Meet the Blackthorn Brothers—three unrepentant scoundrels infamous for being mad, bad and perilous to love.

Handsome as the devil and twice as tempting, Robin “Puck” Blackthorn lives for the pleasures of the moment. His only rule—never dally with an innocent woman. But when an encounter at a masquerade ball leaves him coveting the one woman who refuses to succumb to his charms, Puck realizes that some rules were made to be broken….

Scandalized to discover that the masked man with whom she’d shared a dance—and a forbidden embrace—is in fact the ton’s most celebrated rake, Regina Hackett vows to keep her distance. Yet when her cousin vanishes, it is to Puck that Regina must turn. And as they embark on a dangerous journey through London’s darkest alleys, Regina will discover that beneath Puck’s roguish facade lies a man who will stop at nothing to protect her—or to convince her to take a chance on an unrepentant sinner.

A hero named Puck is odd enough but when the playboy and all around society charmer finds the woman of his dreams, the façade drops and the real picture is revealed. Readers are in for a treat because Puck Blackthorn is all man, with a core of granite and iron the bad guys never saw coming.

Ms. Michaels has a winner. I was teased with getting to know Puck in the first book about the Blackthorn brothers in The Taming of the Rake but nothing could have prepared me for the adventures that awaited this happy go lucky guy.

In this installment, I found further hints of the unusual upbringing he and his brothers had. For some reason, as easily as they explained the arrangement and as accepting as they appeared, I don’t think they truly believed all they’ve been told. Certainly Puck says something to the heroine in the final chapters of the story that surprised me. I found him to be a very observant hero. He had to be if he expected to survive the hair raising adventures the heroine swept him into.

Regina is a plucky heroine who made one decision that changed not only her life but left her eyes and brain traumatized for life. She saw something that was so gross and shocking, if the distraction of her cousin disappearing hadn’t happened, I’m not sure how she would have handled the fallout. I think I would have gotten sauced trying to forget. As it is, the heroine’s one accidental interlude with Puck ended up being the best, most wonderful and exciting thing to happen even her wildest romantic fantasies couldn’t have conjured.

One of the characteristic traits the author imbued the hero with was absolutely gorgeous hair. I know it was meant to be sensual and exotic in a way. But all I could picture in my mind was either Fabio tossing his long locks or one of the hair commercials that showcase silky, flowing tresses that shimmer and sway in an alluring manner. If Puck hadn’t turned out to be as gritty and physical as he did, I don’t think I could have forgiven a man having better hair than me. As it is, the hero knew how to play his assets to advantage and it comes in rather handy, even to the point of luring the lusting Regina to do wild and wonderful things with him. I rather enjoyed those scenes because Ms. Michaels wrote them with passion, intensity and with a romantic flair that truly entertained. They were extra spicy and delicious.

The plot movement during this book is frenetic and adventurous. The consistent external conflict was gripping and suspenseful because Puck and Regina have to find her cousin before an absolutely horrendous and most heinous crime could be committed. The daunting task of finding all the clues and putting the criminal puzzle together in time kept me glued to the pages. Puck had some help from his rather surprising and mysterious brother, Jack. Jack’s involvement was much more pronounced in this book versus the one previous with Beau. In A Midsummer Night’s Sin, he’s everywhere. For example, it is shop viagra online very difficult to regain. viagra pharmacies Regular breathing exercise and workout can do wonders in improving sexual health. It assists in growing your relationships in a better way viagra properien by opening up with the people around you. The condition evolves around male sexual health and allows him to enjoy the bliss of his side effects from viagra bought this sexual health. I don’t mean he overshadows his brother, Puck. I’m talking about how he appears every time something momentous happens, like he has a second knowing, or he has a paranormal super ability that makes him unstoppable and effective as a spy. How did he DO that?

My favorite part is when Jack and Puck work together because only then did I get a glimpse of what Jack is capable of. Not only that, but I saw a mending of family. Through a most disgusting situation fraught with peril and death, the brothers found common ground and I recognized a light bulb moment. They both realized they truly were more than brothers in name only; they really could be a family. I was thrilled to see that but it didn’t last long because then the scene exploded into shots fired, fighting with knives and daring-do that made my heart pound. What in the world was a guy usually into frilly lace cuffs and perfectly coiffed appearance doing with such ruffians? And why would a gently bred lady be right in the middle of it?

Because the heroine has attitude and a strong sense of right and wrong and no way was she going to sit in a parlor or library and fret like a ditzy miss. No matter if Puck really wished she would. Regina, I found out, had a way with her man. I loved how she worked him over in order to get what she wanted. She was a total delight – courageous, loyal, feisty, and with a stiff inner core a corset could only envy. That’s good because what she learned about her own family had a devastating effect on her. And yet, her choices after she and Puck figured things out made me respect her character. She’d make a wonderful addition to the Blackthorn clan – she just had to survive the ramifications of what they discovered when they found her cousin. Talk about heartbreak!

The happily ever after was refreshing after all that chaos and action. Ms. Michaels wrapped up their unusual courtship with a wonderfully written and romantically engaging epilogue ending. The last paragraphs of the final chapter were poetic justice. I knew what happened but what Regina was led to believe was for the best. And I felt very proud of Puck and Jack for choosing that route. They really are wonderful guys but I hope to find out just how terrific Jack is in the last book of the trilogy. This book revealed so many hints as to the many facets of his personality that I can’t wait to read it. Especially after Puck, in his clever way, wormed out a certain piece of information out of him during one of their few one on one scenes. It guaranteed it as an auto-buy for me.

A Midsummer Night’s Sin combines adventure and romance to such perfection, it’s a must read. I adored the characters, thrilled to the action and was entertained by their most scandalous courtship. There is nothing I can think better to do than to highly recommend this story to all readers of romantic suspense, whether they enjoy historical or contemporaries. This book easily crosses fan preferences because A Midsummer Night’s Sin has it all. Pick up your own copy and be amazed, dazzled and intrigued by this well written and gripping novel.

With a few extra pounds and a geek reputation, Otis Tucker despairs of ever finding someone to share his life with. When the GLBT dating service GetaDate.com matches him with handsome hunk Garret, he thinks it’s some kind of joke. But the more he learns of Garret, the more he realizes that even gorgeous people can be taken at face value and that Mr. Perfects come in many different sizes.

Otis never thought he could catch a man by being himself but hunk Garrett proves him wrong. Otis is a computer specialist by day and a gamer geek by night. He’s trying to find love on an online dating site but Otis thinks he can only catch a man with a fake profile. When a friend eliminates Otis’ made up profile and replaces it with a real one, sexy Garrett is quick to notice. Although Garrett seems too good to be true, Otis soon realizes they just may be made for each other.

A Lie I Can Live With is the third in a series of short stories focused around an online dating site. However you don’t have to read the previous books in the series as each couple is unique to their story. One of the most commonly noted problems buy levitra click here for info with an AC system is due to its filter. It’s a worthwhile read too as cutie Garrett is nearly perfect and even more perfect for Otis. The couple is nice together with some good chemistry. The writing is clean and although the pace is a little tepid, the story moves along very nicely. There are numerous touches that make this story fun: from the video game Otis is crazy about to Garrett’s very welcoming family.

If I had to point out any problems it would be that Garrett is almost too good to be true. Since the story is told from Otis’ perspective, Garrett remains a very two-dimensional character. He seems perfect in almost every way from accepting Otis’ overweight and bearish appearance to his love of all things geeky. It would have been nice if Garrett had been more developed and came across as more realistic but I’m not sure any readers will have a problem with a geeky guy finding the love of his life with a hot, sexy guy.

A Lie I Can Live With is a cute short story that gives a nice fantasy. It’s a little light on actual depth but is an enjoyable read anyway.

INTERVIEW: L.A. WITT

Long and Short Reviews welcomes L.A. Witt, whose latest book Where There’s Smoke was released on February 21 from Loose Id, LLC. Lori has worked in the porn business as well as erotica/erotic romance business. She was a film editor in the porn business and, of course, she’s an erotic romance author. She is in a unique position to explain the differences, and I asked her to do so.

“Honestly, they couldn’t be more different. Porn is strictly mechanical. Even in the videos I worked on, which featured people who were couples in real life, it felt fake. It was a performance, done for the cameras and the director, not the partner(s). In an erotic romance, the characters aren’t just going through the motions and fucking for the benefit of the reader. They should be connecting,” she said. “Erotica falls somewhere in between the two, though I would generally put it closer to erotic romance than pornography, mostly because I like any erotica I read or write to have at least some emotional involvement. Not love or romance per se, just some sort of emotional investment for the character, even if it’s simply an exploration of something new, crossing a previously uncrossed line, etc. I want the character to come away with something. Porn doesn’t need – and I’ve rarely seen it have – that kind of investment.”

Lori doesn’t believe in writer’s block. She admits that things happen to make it difficult to write, such as depression, fatigue, or distraction. She’s always taken “writer’s block” to be its own ailment.

“Everything else if fine, you just…can’t write. And I don’t buy that,” she told me. “Especially since a lot of writers seem to ‘get’ writer’s block, and then sit back like they just have to wait for it to pass before they can write again. When I find myself unable to write, there’s always a reason for it, and 99% of the time, it boils down to one of two things: something’s wrong with the book, or I’m burned out. Usually it’s a problem with the book. If I absolutely cannot get a word on the page, or it’s nothing but excruciating word dentistry, then I’ll put it aside and work on another project for a little while. Most of the time, the words will flow, which tells me there’s a problem with the first project. If I can’t get anything written on the second project, then it’s burnout. I’m getting to the point now I can recognize the signs before I actually hit that burnout, but sometimes I stupidly push through and exhaust myself. Seems to be about every 6 months or every half a million words or so. When I do hit that point, I make myself take some time off. Usually two weeks. By the end of that time, I’m absolutely climbing the walls, itching to start writing again.”
Lori has recently moved back to the States from Okinawa. She lived with her folks for a couple of months before she moved to their home in Nebraska, but she’s very excited to be in a larger place now. Why?

“I finally have a writing space! I had one in Okinawa, which was basically one half of a room that was part storage, part office. Then I lived with my folks for two months before moving here, so I set up shop on their dining room table for a while. But now that we have a larger place in Nebraska, I have…an office!! And a proper desk. And all the books that were in storage for the last three years. I so love my office. I have an L-shaped glass desk, which rocks because it doesn’t have anything—drawers, legs, etc—in the middle for me to clip my kneecap on. Plus it’s the perfect size for my laptop, some need-to-be-within-reach books, my spiral notebook, and my cat. I have a lovely view of a squirrel-inhabited tree in the backyard, plus some farms on the other side of the highway. There’s a whiteboard above my desk where I make notes about deadlines, upcoming events, etc. Off to my right is a poster of 30 Seconds to Mars, because they’re the awesomest band ever (yes, I’m 31, and I have a rock band poster on my wall. Don’t judge me.). Let’s see, on my desk…my iPhone, Kindle, drink, bunch of pens, a mug with the cover of A Chip In His Shoulder on it, usual office stuff. I also tend to take off my wedding ring when I type because it gets annoying sometimes, and when I do, I keep it in a little abalone shell that I picked up while snorkeling off Okinawa. Did I mention I love my writing space? Because I so do.”

Book titles, for Lori, tend to happen on their own. She’s had help in the past, like brainstorming with friends, and sometimes will still do that, but usually the title will just sort of happen.

“It bugs me to no end to write something without a title, so I typically have one by the time I start the story, though it occasionally changes,” she told me. “The Distance Between Us, Reconstructing Meredith, Trust Me, A.J.’s Angel, and The Next Move all started out with different titles. Others, like A Chip In His Shoulder, Damaged Goods, and most especially Static, had titles that were pretty much set in stone and a part of the story’s ‘personality’ from the start.”

The hardest part of writing for her? The sex scenes. Not because she’s squicked out or anything (“Hardly!” she retorted), but they just seem to take three or four times as long to get on paper as any other scene.

I asked her what her work schedule was like when she’s writing.

“I usually screw off on the internet in the morning, but start writing no later than noon. Then I’m at my desk (or writing by hand on the couch, in a restaurant, at a park, at the library, etc) until dinner time. Take a break for dinner and cartoons with the hubby, then back to work until midnight or I reach my daily quota (5,000 words). Sometimes I’ll keep going beyond my quota, occasionally even hitting 10K or more, but I usually stop around midnight. Then go to bed, try to sleep, wake up, and do it again. I do this 5-6 days a week.”

Her most interesting writing quirk is that she is not a linear writer. Instead, she writes out of sequence, usually switching between five or six of them at a time. Her current WIP has twenty-three chapters, and Lori has already started twenty-two of them. Only eight chapters are finished (and those aren’t the first eight!) She even writes paragraphs in fragments.

“It’s kind of bizarre, but it works,” she said.

She’s written around forty books. Her favorite is Static, followed by Reconstructing Meredith which she wrote under her hetero pseudonym Lauren Gallagher.

“They were both very emotionally taxing to write, which made them more rewarding in the end,” she explained. “Plus they delved deeper than some of my other books into some issues that are near and dear to my heart.”

Touched by the gesture when it’s obvious she can barely afford to survive, her warm smile and lush body churn up powerful feelings that leave Clay wanting more from her than pie.

Melody is running from her past and the small, country town of Garnet is the perfect hiding place. With an ex-husband after her and scars from her abusive marriage etched deep, the last thing she expects is to fall for a man who makes a living with his fists, but she can’t resist Clay or the tender connection they share.

Finding love in the most unlikely of places, the passion is undeniable, but Clay and Melody know their haunted pasts and unpredictable futures leave the odds stacked against them.

Sometimes all it takes is a piece of pumpkin pie to change your life.

Melody Dylan feels broken. After escaping a life of spousal abuse, trouble now follows in her wake as she settles in to the small town of Garnet, Ohio. She’s had to stay on the run from an ex-husband who is obsessed with possessing her. She never thought she would find another man appealing again, but one look at the big and gruff Clay has her feeling things she’s never felt before. It’s getting harder to resist the attraction she feels but when the past once again rears its ugly head, taking a chance with Clay may no longer be an option.

Clay ‘Powerhouse’ Powers lives and breathes MMA fighting. He believes it to be an art and has trained relentlessly to hone his skills to become a professional cage fighter. When she and Clay get together, Melody doesn’t allow her lack of experience keep her from exploring her own sexual desires without fear or force.

There were a few times when the dialogue seemed to lag or feel a little awkward. Specifically, when Melody reveals her abusive past so early in their developing relationship, it just didn’t seem to fit her reserved “I’m on the run from my ex” character. Clay and Melody share a good connection, so maybe she simply felt more comfortable with him then I perceived. Either way it wasn’t a deal breaker for this terrific book. I had to know how they would overcome the major obstacle headed their way.

There is much more to explore with the characters of this charming town and I am excited to see that it will continue. Ms. Moon’s sweet and spicy contemporary is absolutely worth the read and will make a wonderful addition to any erotic romance reader’s collection.

Chase found the muse for his songs in Raylan. Each time they touch, kiss, make love, music fills his soul. But working odd gigs to make ends meet while Raylan photographs rock and roll royalty isn’t beneficial to Chase’s creativity. Can he convince Raylan they’re better off together than apart?

Christmas: a time for love and togetherness. That is what Chase wants with Raylan, but what he has is back to back gigs playing with the band, fending off advances from bandmate Dave, and lonely nights. Now, it’s Christmas Eve, Raylan is back in town, and Chase can’t wait to see him. Raylan makes plans to meet Chase for a drink before they head home, but they have things they need to discuss. Megan Slayer takes us back to Ohio, and to the trials and tribulations of early days and long distance relationships. I love her small town stories, and this is a wonderful visit to Kenton, Ohio for the holidays. The characters, even the secondary ones, and strong and many faceted, with emotions that run high and all over the spectrum.

Chase is the gorgeous musician, writing songs that show the world his softer side. He has a big dose of insecurity in him, and watching him on this roller coaster ride was really fantastic. He is loyal and honest, and still getting used to being in this relationship. I like Chase, with his highs and lows, and his fears all out there in the open for all to see.

Raylan is the more serious of the couple, but still has his own share of insecurity. All he knows for sure is that he wants to be with Chase and no one else.I liked that he was ready to stand up to the ghosts, and people, from his past to defend what he feels for Chase, and I loved his strength and desire for the man he loves.

Chase and Raylan are great together, but they are also major ‘drama queens’ where their emotions are involved. This is the story of a new relationship, and the pitfalls that can come between two people in love if they aren’t careful. I really enjoyed the little things these two did for each other, and there is one big surprise Raylan has for Chase that I don’t want to reveal here. But it is the high point of the story, that one perfect moment when you just know these two have something real and beautiful between them.

I recommend this to those who love happy ever after, but one warning: tissues and ice in equal measures are needed for this one.

After Mother Nature forces them off the road and into a deserted cabin, Christmas turns out to be nothing either of them expects.

Christmas…that most wonderful time of year! Usually. But for M. J. Rich, it’s going to be a tough holiday. Between battling her feelings for her soon-to-be ex-boyfriend and the fury of Mother Nature, she has more than enough on her plate. So, when a mysterious stranger, Brady Cameron, offers to rescue her from the confines of the Philadelphia airport, an entirely new path opens before her. But will she be able to see the truth through all the snow?

M. J. Rich is an aspiring news reporter with a big heart and a wonderful personality. J. sees the possibilities in being single again and plans to use them to the best of her ability. She’s determined to push past the heartache, focus on her career, and move forward. It really lifted my spirits to see that, although she’d been involved with a real loser of a boyfriend, that she didn’t blame herself any more than would be natural at first. When Captain Greg Marsh comes to quarter at her estate, he’s an unwelcome symbol of the war right in her kitchen. There is a lot going on in this snazzy little book. I nabbed Landed by a Flyboy because I have a love of pilots and an interest in all things from the WWII era. May Williams manages to combine the uncertainty of the times with some interesting characters in this short story.

As I said, this is a very short read. If you’re looking for lots of description, then this book might not be for you. Yes, I got an idea of where the book took place, but I didn’t really feel like I was there.

The scene where he worked on the car was my favorite because it was sexy in a “being taken care of” sort of way. I sighed happily after reading that scene.

As much as I loved Greg, I had some issues with Bertie. She’s in a strange situation. Granted, her brother is missing. Granted, she’s carrying a huge load. Still, I wasn’t sure why she was so angry at Greg from the very beginning. Greg comes across as a perfectly decent guy, but if there was more explanation as to why she keeps a cool distance I might have been able to identify with her more.

Still there were moments of sweetness and heat that I’m glad were there. I got to see the blossoming feelings between Greg and Bertie and it was fun.

If you want to take a sentimental journey through wartime 1940’s, then this is the book for you.

Jake Falconer, a hard-boiled detective in Echo City, is struggling with his love of booze, a square ex (and a cop, no less) he can’t get over, and a murdered partner. In sashays Sloane, an homme fatal whose twin brother has gone missing. The search leads them to a sex club used for blackmailing the city’s most powerful, and soon Jake finds himself hip deep in sex and danger—it’s a good thing he’s no stranger to slogging through either.

Fans of classic Film Noir and hard hitting private detectives of old will get a kick out this little treat, The Little Death.

Many years ago, my great-aunt gave me an old dime store novel by Mickey Spillane who created an indelible character well loved by mystery readers, Mike Hammer. That character was very distrustful of people no matter the profession. Everyone was suspect and the flavor was always smoky, dark and gritty as the character walked within the dark gray areas of society. Ms. Speed has provided her own version of that misanthropic P.I. in the form of Jake Falconer. If the author has set out to capture the flavor of a man disenchanted with life but who keeps on going just to tweak the noses of ‘authority’, then she’s succeeded.

Jake is a hard man. He drinks like a sotted fish, makes no apologies for his appearance or attitude and is his own worst enemy. It was hard to be sympathetic towards him because he’s so ornery but by the same token it’s why I liked him. He’s a smart-mouthed tough-guy who hides any softer feelings with acerbic wit and insults and yet, he’s fair and has a code of honor and ethics all his own. And, he’s in love. But he won’t ever say the words. There was just something about his character that I enjoyed that I can’t quite put my finger on. Maybe it was because he wasn’t all pretty and perfect and vanilla. He has vices, he has a dubious sexual code, meaning, if there’s an itch, it’s meant to be scratched, and he is a bit slovenly. He’s certainly not my ideal candidate for a white-knight-on-a-horse hero but he is a hero nonetheless; it’s just that his armor is a bit tarnished, dented and well worn.

The plot is basic – who is trying to kill who and why? It’s a mystery with lots of action, mostly poor Jake getting the business end of a fist or two, or three. The secondary characters flit in and out of chapters providing motivation, red herrings and conflict. The romance angle is more romantic elements than outright romance. It has helped saved countless relationships by allowing tadalafil 20mg couples have longer sex, better orgasms and revitalizing their sex life. Chocolate: Chocolate is considered generic levitra as the king of Tongkat Ali Dr. It leads to Addiction Kamagra does not have any addictive properties. generic cheap viagra Kyle is the man who actually holds Jake’s heart but for some reason he keeps the hunky cop at a distance. That adds another level to the hero’s character – emotionally tortured individual who doesn’t think he’s good enough to be loved. Based on what I read, he certainly doesn’t make it easy but I think loving Jake would be worth it, if you had a thick skin. And, I do have hope for him because when he kisses Kyle, the words he uses told me what I needed to hear.

The novella is written in first person point of view and the dialogue is as hard-hitting as one would expect from a man who does what he does for a profession. Jake and Kyle do physically connect but Jake just fills a reader in — the scenes are behind closed doors. He’s private that way. His delivery reminded me of the old Dragnet T.V. series, “Just the facts, Ma’am”.

This tale is fast moving and the author has some descriptive passages that read like poetry. Not flowery mind you, more like testosterone laden and filled with action words. It fits the main protagonist and gives a reader insight into his world. There is even some self-depreciating humor that was delivered in such a dry manner, it cracked me up. Jake is cool.

The Little Death is full of swagger, action and attitude. It’s populated with people who live on the dark side and the only person able to make them toe the line of justice is someone who can smack them back with that bit of darkness roiling inside himself. Jake has a love interest but until he loves himself I fear poor Kyle is in for a rough time of it. I’m hoping for Jake’s redemption, or at least a solid try at A.A. but the best I can hope for is for Jake to stumble into another mystery. Why? So I can get another chance to see where Ms. Speed is going to take his romance with Kyle and what can of worms Jake is going to open next because something tells me that’s one jackpot he’s more than likely to win.

Jake Carson has idealistic ideas about traveling west from his home in Boston and taking on the role as a cattle rancher. He succeeds in acquiring what he sets out to do, but feels bitterness toward three of the men he’s hired to help on the cattle drive. They shoot his two friends, rustle his cattle and then shoot him. Jake is left to die along the hot dusty trail. When Jake survives, with the help of the Ute Indians, his only thought is revenge. What will happen when he faces the three in a shootout on the dusty street of Salt Lake City? Will this satisfy the revenge eating him up inside?

Jake Carson’s dream of becoming a cattle rancher has just become a reality when two of his men are shot and he is left for dead. His cattle are rustled, and now, by golly, he’s bent on revenge. Jake’s story of survival, revenge, and finding love makes a satisfying, quick read, and the story moves along at a lively pace.

Jake and Yani, a Ute Indian maiden, are complex and well-developed characters. Yani wants to please her family, but that would mean giving up Jake. Jake knows that Yani isn’t free to choose him, so he keeps his distance. Yet they have a hard time keeping apart.

The setting, 1850’s Utah Territory, is vividly drawn out and sufficiently exotic that it held my interest throughout. Even though I’ve never been to Utah, Ms. Suzanne’s writing helped me to clearly picture the vast expanses. Yani’s dilemma, whether or not to submit to the traditional marriage arranged by her tribe, or to give in to her feelings for Jake, is one many readers, whatever their ethnicity, can relate to. Premature Ejaculation lead some men to depression brand cialis 20mg in addition to any fundamental medical difficulties. I’m far from an expert on the history of the Old West, but the scenario depicted in this novel feels gritty and real.

It was obvious from the beginning that Easterner Jake is naive. He never considers that the cattle rustlers have already shot two of his men and would have no problem with shooting him as well. It seemed a little convient that when his life is on the line the Utes take him and nurse him back to health when they seem to barely know him. Still, this was a minor question in my mind and didn’t really hinder my enjoyment of this lively tale.

The author did an excellent job of building up Jake’s motivation and determination for revenge. I had no doubt that he would be ready, willing and able to shoot the three bad guys if and when he ever caught up to them. Apart from the revenge factor, I pulled for Jake and Yani to have a happy ever after.

I couldn’t help but want more. This story felt like a novel compressed into the space of a short story. The tale begins with a bit of an info-dump, three pages of straight back story, before we get into the guts of the tale, where Jake is driving his cattle to Salt Lake City to sell. However, Mary Suzanne knows how to tell a story. Once past the initial three pages, I couldn’t put it down so I encourage other readers to push on through.

The end felt real and satisfying, and I thought about Jake and Yani long after I finished reading. If you’re looking for a quickie to pass the time, this story won’t disappoint.

Derek has come to Twin Pines because the great distance means his family isn’t around to get nosy about his dates, which allows him to stay firmly in the closet. Playing football is just a bonus. And then he meets the almost impossibly handsome quarterback, Brandon Sanders, a man worth coming out for.

Brandon’s refined looks hide a dark and compelling desire that is conflicted by his father’s demands for perfection. To placate his controlling father, Brandon has always lived a closeted and unfulfilling existence.

Determined to have Brandon by any means necessary, Derek engages him in a contest wherein the victor will have total control over the loser. The erotic struggle ends with Derek triumphant and ready to have Brandon’s willing submission to his lusts. But when he finds out Brandon has never gone all the way, Derek has to decide if he’ll claim his prize or not.

Heart pounding and extremely arousing… and that is in just the first few pages. This is a story of two young men from totally different backgrounds who are destined for the same future, a future together.

Brandon is the quarterback of the football team and by all rights living the perfect life. He comes from a wealthy family and has his head on straight where school is concerned. Brandon hides who he is in fear of upsetting his family. Being gay isn’t something his abusive father will accept. So when a game of gay chicken gets down and dirty, Brandon realizes he is sick of not being who he is and decides to take things further with a sexy Derek.

Derek is the fun loving easy going kind of friend everyone should have. He came to college because he had no idea what he wanted to do with his life and has been living it up since. He, like Brandon, has had to hide his sexuality from his family but unlike Brandon it doesn’t consume Derek. His laid back acceptance of life helps Brandon realizes he can have what he wants, he just has to let go and grab it. sildenafil generic from canada Silagra is also not to be taken with food or without food. But in every good love story conflict upsets the balance. Same is true in Quarterback. When Brandon’s homophobic father comes to take him back home to Boston it’s Brandon’s choice to tuck tail and go home or fight for what he wants.

This is the second in the Gridiron God’s series and the first I’ve read. I felt a little lost in this story. There were a few things that weren’t explained and I was left wondering what they meant. This is a shifter story, bears to be exact, but it wasn’t talked about much. This was more of a love story between Brandon and Derek and how they overcome their struggles. The paranormal aspects were just a small part of this book.

Overall, I really enjoyed the story. It has strong male characters, both struggling for what they want, plus the extremely graphic love scenes had me glued to the very end. In the first few pages the author whets the reader’s appetite with an erotic little game of gay chicken and from there keeps the heat turned up on every encounter between Brandon and Derek. Dirty talk, toys, and wildly unadulterated sex between two consenting adults was highly entertaining. I would recommend reading the first in the series so you have that extra bit of background story. This was an enjoyable read and I look forward to more from the Gridiron Gods.
