Queen of Shadows is a very simple storyline that is a very complex story. When I started to read it, I thought it was just about a queen picking out her husband who would be king. Little did I realize all the twists and turns that would happen in the course of this story. Be forewarned that unless you are careful, you can believe that Audryn was only thirteen when she became sexually active in public but she was thirteen starturns which is twenty in our years. Also, this book contains an extreme amount of very hot sexual activity. All is in keeping with the storyline and I enjoyed it immensely.

Audryn is the Queen of Shadow, ruler of Shadowlands. She is nearing her seventeenth starturn, which is equivalent to our twenty-six years old and must chose a husband to have children with. Audryn was not born to rule but was thrust into the position when the rest of her family died just after her thirteenth starturn. With the planet divided into three basic areas, Shadowlands being the prime area, she had the choice of the nobility in each land from which to pick a king. I enjoyed how Audryn found ways to have numerous sexual encounters with multiple partners without breaking the rules regarding procreation in regards to her position as queen. Though not born to be queen, I found Audryn to be very sharp in the ways of not only government but also of men and not easily swayed. Each wants to be king and it was fun watching how they tried to manipulate Audryn and each other in order to achieve their ends. Without revealing who is a favorite, I can say that one is a supposed known person, one is a physically beautiful looking male who seems familiar, and one is a ruggedly handsome man who seems rough around the edges. Watching how they tried to get Audryn to pick them buy giving her gifts, each one trying to top the other, and sexual favors was so funny.

While touring the respective countries, many secrets are revealed. Audryn, with the help of her servant Maia, ferrets out all the plots and soon realizes who she will choose.

This was a story that I enjoyed a great deal as the author brought these characters to life with their emotional and passionate love story. The story just seemed to flow and I was sad to see it end.

This one was a keeper for me and I would definitely recommend it. I look forward to reading more by this talented author!

Dominic was never meant to be anything but a weapon for his people. He has lived his entire life knowing what his duty was, and never shirking that duty. Not a man known for his gentleness, he is still drawn to the quiet, bookish Emma. While I didn’t really adore his motivations, as they are less than noble if you look at it from an outside point of view, I did however understand them. As Ms. Amber excels at giving deeper motivations to her characters, the hero in Dominic isn’t really all that apparent when we first meet him. When the honorable, and lovable man emerged I was more than ready to see him find his happy ending with Emma… which he did.

Emma was a sweetheart that I met in the previous books. Younger sister to Jane, I already knew her as a quiet, very smart young woman with an affinity for animals and the everlasting devotion of the people in her life. While her circumstances aren’t quite what I expected, it was great to see such a well-loved character again. I felt as though I was meeting up with an old friend and I was excited to see how her happy ending would come about. I was pleased to see that Ms. Amber was still able to bring the same quality of storytelling to a shorter story that she does to a much longer one. A definitely welcome bonus to get when I thought the tale was done.

Since I wasn’t expecting to get another glimpse of the people in the Satyr world, it was a great treat to find out that there was this book… as well as future books in the works. Elizabeth Amber’s writing just gets better and better, and I look forward to seeing how her writing and her world evolves with time. Her excellent skill at blending the historical side with the fantasy side of her books takes true talent, and I gladly look forward to more from her. Don’t let us forget that this is an Erotic Romance of the highest quality. While there aren’t the more controversial topics of the previous books, at least in my opinion, make no mistake that the incredible sensuality she brings to table is definitely here in this story as well. The heat she brings to her books with each sensual scene is again evident in Dominic, and made me more than hot under the collar on more than one occasion.

In my opinion, this book was flawless. I never once questioned the reasons behind the plot, and couldn’t even bring myself to wonder as the story pulled me along for the ride from start to finish. Also, the short story at the end of the book just tickled me PINK! A true artist with vivid imagery, Elizabeth Amber is quickly becoming one of my favorite Erotic Romance authors. I wholeheartedly recommend this book, and eagerly look forward to more offerings in any genre from Ms. Amber.

They each have distinct personalities that seem to mesh very well as they come together, but all three struggle with the idea of sharing and it soon affects their relationships. Jealousy, doubts, and insecurities plague all three despite their obvious love for one another. This added a realness to their unusual relationship as it demonstrated that not everything and everyone is perfect.

I really enjoyed watching the relationships develop and grow throughout the book. The author created three wonderful men that I couldn’t help but feel for as they have to learn to adjust their thinking and plans and get used to each other. The characters truly drive this story as they take you on an emotional roller coaster…it was a ride that I enjoyed every minute of!

All in all an enjoyable read, one of the better offerings among ebooks I’ve read recently.

One note, I hesitated before labelling this a menage, as I think to a degree the term has come to raise expectations of a threesome setup. Though technically the situation in The Contract is a menage, it’s a menage in its truest defenition: three people living together in a domestic arrangement, where one of them has sexual relations with the other two. It was interesting to think that the true treasure of the ship was actually Logan as he has knowledge of our modern world that this future world longs for such as knowledge of books and history. I must say that the ending of the story came as a great surprise and is one that I never could have predicted. If you enjoy the Spaceport series, pick this one up to add to your collection!

I loved this book! I know that seems rather simple, but it’s the truth. I just loved this book. Containing four novellas by four amazing authors, Unlaced is a definite keeper and will be a book I go back to on a regular basis to reread.

Of the four authors in this new anthology, I was only familiar with two: Joey W. Hill and Denise Rossetti, who are among my absolute favorite, auto-buy authors. I will admit up front that I read the stories in this book out of order… I just couldn’t wait to read the newest offerings of these two authors. What made this book even better was that I now have two more authors added to my auto-buy list.

While each story would stand alone quite well, together they make one delicious read. Each one has common threads that link it to the others: corsets which have such an erotic connotation, and believing in a second chance; at love, at life, at all the possibilities. I was rooting for the HEA in all of them, and wasn’t disappointed.

In The Ties That Bind by Jaci Burton, Burton crafts a sweet yet spicy tale that is a nice counterpoint to the serious, in-depth emotions of Hill and Rossetti. Undone by Jasmine Haynes was a nice surprise that had me riveted from start to finish. Another new-to-me author, Haynes has now been added to my auto-buy list. I find that I want to go check if she has a backlist anywhere that I can acquire it. I loved this tale of a May-December romance with an absolutely delectable hero that had ME melting right along with the heroine.

I was really excited to get a chance to read Controlled Response by Joey W. Hill. Many of you know (as I endlessly expound on how much I love her books) that well… I love her books! The deeper meaning behind the heroine’s use of a corset was so very fascinating, and I had great fun getting to know the hero… not to mention his friends. I loved going along for ride as two very strong-willed people found that they couldn’t live without each other. The serendipity involved in this tale was fun to see, and I look forward to more from “The Board Resolution” boys. Yes, I know, rather cryptic, but read the book… I’m sure you’ll feel the same way too.

And last, but definitely not least as there really isn’t a least in this anthology, is Rubies And Black Velvet by Denise Rossetti. I can say so much about this tale and this author but it all boils down to: WOW! I am constantly amazed at the depth of Ms. Rossetti’s writing, not to mention the fact that her world-building is absolutely remarkable. This story sucked me in and pulled me right along for the sensual, emotional ride of my life. The darkest tale in the book, this one may not be for everyone, but I had no complaints and in fact liked it immensely. This was very deep and evocative and an incredible companion to the previous stories, as well as a fitting conclusion to the anthology.

From start to finish we are taken through so many different “kinds” of love, but all of them are valid and intense and end in my favorite Happy Ever After. All in all, this was a fabulous read that I wholeheartedly encourage anyone to read… and reread, I certainly will.
