A hot one-night stand could lead to a once-in-a-lifetime chance at love.

Women in Hollywood, Book 3

As the producer of one of TV’s highest-rated shows, Kem Phillips has a knack for creating the perfect leading man. But love in real life? No thanks. She has no interest in repeating her mother’s mistakes.

Thank goodness the star of her newest project is discreet. No one knows about the one-night stand they indulged in at her best friend’s wedding. He’s also a gentleman who always seems to be there when she’s in a jam.

Brent McKenzie has had his share of memorable moments, but that night with Kem is as fresh and hot in his mind as if it was yesterday. He’d love to be the man who comes to her rescue in all possible ways—if she’d let him.

When an emergency call sends Kem racing home to Louisiana, she goes against her better judgment and accepts Brent’s offer to go with her. Yet as everything she thought was true about her past crumbles, is his emotional support something solid to lean on…or a crutch she dare not trust?

This is the third book in the Women of Hollywood series.  Kem Phillips, a television producer, and Brent McKenzie, an actor connect at her friend’s Charlotte’s wedding. Dancing and a night cap is only the start of this hot love affair. Brent has proven to be a man that stands with his woman, but when his past comes uncovered will Kem be an emotional support to Brent?

Secrets Uncovered is a easy quick read. As with the prior books in the series the author’s writing style is one that is easy to read and the plot is a easy one to follow. I admire the close relationship between the women in the series. They keep in touch and are always there for each other with positive feedback.

The relationship between Kem and Brent moves pretty fast. It would have been nice if they’d gotten to know each other first before jumping in the sack. This seems to be the trend with the Women of Hollywood series. No courting phase just straight to the bedroom and then a predictable happy ever after relationship.

Brent was a true man and very helpful in Kem’s time of need. He had Kem’s best interest at heart in connecting her with her father and helping her work through her issues. Brent and Aunt Edna are likable characters. Kem, I guess with her underlying issues not so much. She was quick to end her and Brent’s relationship without even giving him a chance to explain or listen to the facts.

The series may be The Women of Hollywood but the men in Hollywood are very charming and likable. Each man in the series makes this series hot.

I’ve enjoyed the series and also come to know the author does well in delivering the steamy love scenes, romance and happy endings.

Be Careful What Secrets You Dig Up

When a young girl’s body is discovered in a shallow grave on a farm outside of Ripley, Ohio, FBI Agent Kendal McNally returns to her estranged hometown to investigate. The similarities to another murder on the same farm seventeen years earlier is unnerving, not to mention the fact that she helped put her best friend’s father behind bars for the crime. Her search for the truth puts her in the middle of a serial killer’s graveyard.

Reed Harvey’s life was turned upside down when his father was convicted of murder. It didn’t help that Kendal had been the key witness in the trial or that she turned her back on him and their friendship. Now she has returned to investigate another murder, living in an apartment above his restaurant and making him remember what almost was.

Despite their pasts, Kendal and Reed turn to each other as Kendal’s investigation unravels a web of lies in a town where everyone thought they knew everyone’s business. And when another girl goes missing, Kendal will unearth a devastating secret that may put an end to the murders—except one. Hers.

Can Kendal right the wrongs of the past?

Kendal is definitely a tough heroine. After escaping a physically and emotionally abusive father, Kendal built a successful career as an FBI agent. She never dreamed she go back to her hometown on a case she’s personally connected too. Her homecoming to Ripley is very awkward, especially given her father’s position in the community. All of their interactions are toxic and prone to exploding into scary confrontations. In addition to facing her father, Kendal also comes face to face with her former best friend and first love, Reed.

Kendal and Reed are beyond damaged by their pasts. I couldn’t help but mourn the loss of their innocence and how wonderful their budding young romance might have been. Kendal and Reed constantly doubt the other’s motivations. They have spent years keeping people at arm’s length. Kendal in particular seems to be obsessed with never letting anyone see her as weak. While I understand that Kendal and Reed have had to be strong to overcome the challenges they’ve faced in life, they just don’t seem to know when to quit. They are so busy trying to protect themselves that they fail to see the damage they do to each other. It is frustrating to watch them together because it is clear that they have strong feelings for each other, but refuse to admit it. As I read, I couldn’t help but think that one honest conversation would work wonders for the couple. Even though the road to their happy ending is going to be bumpy, I think it will all be worth it in the end.

I must say that Ms. Wolfer knows how to write a good suspense. The pacing in Shallow Graves is excellent, and I could hardly put the book down once I started it. It is difficult to figure out who the murderer is because there are several plausible suspects. The ending is well done and very satisfying. Although I must say there is still a bit of a loose end where Kendal’s father is concerned. I would really have liked to see him pay for some of the terrible things he’s done. However, I can safely assure readers that his life will never be the same now that his secrets are out.

Shallow Graves is a thoroughly enjoyable book. The characters are well rounded and the pacing kept me on the edge of my seat. I highly recommend it to fans of romantic suspense.

She had arranged to meet her husband in Northern Ireland for a second honeymoon, but when Charleigh arrives at the remote castle, she receives a message that he won’t be coming—and that he’s leaving her for another woman. There’s just one problem: he’s dead. As the castle begins to come alive with secrets from centuries past, she finds herself trapped between parallel worlds. Caught up in a mass haunting, she can no longer recognize the line between the living and the dead. What a fascinating book, and nothing like I expected.

I’ve read one other book by this author, so expected rich descriptions and well-rounded, three dimensional characters, which I certainly go here as well. I feel as if I could go to Ireland and know exactly where every square foot of this setting would be. The sights, sounds, smells and more are all well written here.

I loved the character of Charleigh, though I have to admit she took to having a ghost around a lot more readily than I would have! She’s having a rough time on her trip to Ireland, supposedly a second honeymoon after twenty years of marriage, only to be dumped via text by her philandering husband. Later, when I find out she’s known about his cheating for years and years and stayed with him, though, I did lose a bit of respect. Still, aside from that, she’s an admirable, older, less than perfectly formed heroine.

Sean is pretty awesome. He’s handsome and unbelievably crazy about Charleigh. There were a few times at the start where I was a bit overwhelmed by his attentions to her, considering we believed they’d only just met, but even so — sexy, Irish guy (er, ghost) … who could resist?

When things start to get odd, Charleigh is incredibly strong. I’m not sure what I’d have done in her place, but I wouldn’t have minded the attentions of Sean! Honestly, the hardest part about writing this review is not including spoilers, so let me simply say this: if you like romance with a surprising, paranormal twist … if you enjoy reading a book that seems to be one thing and then becomes something entirely different, the type of book you want to go back and read again the moment you finish because the twist blows your mind and you need to see where the clues were planted, then this is the book for you. While it had the occasional hiccup for me, I still very much liked it. Technically perfect, quite enjoyable and delightfully different, A Thin Slice of Heaven cemented my admiration for the author and ensures I’ll be picking up future releases.

Personal testimony: As being diagnosed with gastritis, viagra uk cheap I personally needed to take measures to improve my choices of the foods that I put into my mouth and chose to eat. I love this world that Ms. Behre has created. With Harmonized the author went a little farther out from her main characters and plotline to focus on a pair from the supporting cast, Zig and Karma. It’s intriguing because they are still part of the community where all the action has been taking place and I wonder how they are going to interact with the final sister when she’s found.

Actually, I know because I read the books out of order which allows me to say that this book can actually be a standalone read. Because Zig and Karma are secondary characters, this book presents them as separate people with different goals, conflicts, suspense and quirks than the regular novels in the series. Harmonized just takes place in the same town but this hero and heroine have something the others lack – history. It’s rich, poignant, convoluted and heart wrenching.

The premise is sort of classic – someone makes the choice to end things because of a greater issue. The choice was made with the passionate, impetuous assurance of youth, also known as being a martyr. The worst part is that they were wrong. The best part is that it forced them to grow as a person and the resulting strength of character is something a person can respect.

When Zig and Karma reunite, a reader can almost feel the passion simmering. Sooner or later love’s undertow drags them together and they have to face the truth – their love never died. I enjoyed that.

The suspense, action and drama stems from Karma’s use of her gift. There’s a toddler at risk and time is running out. I found the choice of illness interesting because I’d never heard of it. I also appreciated the detailed handling of all the steps Karma and Zig took to search and rescue the child. I was figuratively glued to my chair. This story was an incredibly fast read for me because although it was a novella, it was the fact that I couldn’t stop reading that made time go so fast and the book end too soon. What an amazing tale!

Harmonized was a wonderful reading experience. Ms. Behre showed me that there are a lot more fascinating and intriguing facets to life in Tidewater and it’s whetted my appetite for further adventures. Zig and Karma are fun when they’re together and not dealing with drama. I enjoyed getting to know them and I had a great time. It’s a definite recommended read.

Writing murder mysteries is all in a day’s work until an obsessed fan brings Phoebe’s stories to life.

Mystery writer, Phoebe Anderson, owes her success to killing her first husband on paper seventeen years earlier. Now, someone has actually done it. When she decides to take a few days away on the ranch of her best friend’s brother-in-law, she doesn’t expect romance to find her…or murder to follow her.
This in turn led the man to erectile generic viagra cheapest dysfunction. Mason Meadowlark is happy with his wild cowboy ways, avoiding love since the death of his baby and the end of his marriage twenty years ago. When Phoebe shows up, he fights to control his emotions, but soon wonders if she just might be worth the risk of opening his heart again.

With an obsessed fan close on her heels, Phoebe is thrown into her own murder mystery…and the next target on his list is Mason.

Phoebe had her life all plotted out until a night with Mason changed everything.

Phoebe had a completely disastrous marriage years ago. Since then, romantic commitments aren’t high on her list of priorities. Instead, she prefers to keep her relationships short and fun. However, a one night stand with Mason at her best friend’s wedding leaves an impression on her that she just can’t shake. Even though Phoebe and Mason have explosive chemistry, I have to admit I found it a little strange for Phoebe to ask to stay at Mason’s ranch for a while. While he is the brother of her best friend’s husband, they really don’t know much about each other. Furthermore, Phoebe and Mason spend most of their time tangled up in bed. Despite this issue, I really enjoyed their flirtatious banter as I hoped they would find a way to a deeper connection.

While this story is a romantic suspense, most of the drama comes from Phoebe and Mason trying to figure out their feelings for each other and what they wanted for their future. They both have been badly hurt in the past and have let their pain rule their lives ever since. While Phoebe and Mason’s situations are very different, they have chosen to cope in very similar ways. When they finally start to open up to each other and have more meaningful conversation, I could tell they were going to be very good for each other.

I must admit that I found it very easy to figure out who was behind the murders. After that, it was just a matter of waiting for the killer to make a move that would expose his identity to Phoebe. The killer is extremely deluded, disturbed, and very frightening. The sections of the story written from his point of view definitely gave me the shivers.

Southwest of Love and Murder is a very enjoyable book. Although it is book two in a series, it can definitely stand on its own. I recommend it to anyone looking for a romantic suspense with a sexy hero and a sassy heroine.

American artist Jeremy Keane refuses to return home and take over his father’s business. When he meets Lady Yvette Barlow at a London wedding, he realizes she’s perfect for his work—and determines to capture the young heiress’s defiant spirit and breathtaking sensuality on canvas.

No stranger to scandal, Yvette agrees to be Keane’s subject—in exchange for his help gaining entry to the city’s brothels he knows intimately, so she can track a missing woman and solve a family mystery. But when their practical partnership leads to lessons in the art of sinning, can they find a bold and lasting love?

Ms. Jeffries has a wonderful new series on her hands if this first story is any indication of what’s to come. Of course, this was an auto-read for me because I was fascinated with Jeremy Keane from How the Scoundrel Seduces. His character ended up being quite important in that book but in The Art of Sinning he shines as a strong leading man.

Unlike The Dukes Men series which all had villains and mysteries to overcome and solve, Ms. Jeffries’ new Sinful Suitors series seems to be focused on the trials and tribulations of men of title finding suitable matches for their female relations or wards amongst so many dissolute and unacceptable men of the ton. I was greatly amused as to how the whole plan came together and under what circumstances. Then later, to see how it accidentally took off in one scene meant that there will be a lot of interesting books coming my way. I’m very excited.

In this novel, Jeremy continues to have the reputation of a rogue, rakehell and flamboyant painter. Once a reader, through the constant ploys of the heroine, Yvette, finds out about what type of person Jeremy really is they’ll understand why I thought him a perfect leading man and worthy of the title of hero.

Jeremy has angst; an internal struggle from his past that he never fully faced. He puts on a good show and is, for the most part, a functioning human being. The only thing not working is his heart – his ability to love and trust. It takes Yvette’s persistent pursuit of the truth and her wanton, passionate ways to finally reach the wounds hidden inside the hero and her issuance of a poignant and heartfelt challenge before he allows himself to heal. This is truly a character driven romance that is effective because I cared about and was vested in both Jeremy’s and Yvette’s happiness.

The seduction scenes were hot, sensual, well written and well placed throughout the story. I enjoyed Yvette’s enthusiasm and the fact that she could drive Jeremy wild. It was very fun reading.

Many secondary characters are sprinkled throughout the story which is good because I met a lot of interesting people who will make excellent main characters in their own books. I can’t wait.

Even though there isn’t a big external conflict to move things along, Ms. Jeffries knows how to keep the pace of the story moving. Her characters are engaging, witty, funny, quirky and challenging, and the dialogue was key. I enjoyed how Yvette surprised the hero with her choices of vocabulary. I laughed many times throughout the novel.

The Art of Sinning continues to showcase the strength of Ms. Jeffries’ imagination and writing skill. I had an almost impossible time putting the book down because it was that much fun. If not for having to work for a paycheck, I would have been happiest cuddled up on the couch reading this story uninterrupted for the entire day until I reached the final, adorable and entertaining happy ever after. As it was, I read it while I ate breakfast, then supper and then stayed up late to finish it because I simply had to know Jeremy’s big secret, had to know if Yvette would get him to stop blowing in the wind, and had to know who Jeremy’s sister might end up with. It’s not who I thought so I’m all atwitter over it. The Art of Sinning is a must read for new and old fans alike. It’s a winner.

By the way, I don’t usually mention covers but this one was perfect. I blushed every time I looked at it. I think it was the look in his eyes. That was a perfect Jeremy. ::fans self::

Party boy meets quiet nerd. An unusual friendship becomes a spicy romance.

Zach’s Rebound Girl was a classic romance in the first part of the story. It took some time for the mystery and the suspense elements to come to light. Actually, the mystery and the suspense elements were practically non-existent in the first part of the story. When it did come to light, the development was slow at first and then it took off. It kept me on the edge till the end.

Maddison was a nerd in college who had a crush on her best friend that secretly turned into love over time. Zachary always had a special place in his heart for Maddison. After college he has a successful business but he wants his best friend back. Maddison is a renovator in a television show. She wants Zach in her life not as a best friend but as a lover, a partner. Will they be able to get past their insecurities and secrets to commit on a forever after?

Both of the main characters, when they meet after years apart, have a lot of chemistry and passion between them. I could see it even if they couldn’t right away. That also played a big part in keeping them apart until they start to really communicate. One other thing I loved about these characters was, even after years without really seeing or talking to each other they knew and understand each other, as well as believed that both of them has changed somewhat in those years apart.

This is a book for the romance lovers who love a little bit of mystery and suspense added to it.

This novel was a lovely and quick read that I enjoyed very much. Ms Druzy created such likeable characters and a story filled with sweep-you-off-your-feet romance.

Sleeping With Santa is a fantastic read, that I have recommended to many of my friends. The story takes place in a small town was almost everyone knows everyone’s business. The mains characters, Lily and Nick both have a hot-and-cold sort of romance going on when she running into him in town one day. Both Lily and Nick have a very strong emotional connection from then on out.

I absolutely love Christmas and when I heard of Sleeping With Santa I was very excited to read more. The holiday feel to this novel kept very much in the Christmas sprit throughout the story. The back-and-forth between the two main characters, Lily and Nick, had me not wanting to put this book down as I have a soft spot of romance story like that.

I was very pleased to see that both Nick and Lily’s point-of-views were included and I could understand both of main characters actions as the story unfolded. This style of writing has to be one of my favourites.

Overall, Sleeping With Santa was a brilliant holiday romance novel perfect for anytime of year. I would recommend this entertaining and well-written story to those who like light hearted novels with a side of steaming romantic scenes. I very much look forward to seeing what Ms Druzy comes up with in the future.

Second Chance Summer is the first book in the series. The background of this plot is interesting and very well written. The past plays a very important role in this story and this past isn’t revealed completely in the first page or even the first chapter. It is revealed in sections throughout the first part of the book and that is what kept me hooked.

Aiden has always regretted not stopping Lily when she was hell bent on leaving everything familiar when tragedy stuck. But the return of Lily after ten years puts his heart at jeopardy. Will he risk his heart again to get back the love of his life? If he does, it won’t be an easy journey. For any of them.

Lily and Aiden have a lot of hot sizzling chemistry but it is going to take a lot of work for their relationship to heal and rebuild. Jill Shalvis did a wonderful job in not only building a plot but also building all the characters with their own personality so that every aspect and every part of this story kept me interested and wanting to read it.

Throughout the story what was evident was that Lily loves Aiden. But ten years before something happened that made her leave her hometown and break her relationship with Aiden. The first part of the story kept me asking why and how she left and when I did find out everything what kept me reading was “will she leave again?” Will they be a couple again? I got the answers and more.

Besides the main character the secondary characters plays their own important parts and I believe these characters would be the reason for me to read the next book in these series.

Second Chance Summer is not only a contemporary romance but is also a story that goes deep into human emotions and actions. This one is an easy recommend for readers who love their heroes flawed and little on the naughty side and their heroines determined to resist, even when it’s futile. A fantastic read!

In the very first chapter, not only does a reader see that, but they get a good dose of the kind of humor and quirky shenanigans Ms. Spear puts her characters through. Their first ‘rescue’ mission occurs when they come home and I found it hilarious.

Lori is the heroine and she’s a good fit for Paul. She’s strong, confident, and as hot for the hero as he is for her. The fireworks between them sizzle and pop and Ms. Spear always satisfies when she writes those sexy scenes. SEAL Wolf Hunting has plenty to thrill readers.

The secondary characters are important and helpful when they need to be to get Paul and Lori through scenes of drama, action, heartfelt introspection or just being with family and friends. The book has a good feeling about it.

I guess the only part I rolled my eyes at was the conflict regarding the cabin. Lori came across as not as smart as she thinks she is. Her “I handled it” or thinking she could handle it was so not true and eventually it took a situational 2 X 4 to make her understand how wrong she was. I found her attitude annoying and I’m so glad Paul was a man’s man and didn’t kowtow to her. Lori is a strong female lead, there’s no question about that, but she needs someone who won’t let her get away with being stupid, and Paul’s her man.

There’s a lot of good drama in the background with a crime mystery to solve to spice things up. The villains were perfectly villainous and unredeemable so what happens to them is justified.

When I said the book had a good feeling about it, I wasn’t exaggerating. What Lori does exceptionally well is build family. It was a key component to her success as a heroine. Her heart was always in the right place and I got a sense that she had a lot of love to share; Paul wasn’t the only recipient, but he sure was the best one. The happy ever after is touching, sweet and an ending that signifies a beginning. I really liked that.

SEAL Wolf Hunting was fun to read and a nice addition to the series. There’s no question it’s a standalone read so even new fans will find it enjoyable and worth checking out. It’s a definite recommend.
