Eclipsed by darkness, the Romelands must face the ultimate quest. If they are forced toward the umbra peak, they will be completely obscured.

Symone struggles with her most challenging battles … the conflict within herself. Losing loved ones steals part of her soul. Despair has created a gaping hole where her heart should be. Symone doesn’t even recognize herself. She has to determine if this is the person she’s turned into, or if it is who she has always been.

But she’s not sure if she can have a relationship with him or where that could lead her. Embracing love could make her whole again, but it may also destroy her. Symone must travel through the opaque light in order to find where her destiny lies.

Symone’s family, Shiray and Syira, continue to fight in the feuds of their galaxy. Together they have to find the balance between compassion and sacrifice. Kadanans are being held captive, and they hold the fate of their world in their hands. They have only begun to understand the consequences of the devastating realities of war.

The enemy of my enemy is my friend, is the philosophy the Romelands now abide by. With chaos and turmoil at every corner, they may forget what is worth fighting for. The surge for power has erupted. Only the strongest race will be left standing.

This book is the last of a trilogy and is the culmination of action that occurred during the first two books – the end of a war that has been raging between two different worlds. While it would probably increase your enjoyment of the book to have read the previous two books, it’s not completely necessary.  There’s character development and responses between the characters from this book that starts in the previous books, but this one was still enjoyable and understandable as it stands.

I did not get as fully immersed in the story as I would have liked, but instead I felt more like I was on the outside looking in.  That’s a result of the story having too much “telling” and not enough “showing”. That said, I enjoyed the story itself and could definitely see this as a television show or movie. It reminded me in tone of some of the space operas I’ve enjoyed in the past.

The plot line was interesting and held my attention, even though I did not connect with the characters as much as I’d hoped—it would be interesting to this reader to go back and discover what the war was actually all about in the beginning.

Rora is the Pandora of Greek legend who released evil onto the world, but kept hopelessness from escaping. For centuries she protected The Box, but now Prometheus has appeared and issued a warning that Eris, goddess of discord, and Nemesis, god of revenge, have sent the infamous Gorgons after The Box. Seeing him again sets Rora’s emotions into a tailspin and dredges up memories of a painful and passionate past. The Titan and she share centuries of relationship baggage. And she loves him, but he’s never confessed to loving her. The tension is thick between them, the energy electric. In no time they’ve surrendered to their passion, but the arrival of the Gorgons puts them, The Box, and mankind in danger.

How much longer can Pandora bear the burden of The Box?

The story of Pandora and The Box is a familiar story from Greek mythology, but even if you haven’t read it, the history of Pandora, The Box, and Prometheus is explained very clearly. I was intrigued by the idea of Pandora living an endless life still bound to The Box. What would that kind of responsibility do to a person and the people they care about? I started reading eager to learn the answer.

Pandora, now known as Rora, has lived centuries protecting The Box from those who wish to harm humans, and now she has reached her breaking point. Prometheus is the only man Rora has ever loved, though their relationship has been tumultuous to say the least. Every time they’ve tried to make their relationship work, The Box and their history managed to drive them apart. It is a frustrating, never ending cycle, and it is easy to see why Rora is exhausted and practically ready to give up. Now Prometheus has learned of a new threat to Rora and The Box and once again they are drawn together. Rora has always loved Prometheus, but can she’s not sure he feels the same way. Does he come back for her, or The Box?

I do wish there had been more time for Rora and Prometheus to reconnect. While they have centuries of history, there weren’t many details provided to make it come alive. I truly wanted to feel the weight of Rora and Prometheus’ bond, but from the moment he walks through Rora’s door, everything happens so quickly that their relationship wasn’t as compelling as it could have been. I liked them, but when I finished reading I didn’t feel as if I truly knew them.

Prometheus makes some big decisions regarding his relationship with Rora and the path their future will take. While I have no doubt that these changes will be for the better, I was left wondering why now? This isn’t the first time they’ve found themselves in danger, so why the change or heart? Was it simply the right time, or something else? I just wish I could have had more insight into Promethus’ thought process.

Despite these issues, I had fun reading Pandora’s Passion. It is a quick, fast paced, entertaining short story that can easily be read in one sitting. I recommend this romance to anyone looking for a snapshot in the life of a passionate couple.

The eradication of life on earth by thought alone.

Are you equipped to face the unthinkable?

Would you like to read a book that not only entertains but causes you to rethink the human mind?

The SHIVA Syndrome is a read that draws the reader in from the first page. The story follows the nation’s top scientists as they research the devastating effects of the human mind gone awry. Beau Walker is a scientist with a secret, he is an extremely powerful empath and this research is right up his alley. As Beau and his team get closer to cracking the secret of what happened in Russia, they begin to realize that it is not too far out of the question that it can happen right in the United States.

The author lays out a solid storyline with strong characters and powerful backstories. As the story progresses, characters that blended into the background begin to take development and soon the reader is immersed in a world of espionage, secrets and lies. The descriptions, dialogue, and events portray the reality that this novel could be happening in reality right now. The research was strong and had a solid foundation leading the reader to understand that the author has immersed himself in research or has a background in the topics he is writing about.

I personally loved the deep descriptions of the medical/biological components of the story. It is evident that the author has a strong background in the sciences and this cannot go unnoticed by the reader. Nothing is left lacking and the story flows smoothly without feeling forced. I found myself having a difficult time putting the book down since once the excitement began, it would rarely even taper off. I also found myself drawn to the characters; following their lives and being drawn in by their stresses and theories. The suspense from the plot was one that resonates with the reader long after the book is put down for the evening.

I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a science fiction journey that is so well researched that it truly could be happening right now! This was one book that caused me to rethink what happens behind closed doors.

Moon, Mist and Magic is a collection of five stories of romance that stretch the borders of imagination and will cause the reader to dive into a world that movies can only attempt to replicate. The five stories have one common thread, they involve the paranormal and an element of romance. Each story is written by a different author, while they all are collected into one book they are not bound to one another by a common story line.

Personally I found the collection to be great; the condensed stories do not leave the reader lacking as they all find completion by the end. The detail for each story resonates strongly with the reader. Each story had a little to offer the reader in various ways, for example, A Ghost of a Chance looks at family secrets and family ties, which also resonates strongly with The Keeper which also pulls very strongly on family lineage and secrets that are held. Myths and Legends 101 can cause the reader to focus on their own perception of the world in which we reside in a more mundane sense while Dangerous Dreams and Witch You Were Here challenge the reader’s perception of the realized world that we tend to take for granted.

The editing was clean, the story lines were clear and character interaction and development-even for shorter stories was great. When I found one story was ending I was elated to begin the next story! Each author has a great skill at drawing the reader in and entertaining with an out-of-this-world story.

This was one collection of stories that you don’t want to miss! Do you want to know the best part? All of the proceeds are donated to the World Wildlife Fund so you can even feel better in supporting the purchase of the book by knowing you are supporting the world in which we all share!

I really enjoyed this delightful fantasy frolic.

Precious Cargo begins a promising new series by Sarah Marsh. The characters were amazing. The story starts out on earth where Alison Baker is a lonely woman who gets abducted from her home and then wakes up somewhere in a far away galaxy. The space pirates, or Wargs as they were called, intend to sell her as a pleasure slave but their luck runs out when they attack the trade ship of Clan Drogan. Conn, Tannen and Kal rescued Alison from the pirates and were surpised at how different she was from the females of their planet. They are relationship partners and soon they realize that Alison would be the perfect bond mate for them. The main problem being that they are already committed to another female back on their home planet.

This was a very entertaining and sexy story. It was fast paced and incredibly descriptive. Sarah Marsh painted a vivid picture of everyone and this helped to pull me into the story. I really liked the main characters and how sweet and protective that Conn, Tannen and Kal grew of Alison. I also enjoyed the hot menage sex scenes, of course.

Precious Cargo is the first book that I’ve read by Sarah Marsh. I was very impressed with her amazing writing and look forward to more fabulous books in this series.

7 stolen organs. 1 vengeful victim. A gruesome sci-fi thriller.

Organ scrubbing was a bloody job, but somebody had to do it. Daniel, an orphan from the Gutter, was put to work scrubbing kidneys at aged twelve. The job had its perks: a warm bed, Law and Order reruns, and an all-you-can-eat Mopane worm buffet.

Until the Orphanage stole Daniel’s parts, and sold them on the organ market.

Now Daniel has grown up, and yearns to become whole again. The cybernetic organ replacements just aren’t the same – he needs his parts back. But the new owners of his organs won’t give them up. Not without a fight.

Just how far will Daniel go to regain his missing pieces? And how much more of himself will he lose along the way?

Defragmenting Daniel is a cyberpunk crime thriller that will unnerve you. Every part of you.

Disturbing, intriguing, and well-written, Defragmenting Daniel is not a book for the faint of heart.

I wasn’t sure what to expect while reading this book. And while I did have to suspend reality a bit in order to believe that organ transplantation surgery could be done and the patient up and a around in a couple of hours with little pain or indication of major surgery, the ramifications and possibilities of this story were a bit terrifying.

The gutter is where Daniel is from and it’s not a nice place. The Orphanage where Daniel lives exacts payment for services by both making him work as an organ scrubber and by taking body parts and replacing them with cybernetic parts. The Bubble is where the beautiful people live. They are those privileged enough to be able to afford real organs to prolong life (the reference to Cher cracked me up!). When Daniel turns eighteen, he’s allowed to leave the orphanage, and a search for his biological family leads him to develop an interesting set of beliefs, which include the need to be once again whole … and so the search for his taken body parts begins.

The story moves fast and world-building is a bit vague, but it didn’t detract from my enjoyment of the story. Be warned, however, the story is bloody and violent and graphic and Daniel’s apparent disregard for humanity was a little difficult to handle. However, he is also oddly attractive and I found myself rooting for his cause, even while being rather disgusted by it.

Kage was an interesting addition as well. He (or she…) works for the police department and is determined to find the person behind a particularly gruesome murder. Apparently, s/he always gets his/her man.

The story surprised me by ending in a cliffhanger… Daniel has only just started his mission. That was frustrating, but I would certainly be interested in reading further to see how things end up for him. I’m still not sure if I want him to succeed or not. Honestly, my ambivalence is an indicator of the author’s skill. Being able to make Daniel sympathetic definitely takes some doing!

For what lies there whispering to be unearthed has the power to bring the world to its knees.

Join Ellie and Adam as they battle rivers of scorpions, plummeting waterfalls and pre-historic death traps on the journey to uncovering a deadly secret that could shake the fate of the world.

Are you ready for a grand adventure that has the flavor of an Indiana Jones tale? This one will do it for you but it would have to be Indiana Jane. Eleanor Mallory is everything that a woman of London in 1898 would not be. She’s independent, unmarried, and intelligent. She loves to learn and to explore and she manages to run across a real mystery with ties to Central America.

This story is a very exciting read with lots of action and two treacherous men after her. The author dishes out surprises, maintains the suspense from beginning to end, and makes you not want to put the book down.

When she finds there is someone after her and the map and piece of mask she has, she runs to her friend’s home. There, the lady loans her clothes, money and her name and ships her out the next day. She goes to her room at the hotel and decides to bathe. As she sits in the tub, she discovers there’s snake in there with her and she screams. That’s how she meets Adam. He busts down her door and grabs her snake. Right then and there she knows she doesn’t like him. He’s not the least embarrassed and she sure is!

The bad guys trace her even with the false name and come after her. She ends up asking Adam for help but doesn’t tell him the truth. Just offers to share the discovery with him. That costs her in the long run.

The story is violent in places but it’s just like in the movies, you just keep reading along to see the rest of the story. There are tests to be overcome, they’re almost killed several times, and you can’t foresee the next challenge or the end of the story. This is a really good action/adventure story with a side of romance thrown in. Give it a try; you won’t be disappointed.

It’s a diary from the Peabody Expedition in 1931 during which all was lost except two men and one of those had lost his mind. This diary tells him where the expedition was located. No one has found it since. He’s going to go to Eastern Antarctica to visit the Chthonic Dome…

You need an imagination to read this story. The main thrust of the story is a search for the unknown. Mr. McEwing is excellent at developing atmosphere. He talks about feeling the cold even though he’s reading the book in a warm room. He keeps seeing things that no one else does. If you don’t think watch it, you’ll be getting twitchy, too.

The first sign that all is not going well is when one of the men on the plane goes nuts. He ends up shooting several people, decompressing the plane, and then killing himself. Since they are all scientists or doctors, this is very unusual behavior. The worst part is that isn’t the last of it.

There’s all kinds of horror and terror yet to be built in the story. They are miles up from the actual site because there’s ice on top of it. One man runs off into the weather and ends up freezing to death. There’s living horror here even if you can’t see it.

This story is suspenseful, horrific, and makes you feel vulnerable even if you’re sitting in a chair in your nice warm home. Why would someone go adventuring in a land where the diary writer said was full of fear and danger? Read the story and you’ll find out.

Due to an act that saved his life, Scott was cursed with the alien named Water, who lives inside of his mind and can take over all functions of his being on occasion.

This was a phenomenal story in which two different species must work together to understand the other or risk losing everything in the mix. The author goes so much further than just addressing the opposite viewpoints of Scott and Water, he dives deep to look at the emotional impact of institutionalization for Scott due to Water’s presence, the disrupted family dynamic that Scott is forced into and the loss of family and even purpose for Water.

K. M. Tolan works through the separation of Scott and Water and presents both sides in such a remarkable way that the reader feels interwoven into the story. The feelings that Scott and Water feel, the internal and external struggles become so real to the reader that putting down the book is not an option. To right what was wronged so many years in the past, Scott and Water join forces to combat an evil that is ever present in our own world today.

Siren’s Song touches on so many relevant topics we face today both emotionally and morally; and the threads of the story are woven so strongly that that once you are done reading Siren’s Song, you just want to pick it up again and begin reading again! I must admit I have not read a book that resonated with me this well in a long time. I cannot wait to pick up another book by K.M. If you were to ask the characters in Book 8 of Celeste Prater’s series, Fueled by Lust, how they would describe themselves, I would imagine the above would be Sotarios’ response of himself. His previous mate, Maratinia, had been crazy jealous, homicidal, and abusive. Though their relationship only lasted a few brief months, it felt like he’d endured an eternity of hell. Even beyond the grave, she continued to torture his mind, heart, and soul. Believing he’s damaged beyond all repair, the last thing Sotarios wants is to find another mate. Little does he know, Maratinia isn’t done torturing him just yet.

Raine, on the other hand, would probably describe herself as being up crap creek with a tiny paddle. While her circumstances weren’t due to an abusive ex, she’d unfortunately become the responsible party for her father’s poor choices. After a tragic accident claimed her parent’s lives, the weight of paying off her father’s debts fell on her shoulders. However, Raine wasn’t one to cry over spilled milk. She was resourceful and used skills her father had taught her to tackle this big load as gracefully as she could. While she also wasn’t particularly looking for a new beau, she wouldn’t deny wishing she could find someone and have the relationship her parents did. Despite his poor judgement on business matters, her father had been a good man.

When a chance meeting in the most unlikely places brings Sotarios and Raine together, Sotarios can’t deny the lure of her essence and the attraction of their energies. Telling himself he’s merely concerned for her well being, he elicits the help of one of his warrior brothers, Geleon, and proceeds to follow her after work. Just to make sure she’s okay, of course. After all, she’s an attractive woman who shouldn’t be out after dark on her own. Telling himself he’ll just make sure she makes it home safe and will then move on with his life, he suddenly finds himself getting far too involved when her trip home takes an unexpected detour.

Raine can scarcely catch her breath when Sotarios breezes through the doors to the shop, along with his equally eye-appealing sidekick. Knowing she’s in no position to start a relationship, she tells herself to enjoy the short few minutes of time with the big behemoth that she can, and then get back to reality. After all, what would a hunk like that see in someone like her? He probably had dozens of women throwing themselves at his feet. What she doesn’t expect is that his attention to detail and concern for her wellbeing would not only make her feel all warm and fuzzy, but would also spark a desire deep within to spend as much time with him as she could before he waltzed right back out of her life. She expected that would be the end result, once he learned about her other extracurricular activities.

As always, Ms. Prater has penned an enthralling book of love, desire, and determination, with no small measure of lust added in, for good measure. Oh yes, Ms. Prater does not disappoint in the lust department; there was plenty of that coming from not only the characters, but me as well. Who wouldn’t lust over one of her Insedi warriors? This golden Greek Adonis could surely melt the heart of any female. Yet, beneath that stunning exterior, you’d find the heart of a gentleman, the devotion of a saint, and a love to last forever. Yep, these guys are the perfect men, all rolled into a comely package.

Once I start one of Ms. Prater’s stories, I can hardly put it down. Her characters draw me in from page one and don’t let go until the end. Moreover, once the wonderful tale is over, I always find myself hoping for another. I did note a few editing errors, which really surprised me as I’m usually so engrossed I don’t see anything beyond the characters and the world unfolding around them. It was nothing to detract from the story, and if I weren’t so eager to keep reading, I may have made note to pass along to the author. As it was, they seemed trivial and unimportant in my quest to see what happened next.

Would I recommend this to anyone who loves otherworldly romance? Absolutely, without hesitance. Every one of the Fueled by Lust editions has been wonderful and I will likely read them all again. Several times, in fact. I just wonder; were I ever to meet one of Ms. Prater’s warriors, would he smell smoke or something a whole lot sweeter emanating from me? And if I’ve created a question in your mind on whatever I could possibly mean by that, well then you’ll just have to read Fueled by Lust: Sotarios for yourself to find out. *wink*
