Beautiful and ambitious, Shannon Erby is nothing short of picture-perfect in front of the cameras but her personal life is anything but flawless…

Television’s darling Shannon Erby believes her beauty and fame are both a blessing and a curse. Despite personal sacrifices, Shannon’s proud of her illustrious career…almost as much as her demanding mother is. Her glitzy, high-profile job keeps her moving in all the right circles but it’s lonely at the top. She’s tired of dating, disappointed more often than not by men only interested in bedding show biz’s ‘it girl’ but attraction sparks the instant she meets Jay Dax, a handsome executive chef she’s convinced to be on her new show.

Jay Dax has wanted Shannon since their first encounter and unexpected kiss. Dedicated to his burgeoning career and the well-being of his willful sister, Jay hasn’t given his lack of time for romance a second thought until now. He can’t get enough of Shannon’s sweet and sexy nature and he’s almost certain she craves him as much he does her.

Jay stirs up a hunger in Shannon she’s never known but she goes into an emotional tailspin when she is faced with a terrifying diagnosis. She shuts Jay out, despite her feelings, determined not to involve him, especially after learning of his experience with her frightening secret.

She wants to believe there is more than just great sex between them, but that would mean putting the strength of their connection to the test. Does she dare trust her heart and Jay’s promise to protect it?

Shannon Erby is the definition of being a strong woman. She has a promising career as a co-host, and well loved by her friends and coworkers. She’s single and beautiful and would make an impressive mate for any man.

At first the book started out as a normal read but as the plot went on the characters became more real and more of their personal lives were developed.

I enjoyed the storyline, the set up is believable and one that is easy to follow. The characters are well developed and given a sense of realness. The issues and circumstances were ones that could touch any reader reading this book. This holds very true for myself. As I was reading the chapter where Shannon is at the doctor discussing the results of her biopsy, I was waiting to have a biopsy done. Though at that moment I stopped reading because it was unnerving to be in a situation so similar to the character I was reading about.

Following Shannon’s results the author painted a vivid picture of Shannon’s story that I could actually picture her during her moments of questioning why her, her moments of wanting to hide. Thankfully those moments passed and she found her strength and bravery. This really touched me and though Shannon is a fictitious character, her issue is one of a real woman that is facing real life health issues. Though my biopsy results were not favorable I am glad I read this story. Shannon’s story left an impression that I will be able to reflect back on.

I felt that Jay and Shannon physical relationship took off pretty fast, but I was so happy that they both were on the same accord. Jay is such a sweetheart to continuously support and save his sister when she ask, even though she got on my nerves always calling Jay for her financial needs. Shannon’s mother is another character that stayed on my nerves but I’m sure at least one reader can relate to having a mother that can’t help but meddle in their adult child’s life.

This story has two of my favorite things delicious food and a hot man cooking it! I like the balance of personal life and work life. The chef reality show is a nice addition that makes for an entertaining and fun read.

A heartfelt book of emotions that were so poignant they left a lasting impression. In addition, I would like to thank the author for a well written lasting experience.

Though this story reflects the ordeal I am facing and that a lot of women have faced, fault, survived and unfortunately a few readers may have even lost someone close to breast cancer, Nichelle has given readers a glimpse into one woman’s story that could very well be an encouraging story to someone that may actually need to read this.

For more than two months, Union General William Rosecrans and his Army of the Cumberland pursued General Braxton Bragg’s Confederate Army of Tennessee from Murfreesboro to Chattanooga. Finally, on September 18, 1863, on the banks of a small river in Northwest Georgia, the two great armies came face to face, and so began three days of hell, including the two bloodiest days of our nation’s Civil War.

Three Days in Hell is a novel, a work of fiction, based on actual historical events. The characters, with one exception, were all real people. The words they speak throughout the story are the author’s, the deeds they did, their success and failures, are their own. Drawing on many years of meticulous research, Blair Howard dramatizes one man’s contribution to the stunning Confederate victory at Chickamauga. Brigadier General Bushrod R. Johnson was the key player for the army in gray.

The most common thing that could bring about ringing in the ears levitra 60 mg being an unwanted effect.
This is the story of Confederate General Johnson’s three days at Chickamauga, and his grand and glorious charge of more than a mile that smashed through the enemy lines and resulted in a resounding victory for the Confederate cause and an ignominious defeat for General Rosecrans. Even Johnson’s enemies praised what he did that day. Some compared it to Pickett’s Charge at Gettysburg, but where Pickett failed, Johnson succeeded.

Three Days in Hell, action-packed from start to finish, is the story of Confederate General Bushrod Johnson’s Chickamauga as told through the eyes and words of one of his staff officers, Major Chester Rigby. The author takes you onto the battlefield as no one has done before. He plunges you right into the center of the action, which doesn’t let up until the very end. It’s a story of heroism, desperate deeds, and death and destruction on a scale the likes of which had never been seen before.

This is a gritty, in-your-face, real look at what the Southern soldiers during the Civil War went through during the Battle of Chickamauga, the second-worse battle of the war. Except for the first-person narrator, all of the characters in this book are historic figures. Although the dialogue is, of course, fictional, it is obvious that the author did his homework and studied diaries and letters to get a sense of what the men were thinking and what they truly might have said.

This is not a pretty book, but then war isn’t pretty. For anyone who is interested in Civil War history, this is definitely a book to check out. It gives the reader a real sense of what is going on.

The battle descriptions show a great deal of research as well– but for this reader, those were not the primary draw of the book. The author made the characters come alive and become more than just names in the history book.

Good job!

Capitol K-9 Unit: These lawmen solve the toughest cases with the help of their brave canine partners.

A mystery wrapped in a mystery but which one leads to the HEA? That’s what I found most intriguing about this novel. The one that involved Lana and Adam is all over the place in the beginning but towards the end, I could see which way it was heading. I didn’t mind the other one not being resolved because I clearly got the picture that there was another case, another hero, who was going to have to deal with it. Adam and Lana had enough to deal with in Duty Bound Guardian.

The interesting thing about this book was set up. The author took time for a reader to understand the demons that drove both the hero and heroine and it was easy to see how both their pasts affected their present. I liked how the author showed Adam and Lana, in turn, seeing the strengths of the other person as they battle to stay alive and solve the case. I saw their trust grow, the attraction simmer and the best part is how Ace, the K-9 officer and Adam’s partner, played a major role, like an equal character, in the novel. I’ve seen K-9 officers in action and they truly are an amazing team in real life and I could relate. A police officer and his canine partner really are inseparable. That loyalty comes in handy many times throughout the story.

The most Adam and Lana do that physically shows when their extreme attraction for each other combusts and passion overcomes them, is kiss. It was enough to satisfy me that the chemistry is smoking hot but they toed the line because of the seriousness of their situation. It was realistic in that regard. Then again, they both have a strong sense of faith in God and quite a few times they ask/pray for strength and guidance, and a little saving especially when the bullets fly. It’s not overdone at all, instead it provides a healthy dose of grounding, which reminds me, that even when things are at their worst, comfort can come from a higher source, and it can see a person through.

I think I might have guessed as to whom the bad guy was, but I wasn’t sure because the author, through use of her characters, kept throwing me off of the scent. In the end, the heroine was just as shocked as I was. I liked that.

Duty Bound Guardian is a clever read with heart pounding action. It was entertaining, exciting and I really enjoyed myself. I’d recommend this to all romance suspense readers who don’t want to read a huge tome but want a quick edgy read that affects their breathing in all the best ways. It’s a solid recommend.

Fast forward to modern day, Jenna Parker attends a class trip to Wolf Mountain. During this trip Jenna’s secret comes to a horrifying reality which triggers a chain of events that challenge everything Jenna knows and understands. From Ruth Larkins, the investigating Social Worker to the mysterious Mr. Pike who can control a crowd of people with his simple soothing voice; Jenna is caught in a snowstorm of confusion and frustration in a world controlled by adults. Jenna comes to realize the awful truth that not only does her father harbor his own secrets; he and Mr. Pike know exactly why her mother killed herself.

This is the second Vertigo novel I’ve read and I enjoyed being reunited with many of the characters from the first book, especially the main character, Jenna Parker.

The first part of Snowstorm goes back in time and is almost like a separate story, but does give insight into what’s been happening in Vertigo and to Jenna.

The second half of the book focuses on Jenna and her father. They’re about to go on a school trip that doesn’t end well for her. More of her secrets are slowly uncovered, new characters are introduced, and it sets the stage for what will be book three in the series.

Although I have to admit, I did like the first book more than this one because it focused more on Jenna who is a character that’s very likeable. Just like the previous story, you feel an empathy with this young girl who is still a child but seems to have the weight of the world on her shoulders. I think the first person narration really does pull you in and you feel yourself cheering her on and hoping that she stays safe.

This book has a more paranormal feel to it, but like the first one, has fast pacing and lots of interesting secondary characters.

Although this could be read as a standalone book, I think it get a full appreciation of the characters and plot, you need to read book one, The Secret, before tackling Snowstorm. And if you’re a horror fan looking for something different or like lots of paranormal elements in a horror story, this might be the series for you.

The Divine Series by Heather Rainier is one of my favorite series. I could never get tired of it because of the way the author keeps each book fresh and unique. I have to say that Bunny and the Beast is one of my favorite stories yet.

The main reason that I loved this book so much was how the characters stood out. Bunny was righteously funny and she kept Joseph the big bad Dom on his toes. Then factor in that Joseph was so sweet toward Bunny, and it just melted my heart to goo. Not to forget that for all of Bunny’s sass and charm was a vulnerability that gets me every time. So the author had me hooked with these two characters, and that was before I even got to the steamy intimate parts and the BDSM elements.

Now, as usual, Heather Rainier’s writing style was simply wonderful. Her characterization was spot on, Bunny and Joseph were beautifully vibrant and pulled me right into the story. Bunny was a strong heroine, spunky with a touch of vulnerability. Joseph was honest with her from the start about what he expected from the relationship. The entire story was easily paced and the writing quality was every bit as excellent as I had expected. It was probably the most fun read in the series and I enjoyed it very much.

Bunny and the Beast was a very hot read with the BDSM aspect. It was also a multifaceted read that had more than a few laughs and some serious trope that came along from Bunny’s past. The plot hit all the right buttons to keep me interested. I highly recommend this novel, and the series, to anyone who likes a more explicit read that is still a quality story. I look forward to the next book in this wonderful series.

But when an internal investigation points to her, he realizes Judith may not be the innocent she appears. Left wondering if he’s been duped by a pretty face and bewitching smile, Carlos finds himself torn between his obligations to Royal Courts or protecting the woman who’s already stolen his heart.

On the run from her past and forced into hiding, Judith is faced with two choices—either let fear define her future or allow love to heal her wounded heart.

This is a story that has been told before but the characterization and in depth dialogue made it one of a kind that surely surpass the average. The humor in the chase of Carlos Moreno, Chief of Security at Royal Courts, won me over. I was so in awe of Carlos and enjoyed his character so much. He was so refreshing, original and a man that you don’t read about often. Carlos is confident and open with his feelings and didn’t mind showing his interest in Judith.

Judith Bell has been employed at Royal Courts for a short time span and she knows she has captured Carlos’s interest but because of her personal reasons she holds fast in not reciprocating Carlos advances. Not wanting to be vulnerable again, but she inadvertent makes a sexier choice in her hair and dress, and believe me Carlos takes notice.

Carlos has let his guard down while on security detail someone has hacked into the system and caused the serves to crash. Carlos has found himself in a dilemma. The question is…Who is responsible?

All I can say is oh my. This book is really hot and much more than what I expected. There is an actual storyline that is well constructed, entertaining and includes the most steamy satisfying love scenes you will ever read. Carlos not only talks a good game, he shows Judith how much he wants her, and he wants to see that same desire for him in her eyes. A man that is willing to please and satisfy and all he requires is that Judith give him her heart. My heart soften just reading about the true protector that Carlos proved to be.

Judith is a woman that has been through a lot in her past. I can understand she wants to live a simple life of just work, and home to her cat, but Carlos has found the queen of his heart and he is not so easily letting her go. Judith is a strong character and yes she made a bad decision under a moment of distress, but overall she is a likable character that I felt deserved happiness.

This is a book that I thoroughly enjoyed and hated to see the story end. I will be adding Lena to my list of author’s to follow. I enjoyed her writing style, her character are well developed, her plot is one of interest mixed with suspense, and a tale that is sure to have the nature of all who read it rise. Raging passion and heartfelt emotions, this is a must read, simple as that!

“On the Edge of Nations” was about a slave and her young daughter who are running away from their master and are very close to finding safety in Indian territory. The characters were incredibly sympathetic and the plot was so quickly paced that I couldn’t tear my eyes away from the page. I was so wrapped up in finding out if these women would escape the men who were searching for them that I couldn’t wait to see what happened to them. Their plight kept me guessing until the last sentence of the final scene.

Some of the stories in this book spent a disproportionate time focusing on what it was that used to be illegal. While I definitely enjoyed reading them, I would have given this collection a much higher rating had they spent more time exploring the characters and setting than showing the readers which common things were once considered to be a crime. “Sisters in Suffrage” was a good example of this. It showed what happened Emily when she decided to join in the fight to give American women the right to vote. The historical details were absolutely fascinating, but they often overshadowed Emily’s experiences and personality. I would have really liked to see more time spent showing how this character reacted to all of the awful things that happened to her and the other protestors in an attempt to make them give up their fight.

One of the things I appreciated the most about “Knocked Up” was how many details about life in the 1950s that the narrator was able to incorporate into the plot. The storyline follows an unmarried teenage girl who has just discovered she is pregnant and is trying to figure out a way to salvage her future and her reputation in a town that doesn’t have any empathy for women in that situation. The characters and their lives were described so vividly and three-dimensionally that I felt as though I were immersed in a full length-novel. I simply didn’t want it to end.

I’d recommend Fiction River: Hidden in Crime to anyone who is in the mood for a creative set of historical mysteries.

How can that not grip a reader by the heartstrings? And then, to find out that the eventual hero and heroine are at odds and should be enemies, how can that dynamic not intrigue and inspire curiosity in a reader? I fell for the plot hook, line and sinker. What an amazing read!

I’m completely serious about the impact this book had on me. Every chapter ended with a cliff hanger that placed Jessa in jeopardy, or it ended with a shocking revelation in which the next chapter had Cooper and Jessa dealing with what it means to their lives, their hopes and dreams. Or, people are getting killed left and right and whenever someone hints at giving Cooper the information he seeks to solve a crime another crime occurs to compound the first one. I was biting my nails, shouting at my e-reader and many times overcome with emotion because Ms. Fossen kept the suspense, urgency and action at a fever pitch. The intensity was amazing!

There is nothing as yummy as two adversaries getting bit by the passion bug and succumbing to their physical attraction. Whenever Cooper and Lana forget themselves and lose control, it’s great reading.

The villain is to be despised. After everything he did and was willing to do is exposed, there is no doubt in my mind that Ms. Fossen created a perfect antagonist. What a demented creep.

The only thing that detracted from a perfect score was the ending. For some readers it might be minor but for me, I didn’t get what I needed. If the ending had been the same in a movie in a theater, I would have left with the jitters of adrenaline. After everything Cooper and Lana went through, almost right up until the teeth clenching end, the HEA wrap up came so quick, my head spun. I needed a bit more follow through, even an epilogue, to calm my heart, be certain that the HEA I read was really going to happen and that the new family-to-be was truly abuzz with love, laughter and for the moment, peace. I didn’t get that and after practically hyperventilating through the novel I needed that smooth-over. Although to be fair, I would never have gotten in that situation if the writing hadn’t been so superb in the first place.

Avid fans of romantic suspense seriously have to consider giving Maverick Sheriff a read. It’s so well done, I don’t know why it’s not been made a movie yet. I’m wowed. I really, really recommend this book!

She just can’t seem to avoid a good murder mystery, no matter how hard she tries.

Ivy Morris owns her own shop in the sleepy town of Martha’s Point. She’s still a little new to the area but already managed to earn the reputation as a trouble-making outsider by the townspeople, except by those she’s helped. However, on the day of her father and stepmother’s wedding, a death occurs and she’s once again plunged into a murder mystery. If that wasn’t enough, she realizes that there’s something fishy going on with the females in this town. They have been jumping on her boyfriend left and right.

The story had a main plot and a sub plot that had me reaching for the book at every chance to find the whys and hows and see how Ivy gets out of this latest scrape. I got the impression it was more of a romantic mystery but it had enough comedic elements to keep it from going down a dark mystery direction.

Ivy wants to fit in the town and be called one of them rather than still being known as as an out-of-towner. So when the murder is discovered, she tries to stay out of it but circumstances do not allow her to do that.

Something Old, Something Dead is not shown as a series in Goodreads but it’s definitely part of a series. Actually, it’s the fourth book in the Ivy Morris mysteries. The first one was Poison Ivy. For readers who like reading the stories from the start to finish this may become slight problem but, this one could also be enjoyed as a separate cozy mystery. A satisfying mystery with a good dose of comedy. This one is an easy recommend.

Who would kill the director of a specialized unit that worked only on the literature of Soren Kierkiegaard? It becomes clearer when the manuscript they were working on comes up missing. It’s not locked in the vault in another locked container. It’s nowhere in the building…

This story digs deep into the historical importance of Kierkiegaard’s work. It was almost too much detail for me. It also dwells on Asperger’s Syndrome. I found that much more interesting. Some of the symptoms of Daniel are the same as my own. That’s because I can be an introvert at times. With Daniel, it was a way of life.

The only way Daniel could hold a job was to focus on his task. He translated meticulously and accurately. He worked alone and had to make himself socialize. He couldn’t carry on a conversation and had trouble understanding a joke or why one he told wasn’t funny. But he doesn’t believe the director planned to die. Since he was almost the last one to see her live, the police come into his life and he has to turn in the shoes he was wearing (he fell down the stairs and hit the wall with his shoes) and he had to give them his DNA. He wasn’t excited about having the swab taken, but he did it.

This story goes way back. Daniel was once briefly engaged to the victim. He knows the family has a secret but he doesn’t know what it is. When he visits a bank deposit box to see what she has left him, it’s his translation of the manuscript and an amber necklace from long ago. His love from his past has left him a message.

This is complex tale with lots of players and various self-interests. There are secrets that have the power to hurt. It begins with a mother’s death, then the son commits suicide and the case gets even more intense. The author does a good job of offering hints and information all along the way. Some are more obvious than others. The ending was interesting and not something you could see forthcoming. It’s well worth a read, especially if you like history.
