She Thinks My Tractor’s Sexy

She Thinks My Tractor’s Sexy
By Cara North

The second book in the Country Music Collection is about the oldest Johnson brother, Heath and the woman who broke his heart, Chance. Is it time to call it quits or is it time to act like grown ups and give their marriage a real shot?

I was so excited to read about this second Johnson brother, Heath. In the first book, he was so tortured. He hardly ever smiled, was quick to anger and kept an emotional distance even from his family. He was definitely a guy I wanted healed. So I was looking forward to seeing what Cara came up with as a reason for his being written that way and how she was going to solve the mystery. She did great. She sure knows how to write romance.

Don’t let the summary throw you. They are acting like grownups, but these two people, Heath and his estranged wife, Chance, have a lot of baggage to unload before they can truly give their marriage a fair shake. It’s not that they don’t love each other. That becomes painfully clear though the first half of the story. It’s what has happened to themselves in their formative years that scarred them. Heath has the issue of his family dynamics growing up which has wrecked havoc with his psyche. He, being the oldest, shouldered a lot of responsibility and interpreted the relationship between his dad and mom as only a kid can. Unfortunately, Heath needs the grown up version of understanding to get ahead in his relationship with Chance.

Chance had a horrible childhood. She covered it up with bravado. The thing is, when is it time to stop living a lie and not only embrace the gift of love, but trust it?
The passion Heath and Chance have is explosive and the truest thing they can easily hold on to when everything else is riddled with doubts.

I enjoyed reading the scenes about their physical expressions of love because they were so powerful. It wasn’t just sex. It was reaching out, loving, at times tender, and at other times, desperate.

I also appreciated the family feeling in this story because we get to visit with Jack and Beth again from Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off. I cracked up during the scene when the women have a girl’s night out. Jack had a perfect line.

The culmination of the story was a beautiful HEA that will melt your heart – and leave you with a big grin. Read it and see.

OH! I bet once you’re done reading this book you’re going to be asking yourself, “When do I get to find out what happens to Rafe? Will that woman wake up and smell the coffee or what?” I know I am.

Review: Deep Water: Elemental Dragon Book 2

Deep Water: Elemental Dragon Book 2
by Stella and Audra Price

Bryn Case is a Dive instructor in one of the most beautiful places on earth at a very exclusive resort. On the evening she meets Kael, a sexy guest at the resort, she thinks she’s found her soul mate. Kael on the other hand, a Water elemental dragon, knows Bryn, a Glacies demon, is exactly what he’s been looking for his entire life, and curses it. After all that had happened so far, to lose his heart to a demon is not something he’s prepared to do. Between treasure hunting and her love of the seas, Kael knows this woman is everything he’s ever wanted, it’s just finding and dealing with the demon that has her soul that’s going to be a bitch.

I really got a kick out of this story. Having read the first in the Dragon Elementals series, I had expectations, that sometimes don’t always occur when you get the second installment of a world. I was not disappointed. This book was fun and had me downright laughing out loud at some of the witty banter between Kael and Bryn. I had a blast reading this.

When we first met Kael in Fire In His Eyes he was snarky and standoffish. He didn’t seem to want to let anyone in close enough to temper his pain and bitterness from the past. We saw some of his true character when he occasionally let his guard down around his dragon brother’s mate. Although, to this day he professes that she drives him crazy, and not in a good way. We see in this story that he really is a charming dragon, and he is slowly relearning how to dance. He wasn’t sure it was a good idea to give in to his attraction for a demon… a race that had practically exterminated his own kind. So, when he just lets his instincts take over and allows himself to be open to Bryn, it was quite a moment for him.

Bryn is a reluctant demon. She never wanted to be one, in fact she was tricked into becoming and ice demon and then left by the demon she bargained with in too warm a climate. She was an amazingly resilient character, and I found I liked her spunk and her desire to move on and make the best of a bad situation. When she meets Kael she’s not sure she wants to give him a chance. She’d let her heart guide her before and was burned, badly. She gives Kael a run for his money, but is able to finally let go of the pain in order to have a future with him.

There were some purely fun moments in this story as well as truly touching moments, and I loved that we got to check in with old friends. I find that when we get to find out how couples from previous stories are doing in their relationship, it adds a bit more to the current story. I found the authors’ concept of a family unit inspiring, they embody the belief that family is what you make it, and this family will stick to the end. This was definitely a fun, quick read that left me hot at moments and smiling at others. I find I want to locate the other Eververse stories already out there, not to mention the fact that I want to see how the rest of this quirky family finds love. Definitely a keeper.

Review: Fire in His Eyes

Fire in His Eyes – Dragon Elementals Book One
by Stella and Audra Price

Alcyone Sterling, succubus and owner of Pinkys XXX has a secret admirer, who is leaving her exotic and rare flowers and jewelry beyond beautiful. She doesn’t know who it is, and gets even more curious after a clandestine liaison in her bedroom involving a few silk ties and a blindfold.

Char, Fire elemental and strongest of the last dragons left in the Eververse, is obsessed and in love with the young succubus, and recognizes her as his mate, regardless of her demon status. He has to have her, and will do anything to attain her. When the rest of what’s left of his dying race decided to interfere, Char is forced to made some very rash decisions, all in the name of love.

This story immediately jumped into the magical world in which it is set. It is a world that overlaps into the human world, although there weren’t any explanations on whether or not the human world was aware of and or participated in the dealings of the magical world.

Alcyone is a succubus, a sexual demon; therefore, by nature she enjoys sex of all types. How appropriate that she owns a strip club. Living in the succubus court, she is well used to mysterious lovers and one night stands in order to feed. What she is not used to is a dragon who sweeps her off her feet with almost no effort. Especially when she was under the impression dragons were extinct.

Char is THE dragon, a warrior dragon in a race that is nearly extinct if not fully, and he harbors quite a bit of guilt for his own part in his species’ trials. He, on the other hand, doesn’t feel at all that the seduction was effortless; he just knew she was meant to be his mate, something every dragon searches for but doesn’t always find. He has been watching Alcyone for years through her candle flames. He knows far more about her than she knows about him, and when he sets out to make her his, all bets are off. He overwhelms her with his seduction and gifts, although Alcyone isn’t putting up much of a fight. This dragon is yummy!

I loved watching how the two of them interacted with each other and with those around them. I especially enjoyed the secondary characters, who I am hoping will have their own stories soon. They deserve them. The people these two surrounded themselves with were an interesting and quirky bunch that reminded me of a nosy, but loving, family only interested in what is best for those they loved. As with all good stories, everyone has to overcome a few obstacles, some poignantly sad, others politically trying, in order to truly appreciate what they have been given and to reach a great Happily Ever After. All in all, despite some typographical errors, I would definitely recommend this story to lovers of love and especially of paranormal.
