Seduction is the sweetest secret . . .

One kiss, then another, and before she knows it, Lady Julia Leighton succumbs to the breathtaking charms of a stranger . . . at the ball celebrating her betrothal to a man who considers her a sister. The steamy encounter changes her life in more ways than one. When she meets her seducer again, Julia is no longer a lady, but an outcast, a paid companion to a lady who used to be her equal— and her desire for him burns as strong as ever.

He goes by Thomas Merritt, a name as questionable as his intentions. A thief with a secret past, he was utterly bewitched by the beautiful and innocent Lady Julia. But after their one glorious evening together, the handsome rogue left without a backward glance—knowing that he could never be a part of her world again .

Now in a Vienna rife with political intrigue, Thomas harbors a perilous secret—and the only person who can aid him is the woman who has captured his heart.

Flawed but fascinating characters in The Secret Life of Lady Julia make it a story of love that is thwarted by societal mores and the ‘rules-controlled’ peerage of England. The taboos are difficult for the teenage Julia, who just wants to be loved, to obey.

It is quite essential and natural that a common family man must adopt the perfect combination of ayurveda and sex to practice blissful actual sex act following the ayurveda concept of vigor and vitality. sildenafil without prescription respitecaresa.org With the help of the knowledge gained from this levitra tab 20mg study, he aims at curing sexual disorders and dysfunctions. Lady Julia Leighton, no longer is to be called ‘Lady’. She is a fallen woman, disowned, and reduced to working as a companion to a grieving widow Dorothea Hallam. She is the sister of Major Lord Stephen Ives who was a friend of Julia’s now-dead brother James. They are all traveling to the Peace Conference in Vienna after Napoleon was defeated and exiled to Elba. Even though Julia has fallen from her high station in society, she is no shrinking violet and her lifelong training to be a duchess serves her well. Moreover, baby Jamie would not have been if not for her indiscretion and that thought she could not bear. He is the joy of her life—her precious child.

Thomas Merritt seems unredeemable through much of the story, but the masterful unfolding of his character by author Lecia Cornwall kept me rooting for him. He too was disowned, accused of a deed he did not do. He has no home and no place he wants to go; he roams with his valet Patrick Donovan seeking places where he can steal from people who were once his peers. His charm or forged invitations get him into all the right places. However, his short encounter with Lady Julia at her betrothal ball haunts him, nags at him, and makes him long for her — her scent, her passion, her perfection.

Major Lord Stephen Ives is now a junior diplomat but had been in the Napoleonic wars where Julia’s brother saved his and many others’ lives. Worried about his sister Dorothea who uses laudanum to ease her grief over the death of her husband and little son, Stephen hires Julia to be her companion, but he also worries about how having a ‘ruined’ woman in his household that could affect his career. But an even bigger problem is his feelings for Julia. As his superior senior diplomat Lord Castlereagh drafts Julia to listen and watch for intrigues at social function, Stephen finds himself hard pressed to keep a balance with his career aspirations and his desire to make the smart, beautiful, skilled Julia his own.

While Lord Castlereagh is much pleased with Julia, Lady Castlereagh hates Julia and with the help of the depraved Lord Charles Stewart who is in charge of security for the England diplomatic entourage in Vienna, she plans to see that Julia is sent back to England with no recommendations and no funds.

Secondary characters like Princess Katrina Kostova of Russia, Prince de Ligne, and Talleyrand the French ambassador keep the cauldrons of intrigue and gossip bubbling; while characters like Erich, the King of Thieves in Vienna and Patrick Donovan, Thomas Merritt’s valet, reveal the unsavory underbelly of the beautiful city. All of them mix and mingle to influence what happens in the lives of the hero and heroine.

How Julia and Thomas Merritt get together in Vienna while he associates with the underbelly of the city and she moves among the elite makes page-turning reading. How both of them find favor with European movers and shakers gives the reader an inside peek of how people, regardless of their station in society, strive to realize their dreams.

While the Epilogue was a real “downer” for me, the main story plot and the sub-plots that enhance it are captivating and entertain from start to finish.

Lady Anice vows to flee the amorous advances of King Henry I and return to her home in the Highlands where she hopes to find a laird to wed. She soon discovers her staff has vanished. Premonitions of imminent danger warn her of foul play, and she is certain she is cursed when it comes to marriage.

The king orders the Highlander Laird Malcolm MacNeill, who is seeking an English bride, to provide the lass safe escort and learn what has become of her staff. Escorting her home safely proves a dangerous trial in and of itself and Malcolm has difficulty keeping his heart out of the matter. When the king wishes Lady Anice be wed to one of his loyal barons, the issue is further complicated. Losing his heart to the lass means Malcolm could very well lose his head.

At one point I kept waiting for the words, “Off with his head!” That’s how suspenseful this story got at one point. I couldn’t stay in that heightened level for long as this novel is jam packed with trickery, treachery, and all sorts of running around that kept me riveted. Having a romance in the middle of all of this is what made this tale so amazing. The fact that I found myself smiling and laughing on and off throughout the book made it so much better – it was a book that touched all my emotions.

But I get ahead of myself. This book snagged my attention in the first chapter when the hero, Malcolm, spied a lady doing what a lady should never do. It intrigued him but it made me laugh. Who is this woman who dares to do something so outrageous and daring? She had fortitude and a backbone, great qualities to have in a heroine – especially a lady who ends up ensnaring the attentions of a hunky Scottish Highlander who thought he wanted a completely different kind of woman. How would the author work her creative magic to make it work? The answer is the wonderful story, Winning the Highlander’s Heart.

Those feelings can interfere with performance,’ says the American soft cialis mastercard Psychological Association.
Anice is the lady in question. She’s not a typical heroine, not because she has secrets but because of the kinds of secrets they are. She’s also a pawn in a king’s game of political chess. The author did a wonderful job of expressing to a reader the frustration and helplessness that the heroine felt due to her situation. She tried her best with her limited resources and it made her a character I could respect. I was thrilled when she got all hot and bothered over her chance meeting with Malcolm because she wasn’t the only one affected by their meeting. Add in an amazing new decree from the king and life would never be the same for either the heroine or hero. Fun times for me, not so much the protagonists.

I got to see Dougald again and he’s even more intriguing than he was in the other book. It’s like I’m getting to know the other brothers as another steps into the spotlight to get his happy ever after. It’s getting to feel like family yet this story is completely a standalone read. That’s an amazing feat and a terrific bit of writing – to make a reader happy with the complete story of one brother while acknowledging the presence and slow development of the others as secondary characters, yet insuring a reader never feels lost or that something is missing. And, I’m absolutely chomping at the bit to read more. If the other books are as good as this one and the one before, I think I just found a new series to fall in love with.

As I alluded to in the first paragraph, there is some gripping and entertaining suspense and drama that kept me flipping the pages. The writing was tight where it needed to be to make the most impact. The dialogue was well placed, paced and fascinating and really allows a reader to get a feel for the hero and heroine and their relationship to each other. Secondary characters, friend and foe alike were well placed and effective. Those I was supposed to like, I did and those that I was supposed to be suspicious of or to actively dislike, I did that too. All thanks to the Ms. Spear’s notable writing skills.

Winning the Highlander’s Heart embraces all the best parts of storytelling that I’ve come to associate with the talented Ms. Spear. She has created characters that I enjoy getting to know, a story that has merit and grabs the attention, and a happy ever after that satisfies the romantic inside me. When Anice and Malcolm get together it’s steamy good and very well written. Overall, this book is very entertaining. What a great way to spend an afternoon – with a good book that delivers what a romance reader wants. I had fun.

It’s her wedding day and there is no groom in sight. But why should Amelia Brice be surprised? Hiram, Lord Friar is known for having no gentleman’s honor to speak of and his jilting her on their wedding day makes it official.

Elijah Banks cannot allow his childhood friend to continue to be shamed this way. It’s more than an hour past the time the wedding was to start, and that bounder still hasn’t shown up. Unable to sit still a second longer, Elijah does the only thing that seems logical from where he stands: kidnap the bride and take her to Gretna Green in order to escape this scandal with one far more forgiving for a young lady’s reputation.

So then why does his new bride seem angry with him and rebuff his advances?

Try as she might, she cannot find the words to tell him of her situation and ruin the good fortune that has befallen her, but neither can she keep the truth from him.

But when Lord Friar threatens to reveal her secret, it’s up to Elijah to save her from public humiliation once more by revealing a few of his own…

Lady Amelia Brice: jilted. Is this just par for the course? In this magical nineteenth century romance, lovely Amelia seems to have less than the best of luck with the opposite sex, starting off with the neighbor’s son… and on to the intended and rather more charming scoundrel. However, Gordon allows nothing so predictable to happen as we might be thinking. The perfectly charming (okay, so Elijah isn’t ‘perfectly charming,’ but we readers do like him) will smack right up against the scoundrel in this one – with a lot of surprising interactions.

Poor Amelia is dropped straight into a deceitful quandary…in an almost-unbelievable situation, which we have no trouble at all in believing. The wonderful quality to this writing is that it simply takes you there; conversations are so real you’ll think you overheard them, descriptions sufficient to let you see it all in mind’s eye, the intrigue enough to make you curious – but none if it distracts from the romance! Amelia is caught off-guard, and with no recollection of certain specific events, is left in a highly tricky situation. Honesty, does not in this case seem the best policy, to her or to us!

Elijah seems to have a gift for treating her poorly, even when he intends otherwise. His behavior -and regrets – are also easy to sympathize with, however. He’s not the wit that Henry is, but we see his feelings are genuine. Still, things go wrong … and for those that have known one another since childhood, some old feelings and resentments, some attitudes of mind, simply cannot be forgot. Perhaps, they can be forgiven? Or, will time reveal them as something other than we imagined? The interactions of all the cast here is absolutely engrossing. Lovely and thoroughly enjoyable historical romance: His Jilted Bride is all it promises.

At last, Diana gets a romance of her own! But with the last man anyone in Spindle Cove expects…

Beautiful and elegant, Miss Diana Highwood is destined to marry a wealthy, well-placed nobleman. At least, that’s what her mother has loudly declared to everyone in Spindle Cove.

But Diana’s not excited by dukes and lords. The only man who makes her heart pound is the village blacksmith, Aaron Dawes. By birth and fortune, they couldn’t be more wrong for each other…but during stolen, steamy moments in his forge, his strong hands feel so right.

Is their love forged strong enough to last, or are they just playing with fire?

My funny bone got quite a workout with this story. To say that the author surprised me is an understatement because there is no way I could have foreseen how the little mystery included in this tale would be solved.

I enjoy reading about a character that blossoms before my very eyes. I like seeing challenges and setbacks be overcome, I like seeing the depth of a protagonist’s personality revealed. Furthermore, I appreciate it more when there is humor to lighten the load. The heroine, Diana, experiences so many things during the course of this novella, the story had no problems keeping my interest all the way through.

Diana lived her life with the haunting restrictions of asthma but the book puts the reader in the middle of the time when she realizes the chains of asthma are broken. What happens next is gratifying, eventful and very entertaining.

Aaron is the burly and muscular blacksmith that makes Diana’s heart go all aflutter. After reading the descriptions that Ms. Dare used to describe him, even I got all flustered. It made me want to go and find my own handsome, sweaty man to ogle. The closest I’ll get is a construction worker, if I’m lucky. The best part about the hero is that he’s not all brawn; he has a brain filled with talent and tender emotions that get showcased whenever Diana is near or on his mind. His craft plays a major role in the story.

Diana and Aaron are very good together and I enjoyed their dialogue and how their heart to heart talks always lead them in places they never expected to go. I enjoyed where they ended up.

Secondary characters weren’t overly developed. They were there to move the plot forward and to prod either Diana or Aaron to say or do certain things. Only Charlotte showed some life and fire which intrigued me. Then again, she’s Diana’s sister so that family connection was important. In fact, I know that Diana said that Charlotte sleeps like a log but I seriously doubt anyone could sleep through what Charlotte did. Can people be that dead to the world? That completely?

What isn’t dead is physical love. In this story, it’s tantalizingly vivid, passionate and very well written. Even during a moment when it’s all serious intent, the author interjected a spot of humor. I liked that.

The great chase scene was hysterical and right smack in the middle of that chaos came the best part in the whole book. Awesome writing.

Beauty and the Blacksmith is delightful, funny, sexy and a book that is almost impossible to put down. The writing is so well done that it flowed smoothly and quickly. The characters didn’t suffer false posturing which is a breath of fresh air for readers who are tired of fabricated internal angst. This tale is a must read for any reader looking for something to turn that frown right side round. It’s wonderful, entertaining and I’m very happy I read it.

At least it was a secret. Not anymore, thanks to an ex’s blabbing. Now she’s been branded with a potentially career-ending label: Ice Queen.

Bella Jackson has never been so nervous stepping out onto the catwalk. After a very public – and very bitter – break up with her boyfriend, the media has gone wild over Ice Queen and Frigid claims the jerk had made about her. Bella was far from a prude, but had merely been so caught up in her career since her early teens much of the normal aspects of a sensual relationship had passed her by. Her old “bad-girl” reputation hid the career-minded model, who found herself still a virgin at twenty six.

A pair of green eyes and a wicked, masculine smile almost drags Bella out of her runway walk – and her body reacts fiercer than she’d ever believed possible. Jake Barton – dragged to the show by his sister, Lise – can’t believe the power of his instant reaction to Bella. Sparks fly between them, and when they keep on meeting, show after show, their hunger for each other continues to grow.

I really enjoyed the slower pace of romance this novel. While a few aspects of the plot felt clichéd to me, this is a well-written, sensual novel that left me eagerly turning the pages. This wasn’t one of those “their eyes met and they fell into bed” tale. The author kept the heat simmering, but I thought the pace was far more realistic than many spicy stories. Both Bella and Jake were well-rounded characters who knew exactly what they wanted and weren’t shy going about getting it. Add in some cowboy tricks, the ever-present media nosiness and a few good laughs and this was a heart-warming story that kept me interested from start to finish. I really enjoyed it.

But when Irene crashes her car in Sam’s front yard and gets a nasty bump to the head, she’s forced to spend the night at Aggie and Sam’s. The truth of her relationship falling apart comes out, and so much more.

This is a delightfully complex book. Irene and Aggie are in their sixties – but that certainly doesn’t slow them down. Irene is an ex-cop now turned PI and the deeper into the plot I read the more she surprised me. I thoroughly enjoyed learning all the twists and turns the author embellished into the story. While I never did realize quite why Irene was so reticent in discussing recent happenings in her life with Aggie—and found it mildly frustrating that Aggie had to all but pull answers from Irene—the reward of the intricacies of the plot were well worth it. About half way through the book the pace really picks up and I thought the author came into her own. The characters were well-rounded, the plot outrageously fun and the pace of the action started racing ahead.

A fun, highly different read, this is a wonderful book filled with surprises. I found it to be well paced from the middle onwards and greatly enjoyed it. The romance is sensual – hot, but not explicit enough you can’t share it with a friend or family member – and the plot is solid, deeply formed and certainly enough to sink your teeth into. While the start is a bit spotty in places I found this to be a great read and wonderful book.

Lifting the veil of secrecy on a grand Southern family in decline, New York Times bestselling author Tanya Anne Crosby explores the lives of Caroline, Augusta, and Savannah Aldridge, three sisters who share a dark past and an uncertain future…

Evidently the newspaper heiress who had caused her children so much pain was well-loved by everyone else in Charleston. Now she was gone, leaving behind countless secrets-and a few demands: Caroline and her sisters must live together for one year or lose their inheritance. And Caroline must take over The Tribune. With Jack back in her life and the tattered bonds of sisterhood slowly mending, Caroline hopes the family can restore its position in Charleston society-unless a sinister force beyond their control tears them apart forever…

Speak No Evil is a book that’ll keep you guessing right up to the very end.

It doesn’t start with a bang, though, so don’t expect edge of your seat action from page one. There’s a lot of introspection here, from the three sisters Caroline, Savannah and Augusta because of their mother’s death and the specifications of her will. It also occasionally reads like a police procedural when we’re in Jack’s point of view as we watch him try to piece together the details of what may be a serial killer’s crimes.

Hang in there, though, because once things start moving, they don’t stop. Clues are dropped here and there, Caroline and her newsy friends are investigating on one end, Jack on the other (which sometimes causes a bit of friction), and you’ll spend a good deal of the second half of the book wondering who the bad guy is.

The author has a talented hand at description. Once, the killer says this about himself: “He had to unzip his skull and let out a little crazy–enough to function without suspicion.” I loved the picture that painted…

And, though this book wraps up one mystery, another is introduced. I expect the author is planning a novel for each of the sisters … and I’ll be happy to read every one.

If you like plenty of story and characterization with your suspense, as well as a touch of romance, I recommend Speak No Evil.

The unshakable mindset and guilt feelings that drive Cameron Shaw’s decisions in The Right Bride create conflicts that threaten to destroy the lives and happiness of the most important people in his life. Through much of the story, I want to give him a good thumping and tell him to get his head out of the sand, wake up, and get his priorities straight. When his actions began to make his vivacious little five-year-old daughter Emma unhappy, I really got out of humor with him. To be so smart in some ways and so “dumb” in other ways was astounding. As is evident, Jennifer Ryan did a super job of engaging my emotions and keeping me turning pages.

Marti (Martina Fairchild) grabbed my attention in a very different way. Her caring, insightful nature; her ability to see and act on what is truly important in life makes her special; while her aloneness touches a tender spot in one’s heart. How she relates to others and copes with difficult situations reveal a multitude of facets in her personality. The layers of her life and her unsung accomplishments that come to light as the story unfolds are more reasons to keep turning pages. She is an intriguing character.

The beautiful, husband-hunting Shelly Ramsey is a different sort, but she knows how to appeal to a man. After an unhappy childhood, she remodeled herself and is now physically lovely, well-spoken, a great sex partner, nice to her ‘prey’ but not always to others. Her single-minded pursuit of wealth and position (AKA a rich husband) stirs up conflicts galore. Her ability to make herself look good in these upheavals is amazing.

The secondary characters are a super group of ‘doers’. They do their share of stirring up conflicts. George Knight is a prime example. Even though he is dying, he makes his mark on the outcome of the story. His love for Cameron and Emma is longstanding. However, the love he feels for Marti is like a kindred soul love that is strong and caring. Elizabeth and Sam, Jenna and Jack, and Jimmy, Cameron’s driver and after-school companion for Emma are genuine friends that support, berate, and do whatever it takes to help their old friend Cameron find his way and to shepherd Marti into the fold and love her for who she is.

The living arrangements in George Knight’s mansion, after his death, seem contrived. But it does position the primary characters for the climax that is a heart-stopper momentarily then sets the emotions jangling. Also, Cameron’s clinging to his past for so long seems a little extreme, but it makes for a breath-holding read. The Right Bride raises ire, brings laughter, tears, fears, and joy. It is an attention holding happy-ever-after. It does take the mind off the “slings and arrows” of a trying day.

This second installment in the Faces of Death series kicks off with a bang. Picking up only hours after Obsession ended, Impulse keeps the rapid pace set in the first novel and then ratchets it up. As much as I enjoyed Obsession, this second novel was even better.

Jess Harris has been through hell and back lately and it’s only about to get worse. Being targeted by a suspected serial killer can’t be fun. I do have to say that her character was much more approachable in this installment and I really grew to sympathize with her, which was a good thing. She did what she had to still, but came across as much more relatable this time around.

Dan Burnett, Birmingham Police Chief, has only one concern and that is keeping Jess safe. Even when it antagonizes her to no end, he still puts her safety before his own. I like Dan a lot and really enjoyed the brief bit of relationship development you get between them. I really hope that they work on it more throughout the next few novels as they make a great couple. Each is strong and independent, capable of being on their own, but they each also have their own little weaknesses that the other needs to attend to.

Oddly enough, I think my favorite character in this novel was the bad guy – The Player. Sophisticated, reserved, and thoroughly evil, he fascinated me and, to a point, charmed me. He is definitely the character I want to know more about, especially his motive in doing what he does.

Impulse was a wild ride of twists and unexpected turns that kept me reading long after I knew I should have stopped. Although part of the ending was a touch predictable, I understand why it went the way it did. Despite that, this was a highly enjoyable, completely engaging thriller that thrilled me to my toes. Highly recommended to any lover of intense, sometimes graphic thrillers.

The Faces of Evil Series: Book 1 She thought she’d left the murders-and his obsession-behind . . .

Special Agent Jess Harris has spent more than a decade studying the many faces of evil. In her determination to stop a serial killer, she broke the rules, and it cost her everything. With her career in need of resuscitation and her love life dead and buried, Jess jumps at a chance to advise on a case that has the top detectives of Birmingham, Alabama, stumped. But the case forces her to confront all the reasons she put her hometown-and her first love-in her rearview mirror.

Four young women have gone missing, and Police Chief Dan Burnett will do anything to find them before it’s too late-even if it means asking for help from the woman who has spent a decade avoiding him. Jess agrees to lend a hand and welcomes the diversion of a new case, a new life to save to make up for the victims she’s lost. But then the unthinkable happens: the crazed serial killer from her past follows Jess to Birmingham. The situation is becoming increasingly desperate-and time is swiftly running out . . .

Special Agent Jess Harris isn’t having the best week. Staring at the inevitable loss of her job and the humiliation of having screwed up in a big way, she figures helping out her one-time boyfriend with a case couldn’t do her any more harm than she’d already done herself. What she doesn’t expect, however, is that the crazed serial killer that had cost her job is about to find her.

Jess Harris is a tough character to get to like. She’s strong, independent, and spunky, but she’s also had a huge blow to her ego as well as her confidence. It’s this last part that makes her a bit unlikable in the beginning. She’s so determined to do everything on her own and in her own way that she doesn’t care whose toes she might step on. Thankfully, as she becomes more a part of the group and less the outsider, she loosens up a little bit. That said, once she lets the petty things go, she becomes a virtual force of nature in profiling the kidnapper of the missing women. She’s bright, she’s sharp, and she’s very, very good at her job. I think I liked her more in her obsessive agent mode than when she was just simply Jess. I’m looking forward to seeing more character growth with her in the next novel because she has the potential to be a great person to know.

Police Chief Dan Burnett is Jess Harris’ complete opposite. Warm and friendly and so very southern from the get-go, he’s a very likable character, even though he does have his moments. In a sense, he’s in a similar situation as Jess. These missing women have him stumped and his department has little to no evidence tying anyone to the crime. At times, he lets his pride get in the way, but for all intents and purposes, he admits to it and moves on much more quickly than Jess does. However, because of this, the two of them are very dynamic as a couple – both romantic and as investigating partners. Their tendency to butt heads a bit before compromising holds a lot of promise for romantic sparks later on.

Obsession is a joyride of emotions from the very first page. Between the main story of the missing women and the backstory involving the serial killer that Jess had been attempting to arrest, there is constantly something happening to keep you on your toes. The author’s style and the whirlwind of events in the story made this a fast read for me and the shocking conclusion has left me eager for the sequel.
