She doesn’t need a hero. But a sexy Marine…that’ll work.

Though Lauren Baxter’s world is a blurry mess of colors, she has no tolerance for pity. With the help of her guide dog, Jack Sparrow, she’s built a good life for herself. She has everything she wants: her PhD, a thriving counseling practice and her independence.

When she meets her new neighbor, the man’s warm Texas accent and clean male scent weaken her knees. Her attraction to the former Marine is mutual and, unfortunately, a complication she doesn’t need.

In a rare moment of fragility, Lauren winds up in Gabe’s arms. One night together can’t break their self-imposed rules, right? But when a woman from Gabe’s past is murdered, the reasons he should have stayed away become painfully clear, threatening innocent lives he may not be able to save—especially Lauren’s.

Warning: Contains a blind therapist who doesn’t consider herself impaired; a meddling, erotic-novel-writing best friend; a hot ex-Marine with a shady past; and a loyal guide dog that howls “I love you” and is probably the sanest one of the bunch.

Lauren works from home as a counselor and is very good at her job, but her new next door neighbor is doing renovations and making it difficult for her to work over the phone. Lauren might be effectively blind – she can see colours, shadows and shapes but nothing too clearly – but she’s got enough sight to know Gabe is handsome as sin. After a flustered conversation asking him to keep the noise level down she somehow found herself agreeing to go out to dinner with him. Lauren was panicked, but didn’t want to turn down the opportunity once it had been thrust at her. Despite feeling in over her head, maybe it was time for her to start trusting men again….

This was a really heart warming story with a solid plot and interesting characters. I connected almost immediately with both Lauren and Gabe and had a strong interest in seeing them come together. Lauren could be too independent at times, but having had to come to terms with her life after losing much of her sight and rely mostly on herself it’s not a wonder she is how she is. A cheating ex husband also complicated her ability to trust and made me feel sympathetic and proud of her self accomplishments. I was also thrilled by how observant Gabe was. He caught onto all sorts of little things that usually go completely unnoticed or uncommented upon – with just a “he was really observant” tag. Things like he counted how many paces Lauren took to get to her front gate, then down to the corner of the street, and – before he knew she was blind – he realized that her steps were deliberate, carefully counted each and every time. That sort of detail really made me glow for Gabe and I was smitten even before he and Lauren went on their dinner date.

It was refreshing to also have whole chapters of being introduced to the characters, their personal situations and all these sorts of details. I loved the pace the story took. A slow burn – plenty of time to get to know the characters – and for them to come to fully appreciate each other. In that respect I found this to be a lovely example of a more traditional romance story, with time to relish each character and no need to rush. Having said this, the author didn’t dawdle when it came to the romance. I personally was thrilled that Gabe caught on to the half-lie Lauren told when they were introduced (that her “boyfriend” Jack was in fact her dog) and the issue of whether Gabe was chasing Lauren while she was “with another man” was mostly (for me at least) a moot point. But even so Gabe was tender with her, he didn’t rush Lauren but neither did he slink away and sulk. I thought much of these two interesting characters were balanced between reality and romance-book material.

I found the conflict part of the plot a little clichéd, but even so this was a minor issue when the characters were so fresh and interesting, and their romance really consumed center stage and kept my interest the whole book through. I loved the intimacy – smoking hot but not overly graphic or envelope pushing. Gabe and Lauren’s chemistry was just another reason I loved both their characters so much.

Overall I found this an amazing story full of excellent characterizations and a good, solid pace. I thoroughly enjoyed it and will happily look for more books by this author. Recommended.

An unexpected weekend adventure leads to renewed passion, but will it be enough to save a troubled marriage?

Nathan Collins is stunned when he’s served with divorce papers…almost as stunned as he’d been three weeks prior when his wife had suddenly asked him to move out of the house. At the time, Susan had proposed a thirty-day separation followed by marriage counseling. Nathan intends to hold her to that agreement.

He moves from stunned to pissed when Susan attempts to use blackmail as a means to obtain his signature on the papers. Damned if he’ll be blackmailed into anything, especially when he’s innocent of the accusations. He’d never cheat on his wife.

When an unexpected storm and a flooded road strand them together for the weekend, neither suspects that it will lead to a discovery of secret desires and fantasy fulfillment. But will their renewed passion be enough to revive their fledgling marriage? Despite Nathan’s vehement denial, Susan has some pretty convincing evidence of his extramarital activities.

Susan and Nathan have been married for three years, but their relationship has deteriorated to the point where a few whispers of doubt and a set-up picture has Susan filing for divorce. It seems their marriage is irrevocably broken, but can a weekend spent flooded-in together at their beach house give them the time to force them to communicate their real desires to each other?

This is a sexy short story that I found equal parts hot and difficult. I struggled to understand how, if Susan really believed Nathan had cheated on her, she could let herself have such smoking hot make-up sex with him. It felt a little to me like the divorce papers were a catalyst for her, to make Nathan and her communicate their unhappiness in their relationship and start again. This felt to me rather like using a sledgehammer when merely opening her mouth and talking about their issues would have worked far better. While I’m positive such miscommunications occur all the time in real life, it wasn’t very sexy and left me with a bit of a sour taste in my mouth – that our hero and heroine couldn’t even speak coherently to each other about their wants and desires and try to fix their own unhappiness.

Once I had checked my brain at the door and just rolled with it, though, the chemistry between Susan and Nathan really was smoking hot and their sex was graphic and fun. There were some critical scenes toward the end that I felt really should have been shown to us – rather than “told” and merely mentioned in passing. These missing scene/s (a big confrontation when Susan learned the truth) also dampened my enthusiasm for the story, but I realize it’s possible the author ran out of space with a word limit. Still, the sex scene was hot and I enjoyed how Susan finally let Nathan fulfill a few of her fantasies and they dabbled in a bit of (very, very mild) bondage. The story ends on a happy, positive note, and hopefully it’s the start of them communicating and really trusting each other into the future.

For readers who want a fun, sexy “getting back together” style story this might be one to try.

Packing up his clothes, his collection of Tony Orlando CDs, and his cat, Sambuca, Simon leaves the hustle and bustle of Philadelphia behind and heads out to live on his uncle Tiberius’ farm in the mountains of Pennsylvania. Starting over on the farm where he vacationed once as a child is a going to be just what the doctor ordered, as long as that doctor is the good-looking large animal veterinarian, Gentry Martin. Is a sexy country vet the cure for a love-sick city boy?

Simon had been jilted at the alter by Richard and then promptly lost his job. With no income of his own, and also the loss of his partner of two years sharing the bills, Simon knows he also likely will soon lose his apartment. Things can’t really get that much worse. So Simon decides to relocate out in the country. His Uncle Tiberius owns a farm and Simon recalls having a fun-filled two weeks out there one summer back in his childhood. But of course living in the country after a lifetime in the city isn’t as easy as Simon expected, nor was the complexities involved in starting a relationship so far out in the country.

A little slow to begin with, this nevertheless is a good, fun, city-boy-goes-country style story. The beginning – where Richard stands Simon up at the alter, followed by his outrageous scene leaving his job and making the decision to move to his Uncle’s farm is all well written and really fun to read. But I couldn’t help but feel while reading this first third of the book that this was all “background” material. A quicker, pass through these scenes – amazing as they were – would have sat better with me and given us a faster opening to Gentry and Simon’s introduction and the true plot unfolding. I enjoyed seeing Simon go through the pain and heartache, but felt impatient for the “real” story to begin. This could have just been me though, and other readers might prefer the meandering way the plot moves and taking their time to come to the real relationship here – Simon and Gentry. They don’t really kick off their relationship until half way through the book, but some readers might enjoy this slower pace.

Once Simon and Gentry started to become involved, I found the story to be both funny and romantic. Their relationship progressed at the same slow, easy mosey as the rest of the story does, so the story is quite consistent in its pacing. I would strongly recommend this story for more traditional romance readers who like a lot of character development and time spent with their plot being fleshed out. This would be an excellent introduction-style story for readers new to M/M romances in my mind. There is only the one erotic scene, right at the very end of the story (and a few chaste kisses scattered through the last quarter of the story) and there is nothing in it that I feel pushes the envelope or is outrageously explicit. As such, straight romance readers looking to dip a toe into erotic literature (and/or M/M romance) should be warmly satisfied with this as an experimental try.

Both Simon and Gentry’s characters are well explored and the romance between them is tastefully written. I found the pacing a little slow for my personal preference, and would have liked a bit more spice to an erotic story, but I can’t fault the plot, characterization or warmth infused in this fun, lighthearted story. I also enjoyed the author’s voice – this is a good story told in a humorous, friendly fashion that is as addictive as it is fun. A good read I thoroughly enjoyed.

Moira is always super efficient, but extremely quiet at work. When she ends up spending the night with her boss, Jensen, he starts to see a completely different side to her. Even though their night together was completely platonic, the closeness they shared let Moira finally relax and come out of her shell. But can they both overcome the complication of Jensen being Moira’s boss and the realities of having to go back to work?

This is an interesting boss-and-worker style story that I really enjoyed. I found most of the pacing almost perfect – Moira and Jensen don’t just hop into bed the moment they are alone together. They talk and interact and this really helped me feel the chemistry building between them. There are some seriously steamy kisses, and some mildly graphic sex (using euphemisms and vagueness – not explicit) all of which had me fanning myself. I was a little disappointed by Moira’s lack of self-confidence. Even after they’d been intimate, she couldn’t seem to really believe that Jensen was attracted to her and that he wanted a proper relationship with her. Moira had been burned in the past, and she had some personal problems at work, but I felt that Jensen had done everything in his power to convince her he was serious and addicted to her, but she let her self-doubts get in the way of that, and that frustrated me a bit.

I found the ending really satisfying – but it was the only section of the book that felt a bit rushed. A lot of things all got tied up in a hurry, and part of me really would have preferred it to happen more slowly, so I could enjoy it more. I enjoyed the story though, and really got attached to Moira and Jensen’s characters. I felt their chemistry was hot and intense. Despite Jensen needing a nudge at the end, and Moira not always being as strong a character as I prefer, these small flaws made them more realistic. I also really enjoyed the author’s voice and will be looking for more of her work.

For romance readers eager for a bit of spice in their stories, this could well prove satisfying for many.

A NotMy1stRodeo.com Story

After six years working his ranch and raising his boys, widower Mack Tucker is staring down the barrel of another long, lonely winter. Until his grown-up sons decide it’s time for him to move on. They not only sign him up for an online dating site, but also screen the first batch of interested parties.

He’s intrigued. Intrigued enough to drive three hours to Billings to meet Karen Thompson.

Burned by her ex, Karen isn’t interested in diving into another marriage, but she wouldn’t mind dipping her toes back in the dating waters. But this time, things will be different. What could be more trustworthy and honest than a strong, silent cowboy?

Their first date gets steamier than either of them intended, and Mack fears it may be too much, too soon for him. Torn between the past and the present, Mack has to cowboy up or lose the possibility of a future with the woman who makes his broken heart beat again.

Mack Tucker still missed his wife, Sue. Taken from him by cancer, Mack’s three boys are insisting that six years of grieving is more than enough. Mack needs to get back into the dating game, and an online website is perfect for that. A few phone calls later and Mack finds himself driving three hours in the dead of winter to meet Karen Thompson in Billings, Montana. When he see’s Karen, he knows he’s in trouble. With a rose in her hair and a barely-there red dress, Karen might be a divorced florist, but Mack instantly knows what she really is – trouble for his heart.

I really loved Mack’s character. Forty-six and normally in control, Mack is a man who knows himself. But he’s let his love-life wither into nothing after the devastating loss of his wife. Karen is determined to feel more like herself again. After being cheated on and all but ignored by her ex, she’s ready to live, to feel and experience passion and happiness. I was delighted how honest Mack and Karen were with each other – from their initial meeting onwards. Karen is very up front about how she’s not looking to marry again, but just to connect, to be treated well and enjoy companionship. And Mack also admits now his sons are grown and gone he can go a week in winter without speaking face to face with another human being it can be very lonely. He’s finally ready himself for some companionship as well. I felt from the beginning both Mack and Karen were in a similar space and knew they’d easily be able to give what the other wants while still being true to themselves.

The sex is hot and wonderful. I love how both Karen and Mack really got into it – talking a lot and sharing their wants and needs with each other. While the sex is descriptive and prolific, I don’t feel there’s anything that could be offensive or too envelope-pushing for most romance readers. It is graphic though, so more traditional readers mightn’t find this as well-written as I did. I was also impressed how the author used the intimacy of Karen and Mack coming together to really deepen both their connection and our understanding of their characters. It wasn’t just scene after scene of descriptive sex, but a lot of talking, discussion and sharing of their thoughts and bodies. I felt this really helped me appreciate and understand them both better.

I also really enjoyed how even after their scorching first date, both Karen and Mack needed some time apart – Mack in particular. They both have baggage, and their own issues to work through, and instead of glossing over them, or using their pasts to create conflict between them, Mack needed to sort through his emotions and expectations. I was delighted by how the author wrote this – walking that fine line between not dwelling or sulking, but also still taking the time needed to go over the issues and sort them out. I felt this really showed the strength of Mack’s character and I was impressed that Karen didn’t hassle him or become clingy as so many heroines tend to in this situation.

Overall I found this a well rounded story with engrossing, vivid characters and plenty of personal history and baggage. Add in some smoking hot sex and a wonderful connection and chemistry between the main characters and this is a cowboy story I feel is sure to appeal to many readers. Recommended.

Getting back in the saddle has never felt so good…

A NotMy1stRodeo.com Story

National Institute on Aging recently reported that Alzheimer’s is not only accountable for forgetfulness, as there are many other aspects of life, it’s all about cialis 100mg canada quality, rather than quantity! In order to ensure a rock-hard, lasting erection, adequate blood flow is the primary concern; after all, the amount of blood in the penis is directly responsible for a man’s degree of firmness. For example, what consequence did the erectile difficulty have on the generic tadalafil 5mg man and his spouse? What were his emotional and behavioral reactions to his erectile difficulties? What was the partner’s reaction? How did the balloon work? In comparison to modern balloons this one was relatively small. Brett Harrison tried marriage once and isn’t anxious for another round. So when his meddling twin sister sets him up on a dating site, he seriously considers strangling her and cancelling. Luckily for him, he’s too much of a gentleman to act on those impulses, and when he meets Melly Walker, he wonders if it’s time to get back in the saddle.

Melly knows exactly where her previous marriage went wrong. She was dazzled by her ex’s big-city charm and strayed too far from her roots. This time, she’s going with tried and true–a dyed-in-the-wool cowboy. Her first few dates net her more duds than studs, but when she meets Brett, she’s ready to get more than just her feet wet.

The principles of trust and compromise are great in theory, but when Melly discovers Brett has his eye on more than just her curves, she questions her judgment and his motives. Is Brett ready to drop his dreams for something as unreliable as love?

Brett Harrison’s pregnant twin sister has signed him up on a dating site, without his knowledge. Equal parts horrified and annoyed, Brett desperately wants to take the profile down, but his first date has already been arranged. Brett can’t believe he’s been wrestled into a coffee-date, but when he starts to read what Melly had sent “him” he has to be honest, he can’t let this woman down. Resigned, Brett decides he can meet Melly, have a cup of coffee and they could both go their separate ways afterwards. Then he could take down his profile and life could revert to normal. Right?

This is a fun, lighthearted story about a previously-burned cowboy and a klutzy, shy English teacher. I really enjoyed the reality of Melly’s previous dates – being stood up, not connecting with the men. I also was completely sympathetic with the fact Melly had signed up hoping that “Fun Melly” would come back from wherever she was hiding and was disappointed with how so far she wasn’t in sight. I could really empathize with just how hard online dating can be at times. I also enjoyed Brett’s character. While initially he seemed more the cookie-cutter kind of cowboy, the author did a great job of infusing his character with small traits that made him stand out more – like holding Melly’s seat out for her, or questioning her on why she joined up to the online dating sight. This helped me overall really connect well with both characters and had me liking them from an early stage in the story.

There was a twist in the plot about half way through, that I found fresh and different. My only disappointment from the story was that much of the second half of the book revolved around this twist – a business purchase of Brett’s – and complications arising from that. I couldn’t help but feel the growth of Brett and Melly’s relationship took a bit of a back seat for much of the latter half of the book. Added to that, the conflict, hurt feelings and mis-communications really had me feeling that up until the last two chapters or so that Brett and Melly’s relationship hadn’t progressed much at all. I didn’t feel they trusted each other very much emotionally and they really seemed to have a few major differences still blocking their way. So their reconciliation at the end felt quite rushed. I felt, when told “they both fell in love”, the author was needing me to take it on faith that their feelings had deepened and grown as time progressed, as this deepening of emotion wasn’t shown but instead skimmed over. A part of me wonders if the author was caught out on a word-limit or something like that, and the plot (which I did find interesting and well written) had taken over much of the growth of the relationship between Brett and Melly. For a romance story I felt this rush at the end really detracted from my enjoyment of the story as a whole, and I was quite saddened by it.

Overall, though, this is a fun and lovely book. I greatly enjoyed Brett and Melly’s characters and found them to be not only relatable but also realistic with “normal” flaws – not perfect but real. I also really loved how there was a proper plot, not just a hastily thrown in conflict or silly miscommunication. The plot added to the story, but also helped show more of both Melly and Brett’s character, dreams and desires. While I found the ending a bit rushed and I, personally, would have loved to see more of the growing depth to their relationship, this is a solid, well written and emotional read that left me feeling happy and good. A great new author to me, and one I will happily look for again.

Are the authorities going to be able to apprehend the culprit before Toby decides the best course of action is to remove himself from the equation?

Toby is recovering from a shot shoulder. As an artist, a sculptor, the thought he mightn’t be able to work had driven him crazy. So he’s rushed back to his art, pushing himself hard but is really pleased to find he’d not lost the edge of his talent. Toby is desperately in love with Damon and grateful for the man’s presence, Damon keeps him from pushing himself too hard. But the threat from an unknown hater is weighing on them both. Can they work through this bump in their lives?

This is the third book in the Beer and Clay series, and while I feel it can be read as a stand alone book, I definitely think readers will get more out of it if they’ve read the first two stories first (“Malting” is book 1, and “Milling” is book 2). This book had a lot more detail about Damon’s friend Pete, and Pete’s lover, Christian. I was really excited about this, as we were somewhat introduced to Christian in Milling and it’s clear the man has quite the background and story to tell. There’s also quite a bit more mystery in this book than the previous two. Toby and Damon’s “stalker” is a far more prominent plot point and I really enjoyed seeing this aspect of their story come more into the foreground.

I felt this book had something for everyone – a really solid, sexy hot M/M relationship, good friends and strong secondary characters coming into their own, and a mystery plot really blossoming and coming into fruition. While not all the plots were wrapped up neatly – clearly there is at least another story in the series – I felt there was definite progression in the overall story arc and I enjoyed the strong steps forward both Toby and Damon (and Peter and Christian) made.

This is a hot, sexy read with a fair bit of kink and a well-established, loving couple as the main protagonists. I thoroughly enjoyed it and am looking forward to the next installment. Recommended.

But Peter and Max had really thought they could make something special with all four of them together as a single unit. Matt and Adam run the Briar Rose together, and Adam has agreed that they’d help two couples spend a week and see if they could become a foursome. When it came to the crunch time, however, nerves abound for all of them. Can Devon, Peter, Max and Swan really make this work, blend their two families and make good, solid friendships something far deeper and more meaningful?

This is a smoking hot story, packed full of delightful, kinky sex and two really stunning relationship coming together as one. I really loved seeing the two main couples together first, finding their chemistry and having them set the tone. Then watching them come together as a foursome – with all the discussions, emotions and complexities that brought. I loved how nothing was really glossed over, at least not to my mind. Everyone’s goals were discussed, worries, what each of them wanted to achieve. Secrets were bared and honesty was integral to the blending process. This really read to me as how two groups of friends could enter into a foursome in a real way, deepen an intimate relationship and make something so highly complex work for all involved.

I loved how there was tons of sex – but more importantly there was strong love and a connection behind it all. At no stage did I feel like various characters were simply pairing off – or swapping over – to complete a check list of whom had been with whom. The author has done an amazing job of keeping the flow natural and wickedly logical. Each scene followed smoothly from the last, and the characters exploring and refining their relationships and boundaries was a delight to watch unfold.

I really enjoyed this book. Great sex, loving and interesting characters mingled in with an emotional and highly sensitive plotline have melded together for a wonderful book. I greedily devoured the entire novel in one sitting and am looking forward to immediately jumping back into it to catch all those small things one invariably misses upon first reading. A loving and emotional book that’s gone directly onto my keeper shelf. Highly recommended.

When veterinarian Jacy Weston changes her location on her western dating website profile, she thinks it’s no big deal. Opal Creek…Myrtle Creek…what’s the difference? As little white lies go, this one barely qualifies. Besides, since her brothers have chased off every guy within a hundred miles, the expiration date on her virginity is way past due.

Ray Mitchell is not inclined to waste his time on something as unnecessary as dating, but it’s much easier to take a woman to coffee than to explain to his mother why he’s in no hurry to get married again. Despite NotMy1stRodeo.com’s promises, he doubts he’ll find any woman willing to find herself stuck on a remote ranch raising rodeo stock.

But Jacy is different. She isn’t afraid to get her hands dirty. Or to get down and dirty. Ray’s thinking he’s found the one, until the truth comes out…and he realizes the divorcee from the next county he’s been dating doesn’t exist.

Jacy Weston couldn’t believe she was signing herself up to an online dating website. With her relationship options only allowing divorced, widowed or complicated, she felt declaring herself divorced was the closest she could get to the truth about her situation. With four over-protective older brothers crimping her style, Jacy was the last of a dying breed – a thirty year old virgin. While she wasn’t keen to give herself to just anyone, she did want to live her life a little before she was too old to enjoy it. Ray had been married for a brief time and had no desire to repeat the mistakes of his past. But a promise to his mum – one date every month – that he was being held to had him meeting up with Jacy. Can both of them overcome their personal complications to see the very good thing they’re starting?

This is a lighthearted, fun read. I was a little hesitant about the plot at first. While I completely understand why Jacy acted the way she did – lying in her online dating profile – and there is a very solid basis for her deception, I’ve never been a fan of reading romances that start with such an unfaithful base. The chemistry and quickness of ease between Ray and Jacy, however, placated me a lot. The author did a really good job to my mind of showing how these two characters clicked so well. Had they met just by chance in Becky’s coffee shop, then their connection and relationship would have quite possibly begun in nearly the same. So while I still disliked the plothook and enforced conflict of Jacy lying about being divorced and omitting the fact she was a virgin, much of their chemistry and relationship appeared so natural their connection read to me almost as if it were fated to be. I’m not certain, though, that this large plot device will suit every readers taste.

I found the sexual side of the relationship between Jacy and Ray to be really well balanced. While it’s clear from the first page there will be graphic scenes – the whole reason Jacy has signed onto the website is to lose her virginity – neither of them jump into the sack right off the bat. I found the pacing to be excellent. The chemistry sizzled between Ray and Jacy and they took each consecutive date further and further, until they fully consummated their interest. I thought the sex scene was tasteful and hot – but not over the top or extreme. I was a little disappointed when the truth finally came out and there was no real twist – nothing different or surprising in how the scene/s unfolded. I would have been ecstatic if something new had unfolded and given the book a really fresh turn. While it didn’t make the book unique or stand out from the pack for me, neither did I feel let down. The author made both Jacy and Ray really sympathetic characters and my interest in their relationship held all the way through to the end.

With one descriptive love scene and a number of steamy kisses, this is a lovely spicy romance with a bit of a kick to it. While the plot is nothing overly new, the characters and their vibrancy make up for this in my mind. A good, solid book I would definitely recommend other readers give a try.

Sometimes dream crushes do come true.

Vegas Nights, Book 1

Reagan can’t believe her luck—and not in a good way. One minute she’s hanging out with her friends at an exclusive party in Las Vegas. The next, she’s attracted the attention of a famous actor. Not just any actor. Declan Carter, the man on which she used to—okay, might still—have a fangirl crush. Whose blue eyes leave her embarrassingly tongue tied.

All Declan wants is to meet a nice, normal woman who won’t use him as a stepping stone to fame. Something about Reagan tells him she could be that rare woman, and he follows his instinct to invite her back to his suite—where they proceed to have wild monkey sex. All. Night. Long.

What was supposed to be one night of no-regrets sex stretches out into a blissful weekend of two people who can’t get enough of each other. But when the glamour of Sin City wears off, they’re standing on the edge of a once-in-a-lifetime chance to turn a weekend fling into something lasting. Will they take the jump?

Declan Carter, famous actor, was the man of Regan’s dreams. She might be on a flighty holiday weekend in Vegas, but Regan knows the smoldering attraction between herself and Declan can only be a passing fancy. Her real life is the graveyard shift as a nurse and sleeping through the day when everyone else got to live their life. But with a sexy cocktail dress and with some friends at a fancy party, Regan stumbles into Declan and suddenly her Vegas trip is looking far better than she’d believed possible.

This is a fun and steamy story. While the whole “girls weekend at Vegas” and “normal girl meets hot famous guy” angles aren’t exactly new, I still found myself interested – both by Regan’s character and Declan’s lack of arrogance. Declan might be a famous actor, but he’s been through a rough patch and so lacks a lot of the arrogant and cocky characteristics similar heroes can be flawed by.

The sex is steamy and I found it really well written. Not flouncy or flowery – but hot and sexy. This definitely isn’t a story I’d lend to my mother! For all that though, I didn’t find it pushed the envelope, straddling that thin line between erotic and very sensual – and for me personally, it stayed on the line of sensual. The sex is graphic though, and for more pure romance readers it might be a bit too hot.

There’s some clear hint-dropping about Regan’s two girlfriends. Although the three women came to Vegas together for a girls-weekend all three of them hook up the first evening so there’s two other stories loosely linked with this one, but this is easily read as a stand alone novel. My only real complaint was how the plot seemed fairly standard. While I found myself interested in the story itself, it was nothing fresh, new or different. Also, I found myself a little miffed at Regan’s reaction to her return to reality. When Regan and Declan parted, Declan had explained he needed a certain amount of time to settle into his new movie role. Before that agreed upon time had passed she was already bitter and writing him off. It soured a lot of my view on her character. Not just because she couldn’t be patient, but that he’d been honest and up-front about needing some time, and before those weeks had passed she was impatient and doubting him. It felt a little too much like a forced-upon conflict point (and an unfair one of Regan to make), rather than a natural by-product of a new relationship experiencing issues/strain.

Having said that, I really did find this for the most part as a fun, lighthearted, sexy story well worth my time to read. I enjoyed the author’s voice and style, the plot moved along at a decent pace, and you can never really go wrong with a story set in Vegas. Outside of a few issues, I found this to be a great story and a good, solid read.
