The last person Michelle wants to see is her ex, Evan Boldon, a former marine turned sheriff. But Evan misses the woman who walked away instead of letting him help years ago. This time he’s not asking permission; he’s going to put a stop to the trouble stalking Michelle and her friends—and win her heart for good.

I expected a lot from this book, because the quality of the authors’ previous works has preceeded them. Let me review this anthology one story at a time.

First, we have Against the Heart by Kat Martin (Meri’s story). She’s escaping a one-night-stand who’s also, unfortunately, the father of her daughter. This guy wants to bleed her dry for every penny she has, and threatens her kid on top of it. So Meri runs … right into Ian Brodie.

Man, I loved Ian and his father. I have this feeling they may have been in other of Ms. Martin’s books, but I’ve never “met” them before. Ian is steadfast, honorable and loving. His dad is heartbroken from his wife’s death, incorrigible and hides his heart pretty well, until he gets thawed out by Meri’s young daughter, who basically adopts him as a grandpa.

There is no question this story’s suspense was first rate. I was absolutely worried about Meri and, as I got to know the rest of the crew in Spokane, worried about them, too. It seemed her ex would stop at nothing (which included beating up a friend and kidnapping) and, even though I knew in my head this story would have a happy ending, I wasn’t sure I was going to make it through reading about them getting there. I did. Barely, and with heart pounding.

The part I didn’t love as much was the romance. Not that I didn’t adore Meri and Ian, I just couldn’t buy they could fall in love–like the “let’s get married and live happily every after forever” love–in that short a time. Honestly a ‘happy for now’ ending probably would have contented me more (and I don’t say that often).

Next comes Shaken by Rebecca Zanetti (Michelle’s story) and this one really had it all. I felt it was the strongest, most well-rounded story of the trio. The suspense was great (though I really did struggle with why she felt ANY kind of responsibility to her mother…but that is what the entire story hinged on so it had to exist). Evan was a take-no-prisoners (and take no crap) kind of guy, and refused to let Michelle get away with much when it came to their previous and current/potential relationship. I also adored Wolfe…his character was honestly about the most well-rounded one in the story! I think several of the secondary characters are also part of other books the author has written, and I’m definitely going to hunt those down. If her other books are as good as this story, she’s going to be an auto buy author for me.

Lastly we have Echoes of the Past by Alexandra Ivy (Melanie’s story). Another second chance romance! One of my favorite tropes when done right, and this one did pretty well. I did feel a bit of what I’m sure was a word count constraint here, so we weren’t able to see as much of their backstories as I would have liked. Still, the romance and the suspense both worked for me here.

All in all, I think this was a pretty solid romantic suspense anthology. I got to find two “new to me” authors that I’ll check out for longer releases and found a good amount of escapism and enjoyment from this well-written trio of inter-connected stories. If you’re a fan of any of these authors, or just the genre in general, you could do worse than grabbing yourself a copy and reading the day away.

They say a guy can never be too hung. Well, Harold Jacobs doesn’t know who they are, but they’re wrong. Socially awkward for as long as he can remember, Harold feels his enormous package is just one more thing to be embarrassed about. Especially once hunky and popular Owen McKenzie notices it in the showers.

Owen knows he’s bi, but he keeps that secret close to his chest. He likes Harold, and wants to help him shed his dorky image and maybe even find a boyfriend. Still, Owen can’t stop obsessing about Harold’s equipment. And as much as he doesn’t want to flip-flop on his sexuality, Owen does want to test-drive what Harold has between his legs.

Their friendship erupts into full-blown lust. But can Owen accept the loss of his golden-child status and be Harold’s boyfriend? And can Harold outgrow his insecurity in time to keep the man he loves?

When I read the blurb for this story I will admit that I laughed pretty hard. I went into this story expecting a funny tale, and it had its moments where at the beginning I found myself laughing, especially when we meet Harold Jacobs and his problem appendage in the shower. Then I stopped and realized just how embarrassing Harold’s situation could be to a guy in communal showers especially when he was in high school. I loved Harold for his internal monologue full of so much wit and humor that you have no choice but to love him. Then enters Owen who knows he likes guys but isn’t ready for everyone else to know. I was prepared to not like Owen because of this, since I’m not always sure how to feel about stories with seemingly straight guys who turn gay. Ms. Harris pulls this off beautifully, with characters so loving and human that you can’t help but be drawn to them. I was rooting for them the whole time. I loved that Owen was at first attracted to Harold on a purely physical and lustful level only to find that Harold was an interesting and fun guy to be around.

This is the eighth book in Ms. Harris’s Men of Holsum College series and I haven’t read any of the others but if this is any indication of how the others are written, I will definitely be picking them up. She presents a college scene that is very true to my own experiences and that makes the stories just that much more enjoyable. The men are hot and witty and I would love to have been friends with them.

Pick this up if you want an enjoyable story where the men are hot and they fall in love with enough humor to not take themselves too seriously. It’s a truly beautiful love story at the core of it all, and when you toss in hot men you can’t go wrong.

Exploring an ice cave on the Mantanuska Glacier in Alaska, Cassidy finds something out of the ordinary—six men dressed in fur and leather, motionless and seemingly dead. But she soon discovers they’re very much alive when her touch awakens one—and she finds herself pinned beneath his muscular heat in the blink of an eye.

Edensaw and his wolf brothers have slept for ten thousand years. As ice age Tlingit Indian hunters, they were chosen to be a new race of man, the first werewolves. They are the sentinels, created to protect against evil that is to come. But the touch of one woman ignites his mating urge and Edensaw awakens before he’s needed, into a world he no longer knows and a passion he cannot deny.

As the couple moves from lust to love, the dark evil brews, threatening not only to destroy the mating bond, but the sentinels themselves.

Marisa Chenery has proven herself yet again to be one of the reigning members of the “Werewolf Romance Writer Scribe” with her passionate novellas of werewolf matings. Ms. Chenery continues to impress with her engaging writing of wolf-shifter adventures as she spins a succulent tale that will make the coldest heart howl at the moon.

While hiking near an ice cave on the Alaskan Mantanuska Glacier, Cassidy makes a remarkable discovery; six prehistoric looking warriors who appear to be dead. She notices that they are all extremely handsome but one in particular calls to her heart. When she touches him, Cassidy is shocked to discover that they are very much alive. Soon she finds that her life has changed forever.

Edensaw and his wolf brothers are the “sentinels”; Tlingit Indian hunters who were chosen to be the very first werewolves in existence. They have been asleep for over ten thousand years until Edensaw, the alpha leader is touched by his mate Cassidy which triggers the wolves’ premature awakening.

The wolf brothers are now in a modern world that they are not familiar with and now have to learn to adapt in order to prepare for the battle of evil that is to come.

This story is about a predestined prehistoric werewolf mating centered in the lovely ice glaciers of Alaska. I thought this was a good story with just enough “Hot” to keep me smiling through the cold icy nights. I was intrigued enough that I could not put this book down once I started reading it, however I did feel that the story needed a bit more character development to turn it into the wonderful series that I predict this can become.

I always find myself happily ensconced into the fictional world Ms. Chenery creates with her paranormal/romance writings, and this tale’s eroticism was heated and the storyline was intriguing. I enjoyed her main characters, as well as the secondary characters and I found myself looking forward to her next book in this saga. Though some of this story did not flow as smoothly as some of Ms. Chenery’s other writings, I did find that I was captivated by her imagination and enchanted by her creativity. Ms. Chenery’s romantic concepts are always original and witty making her tales so very enjoyable.

This fascinating paranormal/romance just may be the story to break the ice around your chilled libido.

Danny Champion is ready to be a rockstar. He’s been preparing for this most of his life. He’ll finally make it with the Knights. He knows it.

It’s a horrible time to fall in love.

But then there’s Cash, Danny’s roommate. A quiet computer nerd without a clue about the music business, Cash can barely understand the world Danny’s so eager to live in. He certainly doesn’t want to share it.

Even though he knows he shouldn’t, Danny’s unable to resist introducing Cash to the wonders of sex. He didn’t expect to get addicted to Cash’s charms.

Love doesn’t always happen when it’s convenient. Danny is just starting the hard work it takes to make his band, Indigo Knights, a huge success. It involves long hours in the studio and a relentless touring schedule. Falling for his computer nerd roommate, Cash, is not on Danny’s busy agenda. That doesn’t seem to matter to Danny’s heart though. What starts as a fun fling soon turns serious for Danny but he has to convince a very reluctant Cash that Danny and his heart are for keeps.

Champion picks up a few months after the first Indigo Knights book, Squire, leaves off. If you’re new to the series or the author, don’t worry. It’s very easy to pick up the threads and enjoy this one on its own. Those familiar with this series and the previous wildly popular Heaven Sent series will definitely enjoy the few cameos from favorite characters. Mykles knows how to write great rockers and here the talents are on display yet again. Cash and Danny are fun together with obvious chemistry and the author definitely doesn’t skimp on the sex scenes, which are plentiful. The story is told from Danny’s perspective and it’s nice to get into the head of the lead singer. His characterization is nicely well rounded with good self awareness. Danny initially doesn’t want to fall in love. He wants to be the rock star that has a ton of groupies and live the life and only later fall in love and settle down. Don’t worry though because there is no infidelity but instead the emotional and mental obstacles Danny goes through are nice to watch and feel very genuine.

On the flip side Cash is much less well defined. He remains a shadowy figure and very one sided. He’s jaded and almost angry without any real depth or explanation for his feelings. The story would have benefited a lot from including some of Cash’s perspective. While I like this couple well enough, they feel flatter and less vibrant than other pairings in the rocker series from Mykles. The cameos from previous characters are wonderful though and I loved each and every one. I also like the set up for the other band members and look forward to reading their true love stories. This combined with the good writing and descriptive quality of the story elevate it from just another fluff story.

Overall, Champion is a good addition to the series and overall rocker books from this author. You can pick it up on its own and enjoy the clean writing, good wit, and hot sex. It makes for an easy and very fast read. Although I didn’t like this particular book as much as previous books, it’s still an easy one to recommend. I think fans will really enjoy it and I personally eagerly look forward to more in the series.

Hatfields and McCoys meet Dallas…

What should have been simple BDSM club play becomes complicated when lifelong neighbors Bye Caden and Karen Oakley discover there’s more between them than one steamy night. But acting on their feelings is unthinkable, for if discovered, they could reignite a century-old feud between their families.

Sneaking around to be together ups the heat factor, but it’s only a matter of time before the couple must come clean. Forever is hard to come by when one’s father shoots first and asks questions later.

Against a larger-than-life ranch setting, the lovers must overcome not only their own misgivings, but the opposition of their respective families. A task that could prove to be as big as Texas.

How can new lovers overcome an ancient family feud and be together forever?

For Bye Caden and Karen Oakley this is exactly the situation they find themselves in. When they meet at Neon Lasso, a private BDSM club, and quickly discover there are more layers to their attraction than just smokin’ hot sex they need to hide their blossoming relationship from both of their families. It is either that or risk getting disinherited or shot!

I always enjoy Ann Jacobs’ books and Lovers’ Feud is no exception. Karen and Bye are both very likeable characters, deep enough to be able to relate to them as a reader and I certainly was invested in the outcome of the book. The writing is articulate and graceful.

After the hero and heroine’s initial meeting they only went back to the Neon Lasso once more, for some racy ménage fun, and then much of the story was about them discovering their past and why their families spent so much time and effort hating one another.

The past unraveled in an interesting way, secondary characters played and important part and set up the scene for future books in the series. I will certainly be on the look out for them.

I would have enjoyed another trip back to the club later in the book and some more steaming scenes with Bye as the star, but that didn’t detract from my enjoyment of the story – I guess I’m just greedy!

880 wakes in a different world with a small female who’s been sleeping beside him, caressing him and wrapping her sweet body around his, teasing his senses. He lies silent and still, listening and evaluating each arousing touch, fighting his body’s reaction. Hatred flares when he discovers she’s human, but Mercile stole everything from him so he decides it’s fair to take her in return.

But things quickly change and he wants her at his side and in his bed. 880 has chosen a new name—Obsidian—the personification of dark and dangerous. He’ll fight them all to keep Alli. No one will stand in his way.

I have one word to “shout-out” about Obsidian! “EXCELLENT!”

Laurann Dohner definitely dazzles once again as she shows the world that she is the definite winner as “Best in Sci-Fi Romantic Writing”!

I have read every one of the “New Species” books in this series and have loved each and every one, perhaps some better than others, but Laurann Dohner has absolutely done a fantastic job at showing the emotional mindset of the “New Species” as compared to the differences we mere humans have when faced with an uncertain future where LOVE is concerned. This book combines the characteristics we love most about the “New Species” into a story that shows her fans that fantasy can be so very fun as well as sexy. As Ms. Dohner continues her exciting romantic saga, we find ourselves once again wishing to be that heroine when one of the “New Species” is ready to mark his mate!

880 is a captured “New Species” who has been tortured at the hands of humans. After watching his mate being murdered in front of his eyes, 880 sustains traumatic injuries trying to save the only mate he has ever known. When finally rescued and brought into the NSO, we find that 880 has given up on living, refusing to come out of a coma that is slowly claiming his life.

Alli is a compassionate human doctor who works at NSO. She has dedicated her life as a healer for those who have been suffering the most: the “New Species”. She has became obsessed with finding a way to bring 880 out of his coma. When every measure taken has not been successful, Alli becomes desperate. When she is denied her last ditch effort, she takes matters into her own hands. Alli uses herself to try and entice 880 into waking by scenting her scent as a possible mate.

Things become extremely complicated when 880 awakens into a different world, claims a new name and is allured by a new female scent. 880 now calling himself Obsidian is convinced that Alli is his to keep.

I loved these characters!

Obsidian is a sexy alpha male who is learning to adjust to a very human world. Love is his main focus and drive. He is innocently charming, extremely determined and humorously comprehensive as he learns to adapt to the world he is now living in. You cannot help but fall in love with this man, despite his mixed canine DNA.

Alli is a strong but quiet professional woman. She loves being a doctor but has found herself loving one man more than even her career. She is insecure about love but daring enough to risk everything for it. I loved this heroine and would love to think she has some characteristics that I may have in my life.

Laurann Dohner brings her tales to life with humor and magnetism as one cannot help but being pulled into her compelling fictional reality! These books sizzle with romance, the plot twist are fast paced and action filled, and it brings the reader to a futuristic scenario that is filled with exotic sexual heat and exhilarating exploits. I love all of her characters, even the secondary ones, leaving me wondering who will be the next mated couple in the next book in the series.

I keep finding myself searching for my own “New Species” male! “Oh what a fantasy!”

Sizzling with lethal dialogue as well as steamy sex, this truly sweet love story captures your heart and fuels your imagination. This is a highly recommended read!

Keep them coming Ms. Dohner! I cannot wait until your next book.

Laura May, a thirty something professional, driven, career oriented woman started writing and recording an erotic podcast back in 2010. The podcast became highly popular and Laura’s life changed forever.

On the last episode of the Laura May Diaries podcast, Laura reconnected with Trevor, a young, successful businessman from out of town who she met back in 2009 as a one night stand. The two fell in love and jumped into a meaningful relationship right away, but agreed that sex would be the last thing they do this time around.

The Bare Naked Truth reveals Laura’s personal life, the steamy love affair between her and Trevor, and how she secretly balances a respectable job with her erotic podcast. Her sense of humor, imagination and sexuality are highly entertaining and captivating.

Can abstinence really make the heart grow fonder?

The Laura May Diaries is an interesting concept for an e-book. It was originally an iTunes Podcast, very popular, very erotic and read by Laura May herself. She then put the podcast into words and published it as a diary.

The diary tells the story of Laura and Trevor, a handsome businessman from out of town who she met on a one night stand. They decide to hook up again, he comes to the city and they make a deal not to have sex for eight dates. She can choose where they go on four, and he chooses the other four. This is the story of how they cope and whether or not they manage to control their lust – it’s a slippery slope at times!

I really enjoyed this book. It definitely had the laugh-out-loud factor. Laura’s voice is fresh and fearless. There are adjectives and phrases within these pages that I completely adored if at times was a little shocked by! She is, as a character, hugely likeable; I’d happily be her friend. A night drinking wine and chatting with her would be enormous fun, and actually I did feel like I was doing this at times. There was no doubt in my mind that I had invested in her happy ever after.

Trevor, the hero, is human, ordinary, delicious, handsome, witty and so right for her. But is he? There is enough of a plot and a back-story to leave you wondering at the end. Is it a happy ever after or a happy for now?

If you want to try something a little different, enjoy simmering sexual tension and a good dose of humor with your erotic romance, I would absolutely recommend you pick up Laura May Diaries. For me this was a real find and a great few hours lost in a page-turner. I’ll probably read it again!

This book might not be for everyone. It’s not a light and easy read. There are strong emotions and some serious issues dealt with in the pages. At first I pitied Reese. Legacy, Book 6

Myths and legends are more than just passing interests for Sonia Agostino. She holds degrees in folklore and anthropology, and she comes from a family of Keepers, humans charged with helping paranormal creatures survive in the modern world.

Recently, her research—and her intuition—have led her to Chicago’s Inhibitions nightclub. Its enigmatic owner, known only as Damek, could be the one paranormal creature she has never seen. A vampire. Except he won’t see her.

Damek has good reason to refuse an audience with Sonia. One look at her and his gut reaction is she’s a serious threat to the simple, highly disciplined routine that keeps his bloodlust in check. Worse, she has unwittingly led vampire hunters far too close for comfort.

Yet when she stubbornly shows up at the nightclub a second time, he cannot refuse her. The force of their attraction explodes with erotic power—and danger. For when Sonia discovers that her suspicions were true, she finds her loyalties unexpectedly tested. And her choice will forever change both their lives.

Dr. Sonia Agostino has studied legends and folklore all her life. She knows something most people don’t: the creatures of fantasy – werewolves, vampire and such – actually do exist. She has first hand knowledge of some, but the one being she has always wanted to encounter is a vampire, and her research has led her to Chicago, and to a club called Inhibitions. She believes the owner, Damek, may be just what she has been searching for: the elusive vampire.

At first, Damek refuses to meet with her, but her persistance pays off when Damek becomes fascinated by her. Sonia is disappointed, though, because Damek could not possibly be a vampire. After all, she has seen him during daylight hours, something no vampire Is supposed to be able to handle. As Sonia becomes the target for the hunters, Damek does everything in his power to keep her safe. As they spend time together, he learns of the organization her family established, The Keepers, a group created to help paranormal beings live in harmony and safety alongside human society, and protect them from exposure. The more time Damek spends with Sonia, the more he comes to respect, trust and finally care for her. And there is something more than human about Sonia, but she is keeping that secret, as it is not actually hers to share. Can Damek protect Sonia from the hunters, while keeping his heart uninvolved? As they grow ever closer, will Sonia be the one to fill Damek’s empty heart and love him the way he wants? Can these two find a happy ever after in spite of the odds?

Damek’s Redemption is the latest in N.J. Walters’ Legacy series, and a wonderful addition to the line. I have always liked this world of fantasy mixed with reality, where your neighbor might be more than just the hot guy next door. This is the first of the series that doesn’t prominently feature the wolves, but focuses instead on the ancient vampire who is their friend and ally. Damek is old, one of the oldest, and I have waited for his story to be told. I like the edge in this, and the sense of things just waiting to happen around every corner.

Sonia Agostino is a smart, determined and strong woman. She has been wanting to meet a vampire, and hopes Damek is what she has been searching for. I loved that, for all her research and intelligence, she doesn’t realize that older vampires don’t follow ‘the rules’ and can be active during daylight hours. She also has secret of her own: she isn’t quite fully human, and it shows in her enhanced senses. I enjoyed watching as she discovered that Damek was more than she ever expected, and as she decided to reach out and accept all that he offers. I liked watching the two interact, and she was more than a match for Damek as they verbally sparred.

Damek is one of the oldest vampires in existence; old enough that he doesn’t fit the stereotypes seen in most lore and legend. He is lonely, and has been thinking that he has nothing left to look forward to. When Sonia walks into his club, and his life, he finds a new reason to exist, and he discovers that he can still feel and be happy, that there is a future for him. I enjoyed watching as Damek grows to love Sonia, and his determination to protect her, even while he realizes that he needs to know more about her, and the mysterious Keepers organization. I liked seeing this softer, more vulnerable side to the ‘all powerful’ vampire he shows to everyone.

This story is filled with passion, danger, secrets and some visits with old friends at Haven. The hunters present a clear and violent danger, willing to hurt anyone who gets in their way, paranormal or not. As the hunters close in on Sonia, the action escalates, and it is here where Ms. Walters’ story really shines, with building levels of passion, danger and hidden agendas ready to explode off the page. This has plenty of hot romance, layered with tender and sweet moments, and scorching hot bedroom scenes. The supporting cast, Sonia’s extended family, is superbly crafted, and I would love for Ms. Walters to tell some of their stories now that we have met them. There are some moment of tearful observaion, and moments of pure joy to counter balance, and the ending was perfect for this story. I do hope Ms. Walters continues the Legacy for a long time to come, and continues to bring new people to join theose we already know and love.

’Tis the season for double seduction.

The only item on Jana Colton’s Christmas list this year is Kevin Monahan. Preferably naked in her bed. The delicious, hunky chef has been resisting her forever, but she’s pulling out all the sexy stops this holiday. Especially since his acceptance of an out-of-state job threatens to nix her quest to rock his boxers off.

Jana has always been Kevin’s personal Kryptonite, but giving in to her isn’t an option. Relationships are a four-letter word in his book. He cares far too much for Jana to let his emotional baggage ultimately break her heart.

With the arrival of his best friend, Nick Pappas, the balance of temptation shifts. From their past history of sharing women, Nick knows every dirty trick it takes to lead Kevin astray, and he’s not afraid to use them. Particularly since Nick’s convinced that Jana is exactly what Kevin needs to be happy and whole.

Their game of seduction quickly snowballs into something that feels an awful lot like love—in triplicate. But with Kevin dead set on leaving Michigan, there’s a real possibility it could be a blue Christmas for them all.

Jana Colton has only one thing on her Christmas Wish list this year: Kevin Monahan. He has been evading her attempts to seduce him for at least five years, but this year, she is determined to show him how much she wants him. Sexy master chef Kevin can’t afford to let Jana get close, because she is his one weakness, and he would die before seeing her get hurt. And with his sordid and shameful past, he can’t see things going any other way. Jana runs the adult shop in town, and when one of her suppliers surprises her with an in person sales visit, Jana discovers that love, in her case, comes in twos. How can she love Kevin so much, and still want the devilishly wicked Nick Pappas? Things get really complicated when she learns that Kevin and Nick were best friends for most of their life, until one misunderstanding and Kevin’s secrets came between them. Nick wants it all: Jana and Kevin, and a happy ever after with them both. Can Jana and Nick break down the walls around Kevin’s heart, and convince him he should stay with them?

In Checking It Twice, Jodi Redford brings us back to the world from her holiday book from last year, The Naughty List. The main female here is the younger sister of one of her heroes in that one. I enjoy visiting this world, with its friendly people, and hot adventures. I enjoyed catching up with Lacey, Bram and Ryan and their growing family, and watch as Jana tries to have what she wants, not just for the holidays, but for always.

Jana Colton is smart, successful in business, and determined to have it all. She isn’t afraid to go after what she wants, and pulls out all the stops to get a reaction from Kevin. I liked that she isn’t afraid of her sexuality, and puts everything she has out there, risking her heart and happiness, even though Kevin is determined to move to Las Vegas to keep from hurting her. I loved watching as she discovered things about herself that surprised her, but she accepted her exhibitionist side once Nick brought it out. I liked that she refuses to back off, and she fights dirty to keep Kevin in town.

Kevin Monahan has a painful and bitter past, with shameful secrets that haunt him and prevent him from giving in to Jana. I enjoyed watching as he fought to keep her at arm’s length, and loved it when she was able to breach his defenses, time and again. Kevin’s secret kink is watching, and when Nick Pappas shows up in town, things escalate to sizzling in a hot minute. Nick’s kink is exhibitionism, and along with Jana’s similar streak, they batter at Kevin’s walls until they come shattering down around his wounded heart. Watching the lengths Nick will go to help heal his friend and bring love to both of them is a delight – and really hot as well.

Ms Redford doesn’t dwell on the secrets from Kevin’s past, other than to give a glimpse into what caused him to be the way he is, shut off from love. There are several tear jerker moments in this one as well, balanced with some laugh out loud moments, and lots of screaming hot sex in strange and sometimes public places. The characters in this are all deliciously detailed, and the fun in this is never knowing what these three will do next. This is a holiday story for those who want to heat up the holidays, and love their romance in multiples. One warning, though, be prepared for just about anything, and keep the fan on high.
