This triple threat of firefighting men is a great collection of stories to get your pulse racing and the heart pounding. I liked each author’s take on firefighting, the women in their lives, and that ever present possibility of injury on the job. Although a handful of minor editing issues cropped up, they weren’t enough to deter the reader. Each story is realistic and easy for the reader to find some sort of personal connection.
In Too Hot to Handle by Sue Lyons, Jade Rousseau needs a fiancée in order to score a promotion. Enter the hunky firefighter her friends bid on for her. I liked this story because the plot was believable. I also liked seeing two characters so determined to be together, yet very determined to butt heads. Although I wished Jade would’ve seen the need for a fake fiancée as discrimination, I also understood that sometimes you have to do whatever you can to get that promotion. The reasons behind Quinn’s determination to save lives touched my heart.

This story dealt mainly with trust and a lack thereof. He doesn’t trust his skills as a firefighter since the accident. It’s also a story of want. She wants to pursue her art, but it isn’t financially feasible. He wants to be on the front lines doing his job, but fears he’ll get hurt. All of these are human emotions we all struggle with. I liked how they worked out their trust and needs issues through the blossoming relationship.
