As the English Civil War divides England and tears families apart, Kinton Lacey castle is one of the brave few loyal to the roundhead cause.

With her father away, Deliverance Felton will do whatever it takes to defend her family home against the royalist forces ranged against it. She can shoot and wield a sword as well as any man and anything she needs to know about siege warfare she has learned from a book…but no book can prepare her for what is to come.

Captain Luke Collyer, soldier of fortune and a man with his own reasons for loyalty to the parliamentary cause, is sent to relieve the castle. Everything he knows about siege warfare in general and women in particular he has learned from experience, but when it comes to Deliverance Felton has he met his match?

Deliverance will not give up her command lightly and Luke will have to face a challenge to his authority as fierce as the cavalier foe outside the walls. He will do whatever it takes to win Deliverance’s trust but will he run the risk of losing his own, well guarded, heart?

I found this bit of history in the making fascinating and I really loved the people involved. The King’s men against the rebels reminded me very much of our own American Revolution with our rebels against the King.

Deliverance and her sister, Patience lived in a castle which was under attack by the King’s men. Captain Luck Collyer is sent by their father to help protect them. They are so outnumbered I could not imagine how they could possibly manage to defeat the enemy. They are, however, prepared to fight to the death against all odds.

This is not, however, a depressing story. It is full of fun and conflict between Luke and Deliverance. She had been in charge of the castle and was not willing to give it up to him. I loved the interaction between them. It is wonderful, fun and unique. She was not the typical mousy woman that he had expected to find. I smiled a lot while reading about the conflict between them, and even laughed out loud a couple of times.

Throughout the siege there are two beautiful love stories. Yes two, although one is not mentioned as often. I enjoyed them both. There is also a lot of fighting, death and destruction from the very beginning, which is to be expected. However, all the fighting is important to the story line, and not just thrown in to explain the war. This author also lets you feel the hope for the future in the story.

This story doesn’t end the way I expected — it ends even better! Honestly, I loved this story.

Two identical twin sisters – one a sexually repressed defense attorney, the other a former libertine now living a respectable life in suburbia – are about to have their darkest secrets revealed, to the men in their lives and to themselves. As one sister prepares for the thorniest trial of her career and the other fends off ominous advances from a construction worker laboring on the house next door, both find themselves pushed to the edge, and confronted by discoveries about themselves and their lovers that shock and disturb them.

Two sisters embark on inner journeys that will dredge up the inner most secrets of their lives.

Leda and Lillian are two sisters that seem at first glance to be complete polar opposites. One is a successful attorney seemingly content with her life; the other is a former porn star who has settled down in the middle of suburbia.

In September 2008, Richmond International Raceway announced on a Friday afternoon that it was moving a Saturday generika cialis night Sprint Cup race to Sunday afternoon because of a tropical-storm forecast. Sex, of course, varies & the exhilaration & stress may non prescription viagra well pump out additional adrenaline. It is clear that nerve signals from the gut area is not just responsible for digestion but is at least partially implicated in many discount viagra brain disorders has lead scientists to understand what Taoists and Yogis have been saying for thousands of years. Leda and her husband Stas have just moved into their new house. When domestic bliss is interrupted by facilities issues, the handyman working for their neighbor comes to the rescue. Only…is it what it seems or is he really using their house problems to stalk Leda? Pregnant with a young child, Leda becomes increasingly afraid of Jack. Her husband, Stas is equally thrilling and terrifying. Leda is hiding some secrets from her very sexy younger husband and Jack has just figured out who she used to be. Should she tell Stas about her past, but even more importantly, about Jack? What will he do? It seems like her Russian husband has a few skeletons in his own closet.

This first part of the book was rife with bitterness and complex emotions that one would have moving into a new house. Neither husband nor wife know everything about the other and as Leda becomes more and more terrified everything is magnified for her. The sex with her husband, the fear of what he will do to her when he finds out about her very naughty video. When Jack winds up missing, she is almost certain Stas had something to do with it. Every nerve ending is thrilled with the concept of loving such a dangerous man. But…did he really do it?

The second half of the book is about Lillian, Leda’s very repressed sister. Lil is married to Darren, but their marriage has been reduced to timing their marital activities to try to conceive. It breaks her heart that Leda is already has one child and is expecting another when she can’t even get pregnant. Completely bound by her own expectations, Lillian is very uptight and angry. When she finds Leda’s porn video hidden in Darren’s things, she loses it. Confronting him only adds another layer of ice on the glacier.

The matter is made more complex by the current case Lillian is working on. Abel is a blind developer accused of taking a bribe. His assistant Nan is always present and there is something between the two of them that strikes a chord in Lillian. Abel is a married man, but she can see Nan always there…until she isn’t. Nan is devoted to Abel in a way that he can barely understand. A professional submissive, Nan will do anything for him and in doing so could either damn him to prison or save him completely. If only he hadn’t cast her away. Lillian learns more about Nan and is drawn to it, even as she is repulsed by the sexuality of it.

Lillian begins a journey into Nan’s world, wanting to satisfy a compulsion that started when she watched Leda’s video. What is the fascination with BDSM? Why would a woman want to be submissive and subjected to the things that go on at the Nutcracker, the local dungeon? Lillian is about to embark on a soul wrenching voyage into her own inner darkness, but doing so will allow her to embrace her own demons and finally be able to set herself free.

These two stories wound themselves together seamlessly and I could not get enough. The old style cover brought to mind stories of the 1970s, as did some of the language. Not much mind you. Just when I felt myself drifting back in time, a modern phrase would remind me “when” I was. The complex relationship between sisters is also highlighted here. Love…hate…jealousy…bitterness. It’s all there, ripped open and gasping for air. Leda with her family while Lillian weeps alone in her cold marriage bed—it’s reality. We always want what the other has, even when it makes us feel petty and spiteful. That is the hidden gem inside of this amazing book. Elissa Wald scrapes across every emotion and makes it real. The book is classified as erotic, but there really isn’t much in the way of actual sex scenes. It is the heightened sexual tension and the discovery of the darker, meatier sides of married women as vibrant beings that puts the spark in this tale. Just don’t forget the dangerous men that share their beds. That would be very remiss indeed and you might have to be punished.

If you are looking for a different kind of read that will want to make you cuff yourself to the bed, then you have to try The Secret Lives of Married Women.

Striking the right note could shatter more than their hearts.

After an attack that slaughtered his family, vampire Dragan Zajicek walled off his heart and went on a sixteen-hundred-year rampage with the bad boys of history.

Now a rock star of the concert podium and master freelance spy, he’s taken the baton for a small orchestra near Chicago to investigate rumors of a monstrous, undefeatable vampire dubbed the Soul Stealer.

But it’s the lovely, unassuming Raquel “Rocky” Hrbek who mesmerizes him from the first touch of her luscious lips on her flute.

Rocky, a shy shadow scarred by middle school cruelty, is mystified as to why core-meltingly gorgeous Dragan would notice a mouse like her. As his stolen kisses draw her dangerously close to the edge of her carefully constructed comfort zone, he exposes her secret—she’s investigating the monster herself.

As their quest draws them closer together, the monster zeroes in on the woman Dragan’s rebellious heart tells him is his mate. Now they must find a way to destroy the indestructible before Rocky is utterly consumed. And Chicago is bathed in the blood of innocents.

Downbeat is the latest offering in the Biting Love series of Mary Hughes. Filled with the quirks and kitsch present in this series, Downbeat offers readers a glimpse into the Meiers Corners society, both human and vampire.

Meiers Corners is home to quaint old world German sensibilities, quirky characters and hotbed of vampire activity. When the conductor of the small orchestra that has its home in the area is incapacitated, a guest conductor comes to work with them, world renowned Maestro Dragan Zajicek. Flutist Raquel ‘Rocky’ Hrbek has followed his career, and can’t quite believe he is there to lead them. She also know things about Meiers Corners that her friends have tried to keep quiet; the existence of vampires in their quirky little town. She is fascinated by Dragan, and he is attracted to Rocky, in spite of his belief that he is not worthy of finding love, believing he failed his family centuries before.

When danger, in the form of a super powerful Soul Stealer vampire, comes to the area, it will take all that the vampires of the Iowa Coalition cam muster to find this vampire’s weakness in order to defeat him. Can Dragan, Rocky and the rest of the Coalition stop the Soul Stealer before the monster destroys them all? Will Rocky be able to resist Dragan’s romantic advances, and does she even want to? Can Dragan get over the past and grab his one chance at true love and happiness with Rocky?

The world Ms. Hughes has created keeps expanding, reaching out to include more of the unique residents of the town, and adding to the vampire population as well. I enjoy this world for the humor and romance, and this has the added benefit of showing readers, finally, a peek at the elusive leader of the coalition, Mr. Elias.

Raquel ‘Rocky’ Hrbek is quiet, shy and unassuming, with no idea how attractive and tempting she is. When Dragan pursues her, she doesn’t understand his attention, but she is willing to go along, because she has idolized the Maestro for years. Rocky knows about vampires in her town, although her friends have tried to keep her in the dark. I enjoyed watching as Dragan slowly penetrated Rocky’s defenses, and brought her out of her shell. I also love Rocky’s attempts to get her friends to admit to what she already knows, that vampires exist and walk among the citizens of Meiers Corners. I love her references to ‘v-guys’ throughout the book, and the many ways her friends try to distract her.

Dragan Zajicek is handsome, daring and strong. Due to his past, he believes he is not worthy of being loved, and sees himself alone for the rest of his very long life. When he meets Rocky, he realizes she is his one true love, but is not willing to be more than a temporary fling for her. I loved watching as he and Rocky grew closer, and the many ways he showed Rocky how special she is to him. And it was a delight to see Rocky work through his issues, and finally convince this strong, risk taking and courageous vampire to take one more chance…on love.

This book features the most dangerous enemy of the ‘good v-guys’ to ever appear in the Biting Love series, the Soul Stealer. He is almost invincible, and it takes everyone working together to finally find his weaknesses and defeat him. I liked catching up with old friends such as Nixie, Elena and the vampires they love, and I was delighted with the first real glimpse of the elusive Mr. Elias, and what an intriguing glimpse that turned out to be. Of course, there is plenty of steamy passion, and sexy interludes in unusual places for Rocky and Dragan, and there’s a double date with Rocky’s mom as part of the second couple that is a really hilarious bit of adventure. This one made me laugh out loud, brought me to tears, and made me sigh at the more than happy ending. I highly recommend this one, as well the rest of Ms. Hughes’ Biting love series. Be prepared to laugh, cry, giggle, sigh and fall in love with Meiers Corners.

But her double-life hasn’t gone unnoticed—she has captivated none other than Demon Damon, a nefarious rake who understands Wendy’s darkest desires and is hell bent on luring her into his arms.

What this groom wants, he’s not about to stop until he gets.

I was given the honor of reading another book in this series and I’m glad. What the Groom Wants is fantastic and a wonderful addition to the series. The writing is crisp and flows well. I was thoroughly engrossed for three hours and couldn’t put the novel down.

Where do I begin with this book? The complexity. The characters aren’t easily picked apart and the plot? Holy plot twists, Batman. Yeah, you have to keep on your toes. To a degree, there are a lot of characters. It is the second book in a series, so a lot of characters is expected. But each has a very important role. At various times, I laughed, wanted to bonk characters over the head and cringed and then smiled again.

Wendy Drew isn’t an easy character to read about. She’s not. She’s got lots of flaws and has done things some (in the book) might object to. I say, so what. She’s interesting! She has a mind of her own and isn’t part of the upper crust. She can get away with things the finer ladies might not. I loved it. She doesn’t let people tell her what to do–for the most part–and is smart. I rooted for her from the start. Heck, I was rooting for her in the first book when she was a secondary character.

Then there’s Radley. I have to say is the best character. He takes doing things his way to a new level. He’s also very smart, but very devoted. This guy totally plays by his own rules. He’s a newly minted Duke, but don’t tell him that. He’s happy in his regular clothes and holey stockings–yes, its in there and hilarious. I could visualize him and wanted more of him. Heck, yeah, bring on the good guy!

This book is a tad high on the spice meter. There are some topics mentioned in passing that happen at the gaming hell that some readers might take objection to, but please don’t let that keep you from reading this books. It’s spicy and sweet and totally worth the read. I highly recommend it.

She had wanted to marry for love . . . but her profligate father has promised her hand to none other than Breccan Campbell, the “Beast of Aberfeldy” and laird of the valley’s most despised clan! Well, Tara may have to marry him, but Breccan can’t make her love him—can he?

Breccan Campbell is nobody’s fool. He knows that Tara is trouble. Yet he’s determined to reform the Campbell name even if it means forging an alliance with the arrogant beauty. There’s no doubt that Tara is a challenge, and Breccan loves nothing more. For he’s vowed to thoroughly seduce Tara—and make her his in more than name alone.

The Bride Says Maybe is the second book in the Cathy Maxwell’s series The Brides of Wishmore. After reading the first in the series (The Bride says No), I was really eager to read its sequel because I wanted to know Lady Tara’s story. Lady Tara is a character I didn’t like much in The Bride Says No. I found her spoiled, insensible, self-centered and shallow but somehow by the end of the first book I realized that there might be more to her than met the eye. I was not wrong.

The Bride Says Maybe is a character driven romance novel in which the reader follows the development of the romance between Lady Tara and Breccan Campbell, two people who both have their issues. They were total strangers who decided to get married, each for their own special reasons. As the story progressed and Tara and Breccan gradually learned about one another, they fell in love. Love between Tara and Breccan sprung from mutual respect and climaxed in one beautiful, sensual lovemaking scene. The sexual tension between characters is so magnificently built up through the story and because of that it was pure enjoyment to read. Both characters are complex and lovable at the same time, and I became very fond of them by the end of the story. Besides the main characters, I also enjoyed very much the stories that Breccan told Tara; the stories were based on Scottish legends and they spoke about love between a man and woman. Besides that, they helped bring a mystical atmosphere and extra spice to the story.

Although The Bride Says Maybe can be read as a standalone I highly recommend to readers that they read the first book in the series before this one so they can fully understand what is going on regarding the subplot of this story.

The Bride Says Maybe was a sequel worth waiting for. I enjoyed every page of this story, and it brought up so many emotions in me. I highly recommend it to all romance novel readers, regardless of their favorite sub-genre. I think it is needless to say that I cannot wait for the next installment in this series.

Forced together to rescue and protect a young woman, safeguards must come down and, when that happens, their attraction strengthens—beyond their control—until they can barely tell where one person stops and the other begins.

Will they surrender to a legacy or risk a disaster to stay apart?

Jasmine Monroe has taken a long time to recover from the ordeal she suffered in the first book of The Gatekeepers (The Shoppe of Spells), but now she feels whole again and able to cope with life in general. Then she meets Eryk Vreeland, a magician who is identical to her good friend Dorian. All except for the eyes. His facetted emerald green eyes are the duplicate of Morgan’s – Dorian’s wife.

Jasmine, Dorian and Morgan are all descendants of the original settlers of Rutherford. The people there have special powers and these three are no exception. Jasmine reports the existence of Eryk to Bask (the managing director of Abbot House which is technically the protector of Rutherford). From that point on Jasmine’s life is not her own. She and Eryk become a team and Eryk is introduced to Dorian and Morgan, the Gatekeepers at the Shoppe of Spells who keep the Gulatega from travelling through the portal to Earth.

Once again mystery and magic combine in the Rutherford descendants. Their ability to see people’s auras, move objects, repel invaders to their world, all these things make the town a safe haven. Add to this the knowledge when a couple become intimate they become match-mated for life and work their magic as a pair. This means Jasmine and Eryk must struggle to control their emotions or forever be entwined in love.

The story pulled me in and kept me there. Jasmine’s past made her a strong person and Eryk’s disbelief in real magical events made for some interesting discussions between the two. Two resilient personalities who fight against evil and the people who wield evil. I did wonder if they were right for each other, or if their identities were too much for each other. Was I right or wrong? Only a someone who’s read the book can tell you that and I’m not going to spoil it for future readers.

I waited patiently for this second book of The Gatekeepers to appear as I thoroughly enjoyed the first one. Ms Grey did not disappoint me. I literally couldn’t put this book down, and when life forced me to I hurried back to it as soon as possible. I look forward to the third in the series – Second Chances.

With danger stalking her every step of the way, all it takes is one wrong move to damn her for eternity.

The experience of reading this book is like being a dust bunny in the path of a super suction vacuum cleaner – once I got started, reality fell away and the only thing that existed was Vlad and Leila. There was no escape.

I had read Once Burned, the first book that introduced me to Vlad and Leila, and I was astounded as to the originality and the quality of writing that took place in that novel. It ended with a not so happy type of cliff hanger so I was both cautious and curious to start Twice Tempted. I didn’t know where Ms. Frost was going to take her characters – further estrangement, using that as one of the plot conflicts, or advancing their romance to the next step, fighting and screaming all the way. I’m thrilled to report that this story is written just as powerfully with an almost absolute perfect balance of suspense, drama, intense passion and a delightful and thoroughly captivating culmination of their courtship and romance.

Of course, Vlad is not a typical hero. In fact, he is a cold blooded killer. His sense of justice is extreme and his methods of punishment are medieval and brutal and in the beginning Leila was horrified that he wielded his weapons with so much gusto. The hero is a very scary man. However in this book, told through Leila’s eyes, he’s so much more. In fact, that is how this novel is told – through Leila’s first person point of view and Ms. Frost never missed a beat. Usually I find first person POV hard to get into. Not so with Twice Tempted. I was solidly in Leila’s head but because the author has such a strong command of dialogue, expressions, descriptions and mood setting, it was a smooth yet commanding read and I reveled in it. The author used the secondary characters to give Leila the clues she needed to understand what was happening or what was about to. When she understood, I understood. The author’s expertise in crafting her characters in this book was clear and bold.

If readers missed the first book, Once Burned, they won’t get too lost in reading this sequel. Ms. Frost did play catch up at certain points to make sure a new reader understood the ramifications of certain choices made by the characters in a few scenes. Since I’d forgotten some of the finer points, it was a good refresher for me and I think just right for new readers too. One thing is for sure, some of the secondary characters mentioned in both Once Burned and Twice Tempted were from the other series that Ms. Frost is famous for. I’ve never read them but after my experience with these two novels, I’m going to be looking into getting all the back books. I can only hope my purse doesn’t scream OUCH! too loud since it looks like there are quite a few. If the quality is anything like reading Vlad and Leila’s story, I’m going to be a very contented reader – and broke.

The hardest thing about writing this review is avoiding the spoilers. There are so many things I’d love to share! I’ll give hints: the explosion, the betrayal, the villain, the cool thing about the flowers, the boat, the explanation of ghouls and what happens to poor Maximus. And the rats! Oh good gravy, the rats! That’s just for starters. Twice Tempted is simply amazing because it’s meaty, diverse, enthralling and intense and is a real page flipper.

Twice Tempted blew me away and everything about the heroine totally rocked! Yes, I liked the dynamics between Vlad and Leila, and Vlad is one sexy, arrogant and complex hunk, but Leila’s character impressed me 100%. There were three times that the author could have written her actions as a typical cliché but instead she surprised me, pleased me and garnered my respect. The paragraph of introspection where Leila ruminated over life and living was a breath of fresh air and what came afterwards pushed all of my happy buttons. Twice Tempted is going on my keeper shelf just like its predecessor, Once Burned. I know there is one more book coming because of what was discovered in the last chapter of Twice Tempted and I guarantee it’s going to be an auto-buy. Ms. Frost is now on my short list of must read authors. She’s earned it with these Night Prince novels. I’m very happy to recommend this book, and indeed this series, to all paranormal romance fans. It’s high caliber writing.

Well written, with a fascinating and unusual premise, Champion of Sherwood grabbed my attention from page one. It is the story of Robin Hood’s Daughter and grandchildren and the mysterious and magical Sherwood Forest. There are still problems with the Sheriff of Nottingham and his men. The people are still being victimized, and are fighting back. This leads to many of their homes being burned and villagers slain.

There is a circle of three who are guardians in Sherwood Forest. The magic there keeps them safe and they do what they can to protect the people. When they are no longer able to provide this safety, the guardianship passes on. The next three will be the two daughters of the daughter of Robin Hood and her husband, the present guardians, Lark and Linnet, twin sisters. The third party will be a young man named Falcon. His father has been the third of the guardians till now.
The villagers raid a group of the sheriff’s men, returning from collecting taxes and kill all but one, who is the nephew of the sheriff. They hold him and plan to ask for ransom for him.

As I read I became so involved with the story, I found it difficult to put down the book. How they fight to protect the village, and how they resolve the situation, if only temporarily, is done so well, you have no doubts as to the magic surrounding them.

I was with the every moment while the story progressed. This was similar yet much different than the Robin Hood story. It is different in that the nephew becomes an important part of the solutions.

I really loved this story and would highly recommend it. I plan on finding book one in the trilogy and then the next ones as they are written. Definitely a series and an author to watch.

Thimble Down is a country village where halflings live. It has a good and bad side of town, just like most real cities do. And Bing Rumple lives on the bad side. When he comes back with tales about fighting goblins with elves and being rewarded with a beautiful jewel, many think the drunken braggart may be lying. When he’s found with an elven knife in his back, everyone thinks the elves are to blame. But are they?

Author Prown is a journalist, magazine editor and plays a guitar. He must have heard this magical story in the music rising from his fingers. This is a very good fantasy with enjoyable characters. The story moves fluently. There is humor, greed, spite, and a bit of hatred as well as love in the story.

Mr. Dorro is the village bookmaster and he has helped solve a case or two before, so he takes an interest in the current murder. He has just acquired an apprentice named Wyll and he’s prepared to do a complete investigation. He doesn’t think an elf put that knife in Bing’s back; why leave it there if it was?

There’s lots of action. Wyll ends up in jail twice, Mr. Dorro meets the elves and finds they are reasonable people even if they want their jewel back. The sheriff almost dies trying to protect the village and find a killer. The Mayor is corrupt. I didn’t know for sure who was behind the killing until the author explained it.

This is a well-written busy book that will hold your attention and make you wish you were there to meet the elves and maybe share a mug of cider with the villagers. It’s written for young teens but this older reader enjoyed it a lot, too. It’s going in my personal library. I’d be happy to read another adventure with Mr. Dorro. He’s a good detective!
