When her new neighbor’s loud music continues to interrupt her bubble baths, Marissa Coldtrail decides enough is enough. It’s time to teach the metalhead a lesson. It’s time to put the infuriating man in his place once and for all. Then she sees him—and wonders just how to get the hunk in bed without losing her cool.

Brian Levine is amused by the dark beauty from next door. Her voluptuous body makes him want to turn the volume down, but he’s never been that much of the agreeing type. Still, there are other ways to resolve a friendly neighborly dispute.

Like finding a way to cool her vicious temper. Like showing her that bubble baths can’t please like metalheads can…

Marissa Coldtrail loved shedding the days stress by sinking into a nice hot bubble bath; there, all her troubles would disappear. With candles casting a soft light and the sweet sounds of Luther Vandross playing, Marissa would simply lay back, close her eyes and drift into a state of bliss. That was until her next door neighbor decided to blast heavy metal music disturbing her bliss by rattling the walls. When yelling and banging on the walls doesn’t help, Marissa decides it’s time to meet the person who ruined her relaxation.

Brian Levine, fresh from the Midwest, used heavy metal music to relax after a hard day’s work. He had no idea his choice of music was disturbing anyone until Marissa cornered him in the hallway and told him that his music was ‘loud, foul and obnoxious’. He thought it was amusing that she was upset because he had interrupted her bubble bath with his music, he was less amused when she started calling him Metalhead.

It was inevitable that Marissa and Brian were going to end up together despite their differences, which made for a very enjoyable read. It had this reader smiling throughout and it was fun to see how Marissa, who had never dated anyone who was not the Denzel Washington type, became so drawn to Brian.

Marissa and Brian were charming. I especially enjoyed watching Marissa when she tried to explain to Brian how important a bubble bath is to the well being of a person. Brian’s confusion was pretty typical of a man when she proceeds to give him bubble bath facts; so is his solution to the dilemma.

The way these two characters were presented was so appealing that I wished this novella was more than 35 pages. This reader became engrossed in their love affair and was chuckling as Marissa tried to introduce Brian to soul music and he tried to get her to listen to Led Zeppelin. Bubble Bath Delight was a fun read which I’m sure will appeal too many, pick up a copy and see for yourself.

Five years ago, budding photographer Jessamyn Daniels lost a plum fashion assignment that would have put her on the map, to her then boyfriend well known photographer Dillon Grant. Feeling betrayed, she ended the relationship and for the next five years managed to avoid him while she rose in the ranks of the industry.

Dillon Grant never got over the love of his life, Jess. When the opportunity comes along to work beside her on a shoot, he calls in every last favor owed him to ensure it happens.

Though the situation on the day of the shoot is awkward at first, Jessamyn soon realizes she’s never lost her desire for the talented artist, while he will do anything to bring them back together as they once were.

Jessamyn Daniels and Dillion Grant are photographers who are also in love with one another. Their love was shattered when Dillion got the Baxter Cosmetics million dollar photography campaign which Jess also wanted. Dillion tried to explain to her that he did not steal the contract from her but Jessamyn did not want to hear it, as far as she was concerned he had betrayed her.
Five years later Jessamyn and Dillion are paired together to work on a campaign for Trend Magazine. Jess  still feels betrayed by him. Dillion, on the other hand, is looking forward to working with Jessamyn because he still loves her. The voice of reason comes in the form of Jessamyn’s best friend and model, Kate Fullerton who basically tells her to get over herself.

Jess and Dillion were two very likeable characters, however, I could not quite understand the feeling of betrayal she felt towards him. Then to not have contact for over five years and still feel betrayed was hard for this reader to comprehend. The character of Kate was fun because she said what she felt and didn’t pull any punches with Jess when she told her that the problem was her and not Dillon.

Focused Desire is a good story and Paige Bennett is an excellent writer, however, the ending did seem a little rushed. I would have liked to know a little more about the characters, but overall it was a pleasant way to spend an hour.

Popular blogger Danyiah Jackson is known for finding the humor in anything–until some of her fan mail turns threatening and a stalker makes it clear he’s been watching her. She grudgingly accepts the advice of a threat assessment expert and disappears from the online world, taking temporary refuge at a family friend’s quarter horse ranch in the country.

Head horse wrangler Adam Cooper isn’t thrilled about the smart-mouthed young woman suddenly living and working at the ranch–even if she’s drop-dead gorgeous. But their verbal sparring sets his body ablaze and gets his heart racing, and he’s drawn to her despite his misgivings.

However as Danyiah and Adam fight their attraction, her stalker draws near, putting not only their fledgling love, but their lives on the line.

A pampered city girl moves to a rough and tough country setting, complete with a rugged, handsome cowboy – who happens to be irritated by every move she makes. That’s the beautiful set up to Wild Horses.

Danyiah Jackson is a typical city girl. She likes shopping, sipping latte and blogging. When a crazed stalker begins sending her messages, she’s forced to set her blogging, and her many followers, aside and hide away on a remote horse ranch owned by an old friend. For security reasons, her true reason for staying at the ranch remains a secret and instead she’s put to work as a ranch hand.

Adam Cooper, the lead horse wrangler, is immediately annoyed by Dani’s presence. Her high heels, painted nails and request of a soy chai latte tells him all he needs to know about the type of help she would be. He begins by teaching her lessons on ranch life – the hard way. To his surprise, however, Dani is a quick learner, and within days she’s not only keeping up, she actually becomes help in a crisis.

The progression of Dani and Adam’s relationship was wonderful to read. The transition from antagonists to lovers was paced wonderfully and I sat at the edge of my seat wondering where the relationship would go next. These two were not star-crossed, their relationship was initially physical, but as they continued, the feelings each felt for the other started to develop and I was rooting for them to find a way to stay together.

The underlying mystery of Dani’s stalker took a bit of a backseat and mostly served as a way to place her at the ranch, but it still helped the story along. I did have to remind myself of who the stalker was, once the identity was revealed, but the wonderful relationship between Dani and Adam made up for any weaker points the rest of the story may have had.

In the end, things were not exactly wrapped up, but the impression is left that Dani and Adam got their happily ever after. I would have liked to have seen how that worked – did Dani move to be closer to Adam? Did she fall in love with the life? Things may have been hinted, but we never really get a definitive answer.

With that aside, the story was a joy to read. I’ll definitely put Ms. King on my list of authors to read in the future, and if you enjoy a good love/hate relationship, this is a great short story to pick up!

Nyree Grant, a rising singing sensation discovered on YouTube®, longs to meet a man who can match her in the passion department.

Jack Harris, a successful contractor, has become obsessed with the beautiful singer after seeing her internet video. He’s thrilled when she’s set to play some concerts in his city. His goal is to meet, and to have, the lovely chanteuse.

It is lust at first sight for the two and they soon find that they make beautiful music together.

Jack Harris couldn’t get the image of Nyree Grant out of his mind or his dreams. He couldn’t close his eyes at night without having erotic fantasies about her and he wanted to make those fantasies a reality. His chance came when he heard that she would be performing in his city and he decided that he would take the night off, buy a ticket, and finally meet his dream woman.

Nyree Grant had been discovered on YouTube and had finally realized her dream of becoming a singer. Happy that her life had finally taken off in the direction she wanted it to go, she was also sad that she had no one to share it with. She wanted more but realized that her singing may be her entire life, and love would have to take a back seat for now.

As Nyree prepared to walk out onto the club stage, she saw a man sitting at one of the tables. She couldn’t understand why her heart was beating so fast and when they made eye contact and he smiled, she was done for. Jack felt the same way when Nyree looked at him and he knew he had to have her. As she sang he felt like she was singing for him alone.

The main issue I had with this novella is how most of the book was taken up by the fantasies each of the characters was having about one another. When they finally did get together it was unlike anything they had fantasized. The story was good but it would have been nice if the characters were fleshed out a bit more. They knew very little about one another and she didn’t even know his name before she took off her clothes.

I found the story to be well written, the characters likeable, but you couldn’t really get into the story because before you knew it, it was over. That’s fine if you’re looking for a quick read that doesn’t require you to become vested in the characters emotionally. It is a nice way to spend a half hour or so and simply enjoy it for what it is: a glance into two peoples fantasies and first meeting. If a few minutes is all you have, pick up a copy of Beautiful Music.

When the two meet the attraction is instantaneous, the heat palpable, but a big misunderstanding threatens to keep them apart.

Jared Whitman has to take the place of his deceased father by walking his baby sister down the aisle and dancing with her at her wedding. The only problem is that Jared can’t dance and his sister Carrie has signed him up for dance lessons, which he absolutely does not want to take. However, he cannot deny his sister anything and agrees to take the lessons. He just knows there will be only senior citizens in his class and he’ll become the object of some seniors’ desire. As he walks into the class, he hears latin music and all his fears have become a reality, all he sees are seniors dancing.

Diandra Davis is a dance instructor at The Loft dance studio waiting for her new student to come in, hoping that he doesn’t step on her feet all night. As she looked towards the door her heart stops, her skin gets all tingly and the most beautiful man she has ever seen walks in. She takes one look at him and he at her and all speech seems to leave. She has never wanted someone so badly and so quickly before; there’s immediate chemistry.

The conflict of the story deals with some intentional as well as unintentional misuderstandings. While that’s not an unusual trope in a storyline it’s the misunderstandings between them and the way they work it out that made for an endearing story.

These two characters were sweet and even though the story was short they were very well developed. It was fun to see the immediate attraction between the characters and how his friend Stan explained some facts about women to him. The story kept my attention and I found myself smiling, and wishing that it was just a little bit longer.

Cheek to Cheek is one of those stories that will put you in a good mood, read it and see for yourself, I think you’ll be glad you did.

Two years ago, Leilani Agawa made the worst mistake of her life. To her mortification, the sole person who witnessed it was her coworker and pain in her backside, Rogan Davidson. However, after the pact she makes with three of her best friends, Leilani is determined to leave the past behind. Accepting a new promotion seems to be a good way to start. The problem is she will have to work closely with Rogan and the man is a distraction—a drop dead gorgeous, sexy-as-sin distraction.

Rogan Davidson can’t get Leilani Agawa out of his head—not since that one night that happened between them two years ago. He saw a side of Leilani he never knew existed, and he wants to get to know her better. If only he could get her to take his proposition seriously. When he and Leilani are paired together for a two-week work related road trip, he sees his chance. Now all he has to do is show Leilani that he’s worth more than just being her secret pleasure.

Leilani Agawa met her three best friends Teagan, Carissa and Alana her freshman year of college; now years later they are still close friends and meet every Friday night for sushi. They’re all work-a-holics and Teagan feels its time to change up a few things. Leilani is not so sure about this, and since two years ago she fell for a loser of a man, she was hesitant to take this step. After a little conjoling from her friends, Leilani soon saw the challenge and decided that she would try to change her life as well. Rogan Davidson is a colleague of Leilani who two years ago walked in on her attempted seduction of the loser son of the boss, Garry. He has been enamored of her ever since but has kept his distance waiting for her to notice him. He decided that he has waited long enough and has managed to get her to work closely with him, which would also help her get the promotion she wants. She’s not thrilled about this because she is attracted to Rogan but thinks he would not like a girl like her, especially after the seduction fiasco. Rogan is determined to get her in his bed, but Leilani, even though she wants to be there, cares about what people would say about a relationship between them especially when she gets the promotion. She wants to keep any relationship they have a secret and he wants everyone to know.

Rogan and Leilani fit so well, their back and forth banter kept me interested and smiling at times because I just knew that they would somehow get past all the “what ifs” and get together.  Teagan was entertaining because, as Leilanis’ sounding board, she didn’t pull any punches. When Leilani called to tell her she made the mistake of having sex with Rogan, Teagan gasped and asked her if he was bad in bed. When Leilani told her no that they had shower sex, Teagan sighed and said ‘there’s nothing like morning shower sex.’ This character was funny, direct and the kind of girlfriend every woman should have.

As I said, the story was entertaining and the only negative is that it would have been nice to see how Teagan got with Jonas because one minute she was saying how she wanted to be bad, then the next time she and Leilani spoke she was with Jonas. I know this was a story about Leilani and Rogan but a little side story for Teagan would have been nice also. Regardless, this is a good story and one I’m sure everyone will enjoy.

His group of friends are there to help with his broken heart…but it’s his old pal Derica who suddenly has him hot with desire.

Derica Washington nursed a crush on her friend J.L. for years while he went through a string of girlfriends and never gave her a second look. But now he’s broken-hearted, alone, and his sights are set on her at last. She’s determined not to give in to him, though turning the love ’em and leave ’em attitude on him is tempting. Joshua Lee Merrill, or J.L., was a cause for concern for his friends because he had just been dumped by his girlfriend of nearly a year. His friends Cole, Jessalyn, Derica and Kashayla practically had to drag him out of bed so that they could cheer him up.

Derica, who has had a crush on him for a while, was sad to hear he was upset but glad Lily was out of the picture. He’s saved up and is planning to finally leave his small town for good, just as she steps back into his life. One touch, one feel of her lips might get her out of his system…

Brady had a huge crush on her in high school but Niara never knew he felt that way. To her he was just the sweet kid who helped out at the school paper. Brady had previously decided to leave town, but first had to see if Niara was really back. When Niara takes one look at her new handyman she finds that she is very attracted to him. Feeling this attraction to Brady, Niara is a little skittish about acting on it so she calls her friend Deena for advice. Of course Deena, being a no nonsense grab it now kind if girl, tells her to go for it, especially when she finds out he is leaving.

It was fun getting to know Niara and Brady and to see how their relationship blossomed. Of course there were misunderstandings which any good story has, but it was interesting to see how they solved them and made it back to each other. The sex scenes were hot and made you wish you could find a guy like Brady. The only negative I have is that I wasn’t ready for the story to end, I was hoping that her friend Deena would make an appearance and really stir things up. Maybe there will be a followup story with Deena coming for a visit? That would be fun. Overall I have to say this was a really good story and I enjoyed it.

Chance Cutter didn’t know what to do. He was at a loss. For years, he used his winning smile and charm to win over women who crossed his path, but when he wanted those traits to work the most, they didn’t. He had done something he never thought he would ever in his life…he had fallen in love. Unfortunately, the woman who made him want to turn in his bachelor card hated him.

Emerald Stone wouldn’t believe a word that came out of Chance’s mouth. He had gotten his way for too long and he wasn’t used to hearing the word “no.” However, she was here to give him a crash course in leaning what the word meant. There was just one teeny tiny problem. Chance didn’t know it, but she was falling for his dimpled smile and carefree ways.

What in the hell was she going to do? She wanted a hunk of her own, but how in the world did Chance end being the man who wanted to fill those shoes?

When I sit down to read a book I want to become completely involved in the lives of the characters I’m reading about.  If the opening paragraph does not grab my attention then I know that the rest of the story will probably not interest me. This book however threw me right into the deep end by introducing me to the main character by way of his attitude.

Chance Cutter is a love-them-and-leave-them kind of guy. His best friends Nash and Brian are blissfully happy because they found the love of their lives, which Cutter can’t and won’t understand. He couldn’t imagine being with the same woman for the rest of his life. The author gave me a little insight into the bitterness Cutter feels towards relationships and how he manages to alienate his two best friends because of this. His attitude changes when he meets the assistant medical examiner, Emerald Stone, who, unbeknownst to him, is the best friend of Nash and Brian’s girlfriends.

Emerald wants nothing to do with him and as the story progressed, I found out that there was a reason behind her dislike of him, even though he makes it his mission in life to pursue her. This story was enjoyable and entertaining and had characters that were likeable and who made me care about them. I got to see behind Chance’s bitterness to the vulnerability he tried to keep hidden. I also got to see the close relationship Emerald had with Nash’s fiancée, Shauntie, and Sapphire who is Brian’s girlfriend.

This book is part of a series but can be read as a standalone. My only problem with the book is that I felt the author rushed the ending. Without giving too many details, I simply felt the author wanted to end the book and did not fully flesh out the ending. It needed just a little something more that would make you say “yes, I’m glad she did that”. That being said, I still enjoyed the book and it was a good read.
