What do a three-hundred-year-old vampire and a midlevel necromancer have in common? Money. Jeliyah needs it to pay off the people who trained her and Teaghan enjoys killing to get it. Together they hunt rogue vampires—assuming Teaghan can focus on something other than getting her into bed and Jeliyah doesn’t put a bullet in him first.
The uneasy partnership promises to be lucrative until the pair gets on the wrong side of a feud. Forced to use forbidden magic, Jeliyah finds herself bound to a man she should hate—but whom she can’t stop fantasizing about.
Every second they stay alive fuels a growing desire Jeliyah is unwilling to deny. Is it the magic? The danger? The only way to get answers is to outrun the enemy, or kill them. She knows Teaghan’s preference, but it’s Jeliyah who must put their mind-blowing sex aside and make the choice that will decide both their fates.

First I must say that I have read quite a few of Zenobia Renquist’s books which were all enjoyable, however, this one is by far my favorite. The story grabs your attention from the very first paragraph and holds on to you until you have read the very last line, and you still want more. The characters played well off one another, and you knew they would become attracted to each other but first Jeliyah had to get over her dislike of Teaghan.

Teaghan is a three hundred year old vampire enforcer who is considered the best in his field; he is however in need of a necromancer partner since he has retired seven partners in three years. What can he say; he enjoys what he does which is killing rogue vampires, or maybe just killing. He is intrigued when his new partner is introduced to him because he never suspected that it would be a woman, and a gorgeous one at that.

Jeliyah Parsons had been waiting to be assigned a field position but knew her boss Hirsch didn’t like her, so she was surprised when he told her she would be partnering with someone. When she was introduced to her partner she was less than impressed, as a matter of fact, she took an immediate dislike to him. Not only did he dress like a ‘wanna be gansta’ he also spoke like one. He had his flaming red hair in corn rows, wore baggy pants, boots with the laces untied, and he had one of his fangs tipped in gold. This was not what she was expecting, someone had to be playing with her.

Jeliyah’s first reaction to Teaghan had this reader laughing especially after she described what he was wearing. When he turned to his messenger Fredrick and bumped fists while smiling and saying ‘good looking out’ I could just see Jeliyah’s narrowing her eyes at him. The interaction between the two characters was priceless as well as the interaction with the supporting characters. Cream wasn’t one of those stories that had the main characters hitting the sheets within minutes of meeting one another. Even though Jeliyah and Teaghan were attracted to each other after her first initial dislike of him, Jeliyah knew that there were consequences if she slept with Teagan.

This reader loved that there were issues surrounding the two characters getting together which made it more intense when they finally did. They were both strong, capable and extremely hot together which is always a plus. The author Zenobia Renquist made sure that the reader was invested in these two characters and that the reader would want more. Cream is definitely a book that this reader would recommend. Hopefully, you will pick up a copy and find the same enjoyment that this reader did.
