Review: Secret Santa 4U

Secret Santa 4U
By Paisley Scott

Christmas was always the loneliest holiday for Sophie Mulligan. But at least this year, her sex life was fabulous! Too bad it was only online. Then, on Christmas Eve, a sudden snowstorm sends her Secret Santa to her doorstep and Sophie finds herself on his naughty list.

This story was such an unexpected holiday treat! I never thought I would find such a complete story in such a short format. Sophie is the local college’s librarian and Brody is her helpful, but much younger neighbor. After some shared holiday shopping and a convenient snow storm, Sophie discovers that her sexy internet Santa is looking for more than just a quick online rendezvous. What is a woman to do?

Sophie is a complete woman – with real insecurities and questions about this possible relationship, and she is incredibly well-written and authentic. Brody is every woman’s sexy-young-thing come to life. He genuinely cares for Sophie and has been actively pursuing her. The question is, will she risk their friendship and give their chemistry a real chance at a relationship?

Review: Tinsel and Takeovers

TINSEL AND TAKEOVERS
By J.T. Schultz

Keeping the family company from financial disaster is a full time job for Sage Taggart, one that leaves her social life in ruins. With a little white lie made over the Thanksgiving holidays and a trip home for Christmas on the horizon, she’ll have to come up with a boyfriend fast. But should she let her fingers do the walking and hire a male escort?

When Jesse Francis agrees to meet one of his brother’s “clients” at the airport to let her know she’ll be minus one escort for the holidays, he can’t believe his luck, or his body’s reaction to the woman known to him by reputation as the “ruthless bitch in heels.” It’s unfair and unethical, but with his company set to take over hers in only a matter of days, taking his brother’s place is the perfect opportunity to gain inside information.

Yet, amidst the tinsel, Jesse sees a soft and very sexy side of Sage, and the question becomes, who is taking over whom?

An interesting twist grabbed my attention from the start of this fun holiday tale. Jesse and Sage are perfect for each other, but wouldn’t have met outside of business if it weren’t for Jesse’s brother’s unique profession.

The tough business woman with a ball-buster reputation shows a vulnerable side that is endearing. Jesse’s journey and revelations about life and love are nice, neat and believable. Their chemistry is palpable, the dialogue good and the sex scorching. The secondary characters, although stereotypical, filled out the scenes nicely.

This is an ideal story to curl up with over the holidays.

Review: Give It To Me

Give It To Me
by Desiree Holt

Carolina (Callie) Michaels is tired of being a good girl. She has deep, erotic fantasies she’s just dying to live, but none of the men she dates seem to want to share them. She decides to give herself the birthday present of a night to remember, but when her intended date decides she’s too adventurous for him, Callie’s attention turns to dark, sexy Sam Winthrop, her next door neighbor who’s had his own erotic dreams—about her. She invites him to celebrate her birthday with her, and when he gets to her place and discovers what kind of celebration she has in mind, Sam’s convinced that tonight his fantasies as well as Callie’s will come true.

If you like dirty talk, this is the book for you. Or even if you think you might like it. I can’t remember ever reading a book that had the man talking dirty so much, or so well. It was really hot, actually.

I was pleasantly surprised by the humor and lightheartedness of the opening scene. The conversation the girlfriends shared on the phone was great.

Sam is sexy, in control, and thoroughly capable of satisfying Callie’s every desire. This story is mostly about the toys that Callie bought at the adult store. Sam and Callie use all of the toys in succession, and he still can’t seem to get enough of her.

Besides all of the hot and sexy action, the author manages to blend in some tenderness that didn’t seem out of place or unrealistic. It made a nice balance with all of the intense and descriptive sex and worked for me. A little more relationship development would’ve been appreciated, but not necessary. This book is about hot, kinky, fantasy fulfilling sex, and the author executes it perfectly.

Review: Santa Knows I’m Naughty

Santa Knows I’m Naughty
by Tessa Rae

Aimee was a very bad girl this year. Girls this naughty don’t get lumps of coal for Christmas. They get large, bruising, wicked toys from their husbands. But why did Aimee’s husband, Nathan, buy her the toy? Is he tired of playing with her? Has he found a new playmate? When Aimee confronts her husband, determined to force the answer from him, he seizes her new toy and changes the rules to the game.

Is Nathan’s gift more than Aimee can handle? Or will they wear the batteries down before New Year’s?

The whole “Santa” aspect of the story seemed limited to the first line and the end thought. I didn’t feel like it was nearly integrated enough to warrant being the title. It seemed tagged on to me. This story is mostly about a woman so hot for her husband that she uses the amazing vibrator he bought for her while he’s away. They are relatively newly married, and, apparently, go at it like bunnies, because she can’t handle it when he hasn’t satisfied her for the few days before he leaves.

I do wish I had known before reading how much of the sex was going to be masturbation. Really all of the encounters, except the last one, were Aimee playing with the toy, or herself, on her own. That’s just not my preference in erotic romance stories. Also, the final sexual experience with Nathan seemed a bit adversarial and out of place. I wanted it to either be about the toy, or be more Dominant/Submissive with the husband’s and wife’s interactions; with both subjects being there in such a short story it weakened both by being less cohesive.

Still, I really liked the heroine. I felt her emotions were right on target. I liked the small side-note her sister made as a secondary character, too. There were some funny moments, too, which were well developed. I liked her reactions, too. Nathan was also well-written in terms of his motivations.

Review: Sultry Saudi Nights (Destination Pleasure 4)

Sultry Saudi Nights Destination Pleasure 4
by Allie Standifer

The past is supposed to stay in the past, right? Tell that to Sheik Damon E’Darvue. He showed up in Ariel Lake’s life after a one night mistake three years ago. With amazing amounts of bad luck and bad timing, Ariel finds herself married to a man she’s never been able to forget. But this time will she find the courage to stick around and find out what happens once passion is satiated?

This one is a very quick read, and I do mean quick. I wasn’t quite sure how I would feel about a story that jumped right into the physical aspects of the relationship, but before I knew it I was coming to the end of the story and I had a smile on my face.

When first we meet Damon and Ariel they have been thrown back together after having shared one incredible night of passion. They parted ways three years before due to miscommunication and misunderstanding. Damon wants Ariel back and isn’t above using manipulation of circumstances, namely being in the right place at the absolutely right time, to get her back in his arms where he knows she belongs. Ariel has other ideas, but comes to the conclusion that one more night in this man’s arms could be what it takes to get him out of her system–something she hasn’t been able to do for three years.

While short, this tale did touch me, if it didn’t exactly yank at my heartstrings. Of course, we do get our Happily Ever After with a few touches of character quirks and some chuckles along the way. All in all, this was a fun, quick read, even if I did wish it was longer, just so I could get more character and plot development to satisfy my nosy soul.

Review: Delicious Darkness

Delicious Darkness
By: KyAnn Waters

A fugitive from a dark dimension, Dorian Hunt seeks a total bonding. Like a vampire needs blood or a werewolf needs the moon, Dorian needs to anchor himself to a woman of white light in order to survive. Without the mating, within one lunar cycle his might and magic would cease to protect him.

Audra Quinn has always been afraid of the dark. As an empath, she knows when Dorian enters her small metaphysical bookstore, he is the man who can help her realize her true potential as a woman of white light.

Bounty hunters from his dimension are lurking in the shadows, waiting for their opportunity to capture him, dead or alive. Dorian knows he will be easier to manage dead. Will Dorian have the strength to defend, or does it take the magic of a woman of white light to annihilate the evil darkness?

I especially loved the beginning of this book. Its almost hypnotic feel of the opening sequence drew me in immediately.

The paranormal elements were integral. The story couldn’t have existed without them, and they were seamless. I’m not really into the whole “auras” & “chakras” stuff, but they worked so importantly in this story that it didn’t take me out of the story, rather added to the complete picture the writer made.

A magical, spiritual experience, KyAnn Waters has written a story that is both sexy and tender. I liked Audra because she is a care-giver. She wants the best from Dorian and expects it, but is also clear in showing that she will give him all she has of herself. He has always been a taker, and only with Audra is he completed; his dark giving way to her light.

She gives of herself freely – with no agenda, and that is beautiful. The characters have very developed emotions, which, even with how short the story is, leads to a very touching ending.

While camping in the Cuyamaca Mountains above San Diego, shy Melena Harrison meets surfer Dylan Hart and is floored that an attractive man would actually fall for her. Especially since she hasn’t had a date since, well, birth.

They share a romantic late night hike, trips to the beach and chemistry that can’t be bottled—everything is going great. That is until Cassi, Melena’s spoiled sister, falls for Dylan, too. And what Cassi wants, she usually gets. Manipulation, sordid tricks and revealing clothing—Cassi will do whatever it takes to get her man. Even if Melena is left heart broken.

Can Dylan and Melena’s budding relationship survive Cassi’s vindictive meddling?

I’m full of praise for Love Thy Sister, Guard Thy Man. I blame Ms. Mendoza for causing my lack of sleep because I just had to know what would happen next. Every page screamed “read me!” and it took incredible effort to stop pushing myself. I finally relented and went to bed so that I would be able to wake up the next morning to go to work. I wish I could quit my day job and read engaging books like Love Your Sister all day, every day.

Melena Russell spends a week of summer vacation at a youth camp with her best friend, April. She is beautiful with an athletic frame, but utterly shy and blushes easily. And, get this – she has never dated. She meets Dylan Hart at camp and develops a deep crush on him. The mere thought of him makes her cheeks go crimson. It turns out that Dylan likes her, too. Soon, they begin seeing each other. Then, Melena’s bratty younger sister, Cassi, comes into the picture. She is determined to snatch him from right under Melena’s nose.

The whole novel is fun, and there are lots of laugh-out-loud moments. It’s interesting to see how Cassi is so determined to cause misery to her older sister, plotting and scheming. A huge misunderstanding ensues and Cassi hangs around Dylan every chance she gets.

There are huge lessons to draw from the story: friendship, family, love, forgiveness, reconciliation, and relationship with God. Another clear lesson is to not jump to conclusions. It causes unnecessary heartache for Melena and Dylan. Melena, when faced with difficult situations, turns to God and asks for His guidance. The thing is, she is also human and at one point, got into a fight with Cassi and causes a scene at – of all places – a party organized by their pastor.

Ms. Mendoza penned an edifying story with highly likeable characters. Natural dialogues, clever and witty conversations — things just seem to flow effortlessly. All you need to do is just go with the flow. I felt connected with the characters as I devoured the novel. It is definitely an easy-to-read treat and I am already looking out for more of her novels. I highly recommend this!

Review: The Awakening

The Awakening
by Rynne Raines

Torn between fantasy and reality, Natalie Kendrick wakes each morning on fire, haunted by passionate dreams of Alexander, the nineteenth century gentleman she believes saved her life fifteen years ago. But when living outside the erotic dream world they share becomes unbearable, she seeks the help of a dream analyst. The solution seems simple: dream suppressants. But can Natalie bring herself to forever shut out the only man she has ever loved–from her head, her life and her heart?

The Awakening offers a crisp, refreshing read with a dusting of paranormal. As a reader, I was quickly engaged in Natalie’s internal struggle. She’s a believable character who tackles her dilemma, handsome Alexander, with a straight forward approach. The steam and sensuality unravel at a perfect pace throughout Natalie’s experience with the evasive rogue. Miss Raines captured my imagination and kept me guessing until the end. Well done!

Review: Only Man For the Job

Only Man For the Job
by Liza James

She never should have left, he never should have let her. Too bad it takes two years and many sleepless nights to realize he’s always been the Only Man For the Job.

Laney Peters is back in town, and this time she’s here to stay. When she decides to have the master bath in her new home remodeled, she is unprepared to discover the love of her life standing on her front porch ready to fulfill all her needs.

This short story is quick in the telling but sufficiently long in heat. Right away we meet Laney Peters, a lady in dire need of a bathroom overhaul.

In saunters Keith Jansen, a handy man with the skills to do the job right. The trick is that these two are fated mates who have a past steeped in misperceptions, hurt feelings and pride.

How do you ask for a second chance? How do you get past the past?

These two realize through their verbal thrust and parry that the passion they shared was the only true and uncomplicated thing they agreed upon with enthusiasm. Could it be the basis for reconciliation? Is the passion still as hot as they remembered? Is Keith really qualified to overhaul her bathroom and her heart?

After reading this, I’m still not too sure about the fate of the bathroom, but I think Laney might be in good hands.

Did I say “might”?

If I had my own Keith Jansen, I’d hope I had more than one bathroom in need of remodeling!
