Del Madison has loved Penny since kindergarten. Commissioned by a big greeting card company for a line of Christmas and Valentine’s cards, he has to emerge from behind his alter ego and unveil himself to the public. He chooses Penny Beedle’s shop for the big reveal. If he plays his cards right, he just might gain Penny as part of his life.

Penny and her sister, Abbey own the card and knick knack store in Lobster Cove. The girls are setting up their store full of Christmas goodies, but Penny simply isn’t really feeling any of the Christmas cheer – since her wedding was called off this time last year. Del had been in love with Penny since kindergarten – and now he was a semi-famous artist with his Christmas cards selling like hotcakes. Even though Del’s family had moved when he’d finished third grade, he’d never forgotten Penny, the first woman who ever captured his attention. Penny and Del might have had a major crush on each other back when they were little kids, but they’ve both grown right up now. Can they rekindle that sweet first love?

This is a sweet, heart-warming, lovely story. Readers who enjoy character based, slower moving storylines should find themselves really enjoying this story. There are quite a few chaste kisses, but all other physical affection occurs off-screen. I love how the author didn’t just info-dump all of Penny and Del’s history – but rather the two characters caught up on all their missing time together, sharing and telling each other stories and exchanging that information in what I felt was a really realistic manner. This also helped me see the small sparks of attraction grow between Penny and Del and made the start of their relationship feel so much more special and wonderful to me.

I enjoyed how they got to know each other again, how they didn’t just jump into bed or race toward their Happy ending – but how they allowed their chemistry and relationship to flourish at a slower, more enjoyable pace. This really helped make the whole story feel more solid and enjoyable to me as I could relish and take time to appreciate everything Penny and Del already had, and what they allowed their relationship to grow into. My only small, very minor disappointment with this story was that the conflict aspect of the plot (Del’s ex-wife and Penny’s ex-fiance) really felt stilted and a little unrealistic. While I can completely appreciate that the author wanted some form of conflict/antagonist in the story, I personally feel that stories that revolve around the characters as strongly as this don’t necessarily need such a clichéd conflict to make the story better.

I found this to be a lovely, slow-paced, wonderfully sweet romance with interesting and appealing characters. A wonderful story that readers of all ages should enjoy.

The strung-out junkie claims Kerry is Jase’s daughter and it’s his turn to care for her, and then she walks out.

Jase is a fireman, and his lover Scott is a paramedic. They’ve been together for six years and are both blissfully happy. On Christmas Eve though, Jase’s ex-lover finds him and dumps a small girl on him, claiming the child is his daughter. Can Jase and Scott work things out while juggling the needs of a little girl as well?

I am a huge fan of Sean Michael’s but haven’t read many of his straight M/M contemporary romances. This one was wonderful and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Jase and Scott are a long term, solidly committed couple who have their entire world turned upside-down when Jase’s young daughter is brought into their lives. I found the whole story really well paced – time moves forward, but not so fast that the reader isn’t exposed to all the many, massive changes in both Jase and Scott’s lives. And while everything is not glittering rainbows of happiness, I did love how the entire story had a positive focus and spin on everything.

I quickly became very emotionally attached to Scott, Jase and Kerry. I wanted to see how they worked through all the changes and problems that arose. I loved seeing them trying to reconfigure their family and relationships both together and as couples – Jase with Kerry, Kerry and Scott etc – and this lent the whole story a feeling on a warm, fuzzy and family-focused story. While there is plenty of very steamy sex between Jase and Scott, I truly felt like the main focus of the story was the three of them building and forging a strong family dynamic.

Readers who enjoy these kinds of character based stories with plenty of ups and downs should love this book as much as I did. I liked how the author didn’t shy from pointing out all the pitfalls, problems and concerns both Jase and Scott found in this new road of theirs, but at no point did I feel like these issues were over-dramatized or like there was overwrought emo put in for no reason. This read like a very realistic, interesting and enjoyable story and one I could easily see occurring in real life.

A brilliant, warm hearted story and one I greatly enjoyed and can recommend.

Dacey’s heart ached for all the suffering Tyson had gone through. Her twice-weekly catch-ups with her were the only bright spot in her life. Can Tyson prove his feelings for her are real, and can she manage to escape the wrath of her pimp and start a new life with Tyson?

This is a good short story, with two very interesting characters. I enjoyed Tyson – a damaged cowboy-solider hero and Dacey. I thought their chemistry was believable and while not sizzling-hot, it was heart-felt and almost tender to my mind. This is the sort of story I feel is perfect to sit back with – have a nice drink, ignore logic and reality and just disengage your brain.

I felt the tension could have been a bit stronger between Dacey and her pimp, Carlos. I thought the author was “telling” not “showing” me the fear Dacey had for him and the hold Carlos had on her. Logically, it’s obvious that Carlos beat his girls and that Dacey would have felt the brunt of that – but there was no remembrance of an example of this, no horror story passed around the girls that Dacey shared with the reader. Simply being told he beat and sometimes killed his girls didn’t make it feel “real” to me and didn’t fill me with dread or worry for Dacey. I felt this really lessened the impact of the opening chapters to me and a little more showing of this worry and danger would have gone a long way to making the story really jump off the page for me.

The relationship between Dacey and Tyson went at what I felt was a good pace. I enjoyed seeing them go from a more working relationship to a committed one, fitting into each other’s lives and starting something new. I feel this storyline will appeal to readers of all ages and while there is some explicit sex there is nothing too outrageous or eyebrow-raising and I feel this would suit all readers except those who prefer sweet romances.

A warm, well paced romance that’s sure to leave a smile on your face.

Noah, the brother of his best friend, is a nurse in the hospital and the man Travis has yearned for, for almost twenty years now. Can Noah and Travis finally push past the brotherly relationship they have, now Travis truly needs Noah’s help?

I really enjoyed this story. It is a slow, well paced romantic story of two men who have known each other forever, and been as close as family, but when their circumstances change they can each finally admit to feeling far deeper about the other than they’ve ever admitted. I loved how the slower pace of the story really let me get a feel for the characters and enjoy their situations. This is all told from the first-person point of view by Travis, but I really loved how the author showed through small hints and gestures exactly how Noah was feeling too. I never once questioned the deep love was felt equally by both men, even though we never actually see anything from Noah’s perspective.

The build-up and chemistry in this story was phenomenal. I really loved how Noah and Travis came together, both growing and still learning and discovering things about themselves and each other. The sex – when it finally arrived – was smoking hot and deliciously written. I was already heavily invested in the relationship and both men by then so the graphic intimacy was just the icing on the cake for me. I really feel that this is such a wonderful, well paced and emotional, romantic story that readers of all heat levels should enjoy it. Only readers who strictly avoid M/M romances might not enjoy this story.

With a huge extended family, and plenty of interesting and vibrant characters and plot I found this to be a well rounded story. With a strong, heartwarming and family centered theme, this slow building romance between Travis and Noah was an excellent story and I one I expect to happily re-read a number of times in the future. An excellent story.

Six months later, a chance encounter leads Thad and Caleb down the road to an actual relationship. But when Thad’s past comes back to rear its ugly head, how can a brash and headstrong sniper and a damaged, slightly neurotic businessman make things work? Will their mutual attraction survive the test of time or will their relationship just remain a mercenary’s crush?

Thad’s life had been miserable these past few years, a mere pawn in his father’s games. After being rescued by Unit Alpha, Thad realised he’d merely exchanged once cell for another, the bounty on Thad’s head meaning he still had practically no freedom at all. Thad is finding it difficult to adjust, but making the best of it. When Caleb kisses him though, the feelings of hope and the possibilities the small tenderness arouses blows open Thad’s life and shows him maybe there really is something more out there for him.

I enjoyed this story. Despite being the second in a series I didn’t at all feel like I was missing something – this book stands really well by itself. I was a little puzzled how the author jumped over the murder of Thad’s father. Initially, the way the book starts led me to believe this would be a big plot device. Thad’s father is a clear bad guy and the reason Thad’s life is in shambles and the one who is trying to kill Thad himself. I was really surprised, therefore, when the story jumps six months into the future and skips almost entirely over the killing and death of this man and Thad’s subsequence freedom and ability to live his own life on his own terms. I’m not sure if this was cut from the story due to a word-limit or some other necessary reason, or if the author merely wanted to focus on Thad’s recovery and life out from under his father’s thumb, but I couldn’t help but feel the jump forward in time past all that was odd and a real lost potential for a great plot.

Also because of the time-jump in the story I felt a little like the chemistry between Thad and Caleb was a bit rushed. While the reader only experiences a chapter of time between the two men, more than six months passes in the story. So intellectually I know there is more than enough time for both Thad and Caleb to get to know each other, for their attraction and crush to deepen and really flourish. But as a reader I didn’t get to see or experience any of that. Merely being told this is what happened didn’t leave me with that same burning feeling of wanting to see them act on this long, drawn out feeling and be really eager for the culmination of their desires. Even though I know they’d spent a long time pining for each other, not experiencing it for myself meant the time from their first meeting to actually coming together felt a bit rushed and I wasn’t as invested in them as I would have hoped.

That said, the sex between Thad and Caleb was truly sizzling and exceptionally well written. I really enjoyed the scene of them coming together and found it not only hot, but also good with the detail and I really felt the strong emotions from both men. I eventually became attached to both their characters and invested in them as a couple. I found the chemistry and camaraderie between them believable and sexy once the story really got moving. I also thoroughly enjoyed the plot – Thad and the rest of Unit Alpha needing to clean up the loose ends from when Thad’s father ran the company.

An exciting and steamy M/M romance with a good, solid plot I enjoyed this story.

Martin’s obsession with Andre grows until they are sharing more than just flirtatious conversation. But when an eccentric art collector buys one of Martin’s paintings, Martin’s past jealousies resurface and threaten to destroy what he and Andre have so lovingly built.

When Andre starts working as a dishwasher Martin is drawn to him, unable to put the handsome young man out of his mind. Andre left a bad situation in Alabama and is slow to open up to Martin. Can the two men work things out?

I found this to be a really interesting, complicated erotic romance. I really enjoyed how Martin and Andre took the time to get to know each other, and the slower pace made their friendship and eventual relationship felt far more realistic to me than the quicker “meet and fall into bed” style erotic romances that are out in the market lately. I enjoyed the complexity of both Andre and Martin’s characters. There’s a small supporting cast and toward the end a big twist in the plot. While this twist takes quite a leap of faith (and has a very slight paranormal-ish bend to it) I found it extremely interesting – keeping my attention firmly embedded in Andre and Martin’s story.

While initially there is only a small hint of underlying sadness, I couldn’t help but feel as the story progresses that what started out as a lovely, almost romantic M/M romance became quite a lot darker. Martin and Andre have a somewhat rocky relationship and especially toward the end I felt the cracks in their romance are really starting to show. I found it impossible for most of the story to work out whether Andre or Martin was in the wrong – or indeed if either of them were – as the story really is quite complex. The two men have what I feel are real problems – Andre has been abused and in some ways is very young and naïve, Martin is temperamental and I felt he had difficulty communicating his true worries and feelings to Andre clearly. Far from a criticism, I felt these flaws really made Andre and Martin both appear far more realistic and understandable to me.

Readers who like plot-twists and unusual storylines shouldn’t be disappointed in this story. I feel that readers looking for a light, happy, fluffy read probably won’t find this a suitable story as it is quite complicated and especially toward the end I found it a little dark. With a happy ending, interesting and multi-layered characters and a whole bunch of twisty plot, this is a good story that I feel should appeal to many readers.

Erin’s used sex as a way to run from his emotions for a long time. It’s become a habit that he’s finally caught on to, and he’s growing tired of it. In fact, he’s growing tired too easily in general.

A doctor’s visit leaves him fearing for his life. When he encounters a friendly vamp he knows out at the club. Erin breaks his no-vamps rule and takes Jude home with him. Together, they burn up the sheets, and Erin finds himself willing to spend more than one night with Jude. Soon, a relationship blooms, but the bad news Erin gets might put an end to any dreams he had for the future.

Erin was dangerously close to forty and finding himself dissatisfied with much of his life. Erin had known for years that vampires were real – his twin brother Andrew was in a serious, long-term relationship with one for starters – but Erin tried hard to just enjoy his life and not get too involved with any one man. Out clubbing Erin bumps into Jude, a vampire he’s known for years. Erin is surprised when Jude comes onto him but can’t resist. Will they both regret it later?

Whew! Keep a cold drink handy and make sure you turn off your phone. This is a steamy hot read that jumps pretty much straight into the sexy stuff. Erin and Jude have been friends for ages, and when Jude finally decides it’s time for Erin to stop his playboy ways the two men certainly know how to set fire to the bedroom. I really enjoyed how carefully and slowly Jude led Erin into their relationship. The small steps they each took bringing their friendship to be friends-with-benefits, then more than just friends, it was a great progress and one I thoroughly enjoyed following. I also really enjoyed how the story wasn’t simply loads of sex and not much character growth, Erin was at a real turning-point in his life, even though he was only partially aware of it, and having Jude there to support him and help fulfil him was a lovely thing to see.

The plot was very character-based. Erin has a very big, life-altering event happen and watching him, Jude and their friends deal with the consequences was heart-wrenching and kept me engrossed in the storyline. I could strongly sympathize with Erin and the choices he was determined to follow through on.

The plot, the interesting characters and the wonderful sex scenes all worked together to make this an excellent story and one I will happily read again in the future. Recommended.

Nick and Sandy had been friends through high school until Nick got in a fight to defend Sandy and ended up coming out of the closet. Hurting and still shocked by what he’d done, Nick had snapped at Sandy and the two hadn’t spoken at all in the years since then. When they bump into each other will they both finally be able to reconnect and forget the past?

I enjoyed this lighthearted romance. I was really pleased when Nick and Sandy patched up their friendship very early on in the story. While that aspect of the plot – the fight, their silence with each other etc – felt a little forced and clichéd to me, having them both talk through it all at the beginning was a good way to put that back in the past where I felt it belonged and allow Nick and Sandy to start fresh again. I also really liked the pacing of the story. The chemistry grew between them with a good intensity and I was pleased that we as readers were shown who Nick and Sandy were as characters before they both jumped into bed together.

There were a few twists in the plot (around one of Nick’s friends, Hank, in particular!) that I really enjoyed and found surprising. I also found the sex refreshingly sweet. Nick might be a country boy and a working farm hand, but I loved how very sensitive and sweet he could be with Sandy. I felt the author did a great job in making both Nick and Sandy’s characters realistic and manly without being over-the-top macho or too alpha-male, which is something I do grow tired of as a reader.

I found this to be a heart-warming and emotional story with engaging characters and a few surprises along the way that made this a deeply enjoyable read for me. A lovely book I can strongly recommend to any reader.

When his depressingly heterosexual boss, Morpheus, suggests Sandy sign up with the Paranormal Mates Society, Sandy isn’t so sure. But then his interest is captured by an icy, sexy man. Pe-Ben is a god of winter, who has a similarly sleep-inducing power that means most mortals can’t stay awake in his presence. Can the two men find enough middle ground to satisfy each other’s desires?

I found this to be a fun short story. I’ve not read any of the previous stories in this series, but found it very easy to enjoy purely as a stand-alone book about Sandy and Pe-Ben. Hooking up on the internet dating site for Paranormal creatures, this really captured my imagination. While Sandy – and Morpheus – were known to me, I’d never heard of the Native American god of winter and hibernations. I loved how the author introduced me not only to Pe-Ben but explained his powers – and thus his problem at keeping lovers awake – simply and without slowing the pace of the story for a massive amount of background.

This is definitely a sexy story to my mind. Sandy is not ashamed to take what he wants and has a really impressive amount of sex toys and porn dvds – I found it refreshing that he was perfectly able to satisfy himself and completely open and honest about his sexual cravings. I enjoyed how the story was completely sexy with just Sandy alone – even before Pe-Ben was added in and the pleasure became mutual between the men. I also found myself quite intrigued by Morpheus’ character and would be interested to see a story revolving around him, too.

I found this to be a fun, lighthearted and excellent quick read. I loved the characters of Sandy and Pe-Ben and loved watching them come together and create a brilliant relationship together. A great, easy read that I can happily recommend.

Scott has worked hard to save his money, change his ways and this bar is finally the culmination of Scott turning his life around. Only Maccabe is the first person to walk through his door, and suddenly Scott has a whole lot more than just a run-down bar on his hands.

I quite enjoyed this short story and loved watching Scott effectively turn his whole life around. I was only a little surprised at the male-pregnancy sub-plot. This is the second Omega wolves book I’ve read, so I knew this particular paranormal world supports male-pregnancies in Omega wolves, though I’d love to know some of the history/explanation of how it’s possible. While I’m unsure if either Scott or Maccabe have been introduced in previous books in the series, I found the story and characters stood up well as a standalone.

I found myself with a number of questions that were never really fully answered. Are there any females in this paranormal world? I don’t believe there have been any women in either of the Omega stories I’ve read so far. How (physiologically) can the Omega men get pregnant and give birth? While I completely understand the author can’t go through a whole bunch of world-explaining each and every story – particularly considering how short the two stories I’ve read are and the main point are the romantic relationships – I feel I can’t be the only reader with these and many other questions.

In particular there was one scene in this story toward the end where the author could well have given a little more explanation on the whole pregnancy/anatomy aspect of the world and Omega wolves and this was glossed over to the extent where even a very careful re-read doesn’t give me any real answers. I can appreciate that a full-blown medical anatomy class isn’t sexy or conductive to a spicy romance, but answers on how the world and therefore the characters within it operate would have made this story feel far richer and deeper to my mind for it.

I really liked the pacing of the story. I felt that both Scott and Maccabe are well introduced and fleshed out as characters – they don’t simply lock eyes and instantly fall in lust in the first few pages. Their characters are interesting and not standard alpha-hero/submissive-boyfriend cardboard cut outs. I enjoyed both Scott and Maccabe thoroughly and found them interesting and vibrant in their own rights. The buildup and chemistry between them felt realistic and sexy to me. The plot around them (both the personal/relationship plot and the whole pregnancy/starting a new life plots) were engaging to me and had me eagerly turning the pages.

With great characters, a decent plot and some steamy hot sex, I feel this is a story that should appeal to many readers.
