All of these characters, along with the plot, come together to form a fascinating story. As for that plot, it centers mostly on a murder trial full of twists and turns that I never saw coming. I was especially surprised by the ending and I applaud the author for the choices she made with this revelation.

However, despite my enjoyment of the overall story there were a few things I felt were a bit weak and that left me with some questions. There are some story threads or twists that seemed a bit unfinished, as if something were missing as we moved forward in the story.

But despite this, I would say Twice the Pleasure is a great read that I enjoyed reading.

She has an immediate, visceral style that works well with her heroes, and with the tone of the Spaceport series in general. She even goes so far as to juxtapose a sex scene with an incredibly tense “hunting” scene, and it is masterfully done. My only complaint would be Forty-Two’s subplot, but you can judge for yourself whether or not that was called for. Hidden Phase is dark, sexy, unnerving, and even disturbing, but love triumphs and your reward for seeing things through is one of the most darkly triumphant endings I’ve ever read. This story is pretty much the definition of modern space opera, and Couper is a credit to that genre.

Her need to know his love was true was another relatable theme. He managed to make many women swoon, but she held the sole key to his heart. Very well written.

I liked their connection and the fact that they nearly combusted when they were in the same space. At the same time, I liked the absolute evil of Erzsebet, the woman in competition for Hunter’s affections. You wanted to hate her, but you respected how she exploited her only means to obtain her desires.

If you’re in the mood for a compelling novel with sinfully sexy characters and few you might know by heart, then A Terrible Tryst of Fate is the book for you. I give this novel 4 cherries.
