Is it any wonder she begins to doubt whether she is enough for all her husbands? Can the men convince Mikayla she is all they want and need? Can they find a way to stop Peter’s ex once and for all? Can Mikayla get her fighting spirit back in time stop things from going wrong?

Mikayla has been through a lot in a short while, and it is finally getting to her. Although she loves all eight of her husbands, for the first time she questions whether she made the right choice for them. Mikayla is a strong character, but she loses a bit of herself and her confidence with the health problems she has. She becomes overwhelmed, and begins to doubt her own choices. I sympathized with her, and was delighted to see her turn it around toward the end of this story, and begin to show that spark she had in the beginning.

Mikayla’s husbands are all still totally devoted to her happiness, but, like typical men, they don’t get how losing the baby affected her so deeply. I liked that they were willing to give her the space and time she needed to come to terms with things and open up in her own time. Each man brings something different to the relationship, but their love is what will finally get Mikayla through it all.

There are some hilarious scenes here, especially when the raiders are exposed to the ‘mouse tears’. Some of the secondary characters are interesting, and I hope to see more of Tracey and her husbands in the rest of this series. Does Mikayla reveal her doubts and fears to the men she loves? You’ll have to read Keen Inclination to get the answer. But, as always, this series must be read in order, as these are not stand-alone books.

The story starts with a nice dose of backstory and set up for the plot. There is actually no sex or sexual play until page 33! This isn’t a detraction, however. I was most impressed with the plot of the book. There was actual intrigue and deception and scheming and plotting.

Our heroine, Sarah, is out to capture the bad guys. Her friend, Carol, is out to capture the bad guys, but ends up leaving with the person Sarah is after. The Gideon brothers (and cousin Chris) are trying to make the most of their business but are at risk of letting the “bad guy” scam all of their money. The relationship development was consistent throughout this story, but in the beginning, I didn’t feel the passion from the characters the way I would have liked to. While most of the story is based in the modern world, there is some parallel traveling involved that adds a certain element to the story. Moreover, the paranormal element is explosive! You have dragons, vampires, werewolves, mythical creatures, snake shifters … the list just keeps going. These unique characters and relationships between them really made this story a standout.

Despite this book being part of a series, I felt right at home even though I have not read the previous stories. After meeting the characters, I would love to go back and read the previous stories, but it was not necessary in order to enjoy this story.

Because of the great characters, exciting plot and the fact that it can be read alone I recommend Dragon’s Bloodmoon and will continue to follow the Deadly Mates series.

I must say Heaven’s Hell was straight out of left field and took me by complete surprise. Ms. Hagen adds that special shock factor to all her stories and this one is no different. I applaud this author’s creative storytelling that feeds the imaginations of her readers and keeps them on the edge of their seats.

Heaven and Murdock’s relationship starts out rocky from the get go. As the reader you can’t blame Heaven’s reactions to finding his mate in the arms of another. Ms. Hagen has out done herself with Heaven’s Hell and it’s a must read for all Brac Pack fans.

I especially appreciated how this is woven throughout the story and evolves seamlessly, along with the natural way the characters’ personalities are cleverly and gradually fully revealed. All is not what it first seems.

The eloquent and sensitively done expressions of James’ love for Rainne were also a big plus for me in this book. Rarely is this done so beautifully. I started the story with chuckles, and ended this very vivid and realistic story with teary feelings and compassion for the two lovers. I found it easy to care about them and enjoyed the intense, passionate love scenes between them as well. The heat between Rainne and James is scorching! I recommend this book to everyone, and eagerly look forward to more of Rachel Cron’s work.

Edwina has to be the mouthiest heroine I’ve ever been introduced to. Ms. Clark certainly has presented readers with a challenging and acerbic character. She confounds, exasperates and intrigues the heroes. That means she’s perfect for the role as their love interest. Certainly a bland, insipid and weak female would not have worked but the author outdid herself with the creation of Edwina Callahan. The courtship of the heroine is like watching a porcupine mating – careful and potentially dangerous. And yes feelings get hurt. But half the fun is watching them get soothed, stroked and explored.

The seven scientists are more than what they seem. There’s a really good reason why they are so effective at their chosen profession and the author explored that just enough for the plot to work. A reader will meet Jake and Kieran first and they play a huge role in some of the heroine’s initial internal angst. As for the conflict, it ends up being nefarious and quite a nice touch. I liked how it was presented step by step as the brothers slowly put the pieces together. Even though I figured out how and the why before it was actually revealed, the dramatic confrontation was pure entertainment. I just sat back and enjoyed it.

It’s entertaining, fun, certainly inventive and at times very cute. I liked how Ms. Clark wrapped up the happily ever after because it left me with a warm glow.
