She clearly lived a life of privilege, and had no real idea of what commoners were experiencing during this period, yet she never seemed to forget how lucky she was to be viewed as one of the Queen’s favored. Though she may not always agree with the Queen, it is clear her love for her never truly waivers.

Sir John, on the other hand, had lived the life of a commoner. While he was not poor he knew what life struggles are about, especially when left a widower with five children. Yet, he still sees what even the Queen can recognize: Mary is someone special who should be cherished. When she starts to show him favor it is clear he does not take that attention lightly and will do whatever it takes to win her heart and keep her safe above all others.

The love story is entertaining in this, but it more of a coming of age story than a romance. Mary and her relationships, including the ones with the Queen, Sir John and other suitors is a key in the plot. While this only follows a few short years in Mary’s life, it is clear these are the most influential years in her life. It also gave me a glimpse of the time in which Mary lived.

This story has some historically accurate portrayals including people and events. Religion during this period is a driving force behind many in the story, and plays a key role in everyone including Mary’s life. I really enjoyed that the author really tried to keep the story as accurate as possible while still entertaining. I could tell from the very beginning that some of the events took place, even if the timeframes may have changed a bit to make it more entertaining. I has truly impressed by the amount of knowledge the author was able to incorporate, and it left me wanting more. While I have not read the author’s previous story about this time period I most certainly plan on picking it up. This is a story I believe anyone would enjoy no matter if they enjoy history or just want an entertaining story.

How I’ve waited for this story! It starts with a prequel that takes us back to events in the first book, and we experience it from Gen’s point of view with a bit of Gareth’s. I really enjoyed seeing that. It re-hooked me into the beautiful plot that Ms. Bell has crafted with intricate detail. That detail is so obvious because I was able to see how little things from before lead to so much more, and how intertwined this series is. She gives enough back story that I think it could be read as a stand-alone but I truly believe that the main story arc is best enjoyed while reading the whole series.

Gareth is lonely and ready for a mate, he knows that mate is Gen, but Gen has disappeared while she hunts down her evil brothers. I loved that Gareth knows he loves Gen, and is willing to do just about anything to make her his queen. I also really adored Gareth as the wizard’s king because he is willing and ready to change the way the program works when they won’t accept his mate. It shows just how deep his love for Gen is.

Gen has a job as a Hecate’s Own, her whole job is to serve the Goddess Hecate, and she isn’t sure if that and being Gareth’s queen consort are two jobs that really mesh together. Gen is a strong, capable and independent heroine who kicks butt and takes names in her own right. The fact that she is willing and able to drop everything for the man she loves, just makes her a real character to me.

The plot and the action are well paced and the story builds beautifully and hints at the next book in series, when I’m sure the main story arc will finally be wrapped up. The plot does advance in this story, and there are hints that the magic world will be changing in the future, and I look forward to it.

I cannot recommend this book or series more. I find myself enjoying the rituals and different ways that the different sects of magic users perform magic. It’s intricate and beautiful which shows that a lot of time and thought has gone into building this world. I will be waiting anxiously for the next book.

Each plan that goes astray actually provides clues to a mystery and garners the heroine all the helpers she needs to solve the case. The secondary characters that populate the novel are as unique and fascinating as the heroine. The butler is a pirate, but not. Gillian’s cousin is demure, but not. Noble’s friends are interesting on two different levels – but only after reading the book will that make any sense.

Let me see if I can give any hints. The dogs made me giggle, Gillian’s innocence about broken men made me snort and snicker and out right laugh, the blue hand reminded me of Ms. Ball’s antics on T.V., the ladybugs totally cracked me up, Noble’s adventures with vases and broken noses, although should be serious and cause for concern, actually made me guffaw, chortle and again, laugh out loud, and enterprising literature bought off of a street vender provided many moments of giggles for me and crossed eyes for Noble.

As for dialogue, Ms. MacAlister was truly inspired. Sometimes it was like watching tennis or ping pong. Some scenes had it fast paced with a couple of characters going at it about two different conversations at the same time and somehow, it worked. Then there was Gillian learning some naughty cant from the streets and her applying it in unexpected ways. Cue another grin. Oh my gosh, the testicles! I almost fell to the floor when that conversation occurred. Where does the author come UP with that? It was pure genius.

Another endearing and charming habit of Gillian’s was how she referred to Noble in her internal dialogue. Lord of this or that – the titles themselves were moments of intense levity. Cue more grinning.

This novel wouldn’t have worked so well if there wasn’t the dark side to overcome, the hero and heroine to save and a child healed. No matter how many moments of fun this book has, there was a mystery to solve and it was a rather gruesome one. Little hints were sprinkled throughout and it was the dialogue that clued me in. When the villain was finally revealed, I wasn’t too surprised. What did shock me was the level of nutso this person achieved. I was totally grossed out as to what Nick, Noble’s young son, had to endure but at the same time, there was no better woman on the planet to love him enough to heal than Gillian. She truly was a beam of sunshine that brightened all their lives.

When I labeled this book as historical, I did not add paranormal. It’s not really a part of the book but towards the mid part, Gillian met someone. He gave her cryptic advice and he was sort of nice to her. He ultimately had a reason for being so but I didn’t find out why until the end. It’s only in reference to him that I would mention a paranormal element. It surprised me but after thinking about it, it made sense. This author loves to have fun with her characters. Why not throw in a clever twist?

Noble Intentions is many things: a cure for a bad day, a fun read, a terrific romance. It’s a novel with heart that doesn’t take itself so seriously. Yes, the ton has its rules and strictures, and certain behaviors are frowned upon. But this story refused to be dictated by them. It was about two people, unique and quirky, who find love in their own way and gradually the ton accepted them. Why? Because no one, not even stodgy, snooty peerage can resist the thrill and romance of a passionate true love. This book gets a hearty recommend from me and an assurance that this book is going on my keeper shelf. I simply love it when a madcap plan comes together. Don’t you?

Sometimes, after several books an author’s writing quality starts to decrease. That’s not the case with In the Den, by Sierra Cartwright. In this novel, book 6 of the Mastered series, Ms. Cartwright delivers a fascinating story that sucked me right in from page one.

Also, as I’ve mentioned in other reviews, she has a knack of teaching about the BDSM lifestyle through her books without detracting from the erotic, without making it seem like an actual lesson. Everything seems natural and the story rolls effortlessly.

Though In the Den is erotic beyond any words I could write here, what really makes it a great read is the love story between the characters. It was emotional, heady, full of unexpected little paths that left me wondering if they’d make in the end. After all, Damien was not falling for any girl. The woman to whom he had decided to dedicate all his affections was none other than the respected Domme Catrina Davidson.

Initially I was a bit hesitant about Catrina becoming a submissive. After all, she was a Domme, had been since forever and that made her awesome to my eyes. Nevertheless, this was also precisely why I was intrigued: How the hell was Damien going to bend her to his will? It would have definitely been very interesting to read if it had been done the other way, Catrina dominating Damien, but Ms. Cartwright still caught me up in the intricate romance that bloomed between these two.

And romance it was.

Damien is not only old-world manners, good looking, intelligent and wealthy. He’s seduction on two feet and he snuggles! He knows what he wants and he goes after it without hesitating, but when it comes to love, it was interesting to see a different side of Damien. I knew he was in love long before he figured it out.

Catrina is Damien’s equal in everything. More than once I found myself wondering what it would be like to be under her scrutinizing wide-eyed gaze. The path that Damien leads her into, was not easy to watch. More than once I found myself holding back tears with her, struggling with every step of wanting to submit but not quite getting there yet.

There is little more I can say about the sex: it is amazing, scorching, sizzling. The chemistry between the characters is off the charts (I’m still reliving that first kiss in my mind or the coffee table scene).

All in all, In The Den is a great novel, which I’ve already read twice and I know I will read again and again.

I was left with my mouth hanging open at the climax of the story. The developing relationship between Cassie and Severus, the inclusion of previous characters from book one, and the introduction of new challenges to this sexy race of he-man aliens all culminate into a fantastic tale that left me wanting more. Lo and behold, after a little snooping on the internet, I see Ms. Prater has seen fit to grace us with an upcoming book 3! So now I’m left chomping at the bit and rubbing my little paws together in eager anticipation of what I expect to be another fabulous read.

Fueled by lust: Severus, is a non-stop hoot and a hell of an exciting story. Cassie’s snarky attitude had me laughing my buns off. I fell in love with her right from the start. And Severus is just too sexy for words. He certainly caused a spike in heart rate and gave me something new to dream about. Put them together and you’ve got another fantastic story by Celeste Prater whose hunky aliens are simply out of this world. This story is full of angst, at times I wanted to yell at the characters to just talk to each other, stop assuming. Ms. Cullinan has a way of drawing me in. I keep telling myself that her books will be a quick light read, but every time she provides a much deeper, grittier and fully immersive story that I can’t put down, the kind that makes me snap at being interrupted, and Special Delivery was definitely one of those.

It’s a story about Mitch and Sam, but Mitch and Sam aren’t the only ones engaged in physical activity, there’s other men who come in to play, and that’s Sam and Mitch’s kink. More Mitch’s at the beginning but before we ever meet Mitch, it’s very clear that Sam has the same urges and leanings.

It’s an interesting blend of kink without really being a BDSM book, it’s more about what Mitch and Sam enjoy and them learning to deal with and love each other, I found it really erotic and very beautiful at its core. It’s got a lot of kink, so be prepared to explore new horizon right along with Mitch and Sam and their play partners, but never fret at the core it’s still a love story between Mitch and Sam and everything is done in a consensual way.

I highly recommend this book, and look forward to reading more in this series, since I really came to love one of their partners in this book and I’m dying to see where he ends up.

This is a beautiful, delightful, flawless story of two people who would probably never meet, because they do not move in the same social circles and their interests are polar opposites. But some misfortune on the one hand and lucky coincidence on the other brought them together. It was their destiny to meet, and to fall in love. Sophie Taylor is a high school history teacher who is used to living a quiet life, that is until she became the personal assistant of a famous country singer Beaumont (Beau) Walker. But Sophie is not a doormat; on the contrary she is clever, full of wit and she knows how to deal with Beau’s moods and how to put him in place.

Beau lives a big life, on the stage and in his private life; he can be moody and he does not know what love is until he meets Sophie. Love makes both of them different, love changes them. I love the way their relationship progressed and developed and the ending is so dramatic, romantic and heartbreaking at the same time. Besides great relationship development, this story has great secondary characters who are alive, three dimensional and funny.

I enjoyed A Song for Sophie tremendously. It is so well written. It doesn’t leave loose ends and it culminates in a big satisfying, feel good HEA ending. A must read.

This fairy tale story captivated me from beginning to end. It was very reminiscent of Cinderella, and even included balls, an evil mother, and a sister placed ahead of her in her family’s eyes. And Like Cinderella, Sue somehow discovers an inner strength and claims what is rightfully hers, which includes the Holden the man who has been searching for Suzanna longer than either of them realize.

I was immediately smitten with this story, and did not want it to end. Sue is the oldest sister, yet she has seem to lived in her sisters’ shadow being the plain daughter–as her mother so often reminds her. With the prospects of landing an eligible bachelor almost nonexistent, she decides to throw caution to the wind and enjoy herself for one evening. Yet, that one evening alters her life forever, by introducing her to the world she has skirted on the outside of for so long. I could not help but root for Sue from beginning to end, and hope to get more glimpse of her wild side she affectionately names Suzanna.

Holden has his own secrets he must keep tucked away, or he risks not only his reputation, but a scandal that will devastate his entire family’s existence in higher society. When he meets Suzanna, she shakes up his world more than anyone has done. Now he finds himself on a wild goose chase for the missing seductress, while finding himself falling in love with the sensible and witty Sue. Holden seems to be a scamp on the outside, but I quickly realized this was a facade used to keep others at a distance. In fact, below the surface of his charm, he is a caring and compassionate man wrapped in a pretty package with a bow. This made me want to learn more about him, as well as discover all of his hidden secrets he hides so well.

The entire courtship of these two is truly fascinating and one I will not soon forget. I love how they come to care for one another so naturally throughout the story, it really added a ring of truth to the relationship. I could not help but smile sometimes at the budding relationship because it was based on genuine fondness of one another and seemed so natural. I have sometimes felt historical romances a bit outdated, but Desperately Seeking Suzanna was anything but outdated, and I can truly say I would anticipate reading this story again an falling in love with it all over.

I truly could not put this book down. It fascinated me. I needed to know not only what the outcome would be, but how this would be achieved.

Bianca’s father leaves the stepmother Victoria in control while he jaunts off to Earth for three years. Bianca is a extremely well qualified engineer and has a lot of shares of her own in the Star Line Elevator company, but Victoria has poured verbal poison into her husband’s ears, telling him Bianca needs to learn a lot more about the business. Bianca is sent down to Mars to oversee the acquisition of RedIce mines, but in reality Victoria wants her stepdaughter out of the way while she works her evil way with the Mars government.

Cesare Chan son of the owner of RedIce Mines is gorgeous but the air sparkles with tension between him and Bianca. I found their interaction very amusing as both points of view were given and their beliefs at times led to amusing conflicts between them. Bianca learns all is not sweetness and light with her father’s company and Victoria turns out to be much more of a threat than anticipated. Cesare tries to believe the space princess will help him keep his company, but history between RedIce and Starline make it difficult for him to believe this.

The author has done a wonderful job of explaining the workings of a mine on Mars. You don’t need to be a space fanatic or an engineer to see what the characters are doing. Minor characters are woven into the story so I could see them without any deep descriptions being given. This is a gift not many authors have. The story bowled me along keeping up with my eagerness to find out more about the characters and plot. Definitely a keeper in my books.
