Raven struggles to understand why the family adopted her, leading her on a search for her biological family. Her father provides the answers she is looking for…or does he?

As Raven’s search for answers progresses, she finds that she is in a battle against time, for all who live at Brookledge Manor seem destined to perish before their time. The house itself holds the secrets, but will it manage to claim all of its inhabitants as penalty for her quest?

No one wants to feel like someone else’s dirty little secret, but that’s exactly what Raven’s childhood was like. Now that she’s an adult, will she finally be able to piece together all of the clues about her past?

The secondary characters dragged me through a wide range of emotions. Raven’s adoptive family is as secretive as they are dysfunctional. The unhealthy relationships among them were sometimes expressed in incredibly subtle ways that made the plot feel even more realistic as it unfolded.

It would have been helpful to have more information about who Raven is as an individual. Her curiosity about and raw grief over not having any information about her origins adds some depth to her character, but I had trouble figuring out what kind of person she was outside of these burning questions. The brief glimpses of her growing identity as a person of color were fascinating and could have easily been expanded to illuminate more of her personality.

Some of the most absorbing sections of this book chronicle how the upper middle class white families in Raven’s town thought of other races during the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s. The seemingly slow progression of the types of words they used to discuss black people as well as how much social contact was considered acceptable made me marvel at how much can change in a generation. From one year to the next very little seems to change, yet when viewed with a wider lens everything shifts much more quickly than I ever would have guessed had my knowledge of this era ended in 1950.

The romantic elements never quite seemed to fit in with the rest of the plot. I had trouble understanding why the characters involved in it were attracted to one another and would have liked to have more information about what they saw in one another before they fell in love. Both characters were intriguing as individuals, I was just never able to see the spark between them.

There were a few things that didn’t make any sense to me in the beginning of this story. At first I wondered if I’d misread the possible interpretations of these scenes. Once Ms. Sayles began pulling everything together, though, I was impressed by how many clues she’d tucked into small snippets of conversation among other places.

The Adoption Conspiracy is a good choice for anyone in the mood for something dramatic and historical. The mystery is nearly as compelling as everything else that is going on in the mid 20th century for these characters!

This twosome could be unstoppable…under the right circumstances.

I’ve always loved the work of Paige Tyler. It’s guaranteed to bring a smile and the heat. This book was no exception. The writing is smooth and the characters intriguing. Once I started reading, I couldn’t put it down.

This is a solid book. The characters, Ivy and Landon are both strong. Neither of them will back down, but it’s a good thing. I could look up to Ivy and drool over Landon. Landon is a good guy. He’s almost perfect, despite being so strong and somewhat bullheaded. I liked him. Ivy is charming and her chemistry with Landon is off the charts. I liked that they didn’t think they could like each other, but could deal with each other. That definitely ramped up the tension and excitement factor for me. I also liked that Ivy isn’t your usual shifter. She’s not a human who turns into something, but rather, she can use the cat qualities she possesses in the clinch. She’s kind of like what every crazy cat lady wants to be–a cat like her cats, but human, too.

The romance does move fast in this book, so keep that in mind, but do read. It’s worth the ride and a fun ride, indeed.

Love can find you in the most unlikely of places…

When her friends order her to take a vacation, celebrity chef Jilly O’Hara is skeptical. She may be overwhelmed by her sudden success, but a trip to the mountains is not her idea of fun. Especially when a snowstorm forces her to fill in for an absentee bride in a lavish television wedding taking place at the resort. But then the ruggedly handsome make-believe groom arrives…. Walker Hale has kept to himself since his return from active duty-but the next thing he knows, he’s reluctantly playing along with the wedding charade.

Even this jaded loner isn’t immune to Jilly’s quirky charm…or her beauty. But Jilly has to return home to Summer Island, leaving Walker to decide if the feelings between them were something more than pretend.

Of course the make believe idea becomes a fact, this is a romance book! It’s the journey that makes reading The Accidental Bride such a special treat because of the contribution of Winslow, the service dog. That puppy isn’t a prop but a bona fide heroic character that was endearing and entertaining throughout the entire novel. He’s one of the main reasons why this is more than just a good read, it’s a wonderful read.

Jilly is a stubborn character and actually acts like a heroine. She comes to the rescue. I liked her opinion about snack food, her initial opinion about knitting because I share it, and I liked that she was a person who, despite a painful and sometimes lonely upbringing, was able to stay focused on her dreams and worked hard to make them a reality. I liked the conflict the author presented – how to find a new dream when the old one is taken away by something out of your control. I enjoyed watching her take the baby steps, then the leaps and bounds as she accepted the possibilities of a new future.

The fact that the future might include Walker, the hero, was delicious torment. He’s a hero in the truest meaning of the word but he’s been injured. Add in dysfunctional family drama and his own conflict coupled with Jilly’s makes for interesting reading. The fireworks are there but so are the tender, beautiful and romantic scenes as the hero’s own actions lay the groundwork for falling in love. Of course, his bond with Winslow is impressive and I appreciated how Ms. Skye paid attention to even the little details when it came to Walker’s and Winslow’s relationship.

The dialogue between Jilly and Walker was entertaining, it flowed well and I enjoyed it. I liked the most of the secondary characters because they provided a nice flavor to the community in the book. I wasn’t crazy about Walker’s sister or the suddenness with which she appeared – too perfect a set up – but it did the job in getting the hero where he needed to be. I’m also unsure about the effect of the hero’s dad. As far as I’m concerned, the author did not do her hero any favors by putting him in the crosshairs of his father – the man is a tyrant. I hope some future story has that man mellowing or someone puts him in his place. Walker is a man to be respected, not manipulated. The author did her job well because I totally, completely, liked Walker.

There is humor, heart and a sweetness to the way this story was written that made me feel good. I liked the sensual build up and the concentration on their blossoming relationship. When they finally culminate their simmering passions it’s with words of restraint, beauty and respect to the romance. Thumbs up in my book.

The Accidental Bride has everything I’ve come to love from the talented Ms. Skye. Of course that means food references too. She has her heroines creating, eating or enjoying the most amazing foods in her novels and this one is no exception. I like it when the author includes books for reference or sites to visit. It makes her stories more real because in that way, a reader can experience some of the same yummy excitement as the characters. Personally, I’d rather just eat it verses make it, but you get the idea. I really enjoyed myself reading this latest romance from Ms. Skye and it’s a definite recommend.

One look into her eyes, and the prince recognizes her. She is his betrothed, the runaway Princess of Serephinia. All her denials cannot change that, or alter the passion that burgeons between them. To fullfil their destinies, the prince will do anything–abduct her, coerce her, or, best of all seduce his reluctant bride into his royal world of peril, promise and passion.

Sometimes I hanker after a story about an arrogant, self-assured prince, castles and long ago told prophecies. In The Runaway Princess, the prince finds a woman that thwarts him, astounds him and simply does not conform to what he perceives a princess to be. He’s so sure she’s lying. He’s so sure he knows best. This tale is appealing because Prince Danior learns a thing or two of what being a real hero is all about. Evangeline beguiles him and seduces him by just being herself; and I enjoyed myself all the way through.

The heroine is quite the little escape artist. She’s well read, has lofty dreams and a pure heart. She’s also stubborn to a fault. I liked her character but I was shocked as to how she could conceive action from reading. If only I could do that. Then again, some of the things she did would make me cower in a corner and suck my thumb. Danior has his hands full. Since he’s so full of himself, Evangeline is the perfect partner for him. She knows how to use a well-placed knee and not afraid to do it. I chuckled quite a few times from her cheeky escapades.

Absolutely, Danior annoyed me. Any man would who was so commanding, autocratic and self-assured to the point of arrogance. However, give the hero his due, he shoulders a huge responsibility and his willingness to shoulder even more is a daunting task and worthy of respect. The extent to which the heroine messes with his intent was comical. She even tells him the truth, repeatedly, continually. What a stubborn man. He tried so hard to remain unaffected so it was doubly pleasing when he finally let loose. Oh, he has his misguided internal angst to deal with but eventually he figures things out and his ultimate decision was oh so very romantic.

Even though this book is tagged as paranormal, it’s not in the form of the latest fashion. It’s more a spiritual woo-woo with a bit of magic. A reader will put the clues together and figure out who is who long before the hero and heroine do. The thing is, I enjoyed seeing the ‘how’ of it and despite suspecting the big reveal, I was entertained and charmed by how the author chose to have things happen.

As far as villains, I was surprised. I really thought I knew who was bad. I had my own bit of arrogance thrown back at me when the truth was revealed. Actually, Evangeline and I were both duped. I liked that. What I find astounding is that one of the villains actually has his own story! I liked The Runaway Princess enough to wonder if this was the only book or if this was a series. Imagine my delight when I found that there was one more. Imagine my shock when I discovered who it was about. I’m buying it.

Even though I thought that it was impossible to put the written word into immediate unrehearsed action, I don’t fault the writing too hard for doing that because it provided some greatly entertaining scenes and plot shifts. Did I think the heroine went one episode too far? Yes, I did. But the results of its occurrence can’t be disputed as being pivotal, so I have to bow to the author’s fantastical suspension of logic. This book aims to entertain, and it does.

The Runaway Princess is fun, especially for a reader who likes to see a haughty royal getting humbled by love. It’s entertaining and a well told story. I only wished there was an epilogue because I would have enjoyed seeing if they had a boy or a girl. Because Danior and Evangeline were a cute couple, I would have liked to have seen the two as parents in the future. In any event, I think historical fantasy readers might like them too. It’s worth checking out.

Riley has denied her birthright her entire life. She descends from a strong line of witches and warlocks, but she’s refused her powers up until now. With the help of her estranged grandfather she learns that her mystery man is from the past and his life is in danger. Will her grandfather help her travel back to 1963 to save the man she believes she’s meant to be with? A man she knows nothing about but feels a strong connection to.

If she finds him, can she save him from the evil that haunts them both? By securing his past, she knows there can never be a future for them in her time.

Riley Sparrow, a 25 year old single journalist, has had sleepless nights due to visits from a handsome sexy blond who visits her in her dreams asking her to find him. Riley is at a loss until she ask the stranger how and what does she need to do to find him? He replies “Tucker”.

Tucker is Riley’s estranged grandfather who she hasn’t seen in ten years because of an argument between her grandfather and father. Riley comes from a bloodline of warlocks and witches, but her father has never been willing to accept that. With the help of her grandfather’s transporting spell, Riley is able to go back in time; 1963 to be exact. Dean Archer is Riley’s grandfather’s college roommate, and also the man that has been appearing in her dreams. The transporting spell is a success and Riley is able to go back and forth between past and present zones.

I enjoyed the author’s idea and plot of time traveling. The visits to Riley’s dreams, the teasing for brief visits and tempting kisses exciting Riley to find this mystery man. However, Riley’s visits are often and lengthy; making for slow moments within the novel. Riley seems to forget about her present life and only wants to spend time with Dean in the past. Their relationship grows and they become fond of each other, but neither seems to try to prevent such an awkward relationship or they didn’t seem to put forth much effort to see what help Dean needed. I was basically wondering okay when will the pieces to the puzzle going to start fitting? While I enjoyed seeing the relationship between Riley and Dean grow, the sensible side of me kept wondering how this relationship could work. How will the author pull this off? Will Riley alter Dean’s original history? I was curious so I kept reading. Turns out I was very impressed that the author not only wrapped the story up but also included a villain to add some flare to the storyline. With determination, some spells and sacrifices the author did a wonderful job bringing this novel to a happy ending.

Find Me is a fascinating time travel romance that I would recommend to those looking for something a bit different. The author has a flair that shows her talent to create a fascinating and believable story. The novel is cleverly planned and well written, with a resolution that is completely unexpected. This is an author I will be sure to follow.

Treat Her Right

Gorgeous, statuesque fitness expert Wynn Lane can’t help but fall for her sexy neighbor, paramedic Zack Granger, and his adorable daughter. But brash, outspoken Wynn is not Zack’s idea of mommy material, even though she’s making daddy’s libido do flip-flops. Still, the laws of attraction rule—and Wynn is a force of nature all her own!

Mr. November

Creating a beefcake calendar for charity, Amanda Barker has found the perfect Mr. November, super-buff firefighter Josh Marshall. But the notorious ladies’ man is a hard sell, and she’s forced to negotiate with the only collateral he’ll accept: a date with her! Josh knows where there’s smoke, there’s fire—but this could burn completely out of control….

What’s not to like about a fireman and an EMT? Especially when they are die hard bachelors who don’t have time to pursue love and fate decides to send them their exact opposites to tease and confound them. I loved how the two men were so different and the women that tamed them were unique and fun to get to know. Having two fun stories in a row is the perfect weekend treat and I enjoyed every moment because the one thing Ms. Foster knows how to do is write romance.

Condition upsetting your nervous operation, which is precisely come across ended up of your brain, nerves female viagra sildenafil along with spinal cord grouping termed neurogenic. If unica-web.com purchase viagra ignored, it can lead to permanent deformity and scarring. The first story was Treat Her Right which follows a man who works grueling hours as an EMT. His free time is spent exclusively with one woman, his four year old daughter, Dani. The author makes it very clear early on that Zack’s main love of his life is his daughter. Their dialogue and interaction was cute, oftentimes funny and it gave the hero’s character emotional depth. It’s Dani that breaks the ice with the new neighbor and once that door was opened, it was a wonderful journey of discovery.

Wynn is a unique heroine. She’s tall, she’s rough and she has some wicked self-defense moves. She uses her techniques on Zack much to his chagrin and my delight. I love how Ms. Foster gave her heroine unruly hair and I laughed out loud when I met her parents for the first time. It was comedic and charming and Wynn ends up being perfect for Zack. Of course, he fought it like a stubborn bachelor would. It was Dani who recognized the possibilities that Wynn represented and she liked them, a lot. Kids are smart that way.

The camaraderie between Zack, Mick and Josh was pure entertainment. Throw in Wynn’s eccentric but well-meaning parents and the author presented a wonderful backdrop community to support Zack and Wynn’s romance. Add in the other muscle guys and there were many moments of ear to ear grins.

When Zack and Wynn finally get to scratch the sensual itch, it was very steamy. The hammock scene was hot and the hot tub scene was sexy and cute too. The physical side of their romance was well written and very romantic. I liked how Ms. Foster wrapped up the story because it made me smile. I enjoyed myself immensely reading Treat Her Right.

The second story was Mr. November. It made all the sexy hot posters of bare chested firemen in turnout gear that I’ve ever seen come to life in glorious complexity. Josh was the playboy in Zack’s story but this time around he’s found a lady who confounds him, challenges him and confuses the heck out of him. What kind of woman can make a fancy free bachelor toe the line?

Amanda, the calendar organizer, is Josh’s Achilles heel. She is the one with the issues and they are a real stumbling block to romance – as far as she is concerned. She is hard on herself but her standoffish attitude doesn’t protect her from Josh. I liked seeing her emotional growth under his care. Of course his ‘care’ isn’t the normal kind, which confuses her and has the heroine bemused much of the time. His tenderness, his seduction techniques and his perseverance wears her down so she eventually shares with the hero her internal pain. It’s Josh’s reaction that has her daring to hope in the impossible. I liked the dance between the two as they got to know each other and I felt it was the strongest appealing aspect of the story.

Whereas with Zack’s story the sex occurred early on in the tale, with Josh it was a slow, simmering buildup that had me flipping the pages in earnest. What was Josh going to have to do or say to convince Amanda to take a chance on him and on their budding relationship? The answer was very romantic, yet I imagine very painful for Josh. He really showed his heroic colors in this story for sure, most certainly his patience and commitment to loving Amanda. How can a book get any more romantic that that?

The epilogue wrap up was sweet, all-encompassing and satisfying. I love a good happy ever after.

Heartbreakers is a must have for fans of Ms. Foster. It has everything I love about her books; sexy alpha men, strong female heroines and delightful emotional characterizations that make me care about them, enough to make me cheer and get giddy happy when the romance comes to fruition. Even though it’s a two book novel, it was a fast read because it flowed so well, the dialogue was awesome and the dynamics between the primary characters and secondary characters were so well grounded yet unique and entertaining. I completely enjoyed myself while reading this book and I definitely recommend it to romance readers everywhere.

Mother knows best. The poor knight in this tale didn’t stand a chance because he had the most amazingly manipulative mother I’ve ever read about. What I liked were her reasons for doing so. She loved her son and would do anything to get him married. However, the lengths that woman went to should be an Olympic event. I was greatly amused. Jonathan, most assuredly, was not.

I think that’s why I liked this short story so much. There wasn’t any meanness or criminal plots to deal with. Knight of My Dreams was simply fun, romantic and entertaining and charming. I enjoyed watching Alice and Jonathan together and seeing the hero’s fascination with the heroine grow by leaps and bounds. I appreciated the sensual tease and build-up and the internal and external dialogue that occurred. It kept me abreast of just how hard and fast they were both falling for each other.

Something else I liked were the secondary characters that assisted in the rouse. I think Jonathan’s mom was the most fleshed out, with Alice’s mother coming in a close second. The two were obviously well versed in proper behavior and etiquette but the author let me see a glimpse here and there of the young women they once were. What a lively pair!

Things came to a head when the hero’s mom went one scheme too far but as with all terrific romance stories, a happy ever after is in the offing once the truth is revealed. I got a kick out of the fact that the hero was the last to know especially since it was his own mother and he really should have known better. I guess is it’s because the hero was slightly and delightfully distracted by Alice. That works for me.

This novelette moves at a quick clip with interesting schemes happening one after the other. Perhaps some depth of characterization might have suffered from the fast pace but I didn’t dwell too much about that. I was too busy laughing when Alice and Jonathan were continually interrupted and thwarted and because of that could understand their sensual frustration. Call me twisted but I thought it funny.

If a historical romance fan needs a quick fix of romantic delight, look no further than Knight of My Dreams. It’s sweet, comical and has a grin worthy promise of a happy ever after. It’s worth reading.

Thinking the worst is over—she rides into town seeking to regain ownership of her family’s farm. What she uncovers is more shocking than anything she imagined. Will she make the ultimate sacrifice to right a wrong committed against her people? Or will Trip convince her that he has a better way?

A fascinating book with Native American influence as well as paranormal. Shye is trying to recover her parents land and home which the local banker, Carter, has tricked them into selling. To do this she must discredit the banker and his partner Pike. In a previous book she has met Trip who wants revenge on Pike who killed his brother.

Shye’s ability to borrow shadows of animals and humans and become them for a short period helps them in both their quests. They have also fallen helplessly in love and consider themselves soul mates.

I really enjoyed reading this book, but – there’s always a but isn’t there – I got a bit lost as I haven’t read the previous two books. In fact until I originally thought there was only one previous book until I looked at the title page. As these are short books I feel the excitement and tenseness of the quest is lost by not knowing what happened before or having the sequel to hand. This would be much better as a complete book instead of a series.

That said, I loved the way Shye is Native American but with a modern day twist as she has served in the Armed Forces. Shye and Trip are the heroes and Carter and Pike the villains. The schemes Shye invents to work her way round her problems are unique and can only be solved by using her shadowing talents. Trip is her able backup. Both characters have been alone in their adult lives but together they make a whole. Wonderfully written and very descriptive which allowed me to see every scene in detail. Great book to while away the afternoon.

When Officer Jackson Duggan entered Sew Amazing looking for the perfect present for his mother, he never thought he would find a gift waiting just for him. But, Jackson’s not ready to move on from a love he shared in the past.

With Holly sprinting toward her future and Jackson clinging to the past, will the pair stop long enough to enjoy the present? Or will a threat neither of them saw coming ruin the opportunity before they even get a chance?

Jackson is out on Black Friday, looking for the perfect Christmas gift for his mother. Struck by inspiration, he enters Sew Amazing, a new craft store that he hadn’t been to yet. There, he meets the owner, Holiday (Holly). Holly brings out all kinds of emotions Jackson thought was long dead. The pain of losing his wife is still raw, despite the three years that’s passed. When Holly’s store is broken into, Jackson’s work as the local sheriff bring them back together again. And soon he’s certain these aren’t fleeting feelings that will pass quickly.

This is a warm hearted story about a man trying to move on past the loss of his wife, but uncertain about how to do so. Holly is a caring and gentle woman, and the reader is left in no doubt how well they’d work together. I think the slow, uncertain progression of their romance is sure to suit many tastes. I was a little disappointed by how Jackson was initially unwilling to act on his feelings for Holly. While I understand the passing of his wife was devastating, it certainly seemed time for him to move on, and quashing his feelings for Holly didn’t seem sensible when Jackson was otherwise a level-headed, logical man. I also wasn’t a fan of how Jackson ran hot then cold, wanting to date Holly and be with her one minute then talking himself out of it the next. While I understand his misgivings I didn’t enjoy the uncertainty (and lack of self-awareness) this showed in Jackson, who was a solid, reliable, logical man in all other respects.

This indecision in Jackson also made me feel a little as if the plotline of Holly being threatened by her ex-lover, Derrick, was forced, or a tool to make Jackson protective and get closer to Holly. Personally, I’d have enjoyed Derrick’s plot a lot more if Jackson and Holly were simply taking the progress of their relationship slowly (and not denying their attraction) and Derrick sped things along for them. Seeing Derrick as a reason to force Jackson into taking action made the whole plot feel a bit clichéd for me, and that was sad because there was a lot of other really good points I enjoyed in this book.

The characters are wonderfully vibrant and I enjoyed Holly and her determination to make her new life and shop work. I also enjoyed Jackson, and found his attachment to his friends and mother quite endearing. Readers interested in a slower-moving romance, and one filled with a small town filled with interesting characters should really enjoy this story. There is one sexy scene toward the end of the book. While it is descriptive, I didn’t find it overly explicit. The bedroom door is partially open though. I’d recommend this book to close friends – but not necessarily my mother or granny. I enjoyed the extra bit of spice between Holly and Jackson, but readers wanting a sweeter romance might want to keep this in mind when selecting this book.

A fun and warm-hearted romance, this is book has a small-town feel. There were characters I could enjoy and a straight forward plot one always appreciates in a comfort read.
