In 1601, Lady Elizabeth York’s star-shaped birthmark proclaims her a child of magic. When she arrives at Dunham Castle to marry Carlyle, heir to the Duke of Lennox, she finds enchantment in the eyes and touch of Will Grey, the Duke’s bastard son. Bewitched by Elizabeth, Will defies all for their love, and his jilted half-brother places a curse on them both.

Searching for a treasure ship sunk long ago, present-day marine archeologist Cordelia Ward is pursued romantically by both salvager Innis Foley and treasure hunter Morgan Murphy. She is haunted by a murderous nightmare where one man is the killer and the other the victim. But which man is her enemy–which one her soul mate? Can a journal that belonged to her ancestress, Lady Elizabeth York show her the answers…in time to save her true love?

Chased by evil, two women discover their own magic to fight a villain’s curse on the Posey rings that draw them to the men they are destined to love.

Will Elizabeth and Will choose the path of love or honor?

Elizabeth knows what her duty is. She is to marry Carlyle and form an alliance between their families. However, the moment she sees Will, she loses her heart to him. I must admit that I’m not usually a fan of “love at first sight” romances. But Ms. Bodine and Ms. Rosemoor make it extremely easy to believe that Elizabeth and Will are soul mates. I was able to completely lose myself in their story. Every time they were together, it just felt right. Their passion for each other is strong, and my heart ached as they tried hard to fight against their attraction. As their feelings intensify, Elizabeth and Will must choose between their love and their duty to their families. The choice they make will have consequences that ripple across centuries.

I really admire Elizabeth. In a time when woman had very few choices, she is unbelievably strong. She is devastated the moment she realizes that she is to marry Carlyle instead of Will, but she holds herself together, determined to make her father proud. Even though she has an instant and unexplainable dislike for Carlyle, she tries very hard to see the good in him, but as I read, I had to wonder if there was any good to be found in the man. Carlyle desperately wants to marry Elizabeth, but his intentions aren’t exactly honorable. I raced through the pages wondering not only who she would choose, but if Elizabeth’s ending would be a happy one.

Cordelia has never truly been in love. When she discovers Elizabeth’s journal, she finds herself yearning for the kind of connection Elizabeth and Will shared. Like Elizabeth, Cordelia finds herself pursued by two very different men. Innis is a young man she once had tender feelings for. Morgan is a pirate with roguish charm. At first, Cordelia is certain she knows which man is the better of the two, but appearances can be deceiving. It became clear to me pretty quickly which man Cordelia needed to chose, and I grew a little impatient as I waited for Cordelia to figure it out. I confess I became frustrated as Cordelia allowed her judgment to be swayed time after time when the truth was right in front of her. Through the pages of her journal, Elizabeth reaches through time to guide Cordelia, but will it be enough to prevent tragedy?

Written in the Stars is a thoroughly enjoyable book. Elizabeth and Will’s romance is very compelling. Anyone looking for a tale of love, loss, and magic would do well to pick up a copy of Written in the Stars today.

Good to Her is a historical literary novel set against the backdrop of the famous New York City restaurant, Dinty Moore’s, which stood at the corner of 46th Street just off Broadway for some 50 years. Enlivened by the irascible character of the restaurant’s real-life proprietor, James “Dinty” Moore, the novel takes readers back to the days of Prohibition and the police raids foisted on Moore’s establishment, often resulting in his compulsory appearance in court. The novel moves forward through 1964, exploring the changing political and social life of the times, and focusing on the marriage of Nate Neumann, a successful New York City businessman, and Sallie, his much younger wife. Having fled the confines of small-town Indiana, Sallie comes to New York with dreams of becoming an actress. She meets Nate in Dinty Moore’s. Sallie is 20 and fresh off the farm. Nate is 46 and instantly smitten. The story is brightened by appearances or references to celebrities who frequent the place such as Walter Winchell, Lauren Bacall, and Humphrey Bogart. Sallie is prone to telling Nate how Good to Her he is. Nate wonders, Is he really?

He was good to her, or was he? That was the question on his mind for almost two decades.

Meeting her at the close of World War II, he focuses on how to be a good husband. The reader follows his internal goings on from the roaring twenties and the bootlegging days of his friends through the forties, fifties, and sixties, when unspeakable tragedy strikes. The setting, a New York City restaurant, is fascinating with all the little details that go into painting a vivid picture. The reader is treated to an inside look of celebrities of that era. It’s like stepping into that place, that timeless restaurant with its quirky owner.

Nate’s friends inhabit the story with their colorful personalities. Some are great, and some…well, they don’t approve of the love of Nate’s life, Sallie, a farm girl who came to New York to find her fame in dancing and acting.

Nate is so charming and kind. Sallie is vivacious. At first, she comes across as self-centered and shallow, but she grows and shows an interesting side to her personality. One finds out early in the book that she’s destined to die, but near the end, her last day is played out in detail.

The book jumps around in time a lot and gives many mundane details, but those details enable a reader to experience the scene up close. Emotions are easily felt due to the hand of the talented author. For anyone who enjoys vintage stories with realism weaved throughout, give this book a try.

Where’s a Fairy Godmother when you need one?

If you won a fairy-tale wedding in a luxury hotel, you’d be delighted – right? But what if you didn’t have anyone to marry? Cat Aston did have a fiancé, but now it looks like her Prince Charming has done a runner.

Adam Lawley was left devastated when his girlfriend turned down his heartfelt proposal. He’s made a vow never to fall in love again.

So – when Cat and Adam meet, they shouldn’t even consider falling in love. After all, they’re both broken hearted. But for some reason they can’t stop thinking about each other. Is this their second chance for happiness, or are some things just too good to be true?

Oh, what a joy it was reading this story! When I started to read it I thought that it would be yet another predictable book about fake boyfriends. I was wrong, very wrong to be exact. The Wedding Diary is anything but predictable.
These tablets are easily accessible via ePharmacies, so you don’t think my school is unusual, I read articles and stories from nurses all over the country that say the same thing which we have discussed earlier in the first paragraph. lowest price tadalafil Glucose can be equated important site viagra generic canada to fuel for our body. The Wedding Diary follows the path that leads to the HEA of Cat Aston and Adam Lawley. They’re two people who were both in relationships that ended up badly and all that they were left with were broken hearts. But somewhere along the way they meet and they became close. The way to their happy ending, i.e. a wedding, is very rocky, but with a little help of an eccentric wedding planner, everything and anything is possible.

The Wedding Diary was so full of twists and turns, ups and downs and funny situations. Both main characters were so lovable. They might have seemed like weak people who avoid confrontations, but in crucial moments they showed that they had backbone proving that no one could mess with them.

There was another character that I hated (but in the end I fell in love with) and that is eccentric wedding planner, Fanny Gregory. Fanny is a good spirit of the story. Most of the time I found her so annoying, but since nothing is what it seemed in The Wedding Diary, Fanny also turned out to be something completely different.

The writing is also great. The story was written from third person POV, but it follows simultaneously Cat’s and Adam’s story, so that reader knows what is going on with both of them. The story flows smoothly, all ends are tied up and the hero and heroine’s HEA is believable. Furthermore the descriptions are so well written that I felt like I was in London, England countryside and Toscana while reading this story.

I love this story, because it made me feel good all around. So if you like well written, funny, happy and feel good romances, go grab this one.

In the five years since Julia last visited her aunt and uncle’s home in Malibu, her life has been turned upside down by her daughter’s death. She expects to find nothing more than peace and solitude as she house-sits with only her dog, Bonnie, for company. But she finds herself drawn to the handsome man who oversees the lemon orchard. Roberto expertly tends the trees, using the money to support his extended Mexican family. What connection could these two people share? The answer comes as Roberto reveals the heartbreaking story of his own loss—a pain Julia knows all too well, but for one striking difference: Roberto’s daughter was lost but never found. And despite the odds he cannot bear to give up hope.

Set in the sea and citrus-scented air of the breathtaking Santa Monica Mountains, The Lemon Orchard is an affirming story about the redemptive power of compassion and the kind of love that seems to find us when we need it most.

The romance bloomed due to Roberto and Julia both losing their daughters five years before–Julia’s daughter, Jenny, to death–a possible suicide–and Roberto’s daughter, Rosa, being literally lost in the desert as they tried to reach the US. This creates a bond that surpasses the differences in their backgrounds. Julia is the niece of Roberto’s boss and she’s housesitting while her aunt and uncle are in Ireland.

The strongest part of the story is the mystery about what happened to Rosa. The detail Ms. Rice goes into and the research she has done on illegal border crossing is evident.

The character development is beautifully done– not only the main characters but the secondary characters as well–even the ones that are not present such as Julia’s aunt and uncle. I would love to read their story. I would also like to see more of Jack Leary, the retired border control officer who plays such a large role in solving the mystery of Rosa’s disappearance.

Told in first person from Julia’s perspective and in third person from other characters’ perspectives, The Lemon Orchard is an easy book to read and get involved in.

A Promise Can Be a Terrible Thing

All heiress Sophia Hart’s father wanted was for her to marry a gentleman with a title. She promised him on his deathbed she would do just that. But the only man Sophia wants to spend time with is Matson Brentwood, who makes up for the lack of a title by being dashing and decidedly dangerous. Since Matson crashed his way into her life and her heart, that vow to her father has become an awful burden.

Ms. Sophie Hart is a wonderfully vibrant character that leaps off the page. Her determination was at time frustrating, but her loyal and love for her family was deeply admiring. I adored the way she handled her twin aunts, Mae and June, whom were lovely secondary characters. They brought a lot to the story including humor and aggrivation.

Mr. Matson Brentwood is the epitome of tall, dark and handsome. I instantly was drawn to him and was empathic to his family drama. When he and his twin, Iverson, return to England after making their fortune, they are faced with scandal. After a chance meeting with the beautiful Sophie, Matson is smitten. Knowing she must marry for a title, and he not wanting to marry at all, we see their struggle to fight their attraction that sizzles the page. A few stolen moments shows them that sometimes there are more important things than pride and honor and that love and conquer all.

This is the sixth and final installment in the Rogue’s Dynasty series by Amelia Grey. I really loved this historical. The couple were well suited, and were surrounded by a cast of characters that helped paint this tale of love and family. I wish we could have seen more of Iverson, but we were able to see the end of his story as well. I had not read the previous books in this series, but I didn’t feel as though I was missing anything as I read. As long as she feels he is not hurting the Ferro legacy or the Ferro reputation, he can do as he pleases. Unfortunately, Jon has a knack for getting in trouble or trouble just finds him.

Enter Cassie Hale into his life – nothing will ever be the same. Cassie is young, innocent and still a virgin when they first meet. She is a strong female character. She has set her goals in life and you cannot but hope she will achieve them. I love how she respects herself and sets boundaries that Jon must respect.

The story later picks up these characters three years after they first meet. Circumstances are very different now for both Cassie and Jon. Cassie is hiding and working as a stripper to elude her deadbeat husband. She has been forced to this type of work and is doing the best she can with it.

Once Jon is back in Cassie’s life, nothing will be the same. I love how the author presents Jon’s character with a conscience but a streak of recklessness.

As with other H. M. Ward’s novels, this is a page-turner. This is book #1 of the Stripped series. I am anxiously awaiting book #2.

When pretend turns to desire, heartbreak is unavoidable.

Sander Chase needs a date for his ex-fiancée’s engagement party, but he doesn’t have time for a woman in his life. Between working on the TV show Do You Have What It Takes? and his band reforming, he’s too busy for a relationship. What he needs is a pretend girlfriend. He thinks he may have found the perfect woman for the job, and the bribe he offers means she’s sure to accept.

After losing her job in the film industry, breaking up with her movie star boyfriend, and finding out her mum has dementia, Chloe Butler returned to the UK determined to put her life back together. The last thing she needs is to parade around London on the arm of a celebrity, and after the heartbreak caused by her ex, she swore she’d never again date a star. But when Sander offers her a chance at her dream job, it’s not something she can turn down.

As Chloe gets to know Sander she learns he’s nothing like her scumbag ex. But she struggles to fight her attraction to him, knowing their relationship is only for show and their separation date is closing in fast.

Never Say Never is modern fairy tale. On one side there is a hero, Sander Chase, a very popular singer who does not know what love is. The other side has Chloe Butler, a make-up artist turned waitress, whose heart has been broken in a really nasty way. They are both unprepared for a relationship, and the chances that they end up together in real life are slim, but as I said this is a contemporary fairy tale.

Never Say Never is a very sensual and emotionally packed story. The attraction between the hero and heroine is palpable. The relationship’s progress is slowly buildt up, until it reaches its HEA, which I liked a lot. What is more important it that this novel is so well written. Characters are three dimensional and lovable. I felt Sander and Chloe’s pain and happiness, and that meant a lot for me, making this story a satisfying emotional read.

Just be aware that I found some of Sander’s actions and reactions confusing to me here and there throughout the story but don’t give up, a plausible reason was provided at the end and then all became clear.

Unfortunately, I have two issues witht this story that made me rate it with 4 stars. First is predictability – I knew that at some point, one character will turn up in the story and that this character will be crucial for Sander and Chloe’s conflict resolution. The problem with predictability is that this particular situation was used and recycled in so many stories that it has became a cliché, and the story did not gain much from it. The second is the overuse of the f-word in the story. I am not a prude, but when the swearing is used in a way that does not fit the story, it really starts to bother me. In many cases Aimée Duffy could have used some other words and phrases instead, with the same end result i.e. the emotional state of the character or his/her reaction to some situation will evoked to the reader.

I liked Never Say Never foremost because the author succeeded in writing a great emotional story about two broken people who find their way to happiness. Therefore I recommend it to all of you who like HEA endings and emotional reads.
