Sex on the job was only a fantasy for Carlin until Thatcher Banks came along, but just as events in the back room heat up, Banks disappears without explanation. Feeling used and manipulated, more than the proposal seems indecent as Carlin tries to heal her wounded pride and discover the truth about her mysterious co-worker.

Carlin Cates is roped into helping out a colleague work overtime to make a bid proposal. Unenthusiastic, Carlin is in a mood when she gets back from her coffee run but is determined to make the best of it and help out Thatcher Banks. A bunch of emails follow and Carlin gets a good mental image of Thatcher. Stodgy, mid-fifties and possibly English to boot. The reality is mind-blowingly different to anything she’d previously believed.

This is a short and fun story based on light-hearted interactions, sexy innuendo and incorrect personal assumptions. I enjoyed the email and texts that were exchanged between Carlin and Thatcher, who both take their work very seriously. The romance quickly heats up between them and is sexy and all in good fun.

The pace of this story is fast. Thatcher and Carlin were interesting characters, but the short length of the story meant I didn’t get to know them as well as I would have hoped. Also, their romance happened very quickly. While it was believable, I couldn’t help but feel it was a “happy for now” sort of situation. Carlin thought she was falling in love, but that stretched my credulity a bit much when they’d known each other for such a short time and Thatcher left so abruptly. While there is definitely a happy ending, it felt a little forced to me. I wonder if more traditional romance readers who want a solid basis for their heroine and hero and all the trappings of Happily Ever After might feel the depth of the romance a little lacking here. If there had been another chapter or two in the middle, fleshing out their romance and coming back together that would have made the wrap up in the ending a lot more believable for me.

That said, for readers wanting a quick, smooth romance “on the go” this ticks many of my boxes. I enjoy the workplace romance style of story. Carlin and Thatcher are modern and interesting people and the sexy scene between them is smoking hot and very satisfying. As a reader I felt I could really sympathize with Carlin and loved the spot of jealousy she exhibited without going over the top. I enjoyed this story and feel many readers should too. A quick, fun, lighthearted read.

A poor widow, Lady Charlotte Collins returns to England eager to take her place in the ton, only to find herself shunned by all. Her one choice is to marry a groom with wealth, a title, and good looks, but Alasdair McGregor cruelly refuses to be the answer to her problems. In fact, she is forced by Dare’s obstinacy to take extreme action: the faulty codpiece that leads to this marriage, the wedding that is literally a circus. But nothing can stand between Charlotte and what she wants most: the love of her husband.

Noble Destiny is quirky, charming, silly and fun. There are many reasons to smile throughout the story and for the most part, it’s lighthearted reading.

But this is just a misconception because consulting the doctor is very important for you to know many things about the pharmacy. mastercard cialis Erectile dysfunction or ED is a sexual buy cipla tadalafil issue found in males. But, true sense in the term that all the branded canadian cheap viagra unica-web.com has a lot of ads to make a reasonable place in the competitive market. buy generic sildenafil President George Washington was among the guests observing the spectacle. Charlotte, the heroine, is what makes the novel quirky. It’s her personality and language mangling that causes many moments of giggles and eye rolling. She’s upbeat, irrepressible and totally misguided. Yet for all her harebrained schemes and societal focus, she’s a really sweet lady.

I liked Dare, the hero, a lot. I liked his drive, his passion and his slow downward spiral into loving Charlotte. She didn’t make it easy on him; she confused the heck out of him many times, but he understood her heart and her failings, and loved her anyway.

For readers who love madcap comedy type books, this one should appeal. For those that appreciate logic and meaty plots, this story is fluffy and light and heavy on impossibility. For some, Charlotte’s personality might drive a person up a wall because she’s written in such a way as to come across as vain, vacuous, flighty and selfish. Bear with the story, it gets better, the heroine gets better. She grows up a bit and finally figures out what is truly important in life. When a catastrophe hits, she rises to the occasion and shows what a strong woman she really is. However, like I said, she is irrepressible. She doesn’t stay serious for long and it starts off again with embroidered patches. She’s inventive, I’ll give her that. The heroine seems to carry her own bit of sun in her pocket for all of life’s gloomy, cloudy days. It does come in handy. One thing’s for sure, her friend, Caro, is oftentimes entertained, aghast, horrified or impressed with Charlotte. So was I.

Secondary characters certainly played important and varied roles throughout the novel. I think Batsfoam would have been better if the author had toned down his dramatic soliloquies because after a while, I wanted to stick an apple in his mouth. Yes, an apple, because back then duct tape didn’t exist.

There is a light suspenseful plot that is fixed in an ingenious way. I thought as the heroine thought, that there were two villains. What the truth turned out to be was vastly better because it surprised me and I enjoyed that.

Noble Destiny is completely enjoyable. Yes, it had its foibles and weirdness but its overall charm, wit and delightfully saucy escapades between Dare and Charlotte were strong points that made reading this story so much fun. Charlotte grows on a person. I would definitely recommend this novel for readers in need of smiles, laughter and a few groaning “face palms”. It’s entertainment; something Ms. MacAlister knows a lot about because she always delivers.

“I want to know you, to understand anything at all about you, because you are the most maddening lady I have ever encountered.”

He’s the perfect gentleman…

After years hidden away from the mockery of the Ton, proud Andrew Clifton, Lord Amberstall, is finally ready to face Society again. But when his horse is injured on the road to London, Andrew finds himself literally thrown at the feet of the beautiful, infuriating, and undeniably eccentric Katie Moore.

…she’s anything but a lady.
Therefore it is necessary that ladies in general http://martinblaser.com/cialis-5852 viagra prescription these medicines are known as medicine with chemical ingredients such as sildenafil citrate, Tadalafil, Verdenafil etc. Although it is just a self test but the preparation-pints should be asked by Check This Out cialis sale a professional healthcare provider. Katie always preferred the stables to society, so when she was badly injured in a riding accident, she was more than happy to retreat to the countryside and give up the marriage mart for good. She never expected an infuriatingly proper lord to come tumbling into her life—and she certainly never expected to find herself wondering what it would be like to rejoin the world at his side.

They couldn’t be more different, and soon Andrew and Katie find themselves at odds about everything but the growing passion between them…and a keen awareness of a threat that may end their unconventional romance before it has even begun.

It wasn’t a very auspicious beginning. He’s being chased and jumps his horse over a hedge. He lands on her potter’s wheel and smashes it and his horse falls with an injured leg. The first thing they do is argue.

This is the first book I read by Elizabeth Michels and I’d be happy to read another. She does a very nice job of creating a love/hate relationship as well as describing the ways of the ton. She takes two wounded characters and lets them work at helping the other person.

Andrew was going home until he got attacked by two highway men. He ended up at the feet of Katie, who didn’t want to be bothered. Andrew had been mortified a year ago at a big event and had been recovering from his shame in Scotland. Katie had been thrown by a horse and hobbled around with a cane – mostly so she wouldn’t have to ride again. Since his horse is injured, he was going to put him down. What he didn’t anticipate was Katie’s passionate response to that: She would heal the horse. And, no, she would not sell him another one to continue home, he could just wait.

This is a story of treachery on all sides. The ton had a lot of greedy people amongst them and they not only wanted all that they had but what others had, too. As you try to figure out who is trying to kill Andrew and why, you also find out that Katie’s family is involved. Their relationship was already a mess without factoring that problem in.

The ending is dramatic and fitting. There is no doubt anywhere about who loves whom at the end. There are only new beginnings and sometimes we all need that.

The author snagged me with likeable characters, a good plot, and a concern that things would turn out well. I need not have worried; she finished this up with a perfect ending.

The daughter of a wealthy tradesman, Pippa has been sneered at by the upper echelons her entire life. So when the duke arrives on her doorstep with an invitation to her own engagement ball—to him—in ten days, Pippa hatches a daring plan. She must lose the duke before the ball, or risk losing her own heart.

It’s difficult enough to try to make your way in society when your father is in trade, without being snubbed by one of the most eligible dukes in the land. After Pippa Welby is presented to the Duke of Arlington, Lucas Alexander, he turns his back on her and walks away without a word. The ton thinks the Duke is giving her the cut direct, and ridicules Pippa even further. Little does everyone know, but the Duke was struck dumb when looking into Pippa’s eyes, and was simply at a loss for words.

When Lucas learns that the beauty presented to him is also in line to inherit something he covets, he decides that he must have her for his wife. Pippa, still smarting from his supposed rejection is having none of it. She refuses his proposal (such as it was,) much to Lucas’ shock. Thus begins the cat and mouse game between an arrogant duke, not used to being denied anything, and a feisty young woman who won’t be anyone’s doormat.

In the beginning, I wasn’t very fond of Lucas. He seemed oblivious to the grief he caused Pippa by turning his back on her. I forgave him when I realized that she truly did knock him for a loop at their introduction. He lost my favor again when he only decided to pursue the marriage after learning she held the means to what he coveted. Pippa, on the other hand, won me over right from the start. Duke or not, she let him have it! She’s also strong enough to want to marry for love, not for status, or to save her reputation.

Lucas’ plan of attack is seduction at every opportunity, and he is a very sexy devil! Pippa has a wicked sense of humor, and she cleverly counters his moves with tricks of her own. Despite his arrogance, Lucas became very likeable as we see him genuinely falling for Pippa. I wanted them to get together, but I admit that I enjoyed the dance Pippa was leading him. This is a short novella, but it’s perfect for a feel good, humorous, and very sexy read.

One long, lingering kiss put Jim at the center of her romantic desires and at the top of her list of suitors. And she plans to keep him there. Unfortunately, Jim wants off her list because of a secret past, a career as a shipbuilder instead of a gentleman, and his own inability to resist her. Proving her love—and his worthiness for her love—is Ella’s only way to rivet his attention.

Not your typical historical romance, Riveting His Attention is a fun read.

Ella amused me with her ratings of kisses from her season. And her diary entries at the start? Fun! Jim is the only one who made her pulse skyrocket, and she’s decided that she’s in love with him and will have him, no matter what her brother (or Jim) thinks. She goes after the prize in a single-minded fashion.

Ella was both loveable and irritating. I struggled with my feelings for her, because sometimes she just made me want to slap her. But she was never mean or nasty, just determined. And, thankfully, she does a lot of growing as the book progresses. She starts out a bit shallow, but shows increased depth by the end, and that really redeemed her for me.

I had to make concessions for the time with Jim. I understand he’s not a member of the gentry and doesn’t feel like he’s an appropriate match for Ella because of this and a secret from his past. But, clearly Ella and her family don’t feel the same (and I didn’t think his secret was *that* big an obstacle once we found out what it was). He was, at heart, a really awesome guy, and I can understand why Ella was determined to have him.

I did enjoy the bit of intrigue included with the ship and a villain. It made what could have just been a typical romance into something more and helped give Ella her time to shine.

While this story may not have been my absolute favorite, I still enjoyed the read. I like the author’s voice as well, and would be very interested in reading more of her work. I suspect readers who are big fans of historical romance would very much enjoy this book.

Kenan Rowse is definitely not looking for love. Back from a stint in Afghanistan and recovering from a messy divorce and an even messier past, the last thing he needs is another complication. So when he lands a temporary job as Luscious Lily’s driver, he’s none too pleased to find that they can’t keep their hands off each other!

But trudging around Cornish farms, knee deep in mud and meetings with egotistical chefs was never going to be the perfect recipe for love—was it? And Lily could never fall for a man so disinterested in food—could she?

They say the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach, but this couldn’t be further from the truth for Lily when she meets the taciturn, sometimes rude, Cornishman Kenan.

Lily Redman and Kenan Rowse appealed to me instantly, mostly because they couldn’t be more different. Lily is a rising star of the Cooking Network, a bubbly, energetic workaholic, while Kenan is jobless, divorced and haunted by his past mistakes. As we follow them through the story, it turns out they are far more similar than it seems at first glance, and because of this, the chemistry between them was convincing. The way they slowly reveal their true selves to each other and how that forms a strong base for their burgeoning feelings was the highlight of the novel. The differences between them make for a dynamic relationship from the first meeting on, and it only intensifies as several obstacles come in the way of them admitting their feelings and being together.

The novel starts off to a fast pace, but it loses steam in the middle with Lily and Kenan dilly-dallying about what to do about their growing relationship, until it picks up again towards the end. The story becomes more complex and intriguing as more and more side characters appear, but most of these are portrayed too black and white, which is a shame as more complex characters could’ve lead to an even more intense plot. Especially the last conflict would’ve been more intense if Lily’s ex lover Patrick had not been presented so one-dimensionally. The American/Cornish language peculiarities make for a few funny moments, but the conversations between Kenan’s eight-year-old daughter Mandy and the adults often feels stilted and awkward, too childish. The descriptions of cooking and food, however, show the author’s great knowledge and love of the topic as the scenes are mouth-watering.

I recommend Sugar and Spice to everyone who loves a sweet romance, and to every foodie. The tender emotions of the main characters and the descriptions of food will surely enchant you.

Maya Robertson is a young vampire with a bit of a penchant for inviting trouble. When that trouble includes sentry Shane Quesada, all bets are off. What could possibly make the already tense situation any more tense? The addition of werewolf royalty, of course! When a good time turns into a desperate situation, all Maya and Shane have to rely on is each other. But can they stop arguing long enough to stop what has been started?

I was excited to see that the second installment of Sara Humphreys’ Dead in the City series included two of my favorite secondary characters from the first novel – Shane and Maya. These two are a complete mismatch on paper, but work wonderfully well together when put to the test.

Shane intrigues me because he’s several hundred years old and is a total alpha male solely because men had to be in those days. Although alpha males have a tendency to seriously irk me, when they are born of a time when men had to be men – not because they wanted to be the Big Man but because the villagers’ lives depended on it – I find it much easier to deal with. Shane Quesada is one of these men. However, even though he is a warrior through and through, he finds a way to be everything that Maya needs.

Maya, on the other hand, is an extremely troubled youngling vampire. Having been savagely attacked and left for dead on the night of her turning, Maya can’t remember anything that came before that night. What she learns about herself in this book is both fascinating and unique. I think I liked learning her back story more than anyone else’s to date.

Vampire Trouble is a fun and sexy follow up to Tall, Dark and Vampire. You get a glimpse of Olivia and Doug’s continued life as bloodmates (and parents!) as well as new and interesting characters you haven’t met before. For me, the best part was the addition of the world of the gypsies and how it relates back to the main story. I would love to see more of this later in the series. Ms. Humphreys’ Dead in the City series has a little bit of everything: vampires, shifters, babies, magic, mayhem and more.

Lacy begins to think the present is more important than her past…until Chance’s connection to her mother and a murder spin her deeper into danger and further from love. Will the truth destroy Lacy and Chance or will it be the answer that frees them?

Descriptive and interesting, The Art of Love and Murder captured my attention from the first.

The book’s strength is in its characters and descriptions. Lacy and Chance are well drawn, well rounded, unique and interesting. They have strengths and flaws, interesting backstory and are folks I would have liked to meet in real life. Most of the secondary characters are also well done, though some are too much one thing. The villain is too completely evil (I really prefer a villain who might also have some good points … purely evil people don’t ring true for me) and I struggled to understand why women seemed to fall at his feet. He made my skin crawl. And Kitty was a bit over the top as a floozy, making me wonder what Chance ever saw in her. He’s not a shallow guy, and you don’t get much shallower than Kitty.

The setting was a character in itself. I loved the town! The author really made it come to life, not stinting on details (but not boring the reader either).

As a huge fan of mysteries, I found this one to be a bit disappointing. We know who the villain is from the start (much of the book is told from his point of view, and there’s no effort to hide his identity) and we know who the “mysterious” artist is, even if Lacy questions it at first. The clues are laid out with a heavy hand. We don’t know all the “whys” and I suppose that makes the journey interesting, but honestly, I read this book (and enjoyed it) for the characters and their journey and not the mystery.

Despite the few flaws, the writing kept me turning pages and I never once thought about setting it down. So, if you like a little light suspense with your romance, and prefer character driven novels, I can recommend The Art of Love and Murder.

This short story is sexy and steamy and sweet all at the same time. It was a fun read set in a unique locale and of course has a HEA.

I read A LOT of romance novels. Contemporary romance especially, seems to have one or two set formulas that are adhered to. If certain themes crop up often it doesn’t stymie my enjoyment of the book, but it is always nice to come across something entirely original. While this particular scenario isn’t done over much, it is still a common enough. In fact, it’s done in historical romances as well. For some reason this theme seems to work better in the historical genre and comes off quite charming if done right, but with contemporary that’s a little harder to pull off.

The story line in this one makes it work much better than I would have thought and I think the author’s decision to keep the story short worked in her favor. The pacing was wonderful and the tension builds at just the right speed so things don’t feel rushed. It’s short with some heat. This light romance makes the perfect break or lunchtime escape.

Virginia, Lady Burke, is well aware that the powerful ex-spy will try to take command of their quest, but it’s her job to keep him under control. Yet how can she keep this untamable scoundrel under her thumb when all she really wants is to unleash the smoldering passion between them?

At last! We get to find out what has been going on with Nick, Lord Forrester, in this wrap up to the Inferno Club series. Nick has been languishing in a Scottish prison for six months, when he is released into the custody of Virginia, (Gin) Lady Burke. In previous books in this series, there was some doubt cast on Nick’s loyalty, and though he ended up proving himself by taking a bullet meant for regent, he still was sentenced to prison for trying to leave the Inferno Club, which is a lifelong obligation.

Lady Burke, it seems, is the biological daughter of Virgil, the deceased beloved trainer of this generation of Inferno Club brothers, including Nick. She desperately wanted to be a member, but since she was a female, her father wouldn’t consider it. She’s now a wealthy widow, and actually does a lot of investigating and rescue work of her own. But she has now run into a situation where she needs Nick’s help. The fact that she is Virgil’s daughter is the only reason Nick is released into her custody.

Nick is a very sympathetic character. He is tired of the killing, tired of what he’s become, and he just wants to earn enough money to go to America and start a new life. His reason for originally joining the order is no longer valid, and he is one lonely, confused man. Gin’s offer will let him start over, after he helps her, so he agrees.

Though Gin is a strong woman, and does good things, I just couldn’t connect with her. I found her too hard. She does things and wants things that she forbids her teenage son to do. She is also openly living a lifestyle, of which her son disapproves. Her lack of honesty is the cause of a lot of the ensuing action in this story. Yet, she does have a genuine love for Nick, and they have an explosive chemistry together.

The story itself neatly wraps up the series. One could read this as a stand alone, but it’s certain to be enjoyed more if you have read the previous books. For those who have followed along, it’s a satisfying conclusion to the Inferno Club.
