Seventeen-year-old Cat is living every teenager’s dream: she has her own apartment on the Lower East Side and at night she’s club kid royalty, guarding the velvet rope at some of the hottest clubs in the city. The night with its crazy, frenetic, high-inducing energy—the pulsing beat of the music, the radiant, joyful people and those seductive white lines that can ease all pain—is when Cat truly lives. But her daytime, when real life occurs, is more nightmare than dream. Having spent years suffering her mother’s emotional and physical abuse, and abandoned by her father, Cat is terrified and alone—unable to connect to anyone or anything. But when someone comes along who makes her want to truly live, she’ll need to summon the courage to confront her demons and take control of a life already spinning dangerously out of control.

Cat’s story was riveting. It was filled with such suspense, it had me on the edge of my seat. I do not know which was worse, Cat’s social life or her family life. It was clear from the beginning she was willing to fill the holes left by her parents with anything available including a risky environment and drug usage.
Kamagra jelly is accessible in the pharmaceutical market is loaded generico levitra on line with some viable and useful methods of treatment of erectile dysfunction used by doctor is used to treat particular kind of impotence that is difficult to treat using medicine. Cat is a character I wanted to hug at times to tell her life can be different and at others shake her until she realized the error of her ways. She was unfortunately dealt a bad hand in life when it came to her parents. It is clear that this is a major force in what has made her act and think the way she does. Unfortunately, it also created a teen who looked for attention and release from the wrong places. Her story brought out a multitude of feelings from me because it was so accurate to how life was during this age for some, as well as reminded me of some people I know that fell victim to this type of outcome or behavior. It definitely left me raw with emotion on multiple occasions, which is a testament of the author’s ability to create mental images with the words.

I found parts of this story tough to read, because of the subject matter. There is vast amounts of reckless behavior including various types of drug usage, underage drinking, underground clubs, and sketchy situations that could have deadly results. While this type of behavior is accurate of the underground club seen in the 80’s, it just felt a little too real at times.

This is a story that will stick with me for a while. I cannot help but wonder who Cat really was, and what happens to her in life. I would not be surprised if this character was based on a real person, because it was clear in the author’s writing that Cat’s story touched her and in turn touched me as well. I would love to read a sequel about Cat’s life and whether or not she was able to truly escape the lifestyle she so naively entered, or if she found a way to lift herself above and become a productive citizen in the world.

When reporter Abbie Marshall needs to escape Honduras, a private jet carrying a Hollywood A-lister is her only way out. She has a ride home with Irish actor Jack Winter – notorious womanizer and all round bad boy. Abbie is shaken to the core by Winter’s blazing beauty and provocative mind.

After the plane’s nose-dive into the remote rainforest forces them to fight for survival, Abbie catches tantalizing glimpses of the complicated man behind the image. And the more she sees of him, the more he touches some primal part of her that she is determined to suppress. But after a devastating encounter with Winter’s shadow side, Abbie’s detachment is shattered.

On returning to normal life, Abbie cannot forget what happened, nor ignore the shocking rumours about the star’s private life. Her struggle to make sense of her torment leads straight back to Winter, who is just as obsessed by her. But if they are to have a relationship, Abbie knows she must embrace his hidden desires … and accept her own.

No longer caring about anything but their intoxicating love affair, Abbie is drawn deeper into the dark heart of Winter – and the secret that threatens to destroy everything …

I always enjoy a book that draws you into the action straightaway and that’s whatThe Pleasures of Winter did. Abbie, the main character, is running for her life and just when you think she’s safe, she ends up in a plane crash in the jungle. It’s during the scenes there that Ms. Winters did a great job of setting the stage for the rest of the story. There’s a pull-push quality to the relationship between Jack and Abbie and just when you think you know how the story will play out, they’re whisked back to civilization.

Sometimes I liked the character of Abbie because she came across as the strong journalist she was initially portrayed as, but then at other times she seemed to be at the mercy of everyone else in the story. I liked Jack, even though it was obvious he had a dark side to him. The dialogue was wonderful and very natural sounding and the pace kept me reading. All the secondary characters were interesting too. Although this book was publicized as similar toFifty Shades of Grey (which I must admit I’ve never read), there wasn’t a lot of sex in it but instead lots of tension that led up to those scenes. If you like Chick Lit with kink, this is probably the book for you.

While I don’t think this will be a romance novel to everyone’s liking, if you want to check out a BDSM story with a happy ending than The Pleasures of Winter would probably be a good starting point for you.

She can build them up, tear them down, and bring them to the heights of passion. But she has no idea she has this power.

I’m not usually one for historicals. They just don’t really do it for me. And then I found this book. Wow. It wasn’t what I expected…it was more.

Marissa Day takes a normally overdone topic–sorcerers and Fae–and breathes new life into the idea. The Fae aren’t the cute, sparkling beings I expected. It’s great. Her writing style is fluid. The book starts with a bang and doesn’t let up until the end. I wasn’t completely sure which time period I was in in the book, but it wasn’t a huge distraction. I did have an issue with the heroine. From the get-go there were occurrences that I thought a woman with little to no sexual experience should be a lot more freaked out. Men with men is something that was totally taboo and yet it seemed to not faze her in the least. I liked that it didn’t, but it was hard to fathom at the same time.

Ms. Day writes some page burning sex scenes. Whoa. I thought the book would spontaneously combust on a couple of occasions. I loved how Miranda, totally unschooled in the ways of sorcerers and catalysts, fell into the knowledge and experiences. It was like I went through them with her. Yeah, I’m still fanning myself.

If you want a book that has a ton of heat, equal parts heart and spice, then you need to read The Seduction of Miranda Prosper.

Payne, twin sister of Vishous, is cut from the same dark, seductive cloth as her brother. Imprisoned for eons by their mother, the Scribe Virgin, she finally frees herself-only to face a devastating injury. Manuel Manello, M.D., is drafted by the Brotherhood to save her as only he can-but when the human surgeon and the vampire warrior meet, their two worlds collide in the face of their undeniable passion. With so much working against them, can love prove stronger than the birthright and the biology that separates them?

I am often ambivalent when it comes to paranormal novels. They can go either way on the WOW factor scale. That being said, if you have not jumped on the Black Dagger Brotherhood bandwagon yet, do not hesitate any longer because this is the place to start. This is the best of the best. With the beginning of the series, Dark Lover, readers have been hypnotically drawn into the world of Caldwell, NY and the underground lives of the vampires warriors of the Brotherhood.

The first books followed the originating members but now, with this edition we are experiencing the lives of the new generation of warriors out to protect the precarious security of the vamps that walk among us.

In Lover Unleashed, J.R. Ward brings us Dr. Manny Manello, a brilliant and gifted human doctor that is brought in by the Brothers to save one of their own, Payne, a female warrior of the Brotherhhood. Boy, is he in for a new reality along with a few adjustments to his bedside manner. Payne is not only overwhelming his senses but she is the twin sister to one of the Brotherhood’s most dangerous warriors, the very overprotective Vichous who is not exactly a fan of humans.

The danger to the vampires soon rears its ugly head, but can Manny protect and save his lady love? Can he accept a life so different from what he knows and can Payne accept her life with Manny and leave the Brotherhood? Or will her family and loyalty to her own prevent her from finding her happiness?

J.R. Ward consistently brings in characters from the previous books throughout the series making it one long continuous story. This story, as with all the others, moves with continued grace and leaves open the possibilities of additional novels. Her twist on grammar and spelling creates a new language that intersects with the hard cord urban voice of all her vamps. Ms. Ward writes with wit and intelligence, bringing paranormal storytelling to an entirely new level.

Be warned, though: these are not your teenager’s vampires. The Brotherhood is adult, rough, violent, edgy, raw, and very, very sexy sometimes turning toward the sexual extreme. Be ready for anything because you never know where the Brothers will take you.

John Matthew has come a long way since he was found living among humans, his vampire nature unknown. Taken in by The Brotherhood, no one could guess what his true history was-or his true identity.

Xhex has long steeled herself against the attraction to John Matthew. Until fate intervenes and she discovers that love, like destiny, is inevitable.

J R Ward has done it again. Considering everything John had been through in previous books I could not wait to read this one and was not disappointed.

John and Xhex’s progression in this book, both individually and as a couple, was astounding. I also liked the fact that the author managed to incorporate some of Darius’s story since you never really got to know much about him due to the fact the he died so early in the first novel Dark Lover. I had known that Darius and Tohrment where close, but I had no idea the extent until reading this. It gives you a whole new understand on why Tohrment was so happy that John had been a descendant of Darius.

As usual the main plot and sub-plot were riveting. The fact that both John and Xhex had a personal vendetta against Lash and both wanted to be the one that destroyed him gave you a better understanding of these two characters. And Lash and the Omega, I mean really, all I can say is: Oh My Gosh!

We already knew that the relationship with John and Xhex was explosive, but they definitely kicked it up a notch in this story. Xhex was finally able to see that she was destined to be with John and could no longer fight him. I am just happy that the rejection that John had previously been handed by Xhex did not destroy any chance of their romance surviving. If any pair deserved one another it was definitely these two.

For the first time in this series I actually do not know what to expect next. Usually I can tell who will be the next character up for a happy ending, but this time I can legitimately say that I am completely baffled. But what I can tell you is that no matter who it is I will be counting down the days to the next installment to this series.

Anita Blake is back in St. Louis and trying to live a normal life – as normal as possible for someone who is a legal vampire executioner and a U. S. Marshal. There are lovers, friends and their children, school programs to attend. In the midst of all the ordinary happiness a vampire from Anita’s past reaches out. She was supposed to be dead, killed in an explosion, but the Mother of All Darkness is the first vampire, their dark creator. It’s hard to kill a god. This dark goddess has reached out to her here – in St. Louis, home of everyone Anita loves most. The Mother of All Darkness has decided she has to act now or never, to control Anita, and all the vampires in America.

The Mother of All Darkness believes that the triumvirate created by master vampire Jean-Claude with Anita and the werewolf Richard Zeeman has enough power for her to regain a body and to immigrate to the New World. But the body she wants to possess is already taken. Anita is about to learn a whole new meaning to sharing her body, one that has nothing to do with the bedroom. And if the Mother of All Darkness can’t succeed in taking over Anita’s body for herself, she means to see that no one else has the use of it, ever again. Even Belle Morte, not always a friend to Anita, has sent word: “Run if you can…”

She’s BACK!! Marmee Noir, thought dead, is back with a vengeance and her target is Anita and her main men – Jean Claude and Richard. Without a body, the Mother of All Darkness possesses some of the Council, trying to destroy the strongest triumvirate in the United States.

Anita, Jean Claude and Richard must find a way to become Master of Tigers to gain strength for the coming battle, while also dealing with Haven, the unstable Rex of the St. The entire process requires a few minutes to get done and allow a man pleasurable time in the future when his penis simply won’t respond. viagra uk A mild case of anemia can cause fatigue of your physical and mental.Fatigue is a physiological cheap tadalafil no prescription warning to suggest people to take a break. The fatigue cause by the short time over activities, can be resumed quickly after a rest. But a long time working and too much nightlife is not for your rest, the accumulation of fatigue is dangerous.it will injure your health and a long time healthy overdraft will lead. Bullet is Anita Blake at her best, and worst. Anita is a strong character, always pushing herself to do more than she reqires her men to do. In this book, we see a side of Anita that has been absent for a while – the self-doubt is strong in this one, but in spite of her doubts, Anita gets the job done. Jean Claude is his usual charming self, even when confronted by a rebellious Asher, who wants to take his were hyenas and find a territory of his own. Richard, so conflicted in previous books, comes through big time here, and strengthens the triumvirate exponentially. Seems the therapy is working for him, and when the threat from Marmee Noir becomes evident, he realizes he is needed to help in the battle.

I love this Richard, strong and dealing with his wolf more than he ever has. I also love the growth many of Anita’s people show in this one, most notably Nathaniel. He has gained an air of maturity that shows how powerful he could be, even as a less dominant person. Anita gains strength in this one, and learns something about all of her people as well.

This wouldn’t be an Anita Blake book without the ardeur, and the sex that goes with it, and it is here in several spectacular events. But it fits in with the story, and is necessary to the plot, and to the survival of everyone involved. This is Anita Blake, so I wasn’t looking for a happy ever after. But I did want a satisfactory conclusion, with progress toward a strategy of what to do about Marmee Noir, and I got this. I have followed this series from the first book, Guilty Pleasures, and while Anita seemed to stray for a while, this book brings the old Anita, with all her strengths and weaknesses, back full force, and I loved it. Anita fans will love this one, but it is not for the faint of heart-it IS Anita Blake after all.

Lady Daniela has never taken a full human servant. At two hundred years, she’s always put it off, having a bachelor’s attitude toward bonding with another, even an inferior human. However, on her return to her sheep station in Western Australia in 1953, she meets Dev, a war veteran and laconic bushman, who has the talents to help her reclaim her station from her mother’s lover, who usurped her position there forty years before.

But after she takes care of that nasty bit of business, she’s also intending to rid Western Australia of a corrupt Region Master who is 500 years old and therefore over twice her age and strength. While a full human servant, particularly one with Dev’s unique talents, can augment her skills and resources, the more she gets to know him, the more reluctant she is to bind him to her in a way that might get him killed. But Dev has his own thoughts on the matter, and she will soon find it’s easier for a vampire to survive in the desert sun than for her to survive without him by her side.

Have I mentioned before how much I love what I do? I’m sure I have, and I’m going to do so again! When this book hit my inbox I was reminded of how much I love books, and how much I love books by Joey W. Hill. For fans of Joey W. Hill this is a definite must have. The Vampire’s Claim is the third installment in the Berkley Vampire Queen Series, but it’s also a prequel to The Vampire Queen’s Servant as well as Mark of the Vampire Queen.

This book tells the tale of Lady Daniela (Danny) and Devlin (Dev) the man who becomes her human servant. We first meet these two as secondary characters in Mark of the Vampire Queen. I adored them when we were first introduced, they had an obvious love for one another and yet they understood how to conduct themselves in the Vampire Society in regards to that love. I found myself wondering how they came to be so … well… comfortable in their skins when Ms. Hill’s vampire society makes for stressful sexual encounters and dominance battles. It was a great pleasure to read their story and have the mental image in my head of how they would be in the future.

Daniela is a strong (and sometimes vicious) vampire who is surprisingly mild compared to previous vamps we have met in this series. She knows what she needs to do to survive and to make sure her power is recognized, but she equally wishes she didn’t have to be so harsh. When she meets Dev she knows she has what he needs to heal and to actually start living again, instead of simply surviving. She sets out to prove it to him, while still giving him as much of a choice as she can. She never wanted him to be pulled into her world, but she soon realizes that she can’t survive in her vicious world without him by her side.

I loved Daniela. I don’t know how else to say that. Decreased activity order viagra from canada of mitochondria-specific proteins, including the transcription factor PGC1. She sees so much more in Dev than he sees in himself and she’s willing to push so that he eventually sees those things as well. Another amazing heroine from Ms. Hill.

Devlyn is a bushman who knows his way around the Outback… and around a woman’s body. He’s not looking for any sort of attachment, so his fascination with Danny comes as a bit of surprise to him. Dev is a man who has been severely damaged and would rather keep himself from others. He meets his match in Lady Danny. He finds he wants to protect her, despite all her assertions that she could protect herself. His determination serves her in good stead and sets them off on their journey to love.

I don’t know how to describe my attachment to Dev. He infuriated me and made me want to pull him into my arms and coddle him in equal turns. An extremely headstrong man, he has issues that would turn most people in the other direction, and yet I found I wanted to know everything so that I could help him. Danny was the perfect woman to pull him out of himself and into the world again… even if it is a much more dangerous world than even he could think. Dev’s journey of discovery was gut wrenching and moving to witness, and one that will bring me back again and again to this man and his love.

The Vampire’s Claim is a book that I feel I can’t recommend enough. It is filled with action, amazing vistas beautifully described by Ms. Hill and evocative encounters between the varied characters, but especially between Danny and Dev. A definite recommend, this one is going in my “To read over and over and over again” pile. If you aren’t already a fan of Ms. Hill, then you may want to pick this one up, as I’m pretty sure she’ll quickly sway you to her side of the erotic fence. Another fantastic offering from Joey W. Hill… I can’t wait to see what’s next in the Vampire chronicles.
