Dena stood her ground waiting until he stopped directly in front of her-toe to toe. Her eyes lifted from his broad chest to his face. His breath caressed her skin in whispery touches. This close she could see the small lines around his eyes and the long length of his eyelashes. She’d photographed numerous crime scenes and witnessed the arrest of several criminals, so she knew the eyes of a killer. This man did not have those eyes. Predator yes. Murderer no. The sea-blue depths emanated tranquility, but there was something else there as well.

Trained to see things others didn’t, Dena’s head tilted while studying him trying to see what evaded her eyes. Engrossed in his features, almost drawn to him on a level her mind didn’t understand, her body leaned forward. He didn’t move away, but his pupils tracked every move she made. Dena focused on his eyes letting her own senses expand. Something was different in those sea-blue depths. They say the eyes are the mirror to the soul, but his seemed more like a mask. Her body jerked when the black of his pupils bled into the white until his sockets completely blacked out, then shifted back to their normal sea-blue color. Curiosity led her. One foot slid between his as she moved even closer until their bodies brushed. For some odd reason, she wasn’t afraid. “What are you?”

His fingers slid over her hips and pulled her flush against his own body. The music thumped in his ears blocking out everything else but her. In sync they found each other and moved together. Seduction by an angel felt perfect and right. His hand slid around the nape of her neck. Her hair was damp underneath with sweet sweat. She smelled delicious. One of her legs slid in between his as she tried to get closer. The hand he placed on her hip slid around to the exposed skin of her lower back. His fingers rubbed against the soft butter of her skin. Her hands slid up the back of his thighs, over his ass, and up his back to cup his shoulders. Her breasts pressed into his chest. Her nipples strained against her blouse. He closed his eyes on a tortuous groan.

The music slowed into a sultry, Latin rhythm. A soprano voice filled the club with a song about desire and the deep love shared between two souls. With their bodies harmonized with one another, they danced. Time seemed to pause for one brief moment. Leon held her tight against his chest and leaned over to accommodate her smaller frame. His hips cradled hers. She melted into his body as he led her in seductive control. An electrical current began to spark everywhere they touched. His body became a living conduit for her energy as it thrust against his own.

Could his secrets dampen the hunger Natalie feels for her mate, or can they use that desire to build a family and forge a love so strong no man, woman, or beast can tear them apart?

Read an Excerpt:

Pale moonlight descended over Heather Ridge, adding a menacing air to its aged appearance. Her eyes slowly lifted to the second-floor windows as she thought of Michael. He dominated her every moment and had secretly become her own private obsession. She felt his eyes. She sensed his presence. Silver orbs gazed back from the dingy, dark windows. Her hand involuntarily came up to rub the base of her throat. She couldn’t look away, spellbound in the moment. Her feet refused to move. It felt like forever passed when the outline of his body finally turned away from the window.

Natalie’s nervous laugh broke the eerie silence of the twilight. The porch light turned on at that exact moment, and she jumped. Her breath caught in her lungs and she doubled over gasping for air. She chided herself for being afraid and shook her head. She was Lycan, a predator, and she belonged in the night, but the wind refused to support her confidence as it moaned through the forest.

Natalie shivered and rubbed her arms as gray fog leaked from the forest. It swirled around the corners of the house just as her feet climbed to the top of the limestone steps. She stopped only for a moment and watched with wide eyes as it creeped slowly up the steps behind her. With her back against the front door, she turned the door knob. The front door creaked as she pushed it open then slammed shut with a loud bang.
