She’s smoking hot … and his ex-partner’s ex-wife.

Ridley Asher found herself unemployed. Jack Sterling needed an administrative assistant. No brainer, right?

Ridley became Sterling Motor’s administrative assistant—and the object of Jack’s desire. He had no idea the attraction was mutual. After an indecent involving her ex-husband, they grow closer, both mentally and physically.

Little do they know, her ex has no intentions of letting her go. Can they explore a life together even though she once belonged to someone else?

Nothing like being off limits.

This story is quick, but that’s what I liked about it. There’s build-up, sure, but the author got right into the tale. Ridley and Jack have chemistry. I liked how the author built it up. Not insta love or insta sex, but a slower burn, despite being a short story.

Ridley is a tough cookie. She knows what she wants and she’s got an adorable pup beside her. I liked how she wasn’t afraid to stand up for herself.

Jack is one part possessive and one part confused. How can he be in love with his ex-partner’s ex-wife? Easy. She haunts his dreams. I liked how he wanted her and never quite gave up the desire.

Her ex is the real clincher. He’s a turd. I don’t like reading about abuse, but I’m glad he got his.

If you want a quick read that’s perfect for a lunch break or right before bed, then this one is for you. Don’t miss it.

I’m new to the writing of Xondra Day, but I’m glad I picked up this short story. The writing flowed and even though it’s short, I felt like I was right there with the characters. Sure, there is a bit of impossibility in the story…but it’s a good thing. I liked that about this one. I liked how the odds are stacked against the characters, but there’s always a glimmer of hope. I can’t go into too much detail, but this is a great read for the lunch time or when you want something hot and sweet.

My favorite part was the descriptions…and the hot guys. Xondra Day paints a picture of the landscape in a few words and transported this reader. I was there in the desolate landscape with the characters. I loved the heat between the guys, too. It felt real. That’s hard to do in a short story and Xondra Day nailed it.

Boy, oh, boy this is a hot story.

I love the work of Katy Swann, so I knew I was in for a treat. The story flowed well, there were twists I wasn’t expecting and have I mentioned the hot factor?

This isn’t a story for the faint of heart. If you’re new to the BDSM genre, this one might be a bit of a shocker, but in a good way. I loved the chemistry between Sami and Jet, even when she hated him. I felt the trust and devotion, too.

I like the work of Caitlin Ricci. Her books are always interesting and pack a punch. This book was no exception. Instead of the usual, vampires using humans, the vampires run the show. They can bite whom them want, but don’t always kill. I liked how Alexi wasn’t out for vengeance or anything. He was rather reluctant. Castor took a little time to get to know. I liked him because he didn’t back down, but he was so tense. I didn’t get right away why he was tense, but once I did, it made perfect sense.

The two character didn’t seem to be compatible at first. I liked how they had to work themselves out. The ending was a tad abrupt and I would’ve liked more–but that’s because I enjoyed the story. I wanted to see them flesh out the relationship. What made them change their mind?

There isn’t a ton of sex in this novella, so if you’re looking for a stepping stone into paranormal or vampire romance, this might be the one to start with. If you’re looking for a quick book for a lunch hour read, then this is the one you want.

Set in the 1950s, Lady Be Good is Amber Brock’s mesmerizing return, sweeping readers into the world of the mischievous, status-obsessed daughter of a hotel magnate and the electric nightlife of three iconic cities: New York, Miami, and Havana.

Kitty Tessler is the winsome and clever only child of self-made hotel and nightclub tycoon Nicolas Tessler. Kitty may not have the same pedigree as the tennis club set she admires, but she still sees herself as every inch the socialite–spending her days perfecting her “look” and her nights charming all the blue-blooded boys who frequent her father’s clubs. It seems like the fun will never end until Kitty’s father issues a terrible ultimatum: she may no longer date the idle rich. Instead, Kitty must marry Andre, her father’s second-in-command, and take her place as the First Lady of his hotel empire. Kitty is forced to come up with a wily and elaborate plan to protect her own lofty ideas for the future, as well as to save her best friend, Henrietta Bancroft, from a doomed engagement: Kitty will steal Henrietta’s fiance, a fabulously wealthy but terribly unkind man from a powerful family–thereby delivering the one-two punch of securing her now-fragile place on the social ladder and keeping her friend from a miserable marriage.

Smitten, but still eager to convince her father of her commitment to Andre, Kitty and Hen follow Max, Andre, and the rest of the band back down to Miami–and later to Cuba. As Kitty spends more time with Max, she begins waking up to the beauty–and the injustice–of the world beyond her small, privileged corner of Manhattan. And when her well-intended yet manipulative efforts backfire, Kitty is forced to reconsider her choices and her future before she loses everyone she loves.

Well written and engaging, this book is not to be missed.

Ms. Brock’s book flows from the first page. I read it in one sitting. I had to know what would happen next to Kitty. I liked the variety of situations she dealt with and how she made her way through them. She’s certainly an interesting character. In some ways, the book almost seems impossible – one person could have all these experiences in one lifetime. The thing is, this takes place in the 50s in the music industry, albeit in the nightclub side of that industry.

I liked Kitty’s forthright approach to life and love. She has ideas and knows what she wants to do with them. She’s almost a tad too pushy, even when she means well, though. Like she knows what’s best for everyone else, even if it doesn’t seem like it might be best and she’s pushing her ideas off on her friends.

Still, I liked her pluck and determination. I liked how she grew through the story.

If you’re looking for a book that’s a little different from the norm, then this might be the one you’ve been looking for.

A nice, hot short story.

I know the work of TA Chase will be fantastic, so I was excited to read this. I’ve read others by this author and haven’t been let down. This story is no different.

Two men, hot for each other, but unsure the attraction is mutual. Great trope. I liked Carl being a little wary of Layne. He knows he attracted, but hey, things might not work out. Throw in the need to work together with the horses and there’s great tension. Layne isn’t looking for anyone, but when opportunity strikes, he won’t shirk his duty.

Take two lost souls, mix them up and watch the sparks fly…

I’ve never read a book by Megan Frampton and I’m glad I rectified that mistake. This book flowed nicely and I read it in one afternoon. It’s an easy read and fun.

The heroine, Olivia, has a high opinion of herself—she thinks she knows best and can help out whenever needed. She tends to take this belief she knows best for everyone else to the extremes. It’s a tad off putting at times because she won’t get moved from her ideas. I liked her growth through the story, though and was glad she did have a chance to do so.

Edward has his issues, too. He’s the bastard son and doesn’t think he’s good enough for anyone. He believes, no matter what, that everyone is looking down on him. It got a tad old after a while because I wanted to say, you know, they aren’t all against you. He had chances with Olivia, but was too consumed with his feelings of inadequacy.

Still, the passion between Olivia and Edward sizzled. I couldn’t get enough.

I’m glad I read this book and even though it’s book 2 in the series, I didn’t feel lost. I recommend this for anyone who wants a fun afternoon read.

For a short read, this one packs a lot of heat.

I love the work of Lucy Felthouse. I’ve never been steered wrong by her books. This one is short, but it’s high on heat. The characters aren’t together long—it’s only 39 pages—but the connection is there.

Penny got herself into trouble by trusting the wrong person. I could relate to her. Sometimes it’s hard to know who to trust. To atone for getting into this trouble (I won’t give away spoilers), she ends up at a soup kitchen for community service. She’s her own person, but she does have trust issues. I liked her, but thought the relationship to Maddox, the hero, ended up being a tad rushed. Still, this is a short story. I knew going in it would be quick.

Maddox isn’t who he seems. He looks like he’s a rough character and has some rough edges, but he’s a gem down inside. I didn’t get to know much about him, but I liked him.

Some Mistakes…

When American-born James Cavendish arrives in London tomorrow, he’ll become the Duke of Durham. Some might be ecstatic at the opportunity. Not James. He’s a simple man, fond of simple pleasures. And right now, nothing could be more pleasurable than spending his last night of freedom with a beautiful stranger.

Are Far Too Good…

Suddenly, they’re living under the same roof, where Meredith is expected to teach James how to be a duke—while trying not to surrender to temptation a second time.

To Be Forgotten

For a duke and a commoner, marriage would be pure scandal. Yet nothing has ever felt as right as having Meredith in his arms…and in his bed. Soon he must choose—between a duty he never desired, and a woman he longs for, body and soul…

One wild night and two lost souls can equal love—after a few bumps in the road.

This is the fourth book in this series, but I can tell you I wasn’t stuck or confused. Yes, I started in the middle of the series, but Ms. Rodale does a great job of not only keeping the reader up to speed on the characters, but keeping the story fresh. The nice thing about this book is if you’re not familiar with the others in the series, it reads like a standalone. That’s good since, yeah, I started this series at the end.

James, the hero, is rather bland. I couldn’t decide if I wanted to root for him or move on. I wanted to like him, but he’s almost so simple…I just didn’t connect. I didn’t feel a connection to either James or Meredith and wanted to so much. I wanted to be excited and feel some tension. I didn’t. That doesn’t mean the book was bad. Far from it. I could tell she longed for him, but I wanted more depth. I also wished she hadn’t been portrayed as quite as much of a martyr. She was a real person with real desires. If that desire had shone through a bit more…wowza.

But the longing glances and desire was there. I hoped there would be more witty dialogue and fun, but maybe that’s just because James isn’t a witty, silly kind of guy. That’s not horrible. It’s just him.

If you want a historical book that’s interesting and has characters you won’t forget, then this might be the book for you. Having read the blurbs for the other books, I’m intrigued.  I know I’ll be checking out the rest of the Cavendishes.
