A stolen kiss from a stranger…

As if from a dream, Lady Gabrielle walked from the mist and into Viscount Brentwood’s arms. Within moments, he’s embroiled in more scandal than he ever thought possible…

Can sink even a perfect gentleman…

Beautiful, clever, and courageous, Lady Gabrielle needs Brent’s help to get out of a seriously bad situation. But the more she gets to know him, the worse she feels about ruining his life…

Enter the unforgettable world of Amelia Grey’s sparkling Regency London, where a single encounter may have devastating consequences for a gentleman and a lady…

The words funny and charming, sensual and compelling could describe this story. Amelia Grey has created characters with depth who interact in entertaining ways. A Gentleman Never Tells is a delightful Regency-era romance.

Gabrielle, a once obedient Duke’s daughter, sees something that drags her from her proper ways. She does a shocking thing in a park, starting the novel off with a surprise. The reckless thing she does changes the life of an innocent man, a Viscount.

Don’t feel bad for the Viscount though, great guy that he is, even though trouble follows him around since meeting Gabrielle. After his encounter with her, his heart is never the same.

Witty dialogue and humorous dog adventures give this book a slightly funny tone under the romantic one. Secondary characters add an interesting touch to the story. Some are truly unlikeable characters who fortunately didn’t have too much space on the pages, like Gabrielle’s completely selfish, self-absorbed sister Rosa. What a wretched person.

The main character though, the Viscount, is so thoroughly likeable that he’s perfect for the warm-hearted Gabrielle. They are great together, despite the things that she does.

Marriage, infidelity, and sisterly relationships come into play, their themes adding meaning and perspective. Wonderful sensual moments are weaved throughout the story and are just perfect.

As likeable as Gabrielle is, at times, she is a bit hypocritical, like when she uses her antics (which are admittedly humorous) to dissuade the Viscount from wanting her and yet she always seems to be looking her best. She thinks he doesn’t want to marry her and is being forced to. However, he is constantly warm toward her and wants to kiss her. Are those the actions of a man who feels trapped?

Despite this, the book is delightful. The ending is charming and unforgettable. Amelia Grey can write a great tale. Regency fans should check this one out.

Zetithians have a feline gene that gives the males remarkable sexual prowess. Refugee Dax is no exception—but as a virgin, he has no idea how to use it. His fumbling attempts at romance fail to tempt the beautiful Ava, but he is determined to learn the art of love. Let the seduction begin…

Virgin blew me away with its entertaining story line, exciting possibilities and more purr-fectly charming Zetithians for fans to swoon over. Ms. Brooks might have heard me squealing in delight when I found out that Virgin is a continuation of the series that I fell in love with. I’m pretty sure I was that loud in my excitement. This is most definitely a standalone read because it picks up with one of the survivors of that ship at the end of Hero. I met a lot of new and fascinating characters and I commend the author and her creative talents.

What am I referring to? Every time the author introduces a new character, he or she appears so naturally and provides ample opportunities for the hero and heroine through their interactions with them to grow, and for the plot to move forward. Another thing with Ms. Brooks’ writing is her sense of humor. If her characters can pull off a joke or pun or have dialogue scenes with witticisms that make a reader roll on the floor, the author finds every one of them and uses them to perfection. In this latest book, her sense of fun and the ridiculous is as sharp as ever. All someone has to do is mention Ms. Brooks’ name and I break out into a grin.

When the book starts, a reader meets the heroine, Ava, first. I got the biggest kick out of her but don’t let her anywhere near your frying pans. She’s a woman with smokin’ hot passions and I’m not talking about her cooking. She’s courageous, clever, quick on her feet and even more alien than the past heroines in the series. I am in love with her hair. Kudos to the author for making something so ordinary into the most amusing, unique and captivating feature a heroine has ever had. It is a brilliant stroke of genius and is another testimony to Ms. Brooks’ vivid imagination.

Dax is one of the newly found Zetithians and he’s so dreamy. I really enjoyed reading about his falling in love and how he goes about it. So with the help of this super viagra active men are in the capacity to purchase it. It’s not perfect and that made it all the more special. I also enjoyed the role he ends up playing. It was sort of mystical and very heroic. What makes it even better? He wasn’t doing it for the glory but something a lot more basic and romantic, love. My favorite description of him comes from Ava: “He was a big purring kitten of a man…” How can a reader not fall in love with him too?

I had an absolute blast with the secondary characters. Waroun constantly gave me the giggles, Kots was creepy and totally cool, Threldigan is a character I’d love to know more about, and Quinn was a character with a surprising bit of depth, after he took a bath.

Remember I mentioned fun dialogue? This line had me in stitches and is just a small example of the fun that is in store for readers throughout the entire book. “…you want to get dinner over with so you can get back to the ship and play snuggle bunnies with Super Kitten.” There are so many moments of wonderful repartee between Dax, Ava and the other characters that it made reading this story a breeze. I never knew who was going to say what and it guaranteed my absolute focus on the story. I didn’t want to miss a thing.

I’d be remiss if I didn’t tease readers with the hot factor in the book. Yes, the powerful snard is back but I also think the author challenged herself a bit with some of the physical relationship scenes this time around. It’s really eyebrow raising and quite erotic and yet even in the midst of all those increased pheromones, some scenes get tickled with the brush of humor to an enjoyable degree. I loved it!

It’s not all purrs, bites and sex in trees; there are some seriously nasty villains chasing Dax and Ava. At one point I thought there was one group but as I read I figured out that there were two factions chasing my new favorite hero and heroine and I didn’t know which group was worse and who was going to get to them first. It was a great bit of writing because it kept me on the edge of my seat. I liked the idea that things the main characters thought they knew were actually mistruths and the revelations were gripping. The confrontation was full of action and crisp writing and I felt like I was right in the thick of it. It’s another strong point in this book’s favor.

Virgin is high caliber entertainment from beginning to end – it hit all my happy buttons and I couldn’t put it down. I continue to be amazed as to the quality and vibrant imagery painted within its pages, whether it be flora, fauna or characters. Ms. Brooks has consistently written well thought out intricate stories that amuse and entertain and Virgin continues the trend. It’s been an awesome reading experience and I am so glad the author has more coming out. I simply can’t get enough of that snard!

I love the fact that she steps outside her comfort zone, no matter how freaked out it makes her, and takes a chance to gain the affection of a boy who was once her best friend and now, possibly more. And while she does make mistakes, they’re always because she had someone else’s best interests at heart. Erin is definitely the kind of kid I’d want to be friends with.

The Secret Society of the Pink Crystal Ball is a wonderfully written story of love, friendship, and wishes that really do come true. Written in a style that makes me think of chick lit for teens, Ms. Green is a master at the art of making you laugh out loud. She knows just how to weave a sense of mystery into an otherwise regular story, adding just a bit of something exciting to keep you reading and wanting more. A sure fire hit with any teen girl or any mom who once was a teen and is now raising one of her own.

Darina’s only chance for immortal love is to sacrifice everything for an enemy…

Darina has always loathed prickly, arrogant Arizona but after weeks with no sign of the Beautiful Dead, Darina is willing to put up with anything if it means seeing her undead boyfriend, Phoenix. With less than two months before Arizona’s time is up, Hunter returns with the Beautiful Dead and demands that Darina live up to her promise to help them.

When you read a fantastic start to a series, you can’t help but anticipate the next installment. Thus is the case with The Beautiful Dead. When I read Beautiful Dead: Jonas I was captivated. I told everyone I knew about the book and couldn’t stop gushing about it. So when I finally received Beautiful Dead: Arizona, my one hope was that I at least came close in my enjoyment of the first. Not only did it do that, but the second book, to my delight, was even better.

In this, our heroine and the voice of the story, Darina must uncover the mystery behind Arizona’s death. It’s been nearly a year, and time is running out. As revenants, zombies, and those given one chance to get out of limbo, Arizona must find out what happened to her or face an eternity in flux. Darina helps, although she’s never cared for Arizona, because of her abiding love for Phoenix; her boyfriend and a member of the Beautiful Dead following his death months before. In order to maintain contact with her beloved, she must assist those who died from her high school. Meaning that after Arizona’s mystery is solved it is then Summer’s turn, and then Phoenix’s.

As with Jonas, I couldn’t put this book down. I love the voice of the author and her style of writing. But when the passion is over, there will come a tadalafil purchase long period of suffering. Such advice puts viagra generico 5mg your child at risk for many of the same problems seen in babies born to women with diabetes during pregnancy. The mystery of what occurred with Arizona is compacted by a multitude of different things, and Arizona isn’t talking, which means Darina’s job is even harder than before. As Darina enters into dangerous situations, her importance to the Beautiful Dead truly comes into focus. This, I felt, was important as it revealed just how much they need her. Even the head honcho, Hunter, finally accepts what she means to the salvation of those who have turned to her for assistance.

I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the one thing that pulls me back to the series and will continue to do so until the end — the complex and heartbreaking relationship between Phoenix and Darina. Theirs is a love affair that is doomed to end tragically. You know it, are fully cognizant of it, but in some macabre way have to know how it ends. With only two books left, I know the answer is coming soon. I just hope that author, Eden Maguire finds some way to mend my heart after she’s broken it.

A definite must read and another Best Book, I loved The Beautiful Dead: Arizona. I recommend this story to a 14+ audience as well as for adults. If you’ve not experienced this phenomenal series, do yourself a favor and purchase a copy. I eagerly await the next, Beautiful Dead: Summer.

What is the soundtrack of your life?

After living in twelve places in eight years, Calle Smith finds herself in Andreas Bay, California, at the start of ninth grade. Another new home, another new school…Calle knows better than to put down roots. Her song journal keeps her moving to her own soundtrack, bouncing through a world best kept at a distance.

Yet before she knows it, friends creep in—as does an unlikely boy with a secret. Calle is torn over what may be her first chance at love. With all that she’s hiding and all that she wants, can she find something lasting beyond music? And will she ever discover why she and her mother have been running in the first place?

Why won’t her mother talk about her natural father? She was a baby when he left, so she can understand hard feelings. But why would she refuse totally?

Ms. Culbertson does an excellent job of depicting what teenage life is like. Some have strange hair, some wear certain types of clothing, some talk a lot, some say nothing, and Calle is in the “some say nothing” group.

She has been moving around her whole life and she’s learned to just be a wallflower and hang out in the background rather than get involved, because as soon as her Mom breaks up with her latest new man, they’ll be on the move again.

My first year at high school was my first time in public school; I had gone to a parochial school and wore uniforms for the first eight years. I know just how Calle felt when she entered this new high school. The author expresses the feelings very well, but doesn’t make you feel sorry for her character.

The story has a very ironic ending; one I never saw coming. This is an excellent read for young adults who may be experiencing their own problems fitting in at a new school or who could use some guidance on why a student may be acting in a certain way. It’s not just what’s happening in school, there are also outside influences.

This story is a compelling read with a fairly complex plot that flowed well and kept my attention, so I have rated four suns.

Uncle Silas has always been greedy, evil, insulting, and extremely rich! But a dying uncle with a vast fortune is definitely one worth getting to know. Even if it means spending 2 months on his secluded island home with a houseful of suspicious servants and a hungry pet crocodile.

But what is Uncle Silas really up to? Will Adele, Milo, and Isabella outlive Uncle Silas to inherit his money? And just who is that mysterious “guest” in his basement? Is it worth the money (or their lives) to stick around and find out?

Does your Uncle have a pet alligator? None of mine did, either.

This is the story of three young cousins who live in poor households and have worries about their futures. Dear old Uncle Silas has tons of money and has invited them all to come and visit. He’s near death, perhaps they might be lucky enough to become his heirs!

This is a wickedly funny story. It reminds me of the Lemoney Snickett series, but I enjoyed this book much more.

The three cousins come from diverse backgrounds, and have the very human characteristics of greed, fear, distrust and selfishness — they aren’t perfect, and it makes for a thoroughly enjoyable read. They don’t know each other, and it’s not just their Uncle who’s evil.

Uncle Silas reeks of evil. He’s nice, but they know it’s just an act. He has plans for them alright, but not necessarily as his heirs. He’s ready to sic the alligator on them if they don’t do as he asks. After all, Uncle Silas has the ultimate power and authority in his home and he plans to get his way.

There are multiple adventures for the three cousins, most fraught with danger. They have no allies, so must depend on each other (which doesn’t always work out well), and they have to watch for the alligator crawling the hallways and coming out of “forbidden” rooms.

Can they band together enough to beat Uncle Silas at his own game? Just exactly what does he want them for anyway?

If you love clever fiction, get a copy of this incredibly fun book and follow along on their adventures. You’ll enjoy it. And, good news: There’s an epilogue at the end of the book that suggests there will be more coming in this series. That makes me happy. I’d like to see where the author goes from here with this story.

Raised on earth, Micayla is the last living Zetithian female. Typical of her species, she’s aloof and uninterested in men—until she meets Trag, the Zetithian pilot for an intergalactic arms dealer and the sexiest, most irksome man she’s ever met. Trag has sworn he’ll never marry, unless he can find a Zetithian woman. Considering the odds, it’s a safe bet, until he encounters Micayla. Fighting the enemies who are determined to wipe out the Zetithian race may be easier than convincing these hardheaded lovers that they were made for each other…

How do you know that you are falling in love when you don’t even understand what you are? Take two aliens from a destroyed planet with unknown mating rituals and watch what happens when they get together. It’s a comical challenge because they have absolutely no idea what’s going on.

This is the story of Trag. Even if a reader has never read any of the other stories in the Cat Star Chronicles or the one about his brother, Tychar, in Rogue, this book stands alone just fine. The only reason I’d recommend reading Tychar’s story is to understand the depths of loneliness that Trag endures. For this reason especially, Hero already has a certain warm spot in my heart.

Micayla is away from Earth for the first time. She doesn’t understand why her libido is dormant. She is just not interested in guys the way her friends are. She is awfully good at her job, however, and she takes pride in her efficiency. Sure, she’s often wondered why she looks a little different than her step-mom, but she had a great time growing up and she knows she’s loved. But something never felt quite right. Until one day the sighting of the back of a mysterious man sets her pulse pounding. How odd is that? For Micayla, very odd, and it’s the beginning of her journey to finding out about herself and what makes a man interesting to her. Too bad when she finally meets him, she reacts to him with a vengeance. And not in a nice way. Personally, I found it very funny. His reaction is just as interesting because he’s perplexed, affronted and not a little bit hurt.

I liked Micayla. She’s clever, thinks well on her feet and when she calls someone friend, she stands by them.

Trag is a man who, by the choice of his friends, is termed an outlaw. He’s not really, but to certain planets he’s classified as one. So he has to be careful. He seeks solace from paid women, who never charge him because of his ‘talents’. Believe it or not, it’s a good thing he does, because it plays a key role later in the book. He’s a lonely man who has pretty much insured he’ll never get his own happily ever after because he wants what he can’t have – a Zetithian woman. The planet was destroyed with all souls lost and that’s pretty much how Trag feels – lost. There is a lot of heartfelt emotion in this story because of it. I wanted Trag to be happy especially when he’s surrounded by all his brethren, the last remaining Zetithians. Of them, he is the only one unmated, left out. The author did a wonderful job in reaching that part of me that wants to reach out and hug him.

Ms. Brooks was brilliant in her choice of conflict. Micayla and Trag both want one another but the mixed signals, the confusion, the hurt feelings stemming from so many unknowns about their innate instincts have them running around in circles. Compound the situation with mistakes and making erroneous assumptions and I wondered how in the world they’d come to realize they were falling in love. Some of their reactions and dialogue were hysterically funny, some were annoying and some just broke my heart.

If that conflict isn’t enough, readers finally find out who blew up the Zetithian home world in the first place. This is a major revelation with lots of intrigue, power plays and dastardly doings. The reason for it all only makes sense if the villain is crazy – which I think to be the truth. But the villain is crazy genius which makes it all the worse.

Secondary characters abound throughout the book. Many are ones that I’ve met previously in the series and a few are new. Honestly, this book was like a major homecoming with all the threads of their lives coming together to make a perfect romance tapestry. Hidar makes me giggle, Jack is still like Han Solo on estrogen, Lerotan looks like he might be serious about a single female, which was a shock, I got to visit Darconia again and those frisky guards which made me laugh, and I loved the part when Micayla threatened to tear off someone’s hairy donkey… well, I’ll let fellow readers laugh over that part. All in all, I’m simply amazed at the variety of people and the well-developed community they populate.

The dialogue is truly inspired at times throughout Hero. It was brisk, energetic, thought-provoking, true to character and had perfect comedic timing. I really got a feel for their personalities, their feelings and the ambience of the moment.

Hero is the best feel good story of the series, highlighted with sexual kick and a romance reminiscent of Tracy and Hepburn. The sparks flew and the pages flipped as I read at a furious clip. Hero joins a special club of keepers; books I will read again and again because the story is that well-written and the characters so well-loved. Cheryl Brooks is a consistent writer of quality romance with humor, heat and of characters that live on even after a reader has turned the last page. And that last page delivers a doozy of a final revelation. What fun!

Suddenly, all the horses are talking—to Pia! Now she can understand Drummer, and does he have a lot to say! Who knew this sweet-looking horse would have such an attitude. When news of Pia’s pony-whispering power spreads, her popularity grows and she finally feels like she belongs…that’s when everything starts to go wrong.

Horse lovers of all ages will find The Pony Whisperer enchanting. The tale of young Pia and her clever pony, Drummer, develops with pretty ordinary challenge initially: it is easy to relate to Pia’s efforts to make friends in a new place, struggle with the changing relationships with her newly divorced parents, and meet that first potential boyfriend.

Drummer has challenges too. He wants to put a good hoof forward and impress that lovely Bambi mare stabled next to him… and suddenly, Pia gains the skill to understand Drummer, and hear his (often insightful) comments. Implausible though it sounds, from his first complaints, I couldn’t wait to hear what Drummer would say next – as well as all the other ponies in the yard.

Pia is a thoroughly admirable main character. She is full of concern for others; she often places a pony’s good over looking foolish herself. The attention her skill brings her can be vastly more negative than she ever expects. Can she keep using her skill for good, or is it only ever going to drive her further from the people that matter most?

The stable, fields, riding, and the assorted ponies with their various issues are wonderfully and realistically presented. Real riding problems, issues with tack, even equine illness all play a role. The story will delight any young rider, or would-be rider. Who doesn’t imagine they understand just what their horse wants — or wishes they could? I cannot wait for Ms. Rising’s next book: The Pony Whisperer Team Challenge. This is easily the best YA book I have read this year, and likely the best overall.

But living a lie is sometimes too much to handle, even if you have the best intentions. Based on a true story, We Hear the Dead reveals how secrets and lies can sometimes lead you to what’s real and what’s right. What started out as a harmless prank soon became a way of life for Kate and Maggie. If I’d been in their shoes, I’m not sure if I would have been able to keep up the secret for as long as they did. I have to admit that this book took me quite a while to get through it. I’m not sure if it was because it was set back in the 1800s, or if it was because it was based on a true story, or if it was something altogether different, but I didn’t really connect with either of the main characters until the end of the story. When Maggie’s world was shattered at the end (I won’t give away why), that part gripped me and I did really get Maggie’s feelings.

The story was told in two viewpoints, but most of the chapters were from Maggie. I would like to have read more from Kate and gotten to know her better. She seemed to have more of a spark than Maggie and maybe I would have found her story more intriguing.

Even so, this was a good book and if you like historical fiction, then this story of deception and the faux paranormal might be right up your alley. I suggest you give it a try.

A ghost will find his way home.

Jennie Lovell’s life is the very picture of love and loss. First she is orphaned and forced to live at the mercy of her stingy, indifferent relatives. Then her fiancé falls on the battlefield, leaving her heartbroken and alone. Jennie struggles to pick up the pieces of her shattered life, but is haunted by a mysterious figure that refuses to let her bury the past.

When Jennie forms an unlikely alliance with a spirit photographer, she begins to uncover secrets about the man she thought she loved. With her sanity on edge and her life in the balance, can Jennie expose the chilling truth before someone—or something—stops her?

Against the brutal, vivid backdrop of the American Civil War, Adele Griffin and Lisa Brown have created a spellbinding mystery where the living cannot always be trusted and death is not always the end.

If your loved ones follow you even after they leave this world then what would you do? Luckily for me, I was able to have this question answered by one very awesome gal in Picture The Dead.

In this story we get to meet Jennie who has a special “connection” to the spirit world. I adored her character because she followed her heart. Now, like any other teenager, she had her weaker moments but I do believe that this is what makes her such a relatable character. Even though based in the Civil War era, the author really managed to show that connection between teenagers of then and now. The clothes, etc, may have changed but the feelings of indecisivness and not knowing who you are, or what to believe are still the same. The other characters in the book were wonderful also, they helped to complete this story in so many ways. It was an interesting and varied cast who really kept the shocks coming.

The storyline itself was wonderful. Even though I’m not a history buff I can tell that the author took the time to research and make the story believable. My only problem (which isn’t really a problem persay) is that I thought it would end differently. Let me elaborate on that…I didn’t mind the ending. It was quite refreshing to see a story that didn’t end like I thought it would, but I think some readers might be a bit suprised.

Overall, I thought Picture The Dead was an excellent read. If you enjoy a good paranormal with unexpected twists then you may want to try this one. I recommend it if you’re looking for something different in your YA paranormal reading!
