Shiloh Montgomery-Moore is the queen of hiding in the shadows. This penchant is an avoidance dance meant to stave off her father’s fists and her mother’s barbs. Hot tempered, distrusting, Shiloh is determined to forge her own path in the world. Little does she know, that the path leads her to the strange anomaly know as The Veil. Whisked back in time, she finds out danger lurks everywhere and nothing can save her from a bleak future except a man of war, a master and commander.

Captain of the H.M.S. Predator, Jacob Christopher Wolfson, has his official orders–capture the French war vessel, The Bordeaux. It isn’t in his strategy to be chained to a ‘supposed’ time traveler. Immediately attracted to the mystery woman found aboard his ship, Jacob has but one chance to save his sanity and his mission; he’ll take Shiloh Montgomery-Moore to his bed or wherever the opportunity presents itself.

Is there a better way to escape nagging parents and irresponsible siblings than by being transported two hundred years into the past? Nah, I didn’t think so either. Stressed and frustrated one evening, just such a thing happens to Shiloh Montgomery-Moore. When she awakens on a warship at sea, things proceed from bad to worse much too quickly.

I can’t think of anything more difficult to adjust to than being sent from a society where females are mostly equal to their male counterparts back in time to a society where they must adhere to such strict rules of propriety. And it isn’t any easier for Shiloh to deal with either. Having been on her own, supporting herself and answering to no one, she’s suddenly thrust into a situation where she is at the total and complete mercy of a man she doesn’t even know. Unfortunately for her and her impulsive self, she has no choice but to obey him – her live essentially depends on it. However, being the strong and intelligent woman she is, she quickly discovers that it’s not demeaning to defer to someone with more knowledge and experience, and does just that, allowing Captain Jacob Wolfson to control her every move. Almost. Throughout the story, Shiloh learns that there’s a delicate balance between giving up control and being controlled.

Captain Jacob Wolfson is in love with life on the ocean. After discovering a hard truth about his wife, he devotes his life to his ship, his men, and the sea. Having been in charge for so long, he has no idea what to do with an incorrigible and independent woman like Shiloh. Jacob however, is quite intrigued and fascinated by a woman like her. As Shiloh learns to bend to Jacob’s will, Jacob in turn learns to let go of his control just a bit to keep her happy. Together, the couple is a study in compromise. They are a dynamic couple that could either explode into an argument at a moment’s notice or disappear for a quickie without warning.

Master and Commander’s Prey is an intriguing story of true love, time travel, and give and take. With two equally feisty and stubborn characters, you’ll be treated to lots of laughs, arguments, and many, many sighs of pleasure. A definite must read for lovers of time travel!
