But when whole paranormal families begin disappearing in her quiet Texas suburb, Eva knows that it’s time to set her pride aside and join the other refugees heading to Noctem Falls for protection.

Adriel Aristaios doesn’t know what to make of the small human his commander is mated to. Bethy assures him that Meryn is sane, but he’s not so sure. When racial tensions threaten to boil over and sink the city in chaos, Adriel surprisingly finds himself relying on wacky little Meryn and his mate to help keep things from turning violent. But as more information comes to light, it’s clear that someone is out to destroy his city. The question is will they find them in time?

I really did enjoy this novel because it made me giggle in too many places to count. I loved the characters, their relationships to each other and the new scenery. There was drama because the running suspense plot is still going strong as it’s been throughout the series. Adriel and Eva were very good together.

I liked that Eva was an extremely strong heroine and her shifter form was nothing to mess with. I appreciated the fact that Adriel respected her skill set enough not to pull the ‘I protect my female, she obeys me’ shtick. He’s a smart hero and strong in his own right.

The reason for a lower rating than what I wanted to give is because this book was supposed to be about Eva and Adriel. This was to be their story, or so I thought. For the beginning of the book the only new person I met was Adriel along with many of the characters from previous novels. In fact, I believe a quarter of the book was introducing readers to the new digs, Noctem Falls. The secondary character that stole the show was the ever-quipping, irreverent and brilliant chaos-maker, Meryn, the diminutive firecracker and wife of Adriel’s commander, Adrien. I’m starting to think that Meryn is as much a recurring story arc as the dreaded ferals, now called Reapers. I like her character, I really do – she makes me laugh and I get her jokes and I just adore how she wraps big, bad Adrien around her little finger. But this story is supposed to make me connect, care and become engaged in rooting for Eva and Adriel and I don’t feel I spent enough time with them watching their relationship, with all its quirks, grow and blossom. Because of all the inside jokes, the reference to Keelan and other past events, I would not classify this novel as a standalone read. Readers really do need to have read some of the previous stories to understand the undercurrents that are woven throughout this story.

Another thing was the sheer number of secondary characters that converse all on the same page – many times I got lost. I had to keep backing up to figure out who was speaking at that moment. And I could have sworn Meryn made a mistake and mentioned great-great nephews but that should have been reversed and it should have been uncles, or great cousins, or something, but not nephews. Nephews and nieces are the offspring of the future, it’s uncles, grandfathers and possibly cousins that are in the past, right? So, someone missed that.

For all of the confusion and mayhem, this is still a fun book to read because the characters are so eminently likeable, the humor truly made me laugh out loud and I adore Meryn. I just wish I got to know Eva and Adriel as well. I mean a tiger and a vampire? It’s a great combination! And I really liked it when a very special book was shared and what was revealed affected every single person in the room. It was bittersweet and poignant.

I have no problems recommending My Guardian to fans of the series; they’ll get the references and jokes. If they adore Meryn like I do, she’ll add to the enjoyment and perhaps mitigate the fact that Eva and Adriel’s romance isn’t as strong a focus as they might expect. There is a wonderful happy ever after and that’s a positive for the book too. The set up hook for the next book was well done and I’m more than ready to discover Declan’s mate and how that romance evolves. Overall this is an amazing series and I’ve enjoyed reading every single one. That includes My Guardian.

Fun loving wolf-shifter Colton Albright’s usual concern…his next meal, has been replaced by haunted dreams. The nightly visions of the sad, anxious face of his mate have this jovial jokester withdrawing from his fellow Alpha Unit members.

Rheia Bradley is a dedicated professional that lives to help others, but has long forgotten how to help herself. When she arrives in Lycaonia seeking the protection of the warrior units, Colton is ecstatic to discover that she’s his mate. His relief is quickly eclipsed by one small problem, a tiny, solemn four-year-old girl who happens to be his mate’s adopted daughter. Which means… he is now a father!

While Rheia settles into her new job, Colton and all his fellow warriors are about to get a crash course on little girls. The men quickly learn that not one ounce of their centuries-long training has prepared any them for this precocious child.

When Rheia uncovers something about their enemy that puts her name next to her daughter’s on their hit list, Colton is willing to do anything to keep his new family safe. But will it be enough?

Ms. Alder is a genius at weaving a story plot arc that grows, intrigues, and grips a reader to the point that one never wants to stop. My Healer clinched it for me. The novels in this series are not standalones after all because even though, in this case, Rheia and Colton are the stars, the sense of continuous community abounds. Everyone I met in the previous two books is present although they act like moons orbiting a planet. The point of view is strictly Rheia and Colton’s but Aiden and Meryn, Gavriel and Beth, and others are still relevant and important players on the stage and contribute mightily to the plot conflict, momentum and family atmosphere. My enjoyment level because of it, is immense.

The sense of humor and pop culture references are alive and well with Dr. Who being primary. There is also a shift in the series, a slight darkening and the realization that the external conflict, the feral attacks, are not what everyone is used to fighting. There are some surprises in store for the reader as well as the main characters. The elements of drama and suspense are sinking their teeth more deeply as the story unfolds and in doing so creates in me a drive to read as fast as I can.

One of the surprises early on is the fact that this time around, Colton gets something extra along with his new mate – a daughter. I appreciated how the author handled the youngest addition to the family and how important a role she ends up being. The story is filled with moments showing just how loving, noble, protective and honorable all members of the units, particularly Alpha Unit, can be.

I appreciate that fact that, in each book so far, Ms. Alder takes the time to provide for a reader the justification of her main characters falling in love so fast. Each way has been unique. This is a paranormal romance series with magic, both fae and witch, and its influence is powerful, acceptable and believable.

There is a definite richness to this series and My Healer continues the enrichment. Once the sensual build up erupts to its natural conclusion, the physical loving is as hot and delicious as a reader who prefers that level of openness could wish. Colton may be the jokester but when it comes to loving Rheia, he’s as serious a lover as a lover could be.

Ms. Alder has another winner with My Healer and is not to be missed. This is turning out to be a gripping, exciting and well written series that is blowing me away. This particular novel has an emotional depth that the first two didn’t quite reach, and I credit it to the introduction of Penny. Nothing shows what type of character a person has as when they deal with a young child. This book rocked on so many levels and is an easy recommend. Paranormal romance readers simply have to give this series a whirl. It’s amazing!

Gavriel Ambrosios has been dreaming of his accident prone mate for weeks. Now that he is nearing the apex of his vampiric transition, she has made her way to Lycaonia, just when he is at his most dangerous.

Elizabeth Monroe was planning on staying in Lycaonia while humans forgot about the swan dive she took out of her boss’s office window. Little did she know that this short side trip was about to become permanent. Gavriel is the mate she has always dreamed of. Even as he sweeps her off her feet his need to protect her has him pushing her away. She’s both concerned with and drawn to his darker nature, but is determined to see him through his transition.

In the shadows their enemy has targeted Gavriel when they know he is at his most vulnerable. They creep ever closer to the Alpha estate putting the men on high alert.

But as the days get shorter and the nights get longer Elizabeth begins to wonder, which is the bigger threat? The enemy or her mate?

Profile of rapid cycling try these guys cialis for order most frequently observed. Ms. Alder has done it again – thoroughly entertained me while providing a fascinating romance that kept me glued to its pages. My Protector has some interesting surprises for readers.

My biggest joy comes from the fact that Meryn and Aiden are still around. They are now secondary characters to Elizabeth and Gavriel’s story yet as strong as they are, do not undercut the new hero and heroine on stage. In fact, they add to Elizabeth and Gavriel’s story in more ways than I thought possible.

One of the most amazing things about this novel is the busyness of all the action, verbal dialogue and repartee, and the fact that so many people are coming on board. There are so many it made my head spin but kudos goes to Ms. Alder for making it work, keeping it making sense and never letting the main couple be overwhelmed by all the action. It was like an organized soccer match where everyone worked as a team to get the ball (plot) into the net (HEA). I am suitably impressed.

I hope readers are going to be as fascinated by Gavriel as I am. He has a surprising history and is truly worthy of the title of ‘hero’. I also appreciate his fascination, worry, caring and love that he exhibits towards Elizabeth.

Elizabeth is a funny bunny. Okay, so she’s a klutzy bunny, but she’s a great heroine because she is smart, clever, wise, comical, and loves Dr. Who. What’s not to like?

As far as physical love goes, it’s a bit complicated loving a vampire – especially one who likes a little kink. That scene is certainly hot but what comes afterwards is full of emotions, decisions and is a character driven plot conflict. I appreciate Elizabeth all the more because she’s not all about the drama, but the loving. I respect that.

The problem of the soulless ferals attacking people in the town becomes a lot more complicated in My Protector. More revelations are revealed but it generates more questions. I truly believe that I can guess one person who might be involved in the evilness that is happening but the author is not ready for readers to find out the true motive. There’s more conflict coming and I can’t wait to find out what it might be. Talk about a story hook!

My Protector is another winner from Ms. Alder. Truly, this is only the second installment but if the books following are this good, I’m in it for the long haul. The author has created a vibrant, exciting and detailed world that I can’t wait to visit again. This book probably could stand on its own but having read My Commander previously, my enjoyment of My Protector was off the charts, better than the first. Therefore, I do recommend reading the first book before this one – it makes Meryn more funny, Gavriel more fascinating and the overall plot conflict that much more intriguing. This is a fast, gripping read and an easy recommend.
