Vampire Claire finds herself caught in the middle between her Master, Parker, and her Trigger, Andre. Little love is lost between the former friends, but somehow Claire must build a bridge between them when they are sent to Edgewood to settle their differences. The cost of her failure will be deadly.

Deep in the cellars of Edgewood, a game of sexual bondage unleashes unexpected dangers, twisting open, loving Andre into a secretive virtuoso of manipulation. Is this just another part of the game, or is he losing his mind? Parker will take desperate steps to protect his apprentice, but he won’t be dragged into the game with them.

Can Parker set aside forty years of bitter rivalry, or will he sacrifice Andre to save Claire?

Death is the beginning….

Claire is a young enhanced vampire. She’s different than the other ordinary vampires but also very important because of her powers. Claire’s Master, Parker, and her Trigger, Andre, have had a feud for over 40 years. Adding to that all three of them are sent to Edgewood to settle their differences (mainly Parker and Andre). A night of bondage releases decade’s old evil that would play and gamble with their lives to get what it wants. No matter the cost!

I have not read the first book in this series, but I do wish I had. Though the second book could possibly be read as a standalone, it doesn’t fully answer all the questions since there were some facts and back story that were missing or incomplete. To fully understand the story you would probably have to read from the start.

The characters had very distinct personalities. I liked the angst and rivalry between Parker and Andre at first but then that began to become a bit repetitive and my interest started to drop. But then the events that occurred after that one bondage session happened and it amped up my interest level and kept it there until the end.

There are some scenes that would made me feel the pain that these characters were feeling (both physical and emotional) while also making me cry with the hope and love they have for each other. Some of the scenes may be deemed as torture by some.

A love triangle with a bit of BDSM and evil vampires in the mix. Perfect read for any vampire fan.
