Children’s book writer Jacob Bailey has retreated to Scotland to die in solitude, tormented by the loss of the love of his life, and wishing for an end to his suffering. In his remote house on the cliff he is visited by an angel, with history and pain of his own, a being who brings far more to Jacob’s final days than he could ever hope for.

A surrealistic story that highlights the beauty of love. Warning, this is a bittersweet tale. It is not something for the faint of heart. It explores tough, painful issues and may well raise questions within the reader that are not always comfortable. I loved that aspect of it. There’s a touch of the epic within this story, for it portrays something epic, how a bright star slowly dims and comes to acceptance.

Jacob is the central focus of I Am Fallen and he is a very immediate character. I felt myself immediately connected to him and sympathetic to him without feeling pity. He’s so unflinchingly honest in his appraisal of himself and his regrets in his life. There is no part of this story that came across as soapbox sentimental. It was unique and refreshing, raw and honest.

If love angst mixed with moments of joy, you might very well enjoy this story and be taken into another place and time. Ms. Blackwell captures the experience of being chronically ill so much that what the body is capable of focusing on and perceiving becomes numbed out. Yet still being human and having yearning and feelings that render one feeling powerless, weak, beyond vulnerable. There’s a sharpness given to the moments of joy and greater awareness that Jacob experiences. He gives freely of his newfound wisdom to those around him.

This is a love story above all else. Jacob and Lucifer share a love that transcends the physical realm. They take strength from each other, they learn from each other. They grow. Lucifer’s character was well done. He contains all the passion and contradictions one would expect a fallen angel to have. I Am Fallen has a breathtaking happy ending but it is not the typical one. I loved it.

I Am Fallen really shows the versatility and depth that Ms. Blackwell possesses as an author. She tackled the tricky issues of sickness, death, regret and religion and wove them into a masterpiece of transcendence and love.

What happens when your dreams come true? Crypt Ross is about to find out after one spectacular weekend with Mack MacKenna. But will it be all that he hopes for?

Still in the closet, custom motorcycle mechanic Mack MacKenna takes his pleasure in long weekends away from home as a silent partner in a members-only style club. These weekends provide Mack with nameless, relationship-less debauchery. Although he’s out to his best friend, he still worries about his family’s reaction.

Crypt Ross is an out and proud up-and-coming young artist who has had a crush on Mack MacKenna since his senior year when Mack talked to his shop class. Since then Crypt has poured out all of his angst and unrequited love into his art, scoring himself a full-ride scholarship to art school.

What happens when Mack and Crypt come together? Will it be happily ever after or love lost?

Grease Paint by West Thornhill is the perfect novel for any reader, be it someone who has just acquired a taste for male-male romance (like me) or a long-time fan. The story between Crypt and Mack is sweet, intense and romantic from beginning to end. In barely 82 pages, Ms. Thornhill builds a romance that feels genuine.

Though we are told that Crypt is young and angsty, he is brave enough to take the first steps into building a relationship with Mack. He’s nervous around the hot shop owner but he’s also confident enough to put his heart on the line and that makes him a true hero.

On the other hand, Mack is very good looking and loves to take little getaways to escape from his family (by the way, I loved the original club where he parties), but I didn’t find a connection with him like I did with Crypt.

The sex was hot, but also sensual and romantic. The kisses between Mack and Crypt were especially thrilling, the author painting a good picture of the sensations and tastes coursing through both men.

Hannah and Tuck, the guy’s best friends deserve a special mention as their love and support was important for the happy ending. They were both really sweet and I enjoyed the level of intimacy they shared with their respective friends.

Grease Paint is a fun, quick, sexy read, thoroughly enjoyable for both the mm newbies and the experts at any time.

On the eve of his annual medical, Darcy Reed visits his favorite club to calm his nerves. He wasn’t looking for love but finds more than he expected in the arms of his physician Dr Sheridan Scott.

Getting up close and personal is not what people expect when they go for their annual medical, but Darcy Reed has to try hard not to enjoy it too much. He has a thing for doctors and this year his medical is about to get interesting.

On the eve of his medical, he visits his favorite club in search of the mind-numbing release only alcohol can bring. Instead, he meets the enigmatic Sheridan Scott.

The chance encounter is only the beginning. Sheridan is a doctor and Darcy is about to get more than he bargained for when he goes for his physical. Darcy hasn’t had much luck in love. Will Sheridan be just what the doctor ordered?

A doctor and a police officer walk into a bar, and when they leave their lives are changed forever. Well, maybe he’s not a cop but a tech specialist for the police, but he’s still close enough for me. Either way two sexy men in uniforms create some wickedly good pictures in my mind.

Darcy seems to be the hopeless romantic type that I hear about, but never actually meet. I like to think they’re out there, but they’re very illusive. His shaky past relationship left him with little hope of finding Mr. Right. While I liked Darcy’s chaste lifestyle, I wish I could have learned a bit more about his relationships. Part of me questions if his virtue was maintained just because of his hopeless romantic behavior or his past lover’s thoughtless attitude towards him. Either way it made a wonderful man just waiting for Dr. Scott to come and claim him as his own.

Dr. Sheridan Scott is everything Darcy needs and wants. I love how he seems to anticipate Darcy’s needs and is willing to meet them all the way. One thing I did question was in the beginning he seemed to be just enjoying life and looking for a quick hookup, but that quickly changes when he meets Darcy. I would have liked to have seen a bit more to understand why he felt the need to seek something more permanent from Darcy. However, I will say I would have done the same in his position.

The plot of this story is based around the relationship development of Darcy and Sheridan. I was completely caught up in the relationship from beginning to end which made this a very easy read. The story moves at a brisk and comfortable pace, the pages just seemed to fly by, I finshed and was surprised I had read over a hundred pages so quickly. This is a story I would recommend to anyone who loves a romance story with an erotic twist.

However, things soon become more complicated, and she finds herself, falling hard and fast for one of the twins.

Part of the appeal of reading a story is living vicariously through the characters and that’s what happens in Personal Tutor. We can sympathize with Daniella because she seems to have a run of bad luck. Divorce, and now the prospect of a job she knows she’ll hate, but the bills are piling up. However, along comes an opportunity to be a ‘personal tutor’ to a hunky guy. This is the point in the story where I asked myself, if I was her, would I sleep with this man for the money that would pay off my debt?

The author did a great job making me feel like I needed to answer that very question. I think that’s because Daniella is portrayed as someone quite realistic. She could actually be one of your best friends who’s going through a rough patch which I felt was the most enjoyable part of this story. There’s that push pull thing that makes this sort of story fun, too. And when she does make the decision, I felt like I was actually thrown into her next dilemma; two hunky guys waiting for attention.

If you’re looking for a story with a blend of just about everything…romance, mystery, paranormal elements, you’ll love this story.

I enjoyed it from start to finish and especially liked the pairing of the police detective and witch. Ms. De Sues did a wonderful job drawing me into the story. The opening scenes are described in such a way I really felt like I was in the scene experiencing this area of the California coast, and the community of witches.

Daniel, her partner in helping her solve the vicious murder, is likeable and very realistic. Even though he’s a mortal and she’s not, you get a feeling that this will be a good match, both on and off the job.

Despite this being a full length novel, the pacing was fast. I found myself reading more and more at each sitting to find out what would happen next. The secondary characters are well drawn too and everyone’s dialogue is natural sounding. I thought the mystery and romance was well balanced. I must admit I’m partial to a good suspense story. Sometimes it only takes an instant to know your fate. Guy is certain the beautiful model he meets by chance in a bar one night is his mate. Yet Jacob is not quite as willing to give into Guy’s domineering ways. When Guy realizes Jacob could be the next target of a serial killer, he has to decide whether to confide in Jacob about his magic or try to protect the man without him knowing.

Modeling Death is a decent enough book with extreme characters and a focus more on sex appeal than the murder-mystery portion. The main characters, Jacob and Guy, are thinly developed and pretty shallow. They are one-dimensional in that they are simply perfect exaggerations. Jacob is gorgeous, sweet, super successful but never bitter or mean instead he’s the most kind model there ever was, the most hard working, the most beloved of all clients and photographers. He’s so perfect that it’s hard to feel any connection since he never steps out of that perfection into any realness. The story has a murder mystery plot with a serial killer going after models but this never really materializes much. Additionally there is a paranormal aspect with Guy being a wizard and Jacob having some kind of latent magic he doesn’t know about but this element isn’t well described so much as simply stated. The writing is decent with an emphasis on the cute interactions between Jacob and Guy. There are a few sex scenes to satisfy fans and mostly this serves as an easy enough to read but forgettable story.

This is apparently a sequel to an existing book but I think it easily can be read on its own. Fans of the author are likely to appreciate the book as it stays within the same parameters as most of her books. The same positive and negative qualities seem to persist from book to book without much change so if you’re familiar with Kell you know what you’re getting. It’s a fun book to pass the time with.

For over a year, widowed Cameron Jackson has tried to juggle his business with childcare for his two year old daughter…all while living with Deefur, a Great Dane who believes he rules the house.

Nannies last a day; some don’t even make it through the front door if the self-proclaimed ruler doesn’t approve. Something has to give. Enter Jason Everson, nanny, teacher in training, apparent dog whisperer, and the only man who seems to make it past the initial scrutiny of the king. Can Jason help Cam put his house in order and help to heal his heart?

RJ Scott has the ability to write stories about everyday people and the struggles they go through in life. This a beautiful story that shows what happens after you find your soul mate only to lose them to death and what happens when the survivor is left to pick up the pieces.

The last eighteen months have not gone as Cameron had planned. He’s a widower left to care for his two year old daughter and one large rambunctious dog. He’s trying to keep some since of normalcy in his life the best he can but between work and caring for his daughter, the care of their dog has fallen to the wayside. The dog, Deefur, rules Cameron’s house and in the process scares off all potential nannies for his child away. Coming to a tough decision he decides to put the dog his deceased husband loved dearly up for adoption.

Jason is a very likeable character. He’s going through his own set of problems but still finds time to volunteer at the local animal shelter. He is going to collage to become a teacher and while finishing up his studies he is trying to find a job as a nanny. Like other branded drugs, they too are required to pass through free viagra samples easily. Cameron and Jason meet by chance but soon realize they could help each other out. Cameron wants desperately to keep Deefur and find a nanny that won’t fear his dog; Jason wants to save the dog from life at the shelter and get a nanny position. The stars aligned and put these two men in each other’s path and a bond is formed.

I really enjoyed how the author took the coupling of Jason and Cameron slow. We get to read how these men grow and become more than just friends. Cameron is hesitant to start anything with Jason due to the whole employee/employer relationship but also because Cameron feels like he is betraying his dead husband, the love of his life. The one thing Cameron has to realize is sometimes in life you can get second chances at happiness you just have to be willing to grab it with both hands and take that leap of faith.

Deefur Dog was a sweet, touching love story that actually had me tearing up. I’m a fan of real life everyday characters and there’s nothing more real and more heart wrenching then dealing with the death of a loved one. This story puts forth the knowledge just because someone you care died doesn’t mean you stop living. This book was a slow, easy read that takes you on a journey into Cameron and Jason’s life. Deefur may just be a dog but he played matcher maker in this tell. For all dog lovers and romantics at heart this will be a book you would be glad you read.

Jordan Armstead is not a ballet fan, so finding himself at the Opera House with his family, watching his niece in ‘The Nutcracker’, is not his idea of a good time. That is until a god-like specimen wearing little more than a loin cloth and simmering oil appears on stage, effortlessly partnering his female counterpart through the sensuous ‘Arabian’ pas de deux.

That night, when the very same man, after suffering a potentially career ending injury, appears in the emergency room where Jordan is a nurse, Jordan finds himself as attracted to the man as he was to the dancer. The attraction is mutual, and they share a magical twenty four hours. But at the end of it, Jordan finds himself wondering if he’s impulsively given his heart to someone who has more important things to do than think about a one night stand. Against the backdrop of Christmas trees, sugar plums and falling snow, two men with absolutely nothing in common find out that where the heart is concerned, it just doesn’t matter at all.

Can two completely different men take the Grand Jete and risk all to be together? This charming Christmastime tale about a pair of unlikely lovers warms the heart like a cozy holiday fireside.

The male leads in this book both followed non-traditional career roles. One, a nurse and the other, a ballet professional, were written as strong and confident protagonists. The witty banter was lighthearted and I laughed out loud several times from the clever dialogue. I was especially impressed by the way the author created a completely believable world with plot lines that were well paced, and secondary characters that truly enhanced emotional climate of the story. In real life, this romance would seem impossible, as there was not much angst involved. The true beauty of this story is that it captured the magical spirit of the holiday and left me smiling. The love scenes were also written well, as the emotion was well conveyed not only with words spoken between lovers but also with a surprisingly detailed description of the background. Kudos to the author for including in these scenes the practice of safe sex. Both men value the safety of their partner above their sexual needs.

Edits on this book were carefully done, with very few spelling or grammatical errors. Each sentence flowed into the next effortlessly, with the storyline progressing to the finale. It reminded me of a well performed ballet, almost perfectly choreographed and executed.

Fans of M/M romance will love this feel good tale of blossoming love during the winter snow. Grand Jete was a treat to read and I highly recommend it. I’ll end with my favorite quote from this holiday romance, “It’s almost like magic, having you here now. I still don’t quite believe it.”
