The Braddock Brotherhood, Book 3

Neither is prepared for the emotional impact of that encounter. But just when Baylee dares to believe in happy ever after, an old enemy turns up to even the score. And Trey finds his heart left in the red zone, with his last chance for love ticking down to zero.

There are times that we all mess up, and then seek a little redemption and forgiveness. Trey Christopher is one who does just that. At one time, Trey could have had it all- a great football career, a woman by his side that loved him, and the title of the town’s golden boy. One small mistake led to another. Now Trey comes home to face the demons of his past and to learn how to fix his wrong doings.

This story’s leading lady is Baylee. Her family life is in peril, but Baylee carried the pain on her shoulder and strives to make her way out of this small town that isn’t working in her favor. A job opportunity has a chance of changing her life, in more ways than one. Baylee is a strong woman, she’s the kind of person that will be there for her family even when things are at their worst. Her father struggles through a drinking problem, her sister has her own troubles, and she’s got an adopted brother that ends up in trouble after trouble. What’s left?

I wasn’t sure about Trey when I started reading. I remember him from the first book in the series, and his picture wasn’t painted perfectly at all. As I said, even the messed up heroes need a little love too. I’d say Trey redeemed himself fairly nicely in this story. As I kept reading on, I learned he isn’t so bad after all. Sure, he did some stupid stuff, but he’s now learning from his mistakes, and his heart is opening to the possibility of love. It takes a lot of struggle, but Trey is learning what it takes to be the kind of man Baylee needs.

This is a great contemporary romance full of heart, a bit of heat, and the strong ties to family. I enjoyed reading Baylee and Trey’s story. There’s definitely some character growth, especially for Trey and I liked how the plot kept thickening as the odds seemed stacked against this unlikely pair. It made their path to a happily ever after one that I had to see through. I rooted from the pair from the first time they connected.

The First Time Again is emotionally charged, sexy, and fun. If you’re looking for a great read, I recommend this story. Yes, it’s book three in a series, but it’s definitely a good standalone. I enjoy this authors work and will easily seek out more stories from Ms. Meyers.

Maximilian Cale, the Duke of Lyons, long ago buried his grief for his missing elder brother, Peter, who was presumed dead after being kidnapped. When a mysterious note arrives from Tristan Bonnaud asserting that the Duke’s brother is alive, it leads Max straight to the winsome Lisette Bonnaud, illegitimate daughter of a viscount and Tristan’s sister. Soon he and Lisette are traveling to Paris posing as husband and wife, in search of Tristan, who has disappeared. And the longer he spends with Lisette, the easier it is for Max to see that the line between dukedom and desire is easier to cross than heimagined . . .

If a book can be chosen to be read on only the strength of the prologue, then I’d vote for What the Duke Desires. The premise of the external conflict that taunts and flavors most of the book is found right there. The familial ties and the reasons they are so strong are present in bold clarity. The actions that occur in that short chapter drive the main protagonists into the lives they eventually live. And despite the horror of the beginning, triumph, happiness and justice eventually prevail. The question was, ‘how?’. The story that followed was nothing short of spectacular and all my questions were answered.

Ms. Jeffries knows how to create a villain. I didn’t like him one whit. The author also knows how to create a mystery whose solving ends up introducing surprises, twists and an unexpected boon. Sometimes I knew things the characters didn’t and sometimes they knew things that the author only revealed to me when she wanted to. I never guessed who was who and who he ended up being was still pretty darned cool. Am I being ambiguous? If I had to read through the whole thing to find out the truth, so will a reader have to. It’s worth it.

It also inhibits the same potency level just that this is much lower in price prescription cialis cost as compared to other pills and also easily available with the most popular pharmaceutical exporter. Health diseases- Heart stroke, http://icks.org/n/data/conference/1482472032_report_file.pdf generic viagra woman diabetes, hypertension, kidney problem, vascular problem etc. Plots that go awry make me smile. Lisette’s great idea ended up not so wonderful in actual practice, but it sure started in motion a unique and fascinating romance. It took me on a grand journey filled with adventures and revelations. Each step of the way showcased the strengths and weaknesses of both Max, the hero, and Lisette, the irrepressible heroine.

The internal dialogue of both Lisette and Max was oftentimes enlightening but many times humorous. I had fun watching the heroine fall under the charms of the hero. Neither one set out to seduce or be seduced but that’s what happens. It was great entertainment.

A secondary character played an integral part of moving the conflict and the romance along. It was amazing to see the spurt of jealousy that tore through Max. Equally amusing was when he actually met the guy. I really liked the fact that this character is based on an actual historical figure. It leant a certain firmness and believability to the tale.

Emotions were very much present in this novel. The lead characters had theirs trampled, lifted, dashed and healed. Every time something momentous happened, I felt right along with them. That is high praise and due to the effective writing skills of Ms. Jeffries. The dialogue was great and the romance was perfect. Well, perfect that it ended with a happy ever after. The journey was far from perfect while the hero and heroine learned about each other. The ramifications of the truths they discovered had them saying hurtful things. That’s only human and the best part is the making up. I liked that. But there is more to a happy ever after then just the romance portion. Something else happened to Max, and it made it a bittersweet kind of happy. It was healing and hopeful. I was very pleased.

What the Duke Desires is a passion-filled adventure that has humor, action, and devious storytelling. This is a busy book with a lot of intrigue and surprises to keep the pages flipping. I enjoyed the moments of wit and fun intermixed with the more serious aspects of solving the mystery. I’m most especially happy for Max because he’s finally finding peace with his role as duke. And it’s all thanks to a crazy plot from an unusual heroine, Lisette. I wonder if Tristan’s story is going to be next. If so, it’s going to be another auto-buy because in this story, he seemed synonymous with the word, trouble. How can I resist a potential hero like that?

Sookie Stackhouse finds it easy to turn down the request of former barmaid Arlene when she wants her job back at Merlotte’s. After all, Arlene tried to have Sookie killed. But her relationship with Eric Northman is not so clearcut. He and his vampires are keeping their distance…and a cold silence. And when Sookie learns the reason why, she is devastated.

Then a shocking murder rocks Bon Temps, and Sookie is arrested for the crime.

But the evidence against Sookie is weak, and she makes bail. Investigating the killing, she’ll learn that what passes for truth in Bon Temps is only a convenient lie. What passes for justice is more spilled blood. And what passes for love is never enough…

Parting is such sweet sorrow, or so they say. In this case, parting is a tremendous wrenching of a decades old love affair. In Dead Ever After, Ms. Harris ties up all the loose ends in her usual dramatic fashion. Things I thought I knew were flipped and it left me gaping in shock.

The women’s shy, cheap tadalafil no prescription Facts about cialis no prescription reserved, timid and negative psychological is the resistance for stimulating and accelerating sexual arousal. One thing I can count in this series is action. Sookie has been the target of numerous supernatural plots throughout the series but none have come close to what goes on in this book. That poor girl didn’t catch a break through most of the novel. If it’s not one thing, it’s a person come to dredge up things from the past. Surprise!

A reader should not start reading about Sookie at the end because they will never understand the shock, the heart-twisting truths or the crushing decisions that pepper this book with devastating yet effective results. This truly is the culmination of everything that readers have gone through with Sookie and pals. Read the first book, get hooked like I did but have the benefit of living in Sookie-world for thirteen roller coaster thrill rides back to back and discover the heart pounding events that take place. It’s an amazing experience. One I’m sad to see end, but after reading this, I can see the logic behind it.

Readers will see the ending of some story threads, the beginning of something else and a final ultimate conclusion to something that I’d thought was already resolved. Imagine my horrified fascination to find out there was yet one more diabolical twist that Sookie needed to face. I never, ever saw that coming. Neither did Sookie. There was more drama, suspense and nail-biting paragraphs than ever and the writing kept me spellbound.

I can’t say who she ends up with. About four books back, I started thinking it would be a good match up after all but it never seemed to build enough for me to be sure. In this final book, I’d have to settle for a happily for now because with Sookie Stackhouse, one just never knows. I mean look what happens in this book! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Ms. Harris is devious. She has never shied away from having her characters make hard choices and this author stayed true to form. I’ve read about many readers being unhappy. I’m not one of them. Yes, I’m sad because I have been following this series from the very first and there was something magical and different about the author’s writing and imagination that simply captured my interest – and never let go. I’m gloomy because it’s over. However, after reading this book and the way it ended, though no less exciting and suspenseful as those in the past, it absolutely fit. Ms. Harris tied up the loose ends the way they had to be done to keep her characters’ integrity. They were who they were and anything different would have been unnatural. It amazes me how she kept everything so together.

Are there questions left hanging? Yes – little ones. Case in point, Sookie’s nephew. Perhaps years down the line, Ms. Harris will grant readers with another visit to Bon Temps, with a visit from Aunt Sookie. Maybe it could be a holiday story or something to give us a definitive, final, sink-your-teeth-in-firmly type tale for those readers who need that extra assurance. As for me, I’m good. I accept this ending as the way it should be, Sookie Style.

Dead Ever After is hard-hitting, powerful and at times, astonishing. Yet, Ms. Harris balanced it all with a bit of humor, with writing that touched my emotions and had an ending that left me with a wistful Mona Lisa smile. I say a fond fare thee well to Bill, Eric, Alcide, Pam, Tara, Sam, Jason, Hunter, Michele and Mustpha Khan, Niall, Mr. C, Diantha and the unforgettable Quinn. My sniffles and heaviest sighs go to Sookie, a unique and special character that truly is a literary gem in the paranormal romance genre. Thank you Ms. Harris for a series that took me away to a place I’d never been before. This final book is a keeper.

As the wickedly seductive Wilde cousins seek true love by taking a page from history’s legendary love stories, Lord Jack Wilde plays a determined Romeo courting an enchanting Juliet.

The last thing Sophie Fortin expects at a masquerade ball is a dazzling kiss from a pirate. Her desire quickly falters when she learns that her masked gentleman is devilishly scandalous Lord Jack, a member of the captivating Wilde clan—and a man she’s forbidden to acknowledge. But when Jack begins a breathtaking seduction, Sophie can barely resist.

Jack never imagined that the daughter of his family’s mortal enemy would awaken such fierce passion within him—until one unforgettable kiss changes his mind forever. Soon, Jack is hell-bent on winning Sophie’s hand, going so far as to abduct her to save her from marrying a rival nobleman. Determined to woo Sophie and her unyielding parents, Jack is faced with the one decision he’d sworn never to make. The secret heir to a prince, Jack has spurned his royal heritage for years . . . but for Sophie he’ll risk all to turn a legacy of heartbreak into love ever after.

I snapped up this book based on the premise of a rake being an actual royal prince and hiding it. I thought it was one of the most romantic of plot conflicts and I couldn’t wait to start reading. I’m thrilled to say that Lover Be Mine more than met my expectations.

Below is a short overview on these three forms- Kamagra tablets are obtained in three strength of 25mg, 50mg and 100mg Kamagra soft tablets are available in different strength of dosages and recommended after diagnosing the problem, therefore, one generic cialis for women has to consult healthcare provider as soon as possible. The best-known rally sildenafil uk buy is probably the Sturgis Rally where thousands of bikers meet. Lord Jack is a character with deep depths of humor, honor, and who enjoys living up to the role he plays. And that’s what readers will eventually find out. It’s a façade to cover something way more compelling. His secret isn’t just that he’s potentially from a royal lineage – it’s the experiences that formed him when he was just a boy. I challenge any reader to be unmoved by what they’ll eventually read. I was moved and shocked, and that is a testimony to how powerful the words were that Ms. Jordan chose.

Sophie was a hot ticket. The author gave me an excellent glimpse of her character in the first chapter. The rest of the story built upon that. She’s a mixture of a woman – the best of innocence, compromised by curiosity with a yen for doing daring and naughty things. That only comes to light with her continued relationship with Lord Jack. He brings out the best in her, even things she never thought herself capable of. It was great seeing her blossom.

Beware of hot flashes. Sophie starts off as a proper young miss but once Lord Jack sets about her seduction, because he simply can’t resist her, the writing becomes quite vivid and sensual. It’s not only about learning the sexual ropes because in each scene where they do succumb to their desires, Sophie and Jack learn so much about each other and themselves. In the afterglow, instead of hazy sweet thoughts, there’s clarity, plans and intent. The hero and heroine are anything but placid and cardboard. Neither is it all sunshine and happiness. That is why when they do get together, it’s grand. It’s meaningful. And it matters.

The conflict is mostly character driven. Jack has a lot of reconciling to do about his position in life in all aspects. Somehow, Sophie fits in there but it’s never a sure thing as to how or where she’d be ending up. It’s that ambiguity that kept me flipping the pages. How are they going to figure out the important things that a healthy relationship needs to survive? On top of that, will Jacks dad survive? Will the hero really go through with accepting the crown? Who will he marry then? So many questions! And there were a lot of important turning points that happened in this novel; it was spellbinding.

Family can be a good thing, or it can make a person turn purple with laughter or chagrin. Jack experiences both. That adoration and respect for family, especially towards the end, made this book shine so much brighter. It made the emotional connection between me and the characters Ms. Jordan created. Connections like that can only be made when the writing is done right.

Lover Be Mine is a grand romance with hilarious ups and downs that gets a reader through those times when the novel plays havoc with their tender emotions. The storytelling is rich, busy, and entertaining. The dialogue provides insight and interest and kept the momentum of the plot moving right along. I missed the first book in the series and I can’t wait to get a copy and read it. With certainty, if Quinn’s story is next, it’ll be an auto-buy. I’m totally hooked on those Wilde men.

Colin Lyre, recently inherited 10th Duke of Lincoln, has been told his whole life that he is superfluous to his family.

When he must deal with the responsibility and stress that comes with his new title, he flounders rather badly. He is determined do his ‘duty’’ and marry an ‘appropriate Duchess.’

Life throws Colin’s plans wayward when he rescues the beautiful Annabelle from a ball. She makes him realize how much better his life could be, but he doesn’t know if he truly deserves such happiness.

Annabelle wants nothing to do with the responsibility of marrying a title. She simply wants to make a suitable match with a gentleman who can support her family.

Colin is Annabelle’s perfect prince until she realizes what life as his life would be like. However, making the rational decision to stay away from one another is much harder than either of them expects.

Colin Lyre, always told he was “superfluous”, begins to slowly overcome his feelings of inadequacy when Annabelle Collins makes him feel like the “most important person in the world”. It is a painful process that costs him dearly emotionally.

He is overwhelmed with his responsibilities and duties as the new Tenth Duke of Lincoln. He seems rather spineless and inept as he lets this mother and his dead brother’s wife manipulate him.

He had fit perfectly into the role of the second son of a duke—the spare. However, coping with his new role is too much and he lets it preclude protecting his wife from the vicious machinations of his mother and sister-in-law. He even seems to side with them against his heartbroken wife who is “his angel”. When she distances herself from him, he turns to drink and gambling.

Colin is a flawed hero that needs more to redeem him than most. He kept me turning pages hoping he’d get a grip and use the power he has as a duke.

Annabelle, a nineteen-year-old beauty, is without money or position. She has one Season to find a wealthy husband—no title needed. She hope for a gentle man under forty that will be wealthy enough and willing enough to help her siblings get established in life. She falls hard for Colin but knows she is not duchess material. She is a genuine, straightforward, warm, happy, talented beauty without guile—not traits that endear her to the Ton.

The Reluctant Duke entertains well. Another thorough edit would have made it even better. A few things here and there take the reader out of the story. The interesting secondary characters pretty much carry the action of the novel other than the love scenes. The hero all but retreats from the field of action; while the heroine hides and bides her time. However, each of them gains insight and courage from some of the secondary characters like the indomitable Victoria and the other three ‘spares’.

The love scenes, well-drawn and explicit, give the reader a picture of how dear and necessary Colin and Annabelle are to each other. I felt like I was just being told about many of the other scenes and actions, but through it all there is no doubt about the soul-mate connection the hero and heroine have. I did so want a scene where Colin puts his mother in her rightful place to smooth the way for Annabelle. I did get the feeling that Annabelle gained strength and a sense of her own worth and power. She will probably smooth her own way to being a notable duchess.

Two star crossed lovers, one ancient prophecy, and a secret society that will stop at nothing to keep them from fulfilling their destiny. Critically acclaimed screenwriter Mattison delivers a nail-biting thriller that blends edge of your seat excitement, religious prophecy and romance seamlessly.

On a lonely strip of Death Valley a failing musician awakens to an intriguing new life; one filled with ancient languages, a hidden identity and the woman who holds the key to unlocking his destiny…his connection to the lost pages of the Dead Sea Scrolls. But there are those who want to keep the secrets buried, and will stop at nothing to keep the prophecy from unfolding…

The Tree of Jesse is a thrilling book about a Messianic prophecy beginning to unfold, about the people who want to see it stopped and those who are excited to see it coming to pass. It was exactly like, and yet nothing like what I expected based on the blurb.

Unusually created, with numerous and incredibly short chapters that give you bites into nearly a dozen different points-of-view, it was occasionally disjointed, sometimes confusing and frustrating (I’d just be really getting into one POV when it would end and jump to another). Still, the authors writing skill and the interesting plot kept me turning pages.

Jesse is an unlikely hero–a guy in a band who’s hooked on drugs and actually overdoses. He’s saved by Mara, a woman who isn’t sure why she feels the need to help him, but does so anyway. There’s also the birth of a red calf which signals the rebuilding of Solomon’s temple and so much more. The author has clearly done her research into … well, just about everything! We have rabbis and CIA agents and music producers and Catholic bishops and … it’s amazing, convoluted, complex and fascinating. Sometimes it doesn’t move as quickly as I’d like, and I’m not sure the author couldn’t have shortened the book a bit to create more excitement and suspense, but even so it made me breathless in places.

Perhaps not a book for everyone, and not really a romance in the true sense, this book would appeal to the fans of stories of stories about folks trying to piece together a mystery, and the people who don’t want the solution to occur and are willing to use any means to accomplish their goal. Intriguing, to be sure.

Midnight Special: A new sizzling Wrong Bed story

Somewhere on the train is a key witness for a crime involving arson, murder and a high-profile businessman. And reporter Marni Clare will do whatever it takes to get the story—even if it means crashing in a sleeper car that she’s not sure she’s reserved. But when she wakes, she finds herself curled up with the man she’s seeking…and he’s hot enough to derail all her plans!

FBI special agent Hunter won’t complain about the wickedly hot blonde in his arms. And maybe it’s the medication he’s on, but he’s even agreed to share his room for the entire journey….

It’s a long trip in close quarters, and within days their berth becomes the scene of some steamy railway romps. But is Marni just having fun…or is she taking Hunter for a ride?

Reader favorite Coming On Strong: Runaway bride Belle Forsham intends to win her groom back—and she’s going to start by showing him exactly what he’s been missing….

I’m so excited!! Special Agent Hunter is on the case and he’s going to get seduced. Mr. Hot Shot got-it-all-under-control and Mr. Sneaky and Secretive is going to eat his badge, I just know it!

That’s pretty much what I was thinking as soon as I found out that the character that really intrigued me during the three book Sex and Lies series, that was dealing with the Black family, was going to be on stage, front and center. His was a personality that hooked me and I was crushed that I wasn’t going to see more of the sexy hunk of mystery. Seems Ms. Weber heard her readers because Midnight Special is all about my favorite special agent. I had high hopes for this story.

The consumption of cialis online canada the capsules for at least 3 to 4 months without any break. Useful information about Dapoxetine generic cialis without prescription tablets Interestingly, Dapoxetine is mainly used to treat depression but because it functions as an efficient anti-impotent medicinal product approved according to the standards of Food & Drug Association (FDA). All my expectations and secret wishes came true. Hunter is exactly how I pictured him – a pain in the derriere to a boss that doesn’t like his style and wants him to fail. The hero doesn’t do those things lightly or with any disrespect intended. He wants to make a difference. He has a goal. But, he has inner demons and a drive to succeed that just won’t quit. He is ‘the man’.

That is, until he meets, ‘the woman’. Marni is Hunter’s perfect foil. Hunter is good with secrets, but so is Marni. I loved the fact that she was as equally secretive as the hero to the point that he had no idea. I enjoyed the conundrum that the heroine ended up in because she knew what she knew and Hunter didn’t. It was so devious!

There were moral dilemmas, sensual overload and enough teases and physical contact to drive a man crazy. This wouldn’t be the story it was without Hunter and Marni finally getting to scratch their mutual itch. That was well worth reading and quite fun. And yet, the author never let the physical loving distract them from their feelings, their internal angst and their blossoming secret yearnings. It’s that emotional connection that makes it all work and once again, Ms. Weber nails it.

The dialogue was snappy, direct and filled with great one-liners. The pace was excellent and the seduction was a piece of art. The absolute best part? The ending. Oh wow, it was so incredibly romantic and just – WooHoo! When Hunter wants something, he knows how to get it and it’s hot right up until the final kiss. I’m a happy reader.

The next book was Coming on Strong and that was a surprise treat. Basically it’s about two lovers who really do love each other but for all the wrong reasons, and one is so filled with doubt that the wedding gets broken off. But both of them are like little volcanoes – bubbling and percolating with all those hot passions and emotions just waiting for the right stimulus to make them explode. The trigger is fate – forcing them together again in a most unlikely way. The result was a terrific read filled with lots of vim and vinegar.

Belle and Mitch were fun to watch. He chases her, then she chases him, he taunts her, she gives as good as she gets. They both re-learn what it was that drew them together but their time apart has benefited both. I got to see much more mature and self-aware adults falling in love even deeper than the first time and this go-round, they are doing it for the right reasons. They eventually end up on the same page. It’s all the shenanigans that go on prior to that point which made this novella an excellent read. Sure, there was the typical external wacko just waiting to thwart the couple. It provided a nice mystery to spice up and invigorate the plot. I felt bad for Mitch, however. Family is really important to him, even extended family, like Belle’s dad, so it was bittersweet to have my suspicions confirmed as to whom the culprit was that was making a mess of pretty much everything.

As in the first story, the dialogue is important and clever, the pacing is steady and the characters are engaging. However, the fact that Belle wanted to spiff up the resort with sexy ambiance opened Pandora’s Box to allow all sorts of tongue-in-cheek quips, jokes, innuendos and enough sass to keep Mitch guessing. Certainly, it kept my interest and I turned the pages with glee. I never knew what mischief Belle had planned.

Coming on Strong was another fun read that I completely enjoyed.

In Midnight Special a reader gets back-to-back entertainment with a lot of loving, a healthy dose of sexy antics to steam the pages and characters that spark wonderfully off of each other. The conflicts aren’t heavy but are enough to stir the emotions, and the happily ever afters deliver what romance readers expect. It’s an all-around fun reading experience.

Janet thinks Laura should take advantage of the billionaire cowboy but Laura is getting to know Colton intimately and she doesn’t give a damn about his money. True love isn’t for sale.

This book packs a wallop!

Let me start by saying I love the work of Carolyn Brown. Her cowboys simmer and the way she writes them, I can see them. Yes, she’s that descriptive. Her writing flows well and snagged me into the story right away. I know when I’ve got one of her books, I’m in for a good time.

Billion Dollar Cowboy is definitely a good time. Colton doesn’t want to be rich. Heck, he wants to run his ranch. He needs a little help, but that’s okay. Some of the things he goes through are a tad hard to believe, but people win the lottery–or wish they could–every day. I liked that story arc. The way he deals is to struggle and who wouldn’t? Going from some money to a whole LOT of money in a short time, it’s easy to see why he reacts the way he does. Laura is interesting, too, but not as much as Colton. There were times when I didn’t like her very much. Times when I wondered what the heck she was doing. But those times made me realize how emotionally involved I was in the story.

As with many of Carolyn Brown’s stories, there are a lot of characters to keep straight. At times, this is a tough order. I had to go back and re-read more than a couple times to be sure I knew who did what and why. But in the end, it was worth it.

If you love a story that’s got a homey feel with great characters, then this might be the book for you.

No longer content in the shadows of his older brothers, and on a quest to find his destiny, Bryce Fraser’s chosen path is fraught with danger, passion, and decisions. Can his unspoken love for spirited, beguiling Fallon be triumphant in a time of war and uncertainty, or will they both fall prey to the devious plans of a traitorous laird from a rival clan?

A young woman alone and making her way in the perilous times of early fourteenth century Scotland is easy prey.

Fallon MacCrery, a healer, is bereft of family after the death of her uncle that took her in after the death of her parents. Even though she’s a petite raven-haired beauty, most people avoid her because of her second sight. She has visions of deaths to come. She’s had visions of the deaths of those she loves since the age of four. She feels like her second sight is a curse that she cannot get rid of and is more inclined to run than to be proactive about impending dangers. She loves the irascible rogue Bryce Fraser, but fears he too will die if he should ever choose to commit to her. Yet, deep down in her heart she knows he is her own true love.

He is a restless soul driven by a horrifying memory of what happened to his first love while he had to watch, unable to stop the cruelty of it all. Moreover, he is wanted by the English for treason and murder. He has pledged his sword to Robert the Bruce, the man Scottish patriots feel is the true king of Scotland. After the war in Scotland is settled, he plans to go to the continent and sell his sword and skill as a warrior to the highest bidder to make his fortune. While he loves women, he commits to none—he feels unworthy after what happened to his first love. He is truly a flawed hero searching for redemption.

The relationship Fallon and Bryce forge gets tested to the nth degree as they strive to stay alive through battles, deaths, captivate and way too many harsh words between them. How love wiggles its way in amid all the strife and works its magic to nudge these two along toward their destiny kept me turning pages.

If you read B. J. Scott’s Highland Legacy, a previous novel about the Fraser clan you will get to catch up on what is going on with many characters you met in the first book. Highland Quest will give you insightful side stories about Connor and Caitlin at Fraser Castle as well as actions of the crude, older brother Alasdair who abdicated his position as Laird of the Fraser clan. He fights alongside the Bruce and tries to watch his little brother Bryce’s back in battle, all the while trying to send Bryce home to a better way of life. Their reactions to each other give the reader insight into each of their true characters.

The antagonists with their lack of conscience about their abhorrent deeds, their greed, and their lack of loyalty to Scotland create barbaric conflicts. Some of their actions create heart-pounding moments that seem to be impossible for the hero and heroine to escape.

Even though I felt as if I were on the outside looking in on the happens part of the time and the writing didn’t seem quite as polished as in the first book, I still didn’t want to put the story down because of the skillful way Ms. Scott wove together the events of turbulent times with its horrific cruelties yet never let that strong thread of love fray. Highland Quest entertains and is often spellbinding.

Vanessa Ashley felt herself qualified for a position as governess, until offered the position at Falconbridge Hall.

Left penniless after the deaths of her artist father and suffragette mother, Vanessa Ashley draws on her knowledge of art, politics and history to gain employment as a governess. She discovers that Julian, Lord Falconbridge, requires a governess for his ten-year-old daughter Blyth at Falconbridge Hall, a huge rambling mansion in the countryside outside London.

Lord Falconbridge is a scientist and dedicated lepidopterist who is about to embark on an extended expedition to the Amazon in search of exotic butterflies. An enigmatic man, he takes a keen interest in his daughter’s education, but Vanessa feels that he may disapprove of her modern methods.

This is why natural male enhancers have become a popular solution to female viagra pills erectile dysfunction. Experts say cialis 10 mg that this condition may be brought about in the early 40s by the constant presence of a wide range of chemicals. The effect remains 4 to 6 hours after taking prescription viagra browse around this it. It act as a good alternative for cialis generika and other ED medicines to let it work well and stay healthy. As she prepares her young charge to enter into the modern world, Vanessa finds the girl detached and aloof. As Vanessa learns more about Falconbridge Hall, more questions arise. Why doesn’t Blythe feel safe in her own home? Why is the death of her mother, once famed society beauty Clara, never spoken of? And why did the former governess leave so suddenly without giving notice?

The opening of The Folly at Falconbridge Hall  immediately fills the reader with anticipation; especially if you are a fan of the classic romance novel. It is England in the late nineteenth century, and the new governess Vanessa arrives at Falconbridge Hall. It is The Perfect Setting. Vanessa admits she is less than beautiful – and penniless; our perfect heroine.

She is shown in ‘to the master’s study.’ What phrase could sum up the situation better? It is both a backdrop and statement about the style of life, the man of the house, even the stature of the house. The master is neither cuddly nor dashing, and we see no great hope in him right off the bat. He is, shall we say …intriguing? With a variety of intellectual interests. There are moments when we sense kindness, yet we cannot quite be sure. There is also that rather too interested groom, Lovel, but the romance part of this romance is in no hurry. And there are no early spoilers – just hints, so I’ll make no further comment. At this point, you are as sure as I that when love arrives it will be ‘just right’ as is everything here.

Vanessa’s tale progresses at just the right pace, and we are slowly drawn into the world that is Falconbridge Hall: the community of staff, events and operations of the great hall. Ms. Andersen’s star quality is truly her superbly strong and interesting main character, yet her descriptions are worth notice as well. “…rode around the estate enjoying the titter of swallows in the trees, past the gnarled old apple trees, the grass dotted with fallen fruit after the harvest…” The genteel old world aura is enjoyably supported in the most subtle ways throughout.

Oh, but a tiny, almost unnoticed thread of disquiet twists its way through the tale. The thread regards a ‘captive’ beauty and that too, is worth waiting for. It is a curiosity, but also, perhaps, ominous. Vanessa’s life will go on an unpredictable course…Author Maggie Anderson never disappoints in the wonderful romance, that truly transports readers to this other, older world. Reading this novel is sitting down hoping for a proper tea and being served fruit cake along with the plum jam and scones. My recommendation: put this right to the top of your reading list.
