The beautiful Jane is hovering at the edge of content in her life of solitude in the quiet town of Jasmyn Lake, but when her energy sends her on a journey to meet the man she has been dreaming about for months, she cannot resist. Meet sexy artist Elias, who moved to Hazel Grove, California to get away from the rain, his parents, and everything that was taken from him in Hayward, Washington. But he thinks he may be losing his mind when he starts seeing purple glitter in the air, the scent of rosemary is everywhere, and he is hearing a beautiful voice.

But all is not flowers and ease for the newly joined couple. With a woman who prefers night to day and a man with heartache from his past, they must learn how to create their own new world with grace and the occasional water feature. Written with humor and intensity, book one of the three part trilogy will leave you yearning for more and daydreaming shades of purple.

Elias knows Jane is unique, but he has no idea just how special she really is.

Elias and Jane are destined to be together. When they finally meet, it is very much a love at first sight connection. Even though it is easy to accept the fact that Jane and Elias are meant to be together, their relationship progresses at lightning speed. They barely have time to get to know each other before they are facing some life and relationship changing events that any couple, let alone a new couple, would find challenging. I would have liked to watch them spend more time together just being a normal couple before things became so serious.

Ms. Burke did a wonderful job describing the beautiful world she created. Jasmyn Lake sounds absolutely gorgeous. I also enjoyed the concept of enchanters and the way that Ms. Burket described their colorful auras. As I read, I could really see Jane’s purple aura floating around her. I do wish that more detail had been given concerning the history of the enchanters and the various families. Ms. Burke provides enough history to keep things from getting confusing, but I was left wanting more.

There is an epic battle toward the end of the book between Jane and her friends and a pack of unknown enchanters. However, there is very little explanation as to why Jane is being attacked in the first place. Even Jane didn’t seem to have any clear idea of why she was targeted. The scene was jam packed with suspense that had me on the edge of my seat, but without a clear explanation for why it was happening, it didn’t make much sense to me. I can only hope that more information is provided in the next book of the series.

Despite this issue, I enjoyed reading Violet Midnight. Jane is certainly an entertaining character and the world she inhabits is simply stunning. Fans of love at first sight romance should give this tale a try.

Three years ago, Morgan Parrish was embroiled in her father’s plan to marry a man who was destined for the presidency. There was just one problem: Morgan was in love with and pregnant by another man. When the house of cards her father had built came tumbling down, Morgan fled town and the backlash. Now, she’s stuck in Harmony Falls after a childhood bank account turns out to be empty. Even more shocking, the child she intended to place for adoption rather than cause more scandal is at her side.

As the son of the town drunk, life hasn’t always been easy for Charlie Cramer. Maybe that’s why he’s holding on to his own sobriety and his brand-new restaurant so tightly—too tightly if his grouchiness and control-freak tendencies in the kitchen are any indication. To make matters worse, Morgan Parrish is back in town … and she has a surprise for him. He’s a daddy! Can he face the truth and not lose the stability he’s worked so hard to achieve these last three years?

When a staff shortage ends up with Morgan waitressing at the bistro five nights a week, old feelings come to a boil. But there’s even more to consider, now. If they give in to the attraction and screw things up again, a precious little girl will have to deal with the fallout. On the other hand, if they can make this work, they’ll be a family. It’s the biggest risk either one of them will ever take.

I found it next to impossible to put it down, as I kept telling myself ‘one more chapter, one more chapter’, because I wanted to know what would happen with Morgan and Charlie.

Morgan easily wins you over with how much she cares for her daughter. The lengths she’s willing to go to, to provide a home and security for her child is really moving. She is also a woman who has clearly made some pretty big mistakes in her past, and you have to respect her every time she faces up to them.

I loved Charlie. Elley Arden really shows you his struggle and therefore his strength in resisting the temptation to start drinking again. He’s got a fun sense of humor but can be prickly. He has feelings for Morgan but has been burned by her one to many times, and watching him struggle against those feelings and the way Morgan reacts to it, ranges from amusing to romantic.

It did bother me that Morgan never told Charlie, until her return to town, that she had decided to keep their child and hadn’t given her up for adoption two years ago as she had originally planned. She was never really called out on this, and despite all the issues between her and Charlie, that one was never brought up save for a few passing lines despite striking me as a really big deal.

I also never got much of sense for the town of Harmony Falls. The book is the third in a series centered on the town, but I didn’t get much of a feel for the community. The only real sense I got was that it was unpleasant as the majority of the population was downright rude to Morgan for things that were either none of their business or not her fault. This made it hard to not completely agree with Morgan and her desire to get as far away from the town as possible.

Despite being the third book of the series, the author does a good job of catching you up on previous events. I never felt out of the loop or uninformed, and the story was focused on the present, not the past.

The characters are the real strength of this book. They are detailed and fleshed out and I got a real sense of each and every one of them, the main characters as well as the supporting cast. I was definitely interested in the plot and how things would turn out, but it was the people inhabiting the story that kept me turning the pages.

This book made me interested in reading the rest of the series and I will certainly be checking them out. The next time you’re in the mood to read a good romance, I recommend you try this one. Only be warned, you won’t be able to make do with one chapter.

A MAN CONDEMNED . . .

Falsely accused of murder and mute from a near-fatal beating, Apollo Greaves, Viscount Kilbourne has escaped from Bedlam. A DESPERATE WOMAN . . .

London’s premier actress, Lily Stump, is down on her luck when she’s forced to move into a scorched theatre with her maid and small son. But she and her tiny family aren’t the only inhabitants—a silent, hulking beast of a man also calls the charred ruins home. Yet when she catches him reading her plays, Lily realizes there’s more to this man than meets the eye.

OUT OF ASH, DESIRE FLARES

Though scorching passion draws them together, Apollo knows that Lily is keeping secrets. When his past catches up with him, he’s forced to make a choice: his love for Lily . . . or the explosive truth that will set him free.

Actress and single mother Lily Stump had only one theatre where she could perform. When that theatre burned down, it left her in dire straits. Until it’s rebuilt, she has no income, and, so is living with her son and servant in a few of the rooms left standing and barely habitable. Her son, Indio, enjoys playing on the grounds, and has become fascinated with the man in charge of designing the gardens. This large, mute, man is none other than Apollo Greaves, Viscount Kilbourne, who is there to hide out, as he’s a wanted man. Years ago, Apollo was falsely accused of murder, and then committed to Bedlam by a relative. He was all but starved there, and horribly abused. As he tried to help a fellow inmate from being attacked, he was beaten and had his throat crushed, and has been unable to speak since. He later was aided in escaping from Bedlam, and he came here to his friend and business partner to seek refuge.

The little boy, Indio, tells his mother that he has seen a monster in the gardens. He’s referring to Apollo, with his great height, huge shoulders and craggy features. Lily goes to investigate and encounters Apollo, who can’t speak in order to answer her questions. She believes him to be dimwitted, but soon comes to believe him harmless, and Indio invites him for dinner. Eventually, they develop a sort of friendship. As Lily and Apollo become more familiar with each other, they discover that the other has secrets and hidden depths. This unlikely couple has an explosive chemistry and they become lovers. I am a sucker for someone who has been falsely accused and imprisoned. Despite all he has endured, Apollo has retained his humanity. He is loving and gentle with Lily and Indio. He has an artistic soul, and is pouring it into the creation of the new theatre’s gardens. He wants to regain his life, but not for the sake of becoming an idle aristocrat. He has humor and honor, and I half fell in love with him myself. Lily is smart, loyal, and strong, but not hard. Their love story was beautifully developed and romantic, while the mystery of who framed Apollo had me reading as fast as I could to see the resolution. Elizabeth Hoyt also includes a little snippet at the beginning of each chapter. It’s usually part of a fairy tale, which parallels her story. These snippets are well thought out, and add to the enjoyment of the book. I found myself looking forward to the resolution of the secondary story almost as much as the first.

I highly recommend this stellar addition to the amazing Maiden Lane series. If you like books with characters who are a cut above the ordinary, breathtaking romance, and page turning excitement, this beast may be just what you’re looking for.

After a night of intrigue during Katherine’s birthday, she discovers the map does include love in the legend, but will the map lead her to Budapest and the dark, brooding Hungarian she’s just met?

Quiet and dark (much like its hero), The Hungarian is a treat to be savored and not sped through.

I’ve read other books by Ms. Burkhart, but this one is different. It’s slower paced, and has a much darker, gothic feel. It started rather abruptly with our protagonists meeting in the heroine’s family library, and I was surprised at how forward both were considered the times and the fact they didn’t know each other. Still, Katherine is a bit atypical for her time being learned (she loves to read and is fascinated by astronomy and astrology) and plans on opening her own business: a bookstore.

There are plenty of subplots beyond just the romance (and its “hairy” problems), with intrigues including a custody battle and a question of Count Duma’s paternity (as well as a very angry and jealous rival, who believes they are brothers). But even with these, the story meanders a bit. I love the author’s writing ability and her voice, and I’m a big fan of her books, but this one wasn’t quite as gripping as her others have been. Still, she’s managed to create interesting and unique characters, especially those which populate Count Duma’s household and I was invested enough in them to keep reading even when the pace slowed a bit.

Moving between England and Hungary, and highlighting the difference between the countries, was fascinating. The road to our lovers’ happy ever after is not easy and certainly has its bumps, but Katherine, especially is an admirable character and I enjoyed watching her learn, adjust and accept Matthias for who (and what) he was.

The last several chapters of this book are clearly setting up the next, and I look forward to seeing Ms. Burkhart redeem one of the less admirable characters from this book.

If you like paranormal romances with a deeply gothic feel, this one would be a good fit. It’s a little outside the norm of romance and paranormal books and is written by a skilled author who knows how to turn a phrase.

A cold night at a upstate university in New York we meet Melody Wilkins, a hopeless romanticize who accidentally bumps into this cute Paul Newman look-a-like named Kevin.

Next is tough girl Imani Jordan who has a sixth sense and is serious about her education.

Finally, is 6’2″ famed campus football player Lance Dunn, who is no stranger to the ladies on campus.

Since they met at freshman orientation the three have formed a lasting bond of friendship. I found it strange the author didn’t give much of a back story to show the details of how they met and even why they met and became so close. Even a glimpse to what attracted them to each other and brought them together is something I wondered through out the book; hoping the author would touch on it, but it never came. However we do see that the bond the three has built is obviously very strong.

With the title being The Color of Friendship I was expecting a vivid description of the characters, however again the author didn’t give much details. Melody was described as having thick blond curls and being of mixed race. A description of Imani and Lance was lacking.

Melody was naive and seemed to have had a sheltered upbringing. Kevin was very manipulative, possessive and turns out to be abusive. Imani worked my nerves because it seemed she didn’t have a life, she just coached and judged everyone else life. Lance was so shallow and didn’t respect himself or females. He seemed to have the idea that he is on earth to concur every female he met.   I can say he was very adamant about having protected sex. The tickling and raspberries I found weird for a bunch of supposedly mature college kids.

At first the story was pretty slow.  They only talked about who liked who, where everyone was working during the school breaks or going to some type of campus party or event.  Readers need to keep in mind that, due to the setting and age of the characters, profanity and sex are commonplace in this story.  Many times I thought about putting it down, thinking it would be a better read for someone closer to college age because nothing exciting was happening.  I didn’t give up, though, and had hopes that something was going to happen and the author did not let me down.

The story picked up tremendously in the middle. The author described a detailed scene of a football play by play in great detail. There was a love scene where her word usage was impressive. The message about abuse was real and relatable. Even though the story could have been shorter and less drawn out I have to say after I finished I was impressed — it ended up being a pretty good read!

This is a book I would recommend reading to those who like a story that builds up to the interesting fast pace part. There is a sequel, and with the way this book ended I will be reading the second installment.

Almost everyone is creative as a child, but only a small percentage of people remember how to access that part of themselves when they grow up. One of the things I enjoyed the most about this novella was seeing how the characters wrestled with their creative sparks. This was my first introduction to Ms. Propps’ work. I was pleased with how thoroughly she seems to understand both artistic culture and her characters.

It would have been helpful if the characters who become romantically involved with one another had had more time to get to know each other platonically first. I understand being wildly attracted to someone you’ve just met, but the emotional side of their relationship moved far too quickly for me to find it believable. Portraying it as a purely sexual matter would have worked better for these particular characters since they’ve just met and only limited information about the rest of their lives was shared.

The science fiction elements of this tale were richly detailed and compelling. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect at first due to how evasive the blurb was about this part of the plot. Not having any advanced knowledge of what would happen turned out to be a good thing, though, given how quickly everything begins to make sense.

I’d recommend In the Garden of Eve to fans of science fiction and romance novels alike.

Fighting her desire for Cooper, Jessa has no choice but to join forces with the maverick cowboy. Jessa knows working together is their best shot at keeping the child safe. But it’s the possibility of a future alone that breaks Jessa’s heart.

This action packed romantic suspense novel also packs an emotional punch as the life of a little boy hangs in the balance. This is the first book in the Sweetwater Ranch series.

In general, there is an idea that cialis fast shipping these pills are injurious to health. However, there are circumstances where viagra online prices deeprootsmag.org your doctor’s approval is required before taking the medication. But, when Jessa’s young son is in need of a blood donation, Cooper comes to the rescue. The weird thing about that is Liam has a very rare blood type and the odds of there being a donor in this small community are astronomical. Cooper does the math and while it’s possible he is just grasping at straws the coincidences just keep piling up. Could it be possible that Liam is his son? A child that was supposedly killed in an accident but whose body was never recovered? How could Jessa have adopted him if this were the case?

Despite their obvious differences there is a physical attraction between Jessa and Cooper. If they had met under different circumstances they might have been friends or maybe even dated. That doesn’t seem possible under the circumstances, or is it?

The first book in a series can be difficult because the author has to introduce the main characters, future characters and weave a story in there too. In this case there were just too many threads and the story was “too busy”. Other than acknowledging to themselves there was an attraction to one another, the first half of the book pretty much left romance out of the equation. In fact, I couldn’t see how this was going to work when Jessa was trying to prove Cooper’s mother was a murderer and Cooper was trying to take Jessa’s son away on top one more major issue that brings them both to the breaking point. So, by the time the pair act upon the attraction it felt forced and the chemistry was flat.

The other issue I had was a storyline I felt had a lot of potential, and at first I thought it was going to be the main thread, stayed in the background and it was never resolved. It simply fizzled into nothingness. Now in all fairness, this is a series romance and we will be visiting some of these characters again in the future, so it is very possible this particular thread will play out over time and finally get resolved.

The action starts up very quickly and the story moves along at a good clip which kept me interested. The no win situation involving Liam was very emotional and I struggled to stay neutral and avoid taking sides. I could not imagine having to turn over the child I raised as my own and thought I had legal custody of. I also couldn’t imagine losing a child and then realizing this child could still be alive. Cooper had every right to explore that possibility and if he was the father he had legal rights to his child. But, wow, what a sticky situation and I had to wonder what would be the best thing for Liam in the long run.

The suspense level reached a fever pitch in the last few chapters. It was nail biting , edge of your seat action and chock full of big reveals and super nasty bad guys. This also brought down the gauntlet between Cooper and Jessa. Faced with the prospect of losing Liam and Jessa, Cooper realized what really mattered most in life and no matter what he wanted to be with Jessa and Liam. The other theme the book explored was strong family ties and the support system a family offers us when we are going through hard and confusing times in our lives.

Although there were some rocky moments here and there I enjoyed this book and found it entertaining. I will certainly look out for the upcoming chapters in this series. I’m looking forward to getting to know Cooper’s brothers and exploring the McKinnon family dynamic. It should make for some interesting reading. The most important thing is this book did leave me with a smile on my face and a feeling that things worked out for the good of everyone involved.

Warning: Watch out for falling lumber, falling in holes, and falling for the wrong guy again. You can leave your hard hat on.

Texas Twist is the fourth book in the Montgomery Mavericks Series. It is a wonderful story full of emotions, heartache and passion. To put it simply, Texas Twist is another fabulous job by Cynthia D’Alba.

It’s finally time for the youngest Montgomery brother to get his happy ending. Cash is a cocky, self assured, two time championship bull rider. He thought he had everything until that one bad ride when he almost lost his life. Now, he’s feeling the damage and drowning his sorrows in whiskey. But then fate steps in with a second chance when a woman from his past shows up and helps him get back in the saddle. So to speak ….

Paige Ryan fell for Cash when she was just a teenager. She gave him her heart and her virginity only to watch him walk away afterward. He broke her heart and she’s determined to not repeat the mistake again. But, who could resist a sexy, smooth talking cowboy ?

This book really tugged at my heart. Cash was such a great character as he struggled to find himself. He’d really lost the one thing that made him who he was and now he had to look deep inside. This book had so many emotional scenes that it’s hard for me to picka favorite one. There was this one part where Cash was feeling like an outsider in the family, there were a couple where he started to realize that he had a drinking problem, and then again when he was so panic stricken at something that happened near the end and he realized that his brothers only wanted to help him. See? It had too many great scenes to choose from. Paige was absolutely the best woman to help our lost cowboy. She’s strong and has had to cope with her own loss over the years. She’s such a calming influence on the troubled Cash without even meaning to at first. Then there was the sexual chemistry that was there, and a truth that she found her way into his heart a long time ago.

The book had a great plot. The broken cowboy part really did it for me, you know. It was impossible not to instantly connect with him. I liked the characters and romance and especially the hot love scenes. I especially liked that all the Montgomerys came together in this one. As usual, the writing was excellent with a smooth flow that made it easy to read. It also had a couple of twists here and there, a bit of edgy drama, and a couple of secrets that were revealed. Aside from the romance, this one is all about family and Cash finding his true self worth. It’s about healing from a broken heart and a battered spirit. Most of all, it’s a really wonderful story.

I loved this one. It really stood out for me in every way. Finally, let me just say that while I’ve truly enjoyed them all, Texas Twist will remain my favorite.

Anny Conrad is a single thirty-year-old librarian—a cliché complete with two cats. Dragged out to a local bar, she’s rethinking her life plan over a few drinks when a man walks up and asks her to dance. And what a man. Tall, rugged and more than a little untamed. Before she knows it, she’s in his arms and throwing caution to the wind.

Wolf in Her Bed is N. J. Walters’ next book in the Salvation pack series, set in the world so well established in the first book. This is a dangerous world, with strong and honorable heroes, and equally strong women who learn to accept that which they cannot change, and make changes where they can. The romance is just this side of scorching, and the passion rises from the page to draw the reader in to the story.

Armand LaForge is on edge after the attacks on the pack in Salvation, attacks by their old pack back in Louisiana. The only good thing to have come out of this war so far is that their alpha, Jacque LaForge, found his mate, even if Jacque’s evil father nearly killed her when he attacked.

Armand needs to find a way to relax, and decides one beer at the local roadhouse might help. Anny Conrad has gone for a birthday drink with her friend Sue, and watches as her friend dances and has a fun evening. Anny is a quiet woman, but Armand notices her in the crowded room, wondering why she looks a bit sad among all the people. When he asks her to dance, his wolf recognizes her as his mate, and Armand knows he has to walk away, rather than draw Anny into the pack wars they are fighting. Unfortunately, the pack is being watched, and as careful as Armand is, his father still gets news of his one night with Anny, and comes to teach his wayward son a lesson, almost killing Anny. Can Anny accept what she has become, and build a new life that could include Armand? Can the Salvation pack keep her safe, and stop Remy LaForge from doing any more damage? Can two scarred and lonely hearts heal each other, for a happy ever after, in spite of the danger ahead?

Anny Conrad is a quiet and sensitive woman, happy to enjoy simple things. She has a core of inner strength, however, and I like how she decides to, just once, grab what life offers her in Armand. I like that she is willing to experience all that he has to offer, even if it is only for one night. I liked that she had the courage to try and fight off Remy, and when she was dying, she had the strength to accept her wolf, and live.

Armand LaForge, cousin to the Alpha of Salvation Pack, is strong, but scarred, both inside and out. He knows, deep inside, he has to let Anny go to keep her safe, but he has one moment of weakness, one night in her arms before he says goodbye. I like Armand with his sense of honor and strength of character, and his willingness to turn away from his mate rather than see her hurt, or worse. I also like his determination to protect Anny after he learns of her attack. I liked watching as he slowly worked past her defenses, making a place in her heart and her life.

There is a lot of passion and romance here, and five deliciously hot werewolves to delight. There is also danger at every turn, from the spies from the Louisiana pack, and later from Armand’s father Remy. I enjoyed the fast pace of this one, it made me cry, sigh and there were some giggles in there as well. If hot and strong heroes, sassy and independent women and lots of searing romance are what you enjoy, this is well worth the reading. I recommend that these two books be read in order for the most enjoyment, but there is enough background to make this one stand alone.
