. There were a number of very strong secondary characters (Luther and Willie most especially) that I would have loved to see more of in subsequent books and I’m glad I’ve got the next already purchased. While there are a few intimate scenes written between Oliver and Irene I don’t feel they’re hot enough to be a turn-off for most traditional romance readers. While descriptive, they are a very small aspect to the story and I feel they are very tastefully written. The emotional relationship and romance between Oliver and Irene is a strong aspect to this story but I feel the mystery/suspense is equally strong and very prominent. I was really pleased that both sides to this story are well balanced and – to my mind – given equal weight throughout the story. This is the sort of book I wouldn’t blush to recommend to my mother or an elderly relative.

Readers who enjoy historically-set novels with both a strong romance and equally strong mystery should really enjoy these. Fans of Amanda Quick’s other novels should definitely give this a whirl as I was vastly pleased her change in time and setting has not dulled her talent one iota. A good book I will enjoy re-reading.

Troy is a confirmed workaholic and he knows he should take more time for himself but he’s just never managed to do that. He finds some incentive when he meets Dee at a Christmas party he’s networking at, but neither man was expecting to find something serious or so special together.

I really enjoyed this full length story. While Troy and Dee get intimate extremely quickly that’s not too unexpected for a heavily erotic story like this. Even though I didn’t find the near-immediate intimacy realistic I was pleased that the progression of Troy and Dee’s relationship was emotional and a lot more fulfilling. I greatly enjoyed getting to know Troy and Dee’s characters better as they learned about each other and found this really helped even out the pacing of the story as a whole and made it a lot more logical and relatable. Troy had a little bit of a hidden (even to himself, I believe) streak of submissive in him. Readers who aren’t a fan of BDSM shouldn’t be put off by this – I felt the handling of that side to the story was given a very light touch and I was pleased with this because it added an extra element to the story – and the sex in particular – but it didn’t detract from the main element of the romance and relationship building between Troy and Dee.

There’s a small but very strong cast of secondary characters – primarily surrounding Troy’s family members. Readers should be aware that one of the smaller sub-plots involves Troy’s much younger sister being in a difficult situation. While I personally found it tastefully and sensitively handled and this is a very, very small part of the story I feel some of the issues raised might be polarizing or difficult for other readers to have addressed in a steamy, erotic story.

While this is the third book in the series (Troy is the eldest of triplet boys and the previous two stories revolve around these two brothers) I easily picked this up by itself and had no problems happily following along despite not reading the other two books. I got a good kick out of Troy’s family members and felt they added some much-needed depth and dimension to the story and I was pleased with the added plot they all lent which helped keep the book from being purely about Troy and Dee and their relationship.

While very heavy on the sexual element between the two men I found myself really enjoying this story and read it very quickly. Readers who enjoy a lot of sex and passion in their stories – along with a light bit of kink and a side-dish of family shenanigans should find this a fun and interesting sexy read. I enjoyed this story and it will be going on my keeper shelf, for sure.

This is a fun and very sweet children’s story. The illustrations were brightly colourful and I enjoyed how they were consistent and really showed clearly the story graphically so smaller children should easily be able to follow along as the adult reads the words. I also liked how the story itself was written simply but still conveyed multiple items in a sentence. I feel this is a story that children will relate to and enjoy and can be a good tool for adults/parents to teach kids why it’s important that they take care of their possessions.

I feel the age range for this story is about right – kindergarten and prep for children to be read the story by adults and Grade 1 and Grade 2 level the children should be able to read it themselves, but I feel the strongest part is the lesson parents can explain to the children about how why taking responsibility and care of possessions and pets is important. I feel this story is strong because it’s clear and simple but has a critical lesson underpinning it.

Brightly colourful and with a simple but important message this is a great story and one I enjoyed.
