This is the next installment of the Beer and Clay series. While it’s sensible to have read the previous stories it’s not strictly necessary. The characters are well-introduced and there’s not a massive amount of background to info-dump on the reader. I feel anyone could pick up with this story and still enjoy it thoroughly. I loved the better understanding we’re given of both Peter and Christian as individuals, and the deeper look we’re given into their relationship. Both men have been active in Damon and Toby’s lives in the previous books and I’ve been keenly interested in Peter and Christian for a while now. Here, we’re finally shown a lot more of both men and I’ve loved this.

I really love what a complicated character Christian is. Peter is perfect for him, but Christian still has such a story to tell. He’s a wonderfully wounded ex-soldier, one who is new to the whole Dom/sub lifestyle and has plenty to learn about the life and himself. His journey is fascinating to watch and I dearly love his character.

I loved exploring both couples’ relationships deeper and learning more about all four characters. There are some satisfying plot conclusions, but readers new to these books will easily be able to pick up from here. A strong, hot read and one I plan to enjoy rereading many times in the future.

While at a first glance it might look like a typical “horny solider gets the girl” story I found it to be more than that, and ten times hotter than other, similar, stories. I loved the chemistry and connection between Jaycee and Tyler and will happily reread this story a number of times more. Recommended.

Unwilling to allow herself to become mired in the rivalries of her old high school days, I also respected Jodi for rising above the petty jealousies of her old classmate.

I really enjoyed how both Nick and Jodi discussed both the past and their potential future, reconnecting with each other emotionally first. There is no descriptive/explicit touching or intimacy in this novel, which I also found refreshing and helped me focus more on the emotional connection between the two characters. This might be a short story, but I had no problem feeling the emotional bond between Nick and Jodi. I felt the author did a great job with their chemistry and attraction. There is also some light conflict with old rivalries, but nothing to impede Nick and Jodi to getting back together.

Overall I found this a happy, hopeful and warm read, one sure to leave a smile on many a readers face. I found the characters to be gentle and soft, and the sweet romance to be one suitable for all ages.

This is a lighthearted, fun short story. I found Regis to be a delightful character and enjoyed seeing him try to hook Mars. The whole story read like a really fun antic to me – the dusty history professor tries to become a cool and edgy gamer boy sat really well with me. The author is to be commended to my mind, they made the whole tale feel like an adventure. Even though Regis tells quite a few fibs – embellishing his non-existent gamer skills – I still never really felt as though he was being deceitful to Mars. Regis acted like himself, told the truth whenever he could manage it, he simply pretended to be a lot better at computer games than he really was. I fully credit the author’s writing style and the overall feeling of lightheartedness for making this “deception” completely palatable to me. There is an excellent skill to make me as a reader feel as if while Regis clearly wasn’t being truthful, neither did I feel as if he lied as such.

Clearly this is an M/M romance story, but while there is plenty of chemistry and a few hot kisses, there is only the one fully consummated scene. While explicit, there is not an over-abundance of description here. The bedroom door is left open, but I didn’t feel the scene was dragged out or overly dwelled upon. Romance reads who aren’t upset by a M/M romance and enjoy some spice in their stories should be well satisfied with this single scene. There is a great twist at the end – one I saw coming but still had a lovely chuckle over nevertheless, and I was left with a strong sense of satisfaction.

A fun, happy story about two men meeting each other and starting a wonderful relationship together. Recommended.

I had a lot of sympathy for Lisa, I found her to be a very relatable character. Alex was a bit more elusive to me – more of an actions rather than words man – and I would have enjoyed getting to know his character a bit more. The attraction between Alex and Lisa was undeniable though, and their simmering chemistry was always going to explode when they jointly began to care for little Jason.

I thought the conflict in the book was a little clichéd, but it certainly helped nudge the plot along and help cement the relationship between Alex and Lisa. The sex was graphic and the chemistry between Lisa and Alex smoking hot, but I feel it was also written tenderly enough many traditional romance readers will find it deeply satisfying. There’s nothing extreme or envelope pushing here, and I feel many readers will enjoy this extra spice to be the perfect culmination of Lisa’s giving herself to Alex fully.

A well written, emotional read, this is a wonderful short story that should appeal to a wide range of readers.

Settling back into “regular” life is just not what she imagined, and soon it becomes all too much.

This is a very emotional, heart-wrenching story on the difficulties faced by those returning home from war. Kat clearly has PTSD but is unwilling to seek help for it, determined to face it herself. After a near-accident, Kat is forced by her family to start seeking the help she needs. It’s not an easy fight for her and I found myself both drawn into her struggle and desperately hoping Kat could find the strength needed to help herself. I didn’t find this an easy read, and especially think romance readers looking for a happy, soft, pleasant book might not find this particularly satisfying. While strongly emotional, I found it realistic and uncomfortable to read.

The plot surrounding Kat’s grief over her lover’s death is also another sensitive issue. It’s not common for a romance heroine to have had an affair although I do think the author has done an excellent job of explaining Kat’s reasons and the difficulty of the position she’d been in. Even so, it was hard for me to feel sympathy for Kat struggling with her marriage in crisis and the serious issue of lack of communication between Kat and her husband. While they are both clearly to blame for their relationship issues, it has been Kat who was unfaithful, and this lessened my sympathy for her. No one deserves the emotional and physical distress she’d survived, but it was hard for me to feel a strong connection with a heroine who acted in such a manner to the family she’s left back at home. That said, this is certainly how I could perceive the reality of a soldier sent out to fight in the war. Life isn’t easy or clear cut and each decision has its own ramifications. Trying to come home and live a “normal” life is fraught with all manner of problems, and these are clearly and vividly described. The very fact this was such a hard read for me is proof of the authors talent, and perhaps once in a while we all need to be reminded that real life isn’t easy, simple or comfortable. In that respect, this is an excellent book and reminder of that.

A powerful, emotional read, this will not be to every reader’s tastes. I found the characters very life-like and while not sympathetic, I certainly felt invested in both them and the story.

This is a strongly written, well plotted erotic story. I enjoyed the author’s voice, and felt instant compassion for Jason and Heather. I was pleased Heather hadn’t put her dead husband completely out of her head, especially at the start of the story we see a lot of him through her thoughts – how she and Darren would have loved to play a huge party at Jason’s resort, the Blowhole, back when Darren was alive, or how difficult she found even the thought of submitting to someone other than Darren, the only man she’d been intimate that way with. It showed me that Heather had come through the grieving process, but made her feel a lot more empathetic to my mind. Yes, she’d loved Darren and lost him and she’d gone through the dark stages of grief, but she was ready to try and stumble her way back into the light and a full life again. This was an excellent set-up for me and I appreciated the author balancing the past and readiness for the future just right.

While I felt some of the conflict in the plot was a little clichéd, I really enjoyed how much of the tension and problems between Jason and Heather were poor communication through the bondage aspect of their relationship. Trust and a strong byplay and verbalization of everything is often critical to the highly emotional, and potentially risky, scenes. So while outwardly it seems simple to keep an open line of communication between partners, Little Rainbows reminded me just how elementally important such a thing is. And being able to back-track, to be honest about why they hadn’t admitted their insecurities and come back stronger really made me pleased as a reader and made me feel the connection between Heather and Jason grow stronger in a realistic, albeit simple manner. I really enjoyed that.

This is a well written full length novel. There is a huge amount of emotion in it, and a strong relationship being built from the start. The sex is tasteful and hot – and lavishly written. I enjoyed the plot, but found particular pleasure in Heather and Jason working through – together mostly – their issues and problems. This isn’t a traditional romance, but I feel strongly it will connect with many erotic romance readers.

This added quite a bit of tension between them, and while I could understand, it lessened the impact for me of their chemistry. I really felt for Nathan – who had been treated horrendously by an ex-lover. He’s everything I love in a cowboy hero, strong, loyal and steadfast. Angie was a little harder to read. While she seemed outwardly like a typical happy, sexy city girl, there were hidden pockets in her past and with her family that we learn as the book moves on. I was also a little sad she felt at times she couldn’t be honest with Nathan. While it was always for an understandable reason, someone as hurt as Nathan had been previously deserved the truth and respect. This diminished my enjoyment of Angie. I loved the setting of the book though, that wonderful small town feel and with a strong cast of family on Nathan’s side there were plenty of funny antics and happy moments to offset the tension.

There is a strong cast of secondary characters whom I thoroughly enjoyed, and clear links to past (and hopefully future!) books. The sex was hot and steamy. Spicy enough I’d not share it with my mother, but not outrageous or envelope pushing. I’m intrigued enough by Nathan’s family and the cast of characters that I will look into other titles by this author. Overall I really enjoyed this book. A few bumps couldn’t diminish the love and chemistry between Nathan and Angie and I was thrilled with their happy ending.

I really loved this story. Well written and paced, it was a glorious slow build to the climax of Dean and Ryder meeting finally. Thoroughly modern, this nevertheless in many ways reminded me of the old-school style of letter-writing stories I read back in my younger years. This is not a wham-bam-thankyou-ma’am kind of story, but one where our two hero’s interact over a long distance and the intimacy is formed long before either sets eyes on the other. While fraught with potential disaster, I loved how Dean and Ryder formed such a strong emotional attachment before anything physical became a possibility between them. Indeed neither man knew for quite some time into the penpal-ship that the other was gay. I found that delightful – albeit a very strong – coincidence.

The author did an amazing job to my mind of showing how two men could form such a strong connection over a long distance and very different circumstances. I could feel the growing love and strong emotion tying each man to the other, thread by thread. I found this incredibly romantic and a real pleasure to read. While steamy and sexy in many places, their erotic chemistry was almost an afterthought. Yes, the sex was deliciously hot – but I actually valued their emotional connection more in this particular story. Dean and Ryder needed each other on a level not many romance novels can show. Dean offered unconditional support and a sense of safety and normalcy that Ryder desperately needed – both while out fighting in the war and the consequences that resulted when he came home. And Ryder helped Dean not feel so lonely and isolated in his own world of pain after losing his brother and his family being shattered. Dean’s feelings for Ryder help anchor him in the world of the living, and remind him he needs to keep on going, one foot in front of the other. This need they have for each other underpins their relationship, but helps their romantic relationship flourish beautifully to my mind.

A heartwarming, strongly emotional and steamily erotic novel, this is a wonderful story I plan to enjoy many times more in the future. The characters are strong and very well drawn, their circumstances natural and relatable. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and plan to look for more by this author. Recommended.

I found this a fun, lighthearted story that made me laugh aloud in a few places. I had never heard of Waze before (an app that shows you avatars of other drivers on the road around you) but found it a fresh, funny and incredibly realistic way to “meet” someone else nowadays. Galen and Zach’s conversations were loads of fun to read and I found myself thoroughly enjoying their interactions even before they came face to face.

There’s a small twist half way through – a wonderful one that delighted me, I must admit – and I really felt this helped bring the drone vs human searching for IEDs sub-plot to a fantastic conclusion. I found this to be a funny and sweet story. The sex between Galen and Zach is hot, but not boundary pushing – so I think will be good for readers who enjoy a bit of light M/M but nothing too heavy. Just a quick short story to fill in a quiet hour or slow, relaxing day at home.

Funny and lighthearted, I really enjoyed this story.
