The dangers the pair face as they try to repair the damage done to the Pack are well-done and action filled. The end of the book, however, seemed rushed in a attempt to tie all the elements of the book together in one complete package. Even some things which there had been no hint had anything to do with the villains of the piece. This ending keeps the book, in my opinion, from being as good as it could be. Even with that, however, I’m looking forward to the next entry in the series because I did like the characters Ms. Mack has introduced.

The scenes are hot and if you are looking for steaming and creative eroticism, then this story delivers.

The unique part is how Carlie has to save Vincenzo and why. That was quite romantic.

This story does have a happy ending as most reditions of the Christmas Carol do. The epilogue ends up being an omniscent narrative and it does tie it all up nicely. The reader is left in no doubt that the Happily Ever After will survive into the future.
That’s the best part of romance.

We are pulled from one sexual encounter to another with barely a pause between to catch our breath. It felt more like I was reading Gina’s diary, and while salacious it wasn’t really romantic. There were several moments where I wasn’t sure there would be a Happily Ever After and I was frustrated, but the sex was so erotic I couldn’t turn away. Kind of like a naughty voyeur who is helpless to turn from a steamy scene before them. While this didn’t completely ruin my enjoyment of this book, it did dampen it a bit as I would have liked to see more character development and story progression. Therefore, I have to tender a warning to anyone looking to pick this one up: It’s not your typical Erotic Romance, and that is just fine if you’re looking for something a bit more along the lines that this one went.

Quillia Rain is an exceptional author, and I have enjoyed her stories that I have read. Despite the difficulties I had in reading this one, I did enjoy it. Each story of hers has been unique and I do look forward to any of her other offerings. If you decide to pick this one up be prepared for a wild adventure that may make you wonder about some of your own fantasies, and what you would be willing to do for pleasure. Hold onto your seat and enjoy the ride.

The culmination of Sam’s and Alistair’s relationship takes on new and powerful heights with the exciting conclusion of this story. It’s quite romantic in its way. Also, the secrets revealed are unique and thought provoking. What else does this world hide?

Bloody English is an enjoyable read with just the right amount of suspense and romance between the characters to flesh out the story and move the plot along.

I found the storyline that followed the Dragon to be of most interest to me. If you mix up The Silence of the Lambs and CSI- Vegas with Starsky and Hutch, you have the flavor of the drama. In their open acceptance of each other they found the strength and fortitude to survive not only this, but issues on personal fronts as well.

The two other agents that came with Special Agent Tyler sure didn’t like him in the beginning. That came through quite clear. I appreciated the evolving of that working relationship on the pages. As for Officer Dave Harris, he had to make some tough decisions; to come out or stay hidden and lose the best thing that’s ever happened to him. How in the world can that be worse than what’s happening on his beat? For one thing, once and if the crime is solved, it’s over whereas if he comes out, it’s the future of his whole life. Dilemma, Dilemma; I liked how the author handled it.

Meanwhile, the two men do express their yen for the other by getting physical. The scenes weren’t graphic or overly explicit, just enough skin and action to get into the swing of things. Enough to give me the hint that what was between them was much more than rampant and inexhaustible lust. But how far will Officer Dave go?

If you enjoy gritty crime dramas and/or romantic suspense, then Naked Dragon will deliver. Just give yourself plenty of time to read; with the lights on.

Frankie needs a place to stay while she figures out what to do about her intended mate and that the guy whose desk she ends up on is hawt and makes her out of control hormones meow? Well, hoorah, baby.

My personal favorite lately is shapeshifter stories. Add to that some rocking sex scenes and some romance and you’ve got one great read.

The fact that Frankie is running away from having to mate with someone she absolutely finds icky makes the first sex scene kind of hilarious. The “curse” of being a werecat means mating with someone and that someone happens to be Sam Carsters at a most inopportune moment. Considering they start out as strangers who mate out of necessity, following their blossoming relationship kept me reading page after page.

I think this short story could definitely be turned into a full length book considering the subject matter. I want to read more after reading this.

A heated sideways glance from a handsome suntanned hunk sparks a desire in Cheryl to celebrate life. She’s black, and doesn’t mind that he’s white. Together, they burn up the sheets, sharing a steamy, toe-curling afternoon before her job interferes and they go their separate ways.

Six months passes before Cheryl sees Paul again. This time, he’s back with an angry father at his side. Seems Paul left something out of his introduction. He’s an Apteran, a virgin alien whose sideways glance was a shy proposal of marriage. The results of their summer fun just pressed the perfect outline of a tiny foot against his daddy’s belly.

Shocked, Cheryl discovers she’s been cast as the “Playa” in this Baby’s Mama Drama!

I got a kick out of this short, holiday story. “Holiday” as the main character, Cheryl, celebrates Kwaanza more so than Christmas. It was a short read, very short, and I finished it quickly. The situations were ones we’d all read about, heard about, heck even experienced. Except… they weren’t. Everything was in a different perspective than what most of us have become accustomed to. That was a pleasant surprise.

The characters were funny, and a little raunchy and struck sparks off of each other. Cheryl has no problem telling it like it is, sometimes to the point of overkill. Paul knows how to get her engines revving, and “speaks her language” and isn’t afraid to get dirty with her. They both enjoy each other and then somehow part ways. We don’t find out exactly what happens as we jump from their time together to six months later. Let the drama ensue.

I generally have a harder time with short stories because, if it’s good I want it to be longer. I want more, always more. More development, more relationship, just more! You don’t get that with a short story, but you do get fun, usually. This story was written in first person, from Cheryl’s perspective and I did have some issues with the storytelling. That is what it felt like: storytelling. The way you would describe an encounter with someone to an outside party. I enjoy a story so much more when and author “shows” me what happened, not recites what happens. Don’t get me wrong, the story came across great, bumps and all. I especially like how different from Earthlings the Apterans are. The roles are reversed: the woman is the head of household, always: the man does the housework and all the other “woman” stuff. I can’t really say more, but I enjoyed having the tables turned on a man for once. All in all, I was entertained by this short story and thought it was great for a quick holiday read.

A Cry in the Night is an interesting bit of worldbuilding. The prologue helped me figure out what was what instead of reading it all in the story and trying to extrapolate the differences.

This story is well thought out as to character relationships, political hierarchy and how everything works within the cultures of the world that Paula has created.
Not an easy thing to do but the author has sprinkled the story with well written ‘showing’ so that the reader can easily follow the Gatherer and Hunter differences.

In this story, we first meet Talen at a much happier time in his life. There’s a bit of foreshadowing that quickly comes true and we understand his POV as he continues on with his life. He seems to be a vampire who’s only reason for living is his job – a Gatherer. A workaholic vampire. Not much of a life, is it?

His duty brings him into contact with a new Bitten, and his heart takes notice, much to his shock. Liana is a character that I enjoyed reading about. She’s on the plump side and yet she doesn’t get mired in self-destructive thinking. She has a brief visit to her own pity party but it passes because she knows her self-worth. She is just frustrated because no one seems to get it; to see HER, the woman and mind within. I thought it was adorable that Talen comes from a time when ladies like Liana were all the rage.

I noticed that Talen seems stuck in his own time – his choice of addressing Liana seemed out of sync with the current time he resides in. But then again,living as long as he, I suppose he could chose any manner of being; he’s seen enough to figure out that all modes of societal mores is fleeting. I guess being a long-lived vampire, he can be what feels right to him and to heck with everyone else. Wish I could do that.

As for Liana? I personally felt she could have put up more of a fight in accepting Talen’s explantions however, since she was HIS Happy Ever After,I wasn’t too bothered by it. It was enough to appreciate her wit (she had quite a few clever lines) and her saucy thoughts when she viewed Talen’s assets. I liked her spunk.

I will tell you that I found myself enjoying A Cry in the Night and reading about Talen and Liana’s heated romance as well as the world that Paula built for them to live in. However, I have to warn potential readers about some serious editing issues that compromised this story enough to effect my rating of it. Some terminology was repetitious and verbs tended to be in the wrong tense. If you can expect these editing burps, then the story won’t lose its impact for you. If it weren’t for the editing, this story would have been perfect.

Other than that, A Cry in the Night is well worth reading for fans of werewolf and vampire romance stories. Paula has introduced many unique elements that made this a fascinating read. She also introduced a character named Ditmyer who absolutely hooked me. I went from not liking him to being curious about him because towards the end, Paula injected Ditmyer with some intriguing personality cues. If A Cry in the Night is the first in a series then I am more than willing to visit again. The story is that good.
