I fell in love with the characters from the start to the absolute finish. What I very much appreciated about this book was it didn’t feel like I was reading the second book in this series. The story and the whole book was written in a way that, though I never read the first book, I knew the gist of what happened in that book without feeling like a load of information was dumped.

Also, the way it was written ensured that this readers knew and understood the other characters without veering off topic. I very much liked the band and the feel of family that the band and other friends gave off.

This was an emotional and sexy read.

Stodgy. Stubborn. Sanctimonious. Sheri Riddle can think of a long list of adjectives to describe her newest project. An artist by trade, a personality renovator by calling, she’s sure she can transform the blockheaded author into a reasonably personable human being.

Yet as they lock horns, each scrapes away layers of the other until something happens that’s quite outside of Sheri’s plans. Something that’ll take more than one taste of passion to satisfy…

What a fun and quirky short romance story!

Short, saucy and offbeat, While You Were Writing centers around Radcliffe McQueen, a male romance novelist and Sheri Riddle, an artist in town visiting her brother.

Radcliffe is a mess, and I mean truly in a bad way. He doesn’t take care of his appearance, his house could be featured on an episode of “Hoarders” and he has writer’s block to top things off. Sheri has decided the man needs her help, after all that’s what she does besides being an artist. She takes on “projects” , people who are going through a hard time and sets them back on a productive tract. But, she never dreamed Radcliffe would turn HER into HIS project and the two of them would wind falling in love despite the odds against such a thing.

The only very small issue I had with the book, is one I often have with shorter stories, and that is, some areas are not fleshed out enough. In this case, I wish some of Radcliffe’s issues had been addressed further, maybe with more insight into his depression and other problems , which he was susceptible to, to begin with. I felt we got a bigger look at Sheri’s problems, which of the two, were easier to address, but Radcliffe’s issues were deep and serious, thus needing more air time.

I laughed, cried, and cheered for this odd ball couple who each had a cross to bear in life. Radcliffe really does have some mental instabilities working against him. Think Jack Nicholson in “As Good As If Gets” , in someways. While he is not the warmest person in world, and he can certainly say and do things that are not nice, Sheri puts a mirror in front of his face and he begins to see himself through her eyes and he doesn’t care for that image at all. But, by the same token, Sheri is carrying around her own baggage and Radcliffe, in his blunt way, opens her eyes as well, causing her to do some very serious soul searching of her own.

Some serious mental health issues are addressed here and the message is simple, pure and sweet. We are all flawed in one way or another. Some people have noticeable flaws, others have hidden flaws they are in denial of, some issues are long term and require more work to live with, but with love and patience relationships can grow, prosper, and yield wonderful rewards. While this couple is not your typical H/h, they are more charming because of it. This was a very nice, enjoyable romance.

Marlowe is a pickpocket, a housebreaker—and a better actress than any professional on the stage. She runs with the Covent Garden Cubs, a gang of thieves living in the slums of London’s Seven Dials. It’s a fierce life, and Marlowe has a hard outer shell. But when she’s alone, she allows herself to think of a time before—a dimly remembered life when she was called Elizabeth.

Maxwell, Lord Dane, is intrigued when his brother, a hired investigator, ropes him into his investigation of the fiercely beautiful hellion. He teaches her to navigate the social morass of the ton while his brother attempts to confirm her true identity. But Marlowe will not escape so easily. Instead, Dane is drawn into her world of danger and violence, where the student becomes the teacher and love is the greatest risk of all.

This is more than a love story; it’s a story of a family’s quest to be reunited, a journey of one man from self-involvement to awareness and a triumph over the machinations of a villain. Through it all is entertainment, fascination and excitement.

Earls Just Want to Have Fun sounds like a silly romantic jaunt in Regency England. It’s actually not silly at all but filled with hard truths of life on the street. The author does a good job of depicting the harshness, the struggles and the hopelessness of the people stuck in Seven Dials. The words like snapper, dubber and tilter lent an authentic air to the tale. Stuck in that mire amongst thievery and cutthroats is the heroine, Marlowe. A reader is quite aware who she really is based on the beginning but one of the book’s plot threads is how to get her back to where she belongs and that’s no easy task.

I crack up thinking about Max’s brother, Brook. In the back of my mind I hear Max say to Brook like Hardy did to Laurel (1930s), “Well here’s another nice mess you’ve gotten me into.” And what a mess it was. Max is so self-righteous and opinionated – and boring. He needs someone like Marlowe and readers are clued into that fairly quickly due to the skill of the author. Marlowe’s method of speech perplexed and discombobulated Max something fierce which created some of the most fun and amusing scenes throughout the novel.

I appreciated how Ms. Galen took the time to detail Max’s high-brow attitude in the beginning. It showed me a man I wouldn’t want to know, and through the course of trying to re-make Marlowe into Elizabeth, he changed, became a better man, a better person who finally understood what it means to be in love and to be loved. I really liked him by the time the book ended.

Marlowe a/k/a Elizabeth is a plucky, spunky survivor. She has no memory of her true history except some faded memory that seems like a dream. She is very distrusting of Max and the worst punishment he visited upon her was a bath. The one thing that stands out for me about the heroine is that she avoided being too clichéd. I’m thrilled. Usually when the bad guy threatens, the heroine turns into a stupid martyr and tries to act like she’s her own island. Not so, Marlowe. She had gumption and was actually very brave to do what she actually did do. For me that saved the story. If the author had her character do anything else I would have been greatly disappointed. Instead, I was treated to a heroine I was more than willing to read about, and enjoyed every minute of it.

Another treat was the seduction of Marlowe and its culmination. It was very sexy, sultry and had a lot of emotional impact. It complicated their relationship somewhat but that’s what made the novel more compelling and interesting.

Earls Just Want to Have Fun is a very well written tale that entertains in a big way. It’s busy, suspenseful and at times even a nail-biter, but it’s balanced perfectly with humor, fun, whimsy and strong emotions. Historical romance readers have a treat in store for them with this book. It has good triumphing over evil and a reluctant hero saving the day. It’s quite a roller coaster of a read with a completely satisfying happy ever after conclusion. The writing makes it easy to recommend the book to other romance readers. I liked it. What I liked too was the hook of getting to know Brook. He’s a man in serious need of a woman and I can’t wait for his turn. Bet it’s going to be fun!

A Reckless Desire…

Lady Clarissa Bevington is in trouble. A reckless indiscretion has left her with two choices: ruin her family with the scandal of the Season, or marry Mr. Kincraig, the notorious scoundrel mistaken as her lover. Desperate and disgraced, Clarissa vows to love and cherish a veritable stranger, a man whose eyes smolder with danger—and undeniable desire…

An Unexpected Arrangement

As an agent for the Crown, Lord Donovan Blackmer has spent the last two years guarding Clarissa’s grandfather from an unknown assassin while disguised as the rakehell Kincraig. His mission may now be over, but his duty has just begun. Salvaging his beautiful, impetuous wife’s virtue will cost him his fortune and his position as an officer—but it might save him from the ghosts that haunt his own past. When their marriage “in name only” leads to exquisite seduction, Donovan must risk the only thing he has left to lose . . . his heart.

An agent of the Crown and a spoiled girl could never work together, could they? They come from two different worlds, right? Wrong. Lily Dalton makes them work, and work beautifully.

The plot is intense and there are a few twists that spice it up along the way. But the main attraction of the novel by far were the two main characters. The way Dominick acts honorably towards Clarissa despite losing everything because of the situation, and how Clarissa grows up into a determined and fair woman after making a huge mistake was a wonderful insight into their personalities. At first it seems they couldn’t be more different, but through mutually deciding to make the marriage work they become far more alike and compatible.

I especially liked the first part of the novel in which Clarissa and Dominick were thrust into an unwanted marriage and the conflict between them is tangible. Unlike in other historical romances, their union started off with no attraction between them and no desire on either of their parts to be married. Clarissa was even portrayed as a rather frivolous, spoiled girl. But as the story developed and their marriage progressed, we got to see a different picture. The fact that their union started off inauspiciously but they were both strong enough to accept it and make it successful told of the strengths of their characters and made me love them so much more.

I felt the long epilogue was redundant and it spoiled the whole effect by tying up all loose ends rather too neatly. Other than that, the narrative was engaging, the characters as well, even though I haven’t read the previous two novels in the series and I didn’t know anything about them and their histories. But now I want to know all about them and I’ll be sure to read their stories too.

Never Surrender to a Scoundrel was a delightful read with lovable characters and an inventive storyline. The narrative will grip you and pull you into the story until you will sigh with satisfaction at the sweet ending.

He is looking for an animal trainer who could bring a couple a couple of trusted and trained dogs to help the kids, including his nephew Noah. However, things become heated when he meets Merry Atwater, the owner of a volunteer dog rescue service.

I loved the fact For Keeps includes dogs because they played such a big role in this. This story was not only about TJ and Merry. It was about forgiveness and taking chances.

After the first initial connection between TJ and Merry, the relationship between them grew slowly. The spark that flies between them is entertaining enough that the slow growth is not apparent. I think the eventual build-up was needed not only for Merry’s past but for other characters’ as well. Each character was entwined within the plot so well that even the slightest change would have brought a huge change to the climax. Every character had an important part to play.

The story that was woven caught my attention and kept it through out until the end.  Recommended!

Pure romance is in store for a reader when they pick up their own copy of I Adored a Lord. There is the primary story and then there is a sub-romance going on that reminded me very much of a fairy tale. Happy ever afters abound, even though a couple aren’t about romance but more like comeuppances and justice served. It’s a fun treat.

The book starts off reading like a fairy tale narrative, setting up the background of the heroine in preparation for what comes later. It’s an interesting touch. That being said, the author continued to plop narrative and telling throughout the book. I found the novel to be a bit wordy and reading speed was reduced. That doesn’t mean the plot, characters, environment or dialogue weren’t engaging – they were. I enjoyed the premise, the intrigue and the hunt for clues in addition to the dynamics between some of the secondary characters. There’s a lot to like about this novel.

The author was ebullient with her descriptions of the Romeo and Juliet play the prince wanted to stage. In fact, the details included in most chapters were overly thorough and time was spent painting scenes for a reader. Many readers will enjoy that kind of depth of detail; it bogged me down. I prefer action and dialogue and brisk plot movement and I’m glad to say that were it counted, Ms. Ashe came through. If the scene with a villain or a spiteful viper was onstage, the author tightened her writing to provide a solid impact. I appreciated that.

The romance between Vitor, the hero, and Ravenna, the heroine, is a slow sensual build. I liked how she initially rebuffed him. I enjoyed his pursuit of her, and for most of the book the heat level was sweet, until it was not. When their passion finally was fully explored, it wasn’t fully explored. There’s an interesting twist and a wonderful bit of drama that coincides with that event. It wasn’t until much later that they were able to get past all the bullets and evil plots and interruptions and finally be relaxed and be together the way they wanted to be. What harm can a little water do anyway?

Overall, this was a fun standalone novel. I liked the mystery of the who-done-it, the search for clues and how practical and pragmatic Ravenna was about it all, and Vitor’s appreciation for her brains and logic. This is an engaging historical romance with a touch of mystery that I do recommend to other romance readers. It’s worth checking out. Even the author’s note at the end was fascinating and provided a reason to believe in Vitor’s family dynamics. I quite enjoyed reading this tale and am looking forward to reading another in the series.

We all have listened canadian pharmacy for cialis as the top most treatment for ED problems; Kamagra is a generic version of this medicine and contains the same ingredient of it. I really enjoyed how the author mixed up danger, exotic locations and romance with babysitting. The blurb only hints at the humor the story delivers when Huntley and Melissa try child care for the first time without any preparation or warning. What made it exceptionally challenging was the babies were part time furry jaguar cubs and potty time sure kept the hero and heroine hopping. Talk about a litmus test for parenthood!

Ms. Spear incorporated a lot of humor in her current adventure, Jaguar Pride. Some occasions were moments of lighthearted dialogue between Melissa and Huntley, and others were generated by watching two very capable and lethal agents turn to mush and being susceptible to the cuteness inherent in babies, human or cat, making the lead characters very human, relatable and interesting.

The bad guys are vile just by the nature of their activities. Kidnapping big jungle cats for profit is bad enough, but dealing with baby critters too is outright mean. The author made it very clear that poachers are to be reviled and are villains which, for the most part, are unable to be redeemed. I think the author was a bit heavy handed with dispatching the poachers left and right but in doing so reminds me of something I read at some point. I paraphrase, “Never get an author mad, she/he will write you into a book as a villain and give you your just desserts.” If that’s the case, well, no poacher should EVER cross Ms. Spear.

Most secondary characters were written well and supported Melissa and Huntley’s mission. At times, the flow of events seemed too smooth and orchestrated but the end result is what’s important. I believe the two guys from the Avenger branch were introduced to entice interest for future heroes. It didn’t quite work for me because they were too one dimensional and convenient. Perhaps in the future readers will get a better hint as to their hero-worthiness. As it is, I liked Everett a whole lot better.

I consider Oliver a red herring, Genista a clarifier and the local police as part-time comic foils. It’s a very busy book but no matter who is on stage, a reader is never left in doubt this is a solid standalone read about Melissa and Huntley falling in love during a mission. I really liked the chemistry between them and for readers who like falling in love to have a physical presence, Ms. Spear provides many opportunities for satisfaction.

Jaguard Pride is a nail biter of an adventure. It’s steamy, humorous and chock-full of action to keep readers at the edge of their seats. Even though the topic is serious, the story isn’t dark. The author focuses on the optimistic side of life even while dealing harshly with the dirty underbelly of poaching. It’s a difficult balance but Ms. Spear pulls it off, providing readers with a thoroughly gripping novel. It’s another winner.

If Biloxi surrenders her dreams for Fleur de Lis and tows the line with tradition, will she also be forced to give up on “forever love” due to the hate their families still harbor?

Bayou Bound is the second book in the Fleur de Lis Series and it focuses on a family centred relationship. Nick and Biloxi’s families are opposed to each other; imagine Romeo and Juliet set in the deep south with deep rooted Southern traditions and values. This is a novel which involves the whole environment around the couple rather than tunnel visioning in on the two of them.

Biloxi is first portrayed as a reluctant damsel in distress but she does have strength of character and is a modern businesswoman in her own right. Nick is a typically strong male – physically and emotionally. However he does have a strange past, his grandfather having hidden much of his family’s history from him as a boy.

There are a few sex scenes thrown in which are satisfying to read and have some spark but these are few and far between due to the familial twist of the book. However there is a lot of fire and physical contact between these two before the sex comes into play.

The families brought an interesting variant to the romance theme but I did think that they came between the couple too often. At many times, this story was more about the drama of their families than the romance. I also felt that the traditional and hard-to-change values of their families were perhaps a little too stuck in stone for contemporary fiction.

That said, I was drawn into the narrative and was never bored by the pace of the piece. I kept reading through the night until the story was done, just to find out how the two families could be forced to like each other and whether love would indeed “win out”. I would recommend this book to historical romance readers who want to try a contemporary piece or to traditional readers and family orientated individuals who would like to see a happy ending.

Shattering Halos is a book which draws the reader through adventure after adventure and into the world of angels on Earth without pause. Sentences fall into one another with little time to dawdle over details and there were very few boring or unnecessary scenes.

Gabriel is a guardian angel out the pages of a fashion magazine with high morals and an unending need to protect his charge, Gaia. Gaia is an ordinary human girl who almost died in a horrific car crash, only to actually witness her guardian angel. The premiss is strong and drew me in immediately but the worst sides of this issue weren’t dwelt on and Gaia got on with her life a little too easily. She was far more distraught by a later romantic mishap which did not sit well for me.

In addition, Gabriel acted like a young teenager as opposed to an angel that has lived through centuries of guarding his charges and he falls into temptation far too easily to be realistic. I felt the chemistry between the two would pay off far more if their relationship was developed more slowly and with Gabriel’s reactions being more manly rather than coming down to the high school level of Gaia.

Sunniva Dee also tries to get many different themes and story arcs into one piece from the darkest of advances to the biggest of battles and sweetest of loves. I feel the story could have been simplified and cut down for greater effect and realism.

The romantic side of the relationship is very overcharged and oversimplified  and feels like teenage high school drama.  It wasn’t really my cup of tea. The bedroom side of the relationship was not too detailed. Parts were mentioned but the joy of the outcome was more metaphysical than physical.

Taking all this into consideration, this book is not one I would recommend to a lover of adult fiction but perhaps it’s more appropriate for lovers of young adult or new adult stories. They may enjoy Shattering Halos for the fast pace and innocence of a younger time.

It is a bond that could both give new meaning to life while also having the ability to take away life.

Tracey’s life changes completely from the moment she meets a stranger. It was insta-love but like any romance story there should be something that makes it interesting. For me it was the whole fantasy world-building and how Tracey was introduced to it. She falls for a burdened Sephlem (If you want to know more about what that means I suggest you start reading it right away). Tracey gets introduced to a chaotic and dangerous world as his mate.

Peiri Ann started the novel in a very attention getting way. A high school student meets her mate and instantly faints . The hero saves the day by taking care of her. It was cute and touching. But one thing I noticed after a couple of chapters was that it was not descriptive enough. Though, the descriptions were precise and to the point, I wanted more. It took me a long time to finish the book for that reason.

In addition there were a couple of grammatical errors and word choices that were just not right.

The story outline was very interesting but I think it started a slowly, until Tracey really realized and found out what being a mate for a Burdened would be like. I loved how it ended. It was expected and surprising in a way. I truly appreciated the twists and turns that were given, making me want to know more and more until….. Viola! I finished reading the book!

One other thing that caught my attention and held it was the characters. There were some very good and annoying characteristics in some of them. I was never able to really get to really know Tracey although the story is written in her POV.

This book is not only about Tracey and Nathan. It is also about Tracey’s best friend, Glen, and Nathan’s cousin, Scott. In addition to Tracey and Nathan being mates, Glen and Scott are also mates. I just didn’t like how Scott treated Glen. I also think the story would have been helped by multiple points of view. It would have made the annoyance with Scott a lot more tolerable. While I didn’t much like Scott and Glen’s relationship, I loved Nathan and Tracey’s. They talked; if there was something that needed to be asked, they did while also realizing the sensitivity of the other’s feelings. Another thing to mention is that there are some scenes which may offend some readers’ sensibilities.

Furthermore, I would have liked to know more about Nathan’s world. Though it felt like the information provided was sufficient enough to get the story told, I think giving an extra amount of detail and background would have helped strengthen the plot. I was left with more questions about the world than answers. However, I think the second book would give more answers.

That being said I really do believe that it is a book worth reading. It’s a twisted family, but a family filled with love and secrets!
