A cache of diamonds is stolen in Phoenix. The prime suspect is former Maricopa County Sheriff Mike Peralta, now a private investigator. Disappearing into Arizona’s mountainous High Country, Peralta leaves his business partner and longtime friend David Mapstone with a stark choice. He can cooperate with the FBI, or strike out on his own to find Peralta and what really happened. Mapstone knows he can count on his wife Lindsey, one of the top “good hackers” in law enforcement. But what if they’ve both been betrayed? Mapstone is tested further when the new sheriff wants him back as a deputy, putting to use his historian’s expertise to solve a very special cold case. The stakes turn deadly when David and Lindsey are stalked by a trained killer whose specialty is “suiciding” her targets. In depressed, post-recession Phoenix, every certainty has become scrambled, from the short hustle of the powerful real-estate industry to the loyalties Mapstone once took for granted. Could Peralta really be a jewel thief or worse? The deeper Mapstone digs into the world of sun-baked hustlers, corrupt cops, moneyed retirees, and mobsters, the more things are not what they seem. Ultimately, Mapstone must risk everything to find the truth. High Country Nocturne is an ambitious, searing, and gritty novel, with a fast-paced story as hard-edged as the stolen diamonds themselves.

He’s a private eye with a partner. He’s an ex-cop and his partner is an ex-sheriff. They know their stuff. They’re doing pretty good at the new business.  So why would his partner steal diamonds?

This author is very good at creating suspense and confusion in his story. Everyone seems to be lying. Many are playing both sides. The new sheriff is manipulating him and he doesn’t even like him. The picture Mr. Talton paints is bleak, nasty, and evil. You have the Russian mafia, crooked politicians, bad FBI agents and more. The only one who is what he claims to be is David Mapstone, the main character.

They have video of Peralta shooting the other guard and racing away with the diamonds. David still doesn’t think Mike was stealing them for himself; he thinks its undercover assignment.  Nobody is being totally honest. A dead body from long ago is brought to David’s attention now. He was the one who found it as a rookie cop. Why it’s being brought up now is odd. As if he wasn’t busy enough trying to find his partner and get the truth from him, his wife gets in trouble. There’s enough stress in this story I’m surprised the characters lived through it.

This is a story with a lot of conflicts, a lot of side stories, a complicated plot and diamonds that were stolen from the FBI evidence room. You know not everyone will get out alive. The ending surprised me and I’m not entirely certain that it seemed like justice wasn’t served.  But all-in-all, the story was very good and ended as happily as could be expected.

A Montana Wolves crossover romance…

Book One:
When Willa Stone is cast aside by the alpha-wolf she’s been promised to since birth, she’s humiliated and angry, but also secretly relieved. Now, maybe she’ll have the chance to mate for love. If her power-crazed parents will just give her a little time, she’s sure to find the man of her dreams…

Dragon-shifter, Drake Blackbourne, has an itch to scratch and precious few options for an outlet. When the Stone family offers up their daughter’s hand in exchange for protection and political favors, he agrees to wed her, sight unseen. Drastic times call for drastic measures and, so long as she does her part and keeps out of his way the rest of the time, surely he can manage to bed her, no matter how plain she might be.

What he doesn’t expect is that captivating, defiant Willa will ignite a fire in him that will burn everything in its path, and turn both of their worlds upside down…

Book Two:
Willa Stone is stuck on a mountain with the dragon-shifter she was forced to wed, and she can’t wait to escape. At least, that’s how things start out, but day by day, Drake Blackbourne is breaking down her defenses. If she stays, she risks losing herself to him forever, but if she goes, will she be able to reconnect to the wolf-pack who betrayed her?

Book Three:
Willa Stone has been fighting for freedom her whole life. Freedom from her parents. Freedom from the tyranny of a cruel, power hungry alpha. And now, the freedom to select a mate of her own choosing.

When she’s sold into an arranged marriage with dragon-shifter Drake Blackbourne to gain political favor for her family, every part of her rails against the injustice of it all…until now. She’s fallen in love with her captor. But when a cruel twist of fate tears them apart, it will take everything she has to regain his trust and recapture the happiness she found in his arms.

I’m glad I waited until the box set of Coercion came out because I would have been chomping at the bit from those two cliffhangers. This book contains all three novelettes so I could read to my heart’s content until the conclusion of the happy ever after and I’m very pleased.

Because they are all together, I’m not going to break them down by book. The overall story is about a woman whose parents use her as a pawn. They practically force her to marry a man unseen, and said woman, Willa, is frustrated, beyond belief. I’d be too. No one listens to her or takes her seriously and I could understand why she tried at every opportunity to get away. It makes perfect sense.

Drake is a hard character to understand, mostly because the author wanted it that way. Doing so made me feel more strongly towards Willa’s predicament. Even being in Drake’s head, from his POV, I still found that he kept secrets from both the reader and Willa. It kept me guessing which means it kept me reading.

It was easy to follow Willa’s path as she fell in love with her captor husband. A reader sees her thought process much more clearly and her insight is crucial to believing the relationship had a chance at success. She might have been a pawn, but she’s no pushover. She has a brain and is not afraid to use it. Unfortunately, Drakes brain is a bit distracted, so he doesn’t make the best decisions, which contributes to the conflict. This is definitely a character driven romance story.

The one thing that works well between them is their physical attraction and chemistry. A reader is left in no doubt that they are highly compatible in bed. Drake’s a bit rough, but he is a dragon after all.

I think the only drawback to the whole story was Drake’s stubbornness. It was a bit overwhelming at times to the point where Willa wasn’t the only one frustrated. I wanted to knock some sense into the blockhead.

There are only two other secondary characters that are worth mentioning, Greyson, and Etienne. Of the two, Etienne is the more interesting because he’s a frenemy. His character is the perfect foil for Drake because he allows me to see a different side to Drake’s personality. I wouldn’t mind finding out more about the other dragon.

Coercion as a whole is the way to go. It kept me entertained and fascinated. I liked Willa and felt she was the more well-rounded character of the two, enough that I was cheering for her throughout the entire story. The personality conflicts between Drake and the heroine were intriguing and part of its charm. I liked the dialogue and the lair descriptions, especially the chair. That produced a giggle or two.

Coercion is worth recommending to fans of dragon paranormals and readers who enjoy stories whose only focus is on the relationship dynamics between a hero and heroine; on how they overcome their personality differences to discover their happy ever after. It’s a fun read.

An unregistered, human con wizard and a duty-bound, straightlaced elf cop. As New York explodes with dangerous creatures, their passion goes nuclear.

After a terrible magical accident at Berkeley created unpredictable holes between realities—all manner of non-human creatures started popping into our world. These displacements, called RARE—Random Anomalous Reality Events—have taken magic out of fiction and relocated it firmly in reality, resulting in a great deal of chaos and confusion. Displaced elf Valerian works with AURA—the Agency of Unnatural Resettlement and Assimilation—to intercept these beings as they appear in the human world, helping the peaceful ones and subduing the violent, malevolent ones. It’s good, satisfying work, and Val would be happy if he wasn’t so lonely.

It is also bad for people who rely on it icks.org generico viagra on line . Look for a male hormone replacement viagra sale without prescription therapy program that is tailored to your specific and individualized needs. 2. Thus buy viagra mastercard to treat this situation has become necessary for men in the bedroom. What Causes Gout? The more important question is: What can one do about it? Is there really any solution available to these problems? Where one should go and whom one should meet? order viagra icks.org These are just some of the questions which will come to feel as they have a draft. Quinten is a young mage just trying to get by, but New York isn’t the easiest city to make a living. If his methods are sometimes morally dubious, his heart is still in the right place. Of course for Quinn, the right place means firmly locked away, protected at all costs. Living by his wits and sometimes magically-induced luck, he works as a ‘free-lance magic user’, or unregistered mage and small time con—according to the authorities. The last thing Quinn wants is to draw the cops’ attention, but when an Event happens right on top of him, he’s forced to turn to AURA for help. Valerian isn’t at all what he’d expected in an AURA cop, and he certainly wasn’t expecting to join forces with the sexy elf, a snarky drow and a bitter incubus when certain individuals in power try to stop the RARE by any means necessary.

Things are not all what they seem at AURA headquarters, and a greater evil lurks at the top than anyone could have imagined.

In the aftermath since the collision of magic and technology, a new breed of cop has been recruited to protect the world. A straight-laced elf named Valerian is one such officer. Resigned to the believe that he’ll spend the entirety of his life on Earth alone, a chance encounter with a rouge mage named Quinn will forever change his outlook on love, his life, and his career. They both know that they’re not good for the other, but when they’re forced to work together to prevent a catastrophe, all bets are off.

Valerian is an elf out of his element. Having been pulled out of his own world and onto Earth many years prior, he’s still out of sorts and unsure of his place in this new, strange world. Even for an elf, he’s exactly what I picture in a detective. Dedicated, serious, and a rule follower. That said, he has a passionate, loving streak that is unrivaled once you manage to uncover it.

Quinten, on the other hand, is one hundred percent untamed human mage. Living on the wrong side of the law hustling tourists, all Quinn wants is enough money to keep a roof over his head fill the belly of his friend Groof – a magical creature living in the lake. Quinn is used to being on his own and he’s a bit emotionally damaged which makes him tend towards flakiness and abrupt changes in temperament. It was annoying at first, but as we begin to understand his past and why he’s so avoidant of law enforcement, you understand better and relegate the annoyance to a personality quirk.

As much as I enjoyed watching Val and Quinn fall for each other, the character that really intrigued me was Kai Hiltas. Ever since I picked up my first Forgotten Realms novel twenty plus years ago, I’ve had a soft spot for drow who have moved past their inherent ‘evil’ side and live life in the light of day. This is Kai to a ‘t’ and I really do hope that we learn more about him – and his yeti lover, Tenzin – in the future.

Fantasy novels are a great love of mine, so when I can find one that mixes into it all the elements I love in a romance novel, I know I’m in for a treat. The one and only thing that bothered me about this book, however, was the references to humanoid creatures (humans, elves, incubi, etc.) involved in sexual relationships with non-humanoid creatures (yetis, fauns, centaurs, etc.). Although none of those relationships are described in detail, the mention of them put me off a bit. Despite that minor bit, Quinn’s Gambit is an intense story filled with twists and turns and unexpected surprises that will leave you guessing. A modern fantasy love story that held my attention and made me crave more of this world. I’m eager to dive into the sequel.

In the alien catacombs of Rainshadow, there are creatures whose compelling songs lure the unwary to their death. That’s why Rafe Coppersmith, hired to clear out the catacombs for exploration, needs a music talent. He’s knows the perfect one, but she probably doesn’t want anything do with him…

The power and dose of this viagra levitra will be different. But once on Rainshadow, Rafe and Ella will learn that surrendering to passion doesn’t come without risks—and fighting fire with fire only adds to the flame…

The dust bunny in Siren’s Call cracked me up. She dragged that wedding veil everywhere! I love their attachments to bling. Dust bunnies never cease to amaze and amuse which only enhance the stories they are found in. In this adventure, Ella and Rafe are two unlikely people who meet under the weirdest and dangerous of situations. Lorelei, the dust bunny, is a fluffy heroine from the get-go. She and her new partner, Ella, become a vital team especially once the heroine, Ella, finds herself in a pickle where only a dust bunny’s alien talents can save the day. Even big, hunky, alpha, chip-on-his-shoulder Rafe had to agree.

I always enjoy my visits to Ms. Castle’s planet Harmony because it’s always so unusual and surprising. Each book takes place where a discovery of alien influence occurs and this one is no exception. What was surprising were the dinosaurs. I actually felt bad for them once Ella figures out what is going on, and what had happened in the past. But that didn’t stop them from being significant reasons for fear, drama and action.

Another thing I enjoy about Ms. Castle’s stories is how she weaves villains in, leaving red herrings to distract a reader while drawing us closer and closer to the real plot conflict and motivation behind the criminal activity. There’s always someone who is so villainous, they’d be eligible to join the “injustice league” but Superman can’t be found here on Rainshadow. Only Rafe and his fevered dreams, which, incidentally, turn out to be sort of like a superpower. It took Ella’s faith and confidence in him to stop fighting it and embrace what he feared. Once he does, the hero works wonders. I adore the scenario of a hero or heroine being supported by the ones who love them to such a degree that they accomplish feats unimaginable to them prior. Ella does that for Rafe. I’d call that a superpower too.

Humorous dust bunny antics aside, the story does have its moments of seriousness and mystery. There’s action, suspense, and donuts. Yes, donuts are a serious business but only by reading the book will a reader understand why. You could have knocked me down with a feather.

I greatly enjoyed it when Rafe and Ella finally got together. I also found it amusing as to how hard it was for Rafe to give in to his falling in love with Ella. The more they fight it, the harder they fall and that applies to the hero. Entertaining reading, for sure.

Siren’s Call is another excellent adventure on Rainshadow Island and not to be missed by fans of the series. I think this could be read as a standalone because it does focus primarily on Ella and Rafe with only vague references of past stories of the supporting cast.

Ms. Castle has another winner on her hands with this one and I definitely recommend it. A fan’s bookshelf would not be complete without a copy of Siren’s Call added to it. I have it on mine.

The pacing was strong and steady from the first chapter to the last one. It was difficult to find a decent place to stop reading when I needed to do other things because every scene was plotted out so well. No sooner would one question be answered than another one would take its place. I simultaneously didn’t want this story to end and couldn’t wait to find out how the author was going to tie everything together!

The cast was quite large. It would have been really helpful to have a list of who all of the new people were and how they were connected to this case. The characters from the previous books in this series were easy to remember because I’ve read all of them, but I occasionally mixed up the ones who were brand new in this universe. There simply weren’t quite enough details about their lives to remember who was who in a few cases. This is my only criticism of an otherwise very well done storyline.

One of the things I enjoy the most about Mr. Grey’s books is how closely he expects his audience to pay attention to what is going on in them. None of the Dick Hardesty mysteries that I’ve read so far have been easy to figure out. The clues were there, but I definitely had to put some work into them in order to fit everything together properly. I appreciate that in this genre.

While this plot does technically work as a standalone novel, I do recommend checking out The Butcher’s Son, The Ninth Man, and The Bar Watcher first in order to get to know the recurring characters and their backstories. I would have been a little confused by the first few scenes if I wasn’t already familiar with this series.

The Hired Man kept me guessing until the end. It’s a good choice for anyone who enjoys historical mysteries as much as I do.

When a routine pickup drops her in the middle of a murder, her two worlds collide. While Florian knows how to throw a punch, deep down he’s a softie. His idea of scary? Running out of hair product. It’s time Ivy faced facts. Even with a vampire on stand-by, one gal can only kick so many asses.

Torn between these men, Ivy must tread carefully, because one wants her heart, one wants her body, and one wants her dead.

Ivy is a private investigator with unusual neighbors, but then she’s not exactly normal herself. Her mother was a leanan sidhe and her father was a satyr. Her maternal grandfather was a brather demon also known as the Guardians. At the beginning of the book Ivy knows none of this but she has had her brush with the Fae when Lathan, kindlord of the demons, kidnaps her and tries to make her his slave. Two years later she escapes from Alethia and returns to the normal (well sort of normal) world where Ivy finds she can see auras which tell her the nature of the person.

Which brings us to the strange neighbors. A family of vampires, and a pack of wolves. Lucky for her they’re friendly. Now all she has to do is fight off Lathan’s demons who are trying to drag her back to the Alethia, find her boss and his daughter, and fight off the urge to make love to every man she sees.

I enjoyed this book from the paranormal scenes to the hot sexy bits. I found this to be one of those books I couldn’t put down. It had just the right level of hotness, mixed with a little bit of mystery and a good dose of comedy. Add to this the book was well written and edited and I believe it is a winner. While vacationing, Charlotte has a chance encounter with a celebrity famous for his lead roles in romantic comedies. Unfortunately for Charlotte, lighthearted banter develops into tabloid fodder. With her career, friendships, and new found romance all impacted, Charlotte sets about dealing with the fallout of her fifteen minutes of fame.

What would you say to the celebrity you admire most?

Charlotte’s dream of meeting her Des Bannerman has finally come true. Despite some initial nerves, I must say that I think Charlotte handled herself pretty well when she finally came face to face with Des. While there certainly weren’t any romantic fireworks, Charlotte and Des have several pleasant and funny exchanges that had me smiling. When Charlotte is slapped with a restraining order, I was completely confused. I went over each encounter Charlotte had with Des, and I couldn’t figure out what went wrong. To me, it seemed that Charlotte and Des were the victim of some unusual and unfortunate circumstances that the media blew completely out of proportion. I wondered if Des was really just that mean, or if perhaps somehow Des’ girlfriend was behind the legal action. I eagerly dove into the pages searching for the answer.

The first part of the book that covers Charlotte’s adventures in France with her friends is very entertaining and fast paced. However, I must admit that I had a hard time getting in to the middle section of the story. When Charlotte goes back home to New York, she tries to resume her normal life. Unfortunately the fiasco with Des keeps coming up. On top of it all, Charlotte’s boss dumps a ton of work on her, which keeps her working practically nonstop. Despite her intense work schedule, Charlotte and her friends still manage to find time for fun. Their favorite past times seem to be shopping and drinking alcohol. In fact, that seems to be about all Charlotte does in her free time. While I have nothing against a good, strong drink, Charlotte and her friends take it to another level. My head hurt just reading about the amount of alcohol they consumed and then still had to drag themselves out of bed the next morning to go to work. The cycle of working and getting drunk was repetitive and definitely struck me as extraneous. I was left wishing that the focus would return to the problem of the restraining order.

Charlotte’s relationship with Liam is interesting and definitely the best thing about the middle part of this tale. Charlotte and Liam have a good chemistry, and I give them bonus points for making a long distance relationship work. Liam is sweet and extremely understanding about Charlotte’s situation with Des. I like the fact that he encourages her to be proactive about the situation so that she can move on with her life. While the physical part of their relationship is definitely a huge part of the story, I like that Ms. Kennedy got Charlotte and Liam out of the bedroom occasionally so they could go on some fun dates where they could really get to know each other.

Overall, I liked Charlotte’s Restrained. I found the truth behind the restraining order very surprising, and Charlotte and her friends are certainly a colorful bunch. I recommend Charlotte’s Restrained to anyone looking for a fun, contemporary romance.

Life in a small town is comfortable, but living with her loving and overprotective family means it lacks adventure. And forget romance with two interfering army brothers around. It’s time to leave the cozy nest. Her grandiose plans come to a grinding halt when she becomes innocently involved with a crime boss, then she bumps heads and lips with her uncle’s sexy but very bossy neighbor.

Special Air Services soldier Nikolai Tarei owes his neighbor a favor, but looking out for his twenty-two year old niece is stretching friendship too far. She’s a virgin and her sex appeal, sassiness and brazen disregard for safety have Nikolai scrambling to protect both her and his battered heart.

Summer is a librarian who’s a whiz at research. Now she’s ready to try out the sex toys and sexual positions she’s researched. The woman is tying Nikolai in sensual knots and driving him crazy—in and out of bed. But he’s enjoying the journey, and suddenly he’s thinking about making his Summer babysitting assignment a full time commitment—if only he can persuade her to see things his way.

It’s said that if you take the sex out of a book and you still have a good story then it’s well written. Add the sex back in and the story potentially becomes even better, depending on how those scenes are delivered. Ms. Munro presents readers with a sure pleaser on every level because this novel rocks with the sex or without – the romantic suspense in Innocent Next Door is gripping and intense but when Nikolai and Summer finally succumb to their passions it’s as hot and spicy as an erotic reader could wish. I really enjoyed myself and loved the whole concept behind their romance.

What stood out for me besides the well written protagonists, excellent descriptions of environment and the setting of the stage for the conflict was how Ms. Munro addressed the violence and threats that Summer and Nikolai had to face. The hero and his buddies, as well as Summer’s two brothers, are military, SAS soldiers. That stands for Special Air Service; I had to look it up. In this book, there were no shootings or guns tipping the scales one way or the other. After reading about those soldiers, it’s completely believable to me that Nikolai and the rest are lethal weapons themselves and they don’t need hardware to take the bad guys down. I was very impressed with the SAS I read about in real life and I completely agree with Ms. Munro’s choice to highlight how perfect these men are as heroes. They are on par with the US’s Navy SEALS. After meeting Jake and Louie, Josh and Dillon, I can’t wait to read more in the world of the Military Men series the author has created. After seeing them in action in Innocent Next Door I’m honestly fascinated and eager for more.

That being said, the heroine, Summer, might be young but she’s not entirely innocent. She has a protective family that trained her in the basics, and she takes self-defense classes, but it’s her way with books that charmed me. I liked her sass, her confidence and her willingness to own her own actions, even when she messes up, and boy, does she ever. Her decision making process is influenced by her youth but another admirable aspect is her determination to take responsibility when it needs doing, she just has a tendency to not wait for ‘expert opinions’. She wants to stand on her own two feet, and that’s a commendable trait, but not when she gets in over her head, which she does. That is her role in the conflict and she navigates it well because she has help, eventually.

Nikolai is a yummy hero. Even injured, he’s a take charge kind of guy with a noble heart. That nobility is put to the test when in the presence of a tantalizing and nubile Summer as she wreaks havoc with all his good intentions. That man/woman conflict makes for some excellent reading and many opportunities for laughter and giggles. Until, it turns sultry and giggles turn to moans. That is good too.

I think many readers will find this book totally and completely perfect but my rating is a result of my personal preference on not liking dream sequences that give extremely detailed descriptions of a sexual encounter that isn’t real. The fireworks between Summer and Nikolai are flammable and intriguing enough that I prefer to read about things when they really happen to them. On the upside, it was actually short and the author does handle it well, I just don’t like them.

What I did like were the lighthearted moments. I usually don’t have a reason to laugh about condoms in a romance story but I sure giggled a lot in Innocent Next Door because of what Summer says and does regarding them. Poor Nikolai. And there I go, grinning again. There’s a great sense of humor woven in this tale too and it’s showcased through dialogue and actions. It was very entertaining.

Innocent Next Door has to be one of the best examples of Ms. Munro’s talent. It has everything an erotic romantic suspense reader could want. The plot is exciting, the characters are awesome and all I wanted at the end of the book was more. I enthusiastically recommend Innocent Next Door to all readers who like action, excitement, a well-developed romance and a happy ever after that leaves a booklover satisfied. This is a winner.

It takes more than a near-death experience to keep Detective Lou Donovan off the job. Three decapitated bodies are discovered in the empty house of a high-profile Colombian coffee mogul putting a drug cartel at the top of the suspect list. Or is that the perpetrator’s intent?

Lou and her team find themselves dancing on the edge of an international incident where every twist and turn uncovers a tangled web of murderous lies. When the absence of evidence is their strongest lead, Lou must find a way to solve the case while navigating a minefield that threatens to expose the people she has come to love.

Having recently finished Shadows of Doubt, the first book in this series, I was eager to read this one to see what lead character Lou was up to. Her life really changed, and almost ended in Shadows of Doubt, and in this installment Ms. Corcoran did a great job delving deeper into her personality. She’s a likeable character who’s rough around the edges, tells it like it is, and someone you’d definitely want on your side.

I really enjoyed the first story and this second one didn’t disappoint me either. If you’ve read Shadows of Doubt you already know what the added bonus was, that this is essentially a paranormal series, that gives gritty a whole new meaning. The plot builds along with the suspense, and just like the first story did, I found myself reading to find out if my own theories about these grizzly crimes were correct.

The dialogue is very natural sounding, the setting, once again icing on the cake, and the pacing, despite the book’s length, a rollercoaster ride. And there’s even a glimpse of romance thrown in there too.

I don’t know if the author has or is planning any more books in this series but I can’t wait to read more about Lou. If you like gritty mysteries with a healthy dose of the paranormal then I think this is a series you’ll enjoy but I recommend reading Shadows of Doubt first.
