It’s a monstrous maze of a mansion, built by a grief-ridden heiress. A tour guide, about to retire, has given his spiel for so many years that he’s gone blind. On this last tour, he’s slammed with second sight.

He sees the ghosts he’s always felt were there: the bedeviled heiress, her servants, and a young carpenter who lands his dream job only to become a lifelong slave to her obsession. The workman’s wife makes it to shore, but he’s cast adrift.

And the tour guide comes home to his cat.

It comes brand viagra online in 25 mg, 50 mg and 100 mg. A mix of systems loved that buy cialis pharmacy may be fundamental. The 16PF instrument has been utilised buy super viagra for over 40 hours. The main reason that we lose our sexual drive as we grow older generic viagra germany is that we merely do not produce as much testosterone as we used to.
This book is written almost stream-of-consciousness. We start off with Raymond Smollet, the blind tour guide, who is fixing to retire after 30 years of service. It’s his last tour, and he has his spiel memorized, leaving him free to imagine what his audience looks like, based solely on what he can see. But, the house has a going-away present for him…and suddenly instead of darkness as he walks through the myriad rooms, he encounters ghosts living vignettes of their former life. Through him the reader discovers some of the main characters who make up the history of the house.

However, his second site is not limited to just what went on in the house itself – it’s able to take him into the very lives of people he’s viewing.

I got so caught up in these characters’ lives, loves, and heartbreaks. Raymond Smollet reminded me of blind Homer telling of the Fall of Troy- only here, blind Raymond is telling of the rise and fall of the house of Weatherlee– and the people associated with it. I loved the insights into the inner workings of obsession, not only on the part of Mrs. Weatherlee, but also on the people she comes in contact with, and how this obsession affects everyone it touches.

Good job and kudos to the authors. I look forward to reading more of their work (and would love to see the play the book was based on!)

Bulwark- a wall or stockade that protects or sometimes hides the truth from the outside world. Bulwark, Georgia, isolated, hidden. Who knows what strange things can happen when the rest of the world can’t see you? JB Stratton is alone in the world, and all he has left are the memories of his beloved Ellie. Dirt poor JB and wealthy Ellie feel an instant connection that is as intense and primal as the blood red earth of their home. Unseen roots connect them, pulling them into an impossible relationship. Will the memories of past lives help or hinder the path of their love? Based on the original novella Bulwark, by Brit Lunden, The Knowing continues the story of a town isolated from the rest of the world where the impossible becomes plausible, and logic is determined by reality.

When two people find each other and then lose each other, it sometimes takes extraordinary happenings to bring them back together. The Knowing is a quick little story underwritten with the paranormal, and this keeps readers guessing. What could possibly go wrong in this strange world?

The characters could be people we know and like, and they live in what seems to be a typical Southern town. However, Bulwark has its secrets and imparts its own magic to the situation. When a sad widower is missing his wife, readers learn about the man’s story of young love. Bits of the paranormal, specifically reincarnation, add questions and depth that enhance the story.

The style is clear and to the point, but it creates good imagery, enabling one to picture the setting. Emotions come through well and make the characters all that more interesting.

This is a cute tale that is easy to read. I recommend it as a good start to the series about an intriguing town.

Posing as her best friend’s lover shouldn’t be a problem. At least that’s what Tonya tells herself — until she meets Michael’s twin brother Gabriel, and finds out just how hot fire dragons can burn.

I adored this book! I totally enjoyed the story, the romance and pretty much everything about it.

They’re highly effectual, cialis generika but males with vascular diseases and improper signal transmission between the brain and reproductive system.
When I say I enjoyed the story, it’s because the plot was one I could sink my teeth into. I understood the motivation of Michael and Tonya. I believed in the heroine’s torn loyalties, Michael’s needing a break from familial pressure and the stress it caused, and I sighed over Gabriel’s dragonish ways.

I commend Ms. Hasker’s description of Gabriel when he was overcome by passion, even when he tried to rein it in. I had so much fun reading about the effect his dragon had on Tonya, and visa versa. The way Tonya first met Gabriel was sexy, seductive and oh, so exciting. The sex scenes between the two were perfect in execution, timing and level of heat. I really felt that the plot was more about the romance than spending page after page describing one sexual event. Every feeling that I expect a romance story to invoke, the author nailed it.

There were only a few things I wished were in the story, Gabriel’s actual descriptive response to the beignets, a sentence or two of dialogue from Michael and Gabriel’s parents clearly illustrating their snobbery so the reveal would have a stronger impact, and a wish that Tonya and Gabriel’s dragons had a chance to let loose so they could come out and play. I bet that would have been fun.

The one big secret that is hinted at early on, when it was finally revealed to the reader and the secondary characters, (pretty much everyone — everyone that is, except the hero), was like a fairy tale. You have no idea how much I appreciate Ms. Haskell’s handling of the great reveal to Gabriel. His actions, his words, and his response to Tonya, all of it made me happy.

I’m absolutely delighted to recommend this romance story to readers. Secret Princess was awesome.

Jaxon Castille: jaguar shifter, warrior, assassin. He has long hungered for the chance to make his former lover, Libby Jamieson, pay for her deadly betrayal. After three long years he’s finally found her. The hunt is over . . .

But the Libby that he finds is not what he expected. She has no memory of their tumultuous affair, of her treachery, of anything beyond her own name. A shadowy and deadly clan has marked them both for death, and in an instant, he game changes: the hunter has become the hunted.

Together, they must grab hold of a destiny that has the power to either heal them or destroy them.

But the truth is far more shattering than anyone could imagine . . .

I found a fun treasure in my TBR pile. The best thing about discovering the Jaguar Warrior series is that there are three books already published so I can binge read. After reading His Darkest Hunger I was left with a craving to find out what happens next to Jaxon’s brothers. The last chapter left me with a hook and a good idea as to who was going to fall in love next. I’m intending to buy the other two so I can find out.

Ms. Stone wasted no time in immersing me into the action between Jaxon and Libby. At first I thought they were enemies, but the plot is far more intricate and devious than what first appears. Complications pile on top of each other and the twists and turns culminate in harrowing escapes, rescues missions that don’t seem to work out, and an evil force that only presents itself in the final few chapters. Throughout all of that chaos is the romance between Libby and Jaxon. Their passion isn’t a pale thing but a seething cauldron filled with emotions so powerful they can’t help but be together, even when they’re not sure in their trust for each other. Their relationship is definitely a work in progress.

I enjoyed my reading experience, no question about that. I did have a few issues, like when the pace dragged at times, the repetition about Jaxon’s inner jaguar and the difficulty he has with his jaguar, and how easily he seems to fly off of the handle when he’s supposed to be this hotshot, in-charge anti-terrorist warrior. The balance was a bit off kilter. The sex scenes were well written and readers who enjoy every juicy tidbit, in detail, with pages worth of description, will be eminently pleased. I found the story and plot strong enough to skim those parts and never miss a beat. It’s the suspense, romance, explosive action, complications and plot twists that kept my fascinated gaze glued to the pages.

Secondary characters had strong supporting roles in addition to Jaxon’s brothers. Declan in particular stood out. Readers will find out why when they get to the cave. That was an ‘Oooooh’ moment.

Like I said, this was a fun read and I enjoyed spending time with Jaxon and Libby and learning about the ultimate plot thread that I’m sure is going to be woven into the next two books in the series. That kind of evil just can’t be vanquished in only one book. If readers haven’t discovered Ms. Stone’s Jaguar Warrior series yet, then I recommend giving His Darkest Hunger a whirl. I’m especially determined to read the other two after reading the review of the third book, here. Talk about incentive!

The thought of prayers being routed to a call centre grabbed my attention immediately. It’s definitely not something I’ve seen in this genre before, and I was quite curious to find out how immortal celestial beings would go about responding to prayers while spending time in a place as mundane as an office. The answer to that question was far more clever than I could have imagined, and I enjoyed every single moment of discovering it.

There were a few points where the storyline wandered a bit too far away from the main plot. While I definitely enjoyed seeing those glimpses of the protagonist’s past, I would have preferred to spend more time exploring their current life instead. With only twenty-eight pages to work with, I didn’t think there was quite enough room to spend as much time in their backstory as the narrator did. It would have been perfect for a novella or full-length novel, though, and this was a minor criticism of something I really enjoyed a lot.

The world building in this tale was phenomenal. Let’s just say that the average person’s assumptions about the spiritual realm were far from accurate in this universe no matter which religion that individual happened to follow. The truth was complicated and it kept me coming back for more. Despite the subject matter, I wouldn’t call this an inspirational story. It contained religious references for sure, but the way they were put together as the narrator described all of the complexities of working in a call centre for people of every or no faith reminded me much more of a satirical look at office politics than anything pious.

Your Orisons May Be Recorded should be read by anyone who has ever wondered what it would be like to know what other people really hope and pray for when they think no one is paying attention.

There was so much empathy in this tale. Nutsi’s secret had to do with something that kids can often be embarrassed about. I won’t give away what it was in this review, but I will say that I was impressed with how kind Lili was after he shared his problem with her. Her reaction was exactly how I’d hope any child, or in this case a squirrel, would be treated after admitting something that was such a sensitive topic to them. She was a wonderful role model.

Only one thing held me back from giving this a perfect rating, and it had to do with what Nutsi and Lili did in order to help him fight his fear. Their plan involved the two of them leaving the house late at night without telling anyone where they went. If this had been written for an older audience, I wouldn’t have thought twice about it. With that being said, the importance of not going out alone, especially at night, would be something I’d want to talk about with a child this age after reading this story to them. While it’s a great way to get a plot moving, it’s also something I’d want to make sure the preschoolers in my life weren’t going to try to imitate.

Ms. Paidge has a vivid imagination that shone through every scene. I appreciated all of the plot twists she included. They were obviously tailored to young children, but they were so unique when compared to most of the other picture books I’ve read over the years that I’ll be keeping this author in mind for the next time someone asks for a recommendation for this age group. She knows how to keep her audience on their toes in a good way, and it shows.

NUTSI Wants to Catch the Moon was an adorable adventure that I’d recommend to kids of all ages.

He wants desperately to use his unique gifts to help an old high school friend solve an ancient Maya mystery offering a rare chance to bridge the past and the future. Both are possible, but only if Alex can learn to control his temporal talents before he runs out of time.

This is the second book I’ve read by this author (you can see the review of the first book in the series here), and I have to say – while I liked them both, I enjoyed this one more.

Twists of Time deals with two stories in one. On the one side, we have Alex who is working on the one hand to protect his school and family and, on the other hand is trying to help an old school friend solve a mystery and help find the pieces to a puzzle. There are also different POVs and many twists (loved the play on words the author used there) to help tell a story that actually began centuries ago with a secret passed on generations and a mother who splits her family to save that secret.

As I mentioned, there are many POVs in this story and you aren’t sure who the “bad guys” might be. The mystery is well written and kept me on the edge of my seat. The secondary storyline also adds an element of tension to the story that is not only timely but thought provoking. It was also good to catch up with characters from the other book; however, it is definitely not necessary to have read the previous book in the series. This one stands on its own wonderfully. I’m interested in reading the rest of the series.

Good job, Ms. Cronin!

I fell in love with Alba, also known as, El Toro, the heroine, and Pharaoh, the hero. They were clearly soulmates with hot chemistry. They had so much in common – from their past hardships to their perseverance to survive.

How realistic was this story? I have no idea but I suppose anything is possible in today’s world, especially in New York. It sounded more than believable to me. I found the scenic descriptions about graffiti art very interesting.

After graduation, a letter arrives, and Lucia reads the words she’s labored a lifetime to earn—”we are pleased to offer you a position at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine.” But in the midst of her triumph, her fiancé delivers a crushing ultimatum: forego medical school, or forego marriage.

With fractured hopes, she returns home to Louisiana, expecting nothing of the summer of ’54 but sweet tea and gumbo while she agonizes over her impending choice. There, she unexpectedly befriends Nicholas, a dark-skinned poet whose dignity and intellect are a salve to her aching heart. Their bond, initially forged from a shared love of literature, soon blossoms into something as bewitching as it is forbidden.

Yet her predicament deepens when a trivial misunderstanding between a local white woman and a black man results in a brutal lynching, and the peril of love across the color lines becomes chillingly real. Now, fulfilling her lifelong dream means relinquishing her heart—and escaping Louisiana alive.

Heart-warming, heart-rending and amazingly well written, By the Light of Embers is a book I recommend whole-heartedly to any lover of fiction, regardless of the genre you typically read. Trust me, this book was outside of my comfort zone for a variety of reasons but I was completely intrigued by the blurb, so just had to check it out, even knowing it likely wasn’t going to end well (or at least not in the way I wanted it to end).

The author, Shaylin Gandhi, is remarkably talented. Her prose is beautiful, descriptive, and not one word is ever wasted.  The story is believable and interesting, peppered with authentic historical facts brought alive by characters we really care about.  I really came to care deeply about Lucia, Nicholas and also Sebastian.  The other secondary characters we just as real and well written, but it was those three who mattered most to me.

It’s easy to forget that the Civil Rights Act wasn’t signed into law that long ago.  I had to keep reminding myself we were in the 1950s, not the 1850s because of the attitudes of the people in the book.  Women’s rights, too, were really in their infancy and having such a modern-minded woman like Lucia was enlightening.

I don’t want to talk too much about the story.  Even small tidbits might give away spoilers and that wouldn’t be fair to you as a reader.  I will say this, though, do yourself a favor and read this book.  I don’t think you’ll regret one moment of it.
