Xondra Day has penned an exciting new twist on the paranormal story with The Blood Between. I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this story and I’m glad I did. The characters are interesting and I wanted to see what would happen to them. There are lots of twists and turns that kept my attention. I had to know how the pieces of the story fit together.

Kyle is a very shy person. He’s not one who stands out in a crowd and he’s not one to expect attention. I liked that about him. He’s realistic. As for Luca, he’s a vampire. As with any story, there are moments of down time. In this book, there were more than a couple times when I came across very similar or the exact same phrase used. The repetitiveness yanked me from the story, but the need to know about Kyle and Luca pulled me back. Another thing I had issue with is the “telling” quality in the story. There are some really emotional moments, but I felt like I was being led through the situation as a bystander, not immersed in it. The ending is interesting, but I felt it to be a bit abrupt and I wanted to know what would happen after. But it gives the author a possibility to create a sequel. There’s lots of potential in the tale and I think with a little more detail and a little more time, it could have been a real knock-out.

The love story is the saving grace to this intensely powerful tale. Ms. Daniels writes a steaming hot romance that is multi-dimensional and satisfying. I recommend this story for those who don’t mind graphic and vivid details of sexual abuse and violence, in keeping with the realistic quality of the storytelling.

While this is a short story, and the ending gives you your “romance story ending” tied up in a nice neat bow, it does not seem rushed. It’s a nice little romance, and worth your time.

Finding Caleb’s lover wounded in the bayou leads to erotic scenes and some three-way action that precipitates Tate’s healing. A departure from the previous stories, but nicely written and entertaining.

Totally unbelieveable and a completely fantastic vehicle for hot sex and a three-way relationship. Vanessa is in a car accident and is found and saved by friends Brenn and Dihn. After finding they couldn’t get her back to civilization for a few days, Brenn and Dihn offer her a chance to recouperate and the sparks start to fly. After learning they are both werewolves, Vanessa allows herself to follow through on the heat between herself and both guys, which eventually leads to some three way action. But will there be a happy ending?

When witch Gretchen runs out of ingredients for her anti-love spell, and she can’t run to the local potion shop to pick them up, she sets out to collect them on her own. Unfortunately, the wolf and bat she collected from decided to take revenge. Fortunately, the wolf was actually a werewolf and the bat a vampire. And they decided to take revenge of a sexual nature. While not normally my cup of tea, this sets the stage for some hot 3-way “revenge” and sets the scene for the story resolution in a satisfactory manner.

There is a little something for everyone in this anthology. It starts out with the most rough and violent and ends with a light-hearted paranormal romp with some good old-fashioned fantasy stories in between. Pick and choose, or read it straight through, but if you are looking for a good read to keep you busy, pick up this anthology and enjoy!

This is my first foray into the world of Joyee Flynn. I’d seen plenty of reviews and couldn’t wait to nab a book for myself. The plot is unique and filled with twists and turns. I liked meeting a new group of characters and seeing how they dealt with their gifts. This was a quick read and it had more than a few interesting moments.

Madden “Mad” Forrest has a tough job. He’s got paranormal abilities and it takes a lot out of him when he’s using them. He’s also in the market for a good time. Can’t say as I blame him, I mean, a man needs some recreation. I liked his non-commital qualities–just one night, something fun, get the tension out. Hey, he’s believeable in that respect. I also didn’t get to see things from Josh’s point of view and I think that would’ve added a degree of depth the story lacked. Now I realize it’s from Mad’s point of view, but the sex scenes felt rushed. I got the idea they were in the throes of passion, but I didn’t feel it. I wanted more discovery, more time to realize that they belonged together, not such quickness. It happened almost too fast and I struggled to overcome my disbelief. There are also a lot of characters, though I’m betting Ms. Flynn will give each one his own story and kudos.

The story itself is unique and the characters are interesting. I am certainly looking for more in this author’s backlist as she certainly writes some sizzling hot male/male scenes. Grab a copy of My Maven, My Everything for a smoking good time.

Even though you never meet Fairy Queen Lucieene in this story, her presence is felt through out the entire book. Holly would have never even considered being a Naughty Godmother if it wasn’t for her mother’s (Queen Lucieene) influence. Although it might seem to be a strange career choice for a mother to want her daughter to take, being a Naughty Godmother is much more prestigious than being a Tooth Fairy.

Holly’s just been given a promotion, albeit not one that she particularly wants. But she tackles her new job the way she handles everything else in her life, with a wry sense of humor, a determination to do her best, and a sincere desire to help people. I really like how Holly and Mila’s friendship is portrayed, I only wish you got to see more of it. However, the two women complement each other very well, Mila being brash and bold where Holly is a bit more like the “girl next door.” It is so very easy to imagine all sorts of trouble that these two get into. I don’t want to give anything away but I have to say that Mila’s influence at a very pivotal moment is priceless, it is the perfect combination of her love for Holly and her wicked sense of humor.

So it was very entertaining to see his internal monologue, warring with himself, going back and forth between what he wanted to do and what his character would/should do. You have to admire a guy for being able to maintain his cover when faced with the likes of Holly in her thong. The only thing that seemed really out of character for Alex were some of his emotional outburst after the truth came out. We all hate for men to be premature, either in the bedroom or out, while Alex usually doesn’t have a problem with the former there is at least one instance when he has a problem with the latter. Again I don’t want to give anything away but I will say that some things are better if you wait.

Naughty Godmother is a cute and sexy story that will make sure you never look at a Fairy Godmother in the same way again. This unique twist to the traditional fairy tale brings a new meaning to Happily Ever After.

There’s much humor in this book too and aside from it only being 80 pages long, there’s action a plenty and the sex is hot, heavy and frequent. Ms. Newmar has set the stage for her next book about Scarlett and her longhorn lovers and it will be interesting to see what challenges and direction she takes them on. On the whole though, while I found the story likable and the premise entertaining, it was also rather forgettable. But if you like it light, fun, with a kinky twist on an old classic, Leo’s Crown might be just what you’re after.
