How can that not grip a reader by the heartstrings? And then, to find out that the eventual hero and heroine are at odds and should be enemies, how can that dynamic not intrigue and inspire curiosity in a reader? I fell for the plot hook, line and sinker. What an amazing read!

I’m completely serious about the impact this book had on me. Every chapter ended with a cliff hanger that placed Jessa in jeopardy, or it ended with a shocking revelation in which the next chapter had Cooper and Jessa dealing with what it means to their lives, their hopes and dreams. Or, people are getting killed left and right and whenever someone hints at giving Cooper the information he seeks to solve a crime another crime occurs to compound the first one. I was biting my nails, shouting at my e-reader and many times overcome with emotion because Ms. Fossen kept the suspense, urgency and action at a fever pitch. The intensity was amazing!

There is nothing as yummy as two adversaries getting bit by the passion bug and succumbing to their physical attraction. Whenever Cooper and Lana forget themselves and lose control, it’s great reading.

The villain is to be despised. After everything he did and was willing to do is exposed, there is no doubt in my mind that Ms. Fossen created a perfect antagonist. What a demented creep.

The only thing that detracted from a perfect score was the ending. For some readers it might be minor but for me, I didn’t get what I needed. If the ending had been the same in a movie in a theater, I would have left with the jitters of adrenaline. After everything Cooper and Lana went through, almost right up until the teeth clenching end, the HEA wrap up came so quick, my head spun. I needed a bit more follow through, even an epilogue, to calm my heart, be certain that the HEA I read was really going to happen and that the new family-to-be was truly abuzz with love, laughter and for the moment, peace. I didn’t get that and after practically hyperventilating through the novel I needed that smooth-over. Although to be fair, I would never have gotten in that situation if the writing hadn’t been so superb in the first place.

Avid fans of romantic suspense seriously have to consider giving Maverick Sheriff a read. It’s so well done, I don’t know why it’s not been made a movie yet. I’m wowed. I really, really recommend this book!

Like the drama of sports and behind-the-scenes family life? This one is for you. Running Home follows the heartbreak which can happen when a man jumps to play professional baseball and leaves his old flame behind to pick up the pieces… but then, years later, comes back to claim her heart.

Adam is the male romantic interest. He is forceful but sweet, often doing his best to help out his friends. The female romantic interest, Jenny, has a need to prove herself in her career, and in her life. She needs to prove she has not been left by the wayside and is, in fact, doing something with her life. She also needs to prove that an alluded-to attack by a man who leaves her scarred has not stopped her from being independent, even if it has changed her taste in cars.

The chemistry between these two protagonists is electric. Jenny is drawn to Adam like he fills that piece of her which has been empty since he left, and their kisses are steamy, and melting.

Ms. Kirby has done a great job of picking a realistic, rural setting and setting up an initial battle of wills, but the pace of the book quite slow and is more literary romance than the usual fluff. It has a solid backbone and is underlaid by the disappointment of first love broken off. This was not a deal breaker for me, but it was not what I initially expected. Make sure you are in the mood for a leisurely romance for this tale, with plenty of background trips to shop for a friend’s wedding. These two protagonists do not have a romantic relationship in isolation and it is definitely not all about them.

In addition to the relatively slower pace, this book takes advantage of a conflict between Jenny and an ex-lover towards the last third of the book. I didn’t like how he suddenly became ten times more caustic towards Jenny than before. I felt it was too dramatic and an almost unbelievable turnaround for someone supposedly in love previously. I also felt Jenny’s refusal to listen to Adam’s explanations later on was a very childish reaction. I can see why she may have wanted to protect her heart, but it felt like a more contrived than natural reaction, used to add tension to the final will-they or won’t-they drama.

That said, the kisses between Adam and Jenny were not just steamy but boiled over in a quick romp and a longer exploration in the bedroom which left their previous romantic, adolescent encounters in the dust. The only downside to these trysts was that, for those of us who fancy a little more juice in the bedroom details, the petting stopped before or skimmed over the details of release, causing this novel to be somewhere between our sensual and spicy heat ratings.

In short, Running Home is a grown-up romance which follows characters who have grown into themselves and have things to prove, to themselves and their friends. In the end, they prove these things best together, after they’re quite done with blistering kisses, sultry looks and a creaking bed. Their friends and community are more than happy for them in a traditional childhood romance made good.

Anything can happen on a strange, unfamiliar planet.

Veni’s reaction to the social customs on Earth was by far my favorite part of this book. This character grew up on a world where gender is irrelevant to one’s daily life. It was amusing to see how Veni reacted to the even mild divisions of everything from clothing to occupation based on an individual’s gender. Reading these passages truly made me feel as though I were observing human and dwarf cultures from an alien perspective. They were really well done.

There were a few small pacing issues at the end due to how closely certain subplots had been linked together. It wasn’t rushed. This section just didn’t quite match the leisurely pace of the beginning. Either choice would have worked wonderfully for this tale, but including both of them made for a slightly uneasy transition to the final scenes. With that being said, this was still something I was incredibly glad to read, and it was only a minor bump along the way.

This was such a beautifully descriptive story. Everything from how Veni’s wings shimmered to all of the steps dwarves must go through to mine precious metals were described so vividly that I never wanted to stop reading. Ms. Harrison’s writing style is incredibly smooth. Some of her metaphors were almost poetic in nature, which only made her descriptions of what was happening her characters even more fascinating than they already were.

Sabinne ‘Saber’ Darrieux’s father, the billionaire CEO of Frontenac Global Security has been kidnapped. His ransom is not cash in a numbered offshore account, or a briefcase of Bearer Bonds but something utterly unique, incredibly valuable, and until recently, hidden away from the world.

The kidnapper seems to know Saber very well, and knows that the next day, through her work as an elite translator she will be in the same location as the Object. She must steal the Object and deliver it to the kidnapper to ransom her father.

Adrian Steele, a British Intelligence agent has just come off of two harrowing missions. Upon returning to London for a well-earned rest, he learns that his friend and fellow agent, has been murdered in Moscow, but not before he made use of a unique Object as a mobile ‘drop site’ for the valuable intelligence he was carrying.

In reality they are at the mansion to check out the security arrangements — for their own reasons — to steal the Object, a Fabergé egg worth thirty million dollars. But who will get to the egg first?

Fabergé eggs are very famous for their unique surprises. Saber and Steele are about to be very surprised, indeed.

And when Saber clashes with Steele; more than sparks will explode!

Fun, quirky and intense, TheFaberge Entanglement is an interesting change from most romantic suspense novels.

I really enjoyed Saber…she’s smart and has some very interesting friends. The book opens in a very light-hearted manner with one of those friends at an…interesting theater show. Though things certainly do intensify over time, thankfully some of that light-heartedness remains. Be warned, though, this does start a little slowly and takes a little time to pick up the pace, but hang in there. It’s worth it!

Steele is pretty amazing and definitely a hottie. I do have to question how quickly things started to get physical (like the bone-melting kiss at their first meet), but in some way I can’t blame Saber for her reaction to the man because he’s yummy!

The storyline was good, though there are a pretty large number of characters to keep track of and the strange, short chapters that move us rapidly from one point-of-view to another made that a little difficult for me.

The strength of this story is in its two main characters. They are three-dimensional, unique and both strong and fun. Even the secondary characters were well drawn, and they are all what really kept me reading. I wonder (hope?) that we see them again. Maybe Saber and Steele should start their own outfit … because I’d definitely read about them again!

Since the day Lord Dillon earned his spurs, rumors of his savagery on the battlefield have preceded him into every room, stilling tongues and sparking fear. Weary of battle, he wishes only to find a woman he can wed who will approach him not with fear, but with the tenderness that has been absent from his life for so long. Yet only the wisewoman seems invariably at ease in his presence. Perhaps because she garners the same fear in others that he does himself.

For seven years, Alyssa has been by Lord Dillon’s side, counseling him from the shadows, healing him with her hands, and staving off the worst of his loneliness while his fearsome reputation keeps others at bay. Blessed–or cursed–with gifts that label her a sorceress, she is forced to conceal her youth and the love she harbors for him beneath umbral robes that lead Dillon and his people to believe she is the same aged wisewoman who served his father.

All is revealed, however, and passions flare when an enemy threatens Dillon’s life and Alyssa sacrifices everything to save him. When Dillon discovers that the wisewoman is far from elderly, he is instantly entranced. And, as he and Alyssa work together to defeat an enemy bent on destroying them both, Dillon will risk anything–even the wrath of his king–to be with her.

I have to say, this is one humdinger of a jump in time. It’s a good thing I was alone in the house when I got to the chapter with the surprise guest. I was surprised, overjoyed and thrilled. I voiced my “WOOHOO!” quite loudly. Then, came the realization of what Ms. Duvall had actually done and I was tickled pink.

Symptoms of alcoholic neuropathy The symptoms viagra sample pills experienced during alcoholic neuropathy vary from person to person. The semirigid rods keep your penis firm but click these guys cialis for cheap bendable. I’m going to try to not give any spoilers because the power of discovery would be lost for other readers. It’s going to be so hard though. I’ll just concentrate on the heroine, Alyssa, and the hero, Dillon. They are the focus of all the fun, drama and excitement and carry the story quite solidly.

I have no idea if readers will find my reference obtuse but one of my favorite 80s movies is Krull and the Widow of the Web’s secret name was Lyssa or Alyssa, which reminded me of the heroine in this novel. In the movie, she’s also mysterious, clad in black and ‘knows things’, is considered a seer. So too is the heroine in A Sorceress of His Own. She’s the Wise One, the advisor to Dillon as lord of the keep. But she wants to be so much more to him and knows that can never be. As a plot conflict, unrequited love is quite effective.

Dillon is a man with an open mind which I greatly appreciated. His acceptance of what he eventually must face was refreshing because it was written as natural and thoroughly believable. His defense of his advisor, the woman who he never touches, never sees and never questions in any way when referring to her person, is amazing considering how much of a mystery she was to him for many years. The scene when he yearns for more, when she listens to his deepest heart, when the final moment of trust was sealed in that personal sharing is the turning point in their relationship. Things pick up from there.

The heroine’s love knows no bounds when it comes to Dillon. It takes a toll on her and is reminiscent of the original Star Trek episode, The Empath. There are so many elements of sci-fi fantasy movies woven throughout this tale that I can’t help but enjoy myself and look forward to what else Ms. Duvall will surprise me with.

The villain is easy to spot as he makes no bones about hating Dillon, but he’s a slippery one. He was written effectively and when, how shall I say this, when Allyssa asked Dillon where he was, the hero’s answer was worthy of a Jeff Dunham skit – I laughed out loud, then giggled. As morbid as it was, I found Dillon’s dry recount hilarious.

The only thing that I felt was a bit rushed were the scenes with and about the surprise guest. I can’t say anything further. Perhaps I am greedy for more and because I didn’t get it, I’m pouting. But that’s the only negative I can come up with for this whole novel.

As for secondary characters, wow, are there a lot to be impressed with. Every single one was important and certainly moved the plot along and contributed to my understanding of the hero and heroine’s personalities. Ms. Duvall excels in creating a community feel to her stories and this is no different.

I quite enjoyed my journey in the historical past spiced with the flavor of fantasy and the paranormal. I enjoyed Dillon’s eventual seduction of Alyssa and how very much in love they came to be. It was a hard road, filled with betrayal, sword fights, death, ambushes, and yet there are moments of lightness, joy and familial reconciliation. A love that can weather the storms that batter Dillon and Alyssa as they did surely means they are destined for a solid and secure happy ever after and I couldn’t be happier for them.

If a reader has read Ms. Duvall’s contemporaries but doesn’t usually read historical romances as a rule, I heartily and earnestly recommend giving A Sorceress of His Own a try. You might be delighted by the surprise like I was and add this new series to your must buy book list. I know it’s on mine. A Sorceress of His Own has a wonderful dynamic, an amazing promise of future adventures and a well-told romance that is sure to please. I’m a happy reader.

Claire hesitates to accept the warmth that beckons in Drake’s arms. But soon their attraction ignites, pulling them in deeper than either of them expected. Into passion that could weld them forever—or burn them to cinders.

In From The Cold was a very special story. It had a nice romance for the main couple who got to each other in a sweet but bumbling way. That was what hooked me at the beginning, but later on it was the tragic drama, and how together Drake and Claire were, that had me unable to put this story aside for a minute.

Claire and Drake stepped on each other’s toes at first. Oh, the sparks were flying, but they both took a few wrong turns before deciding to mend their fences. I actually liked both of these characters because the author gave them just the perfect flaws to make them seem real to me. There had been bad relationships for them both though, and Claire’s heartache and fear caused her to push Drake away for a while. But he liked her because she was so different from the women of his social circle. Claire liked him for who he was and not just for what he had. He just had a difficult time convincing her to take a chance. Then they were drawn into some tragic drama with a little girl and some of Drake’s messed up friends. All in all though, I felt that it all worked out for the best.

This was a great read. The story was romantic for Drake and Claire, and it all seemed real because of the way they acted. Drake was a billionaire CEO, but he was first a father who got overwhelmed trying to do potty patrol. That made him relatable. It was lighthearted, especially in the beginning. It was suspenseful because all the way through I was absolutely certain that something serious would happen with Yvette. The story just kept flowing along at an easy pace until it happened, and then I thought, well I never saw that coming. Most of all I liked the part with the girls and how that all played out. It made the story for me.

This was a lovely story that I greatly enjoyed !

Jack Conroy, Tulsa Police Department detective, is focused with razor sharp intensity on the hunt for the serial rapist whose violence is increasing with every offense. For Jack, it’s personal; he sees his sister’s face in every victim. Aware of Becca only as a trauma therapist, Jack asks her to aid the investigation by working with the original rape survivors. She agrees, and soon her secrets and her life are on the line.

We inherit many things from our biological parents. Whether it be medical conditions or passed on sins either can be a very heavy burden for some off springs to bare. Rebecca and Kevin are two children that carry their father’s haunting sin every day of their lives. Kevin is being treated for mental illness, the same mental illness that plagued his father. Because of her father’s sin, Rebecca, a clinical social worker, has made it her career to help those that have been sexually violated.

Told in such an intense and gripping fashion, this story moved at such a steady pace that I really didn’t notice how long I spent reading it. The characters were strategically placed about the story but not a clue to who the rapist/killer is. Well maybe Rebecca did give clues when she gave a profile reading of the suspect. I’m just being honest I really didn’t find out until the author actually revealed the name of the suspect. I think the entire plot is very interesting in how the sins of fathers carry on into their children in different ways, and how the rapist picked his victims was a interesting shocker to me. I thoroughly enjoyed the author’s writing style. The way she writes is like a reader’s dream…visual surroundings painted so clear, enjoyable characters and a solid thought out plot. Oh and wow I can’t forget the love scene, it was so poetic. The build up of attraction, the intimate touch; this is how a love scene is suppose to be. I enjoyed this story so I’m inclined to read more from this author.

This is a very suspenseful and entertaining read. The writing created a visual that is easy to place yourself in. The characters were described as if they were actual and true people. I enjoyed the attraction between Rebecca and officer Jack Conroy. The secret between them is a very sensitive one and I often found myself wondering how it would play out. However the author did an awesome job in working their issue out. I felt for Rebecca, she is a woman that has a huge kind and loving heart; she wasn’t looking for happiness but she surely did deserve some. Her concern for her brother, her niece and all the women she met through her work and the time she spent volunteering showed her caring spirit. She didn’t have a life of hanging out with the girls, shopping or vacationing, she spent her time in soup kitchens, feeding and caring for the homeless in the area.

The context of rape, murder and mental illness is unfortunately something we see in our world today, but for the author to intertwine such topics into a novel and still have good to over power these unnecessary evils makes for a good read. I must add that I was a little disappointed that there wasn’t much action as I thought there would be when the rapist was caught. Jack was a one man army that took the perp down with not much hassle.

Catherine didn’t just give us a romance story but she built an entirely bigger story around it. Though the subject matter maybe disturbing for some, this is a winning novel that is definitely worth recommending.

Cara is delightful, a typical teenager at first she matures into a thoughtful young woman, who does herself a disservice by overthinking things. Their interaction is lovely and I truly enjoyed this book, especially when it got to the spicy, hot bits.

The book has a nice blend of friendship, romance and light heartedness, along with intrigue and danger from another source. Looks like this is going to be a good series.

I was initially dismayed by how rocky things began between Nathan and Angie. Angie clearly had the hots for Nathan, and told him so right up front. Nathan, however, has never done “casual” and had zero interest in having or being a fling. This added quite a bit of tension between them, and while I could understand, it lessened the impact for me of their chemistry. I really felt for Nathan – who had been treated horrendously by an ex-lover. He’s everything I love in a cowboy hero, strong, loyal and steadfast. Angie was a little harder to read. While she seemed outwardly like a typical happy, sexy city girl, there were hidden pockets in her past and with her family that we learn as the book moves on. I was also a little sad she felt at times she couldn’t be honest with Nathan. While it was always for an understandable reason, someone as hurt as Nathan had been previously deserved the truth and respect. This diminished my enjoyment of Angie. I loved the setting of the book though, that wonderful small town feel and with a strong cast of family on Nathan’s side there were plenty of funny antics and happy moments to offset the tension.

There is a strong cast of secondary characters whom I thoroughly enjoyed, and clear links to past (and hopefully future!) books. The sex was hot and steamy. Spicy enough I’d not share it with my mother, but not outrageous or envelope pushing. I’m intrigued enough by Nathan’s family and the cast of characters that I will look into other titles by this author. Overall I really enjoyed this book. A few bumps couldn’t diminish the love and chemistry between Nathan and Angie and I was thrilled with their happy ending.

C.J. Silver is eager to help the new she-wolves in town renovate the old hotel in time for the holidays, especially if it means spending time under the mistletoe with the alluring Laurel MacTire.

The bustle in the long abandoned hotel attracts the attention of human ghosthunters out to prove the place haunted, but the bigger problem is keeping them from discovering the werewolves in Silver Town. CJ and Laurel have to pull the wool over everyone’s eyes. Working together is a surprisingly hot holiday treat for two attractive and clever wolf shifters.

There’s nothing better than a haunted holiday, wolfie style, and A Silver Wolf Christmas not only promises some spooky shenanigans and a romance but the solving of a decades old mystery. I enjoyed the journey.

For the most part, this is a character driven story with Laurel and CJ’s budding romance on center stage. The author goes into a little bit of history as to why the heroine and her sisters are in town, and it also touches on the fact that CJ and his brothers are newly re-established in the town and are finally fitting back in. There is a strong sense of community which is accomplished through the varied secondary characters that populate the town. Ms. Spear took the time to describe the town, some of its traditions and some of its challenges. Like a lot of small hamlets, they struggle to stay afloat financially and have to come up with unique events to liven things up. Nothing makes a celebration easier than a holiday and Christmas is the perfect backdrop for some magic and romance. I adored the snowman making contest.

I enjoyed how Laurel and CJ ended up taking turns pursuing each other. The novel is told through both their points of view so I could get a sense as to what motivated them in their quest to connect. It’s hesitant at first but soon sparks fly, libidos are inflamed and readers get to see how good CJ and Laurel are together.

The mystery comes with a twist. It’s not as clear cut as I originally thought. In addition, the bad guys end up being a huge surprise and the revelation stunned me. I really like that Ms. Spear could pull the wool over my eyes so efficiently.

Most of this book worked for me. The only fly in the ointment was when the eldest villain’s words and actions at one point didn’t make sense. When he capitulated so completely right after he was snarly and vindictive and mean and then turned into a sappy Hallmark Moment made me think that an emotional step between point A and B was skipped. It happened too fast for me to believe, even for a possible Christmastime miracle. I still believe he’s a jerk and not to be trusted.

This is a very emotional book on many levels. Laurel and her sisters find out some shocking news, CJ and his brothers discover something even more disturbing about their late father, and through it all, Laurel and CJ have to reconcile what all the external conflicts might do to their growing love for each other. There are a lot of fears, doubts and worries but both protagonists are strong, motivated and hot for each other. They both also have healthy senses of humor and ability to laugh. Humor lightens the tone of the story when it’s needed most. It’s very well balanced.

The best part about the book is Laurel and her sisters have finally found a home; a home where their hearts can heal and, at least for Laurel with CJ’s help, find love and acceptance. It’s beautiful, welcoming and it’s the high note in a wonderful story worthy of the title, A Silver Wolf Christmas. Ms. Spear has written another wonderful story that illustrates the best of holiday romances. The bonus of this being a paranormal romance adds extra fun making A Silver Wolf Christmas a howling good time and a recommended read.
